Ebony gave him a nod and a draconic purr, "It will be nice to have other younglings for ours to play with...," she said softly as she looked down at the sleeping balls of huffling noises and tilted her head just a bit as one of them shifted a tiny bit then settled again, "Though... Not too soon, perhaps...," she added in a small voice. She gave one dark head a lick and lowered her head to push one small head back into the pile the others were making so they'd stay warmer. They didn't wake up just yet, still full from their meal. She turned her head back to Lao and nuzzled him just a bit, "Others well be here soon enough, my love... Have patience with them for now...," she told him softly, confidence in her voice. She would have said more but she heard a draconic scream outside of their lair and instantly turned into a very protective mother. She frowned as her head inched a little closer to the entrance as another scream moved through the air, sounding more like an alarm than an attack. A cry of pain echoed it by a male's cry of triumph followed by the sound of large bodies crashing into the rock, "Go Lao! Sounds like a female in trouble. It can only be Sasha, HellBane's daughter! She's the only female in the area! Go!" she said urgently, her head now pushing at him to go to the female's aid. Sasha had tried to get away from the two dark males that had followed her from the Dragon Caves but she hadn't gotten far. Apparently, these two weren't out to Mate her. Just to kill her. Her pale white scales were now covered in deep gashes, her own blood spattering them. One of her wings was torn badly and her other one was actually broken from the fall. She looked up and saw the two circling to land and finish her off. Now she wished she'd said something to Bane before she'd left. He wasn't going to be happy about this... She looked around herself, seeing that she was at the foot of a cliff on a rocky plateau that overlooked a forest. She had caves above her and trees below, rocks to either side and she couldn't fly. Not good...

Lao perked his head up at the shrill cry, a small gout of flames exiting his nostrils as he snorted and got to all fours. "Remain quiet and hidden. I will go deal with this." He stated before getting up and moving over to the ledge that oversaw their domain. Keen eyes were scanning the skies before he noticed two figured in the distance, the both of them circling over something as vultures did before going in for the kill. The Mountain Emperor soon took flight, using his unnatural speed to rocket himself over to their position, and took notice that a battered and broken female lay beneath their circle. They smelled of her blood, and her fear indicated they were responsible.
Lao immediately took to the ground as they descended, blocking the males from claiming their prize. Even in a smaller form, Lao Shan Lung was easily double their size, and his eyes narrowed as flames exited his angered nostrils. "Enough! Come any closer, and I will see to it personally you both become my next meal!" He shouted, slowly crouching into a fighting pose to show them his intent on causing them pain. Severe pain.

The two males apparently decided that they weren't giving up their prize any time soon and dove for the intruder, one intending to distract him while the other went for Sasha. She gave a small cringe and tried to think of a way out that wouldn't get her rescuer killed. she could only see one solution and started working her way closer to the edge of the plateau that overlooked the forest below. It was probably suicide to go over with both wings injured, but at least no one would get hurt because of her this time.

Lao merely grinned, and for an instant it was like he grew bigger size before whirling around, his tail now massive and striking both intruders back. It wasn't going to hurt them, however it gave the Emperor enough time to turn around and grab Sasha. "Hang on tight: I know where you can hide." With that, he dove off the cliff edge and spread his wings to soar over the forest, aiming for the waterfalls to drop Sasha off to hide and clean her wounds while he dealt with such daft males. He planned on reverting to his true size, and use his voice alone to crush them into oblivion.
Seeing the waterfalls, he dove in low and dropped Sasha into the large pool of water, ensuring that her scent would still be on him and nowhere else. Once she was safe, he took off towards the open plains of the island, his wings shrinking and his size growing until he was his full stature.
"COME FACE THE MOUNTAIN EMPEROR IF YOU SO DARE FOOLS!" He bellowed, his voice alone causing the mountains to quake in fear.

Sasha gave a gasp as the stranger picked her up then dropped her in a pool of water, landing a bit stunned and hissing as the water soaked into her cuts and the coldness of it made her broken wing sting. But she stayed under the water until after the other two males passed over her after the stranger. Only then did she raise her head out of the water for air and slowly get the rest of herself out, glancing back sadly at the water as it turned a pink tinge. She laid herself by the water and looked over her wounds, giving a small whimper at the sight of her ruined wings: one broken in several places and the other shredded. The two males followed the male who had interrupted them until he changed into the largest dragon they'd ever seen and announced himself to be the Mountain Emperor. At that point, they proved that they weren't suicidal and turned off to the side and kept going until they were small specks in the sky. And then not even that...

Lao huffed to himself as the males fled, not very happy with their intrusion or their behaviour. Grumbling to himself in his usual ornery fashion, he remained in his massive form and slowly lumber off towards where he had left the broken Sasha, easily finding her in the small clearing by the waterfall. He towered over the trees before looking down at her, keeping some distance as a show of respect.
"You are safe young one. You are hurt, though I know where you may hide and rest until you regain your strength." He stated before slowly lowering himself to the ground, allowing her access to his back. "Climb aboard young one; we do have a journey to make."

Sasha gave Lao a bow of her head when he approached her, despite her injuries, then did as he requested. It wasn't easy for her, but she did manage to get onto his back, hissing a bit when her broken wing got caught between his scales for a moment. She got it loose, but it hurt alot. She finally got herself into a safe position and gave a tired sigh, "Thank you for your aid, Lao-Shung (hope that's right). I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't shown up when you did... I almost lost them in the air when one of them moved in and slashed my wing, forcing me to the ground where I broke the other one...," she said softly as he started moving. She turned her head to inspect her wings again and winced, "Man, Dad is gonna be pissed about this one...," she said softly, fairly certain that he was really going to blow his top this time. They had enough problems as it was, though she hadn't mentioned the assassination attempts on her to Bane, just the attempts to force her into a Mating. This was the worst she'd been injured over the last few months and this one she wasn't going to be able to cover up with an excuse. She gave another soft sigh, "Yeah... I'm in trouble this time...," she added in an even softer voice, really not looking forward to her father finding out about this one...

"Your of HellBane's species aren't you? You carry your father's scent, yet I cannot discern your mother's lineage. Not any dragon I have ever known." Lao commented as he slowly padded through the island, avoiding destroying trees and foliage with careful steps. The mountain spire he called home was nearby, and the primal dragon huffed to himself with a smile before finally reaching the base. Slowly he lowered himself and shook Sahsa until she rested on his head, and from there he raised up to his hind legs, reaching his massive stature and giving Sasha enough of a boost that all she needed to do was make a small jump up to the ledge that led to there home.
"My mate Ebony is inside: she'll help fix you up. If your father comes, I will deal with him and explain the situation: no need to blame yourself for this. At least, not as long as you weren't the one provoking those two to do this to you."

It took her a few moments, but Sasha managed to get herself up onto the ledge. She couldn't go any further than that, though. She simply hurt too much. It was all she could do to keep from screaming with it. She laid down and breathed through the pain for a moment, then addressed Lao's comments, "I'm actually a full blooded dragon, but my mother was one of the rare ones. She was a true healer, the last of them. She was the purest white to Bane's darkest black. They both knew that it wasn't really a match between them, but she wanted children. So in return for one of the hatchlings, Bane agreed to father her children. Bane chose me from the eggs she'd laid and took me home with him. But when I was a small child, my nurse tried to smother me in my sleep, so Bane arranged for me to be brought to the human realm to be raised in a place he knew would protect me. But my escorts rebelled against him and sold me instead to a human family. I grew up without knowing what I was until I met my mate. But he was killed a few months ago in a challenge. I've basically been hounded by unpartnered males and assassins ever since...," she explained to him as best as she could. She couldn't stop a small whimper from escaping her as the muscles in her broken wing twitched and sent pain coursing through her. She'd managed to clean up at the small lake, but doing so only revealed how badly she was hurt. Her pale white scales showed the slashes and claw marks along her body very clearly, as well as the shredded membranes of her left wing while her right one twisted and curved at odd angles, proving how badly it was broken. She couldn't even concentrate enough to shift to her human form, though the injuries would probably look alot worse in that form. Ebony moved forward at the sound of Sasha's whimper and gasped at the sight of her injuries, wondering how the female was speaking, much less still conscious. "Sasha! Great Good Goddess! I have no idea where to start!" she was simply floored and had no idea how to help her. She angled her head to look at Lao, "What do you suggest? I... I have no idea... I...," she shook her head, her shock clear on her face. That this could have happened to a female dragon by males of their species truly floored her, "I hope you killed the bastards!" she finally growled out as she moved to rub cheeks with Sasha briefly.

"Let them come in droves if they wish. I will kill them all the next time they decide to pull a stunt like this." Lao stated before shifting to his winged form, flying up to where the females where and slowly inspecting Sasha's wounds. "Nothing fatal or life threatening that I can see." Lao was certainly much bigger than both of the females, and he picked up Sasha by the scruff of her neck as if she were still just a wyrmling, taking her inside to where they babies were sleeping.
"You will stay here and rest. Your father will come looking, and if anything he will probably trace you here. Until then, regain your strength." He ordered, looking back at Ebony with a nod. He figured his mate would know a few things about fixing wounds: Lao was so old and his skin durable that it was rare he got hurt.

Sasha gave a small yelp as Lao picked her up by her scruff, then a whimper as he set her down and jarred her broken wing in the process. She shook her head about her father, "He hasn't been himself lately... We both lost our mates about the same time... We were fully bonded with them...," she said softly as she laid down again, though there was a wistful look in her silver swirling eyes as she caught sight of the hatchlings. She'd wanted children badly, but it just wasn't meant to be, it seemed. Rail was gone, leaving a void in her that was almost unbearable to feel. Ebony caught Lao's look and winced, shifting to her human form and heading for one of her chests that he'd moved into the cavern. She pulled out a bolt of fine silk, needle and thread,a pair of scissors, and collapsible splints made specifically for dragon wings. She carried everything over to Sasha then went back and retrieved a large pot of a soothing smelling salve and came back with it, "Shift Lao, I'm going to need your help," she told him simply. She'd start with the broken wing then move on to the shredded one, it was the best way to get it all done. Her heart was breaking for the poor female. She couldn't imagine loosing Lao, couldn't even consider the possibility... She started with the numbing salve, rubbing it into every wound she could find and then into both wings. Only then did she pick up the splint and unfold it, "Set the wing, my love," she told him as she threaded a needle, knowing he had the strength to do it in one movement.

Lao gave her a slow nod. "Then let me tell you a story young one. I understand your pain; I have lived a long time, and I have experienced much in my eons of existence." He was careful in helping Ebony set Sasha's wings, delicately handling the broken limb and setting the splint up before looking to Ebony with a sad smile; she was the only thing left other than their children that kept him awake. To lose her and his brood would render him a mindless force of nature, either needing to be destroyed by the Goddess herself or be put to sleep forever.
"I am a Primal, one of the first dragons that ever walked these lands. In fact, I come from a mountain valley that isn't too far from this island. In my youth, I wandered the barren landscape alone, for I had not yet understood that I wasn't the only dragon in existence. Eventually, I cried my frustrations to the heavens, for I was still a young male and sought to end my loneliness. After my first few centuries of life, I came across another Primal, a dragoness of the icy north named Rialda." A faint grin came to his lips as he shifted his eyes to Ebony, looking her over with a gratified smile. "She was the opposite of my current mate: her scales radiated a golden white like the snow she brought with her, and a temper to match. I wanted to mate; she wanted to fight. For centuries we battled across the land, leaving behind destruction in our wake. Because of our origins, we couldn't kill one another, but blood was shed and wounds were caused...."
Finishing with the splint, he took a step back and shifted back into his dragon form, moving over to the sleeping wyrmlings and curling around them. "After a few centuries of fighting, I wanted no more. All I sought was company, and yet I had never noticed the lesser creatures that worshipped Rialda and I as divine beings. Instead, in our pride, all we did was destroy. I left the battlefield, not wanting to make the rest of the land suffer because I wanted satisfaction. Rialda was impressed by my concern over the lesser beings, and we bonded that day. It was also the day we swore oaths to the heavens themselves that we would spawn the future guardians of the mortal races. That was when I fathered the Mountain Dragon species, and with them all subspecies that followed. I fathered the Red Dragons, the Cliff Dragons, and even sired a brood of Mountain and Land Wyrms. I was proud, and decided to settle down in the mountain valleys I was born with. Rialda disliked the heat, and she left for the north. We kept in contact and visited often..... but one day I found her polar home destroyed. In the wake of the destruction, I found a being so black and evil. Pain and sorrow surrounded this foul beast like an aura, and with it I felt my hope sink. It was the only other time I have ever battled and Immortal, and the last time I have ever seen the foul creature. Before he left, he told me his name: Fatalis, the Bringer of Ruin..... In my sorrow, I returned home and settled to sleep in the mountain valleys, leaving my children to guard the mortals as I slept. Life held no meaning without Rialda at that time, and my children understood my pain. The mortals that lived there also heard my story, and thus I was named Lao-Shan Lung, The Mountain Emperor. As I slept, civilization spread in the mountains, and many settled upon my back as my chosen people."
Lao took a moment to gently nuzzle his new children, watching them sleep with fatherly pride. "In my sleep, many prayed and whispered to me for fortune, advice, and other wishes. I heard much, yet only rarely did I ever awake to defend my people and their home. Ebony was one of the children who spawned in my valley, and she would whisper to me in my sleep about how she admired me. I was unable to respond, and her voice was so faint I could hardly hear it. I cannot recall the exact time, but my mind and dreams were filled with more death and pain. My people cried for me, and my children died around me as I slept. I could not awake to defend them, and once more I was alone when I awoke. I was furious at the death of everything I loved, and I went from the benevolent Mountain Emperor to the Red Death of the Mountains. I raged and roared, carrying mayhem with me as I tore through the lands to find the killers of my people. My search led me here, where I met Ebony. She knew me well, yet I did not know her. Fate so had it that her adoptive mother, the Goddess of these Isles, had other plans for me. She is now my sworn mate, and I swore that I will never lay myself down to sleep until my duties in this life are done. I will see to it that my children survive, and we dragons will uphold the oaths most of us Primals made: to be the guardians of the mortal races."

((I got this))
Lao grinned at the speechlessness of the women, noticing one of his sons was waking up. With a fatherly smile, he gently tapped the youngster on the forehead as the child tried to escape from the confines of his tail, reminding the young one to stay with the brood. "If there is anything I want you to understand from my tale Sasha, is that you cannot dwell too long on the past. I respect that you are in mourning, and it is healthy to grieve over the loss of a loved one. However, we dragons live a very long time. Your mate may be gone, but fate has more in store for you than you would believe. Another worthy male may come, and you will recognize him for it when the time is right. Until then, nurse your wounds and come back stronger than ever." The Primal stated and looked over at Ebony with a smile, motioning for her to shift into her dragon form and come help him take care of the waking wyrmlings.

Ebony frowned at Lao as she moved over to what was left of the deer and simply drug it over to the hatchlings who were waking up. Then she moved back to stitching up Sasha without a word.
Sasha gave a small shrug and looked at Lao, "And what would you feel if anything happened to Ebony? What would you do?" she asked him softly, knowing full what the answer would be, "It has only been a few months for me, Lao... Rail was my first Mate... It will be a while before I take another...," she told him firmly as she lowered her head to try to relax while Ebony finished up with her claw marks, both wings out to the side.
