The four of them had made a plan. It wasn't too complicated, and it was sure to succeed... well, they hoped at least. The plan was this: Put enough pokemon out that each one would be able to watch one closely. Then, if anything strange happens, intervene!

And so they sat, Hawk and Chirp in the bushes, watching a Swana and the Lilligant from before. Across the yard, the old couple were watching a Gengar and a Mr.Mime. They had set up in the evening so that when nigh came, they would be ready, and frankly, the wait had been boring.

"...hey, Hawk! Wake up!"

Chirp reached out and shook the boy, who had fallen asleep on the job. He didn't wake up. He just kept on sleeping, letting out gentle sighs every now and then. Chirp looked back at the Swana, slowly drifting around in the fountain. Nothing was happening, and everything was just so quiet...Even the old couple were asleep, leaving the Gengar, Mr. Mime and the little Clefairy unattended! Uhm.. what? The Clefairy were busy singing to the old couple and gingerly kissing the other pokemon. The Gengar and Mr. Mime were bewildered by this sudden large amount of effection, and were unaware of the Clefairy ushering them away from the old couple!

"Oh snap, oh snap!" Chirp was starting to panic, everyone else was asleep! She turned to hawk, and reached out to shake him! She felt her hands grasp something warm, and she just shook as hard as she could! When she eventually dragged the thing out of the bushes, she found it was another Clefairy! She dropped it, surprised that it was there so suddenly. It must have been what knocked out Hawk! With an angry grunt, she'd give it a punt before running over to rescue the other two pokemon! "HEEEY!!!!" she yelled, sprinting towards the collection of Clefairy.

The pokemon all turned and looked at the sudden interruption. Guh, that Johenson could never use Sing properly! They began to mutter in confusion. Did they have time to put her to sleep?! How were they going to stop her?! (Uhhhhm... is this a bad time to tell you guys I already called for a pickup?) One of the clefairy chirped from the depths of the crowd. The group let out a collective groan.

Chirp was approaching the group fast. She really didn't have a plan. She just.. had to do something! Hawk and the Old Couple had been sung, so she was all there was! She was just about there. she could see the whites of their eyes!! With a final lunge, she was on the verge of grabbing one of them when suddenly----!!!

The Swana had been watching Chirp sprint across the yard towards the groups of pink things. It was relatively entertaining to watch. The Swana tracked her progress until she disappeared. wait, what? What the SQUAK just happened?! The girl had been running, and took a flying leap, then her, the Clefairy and the two other pokemon just... vanished.

Hawk awoke to find it was daytime. Had he.. fallen asleep? He pushed his way out of the bushes and noticed that several of the pokemon they were watching last night were gone. "DANGIT!" Hawk shouted, waking the Old Couple.

"Oh! Wha?! WHO'S THERE?!" The old woman shouted back, jumping to her feet and grabbing a rake. After a few blind swings, she realized what had happened.

"Ugh, I guess we missed em. We'll get em next time." Hawk said, walking over to the couple and taking the rake from the woman. Didn't need her having a weapon if she chose to attack him again. "Hang on, I'll see if Chirp's awake." He made his way back to the bush and reached on inside, expecting to find Chirp so he could just shake her awake. But... she wasn't there! It was strange... where had she gone? "I'm sure she must have... uhm... gone to town for something." He told himself. "Like a net, or a trap or something."

...And so they waited out the day. The Old couple and Hawk did chores in silence, each one listening out for Chirp. They didn't want to think of a scenario in which she was in trouble. She was fine... just.. out on errands. Besides, she had her pokemon with her, so why worry? When the time came for them to wait for the culprit, they all took their positions without saying much.

At first it looked like it would be the same as usual. They sit around, watching the pokemon, then next thing they know, it's morning and some of them are gone. Hawk had already given up when suddenly a loud BANG! rang out through the air. Hawk jumped out of the bushes in time to see the Old Couple jump out of their chairs. Not-so-High above them, a large silver sphere was circling, electricity crackling along its surface. Its bottom opened up, almost as if it was blooming. It left a small disc in the center, which was reduced to a shadowy blob due to the immense amount of light coming from the sphere. "HOW HAD NO ONE NOTICED THIS?!" Hawk screamed. It was a flippin' UFO, man.

The blob-disc began to sink slowly... then quickly slammed into the ground. Another loud bang came from the sphere, and smoke began spiraling out of the top. Fire flared out of the bottom and Clefairy began raining out of it. Along with them, several other pokemon came falling out as well. By the looks of it, they were the abducted pokemon and then some. Hawk couldn't believe it! what was this?! The sphere closed itself up, minus the spot where the disc was, and began rising into the sky. Like the disc, it's slow ascent suddenly flipped sides as it was in the stratosphere in an instant and promptly exploded in a fiery detonation.

Hawk stood still, his mouth hanging open. He looked down at the mass of swarming Clefairy. They were scrambling around! The other pokemon quickly got away from them and retreated into the house. A figure stood up amongst the clefairy, it looked human. It pointed at him and muttered something, and then all.. er.. 1, 2 3, 4, 5....7..8.9...10..11..er... all insertcorrectnumberofclefairyhere turned towards him. There had to be at least 52 of them, and that's only what he could see in the dim light that the silver disc was giving off. A few of them broke off and rushed towards him. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but in the darkness the little buggers were hard to see.

"HAWK!!" He heard right before a flashlight came sailing towards him. He snatched it out of the air and had just enough time to see the Clefairy slamming into him clearly. He stumbled backwards, but managed to stable, and brace himself against the other clefairies. It was like being stoned by little pokefists. He had to do something! And so he lashed out, taking big sweeping kicks, knocking pokemon out of his way. With his free hand he dug into his bag and dumped out as many pokeballs as he could before he was hit with another pound.

Two, Zero and Five found themselves in the pitch black. Each could tell there was a Clefairy army in the area, whether it was by their psychic presence, the fact they could see in the dark, or their acute sense of smell, they could tell. Hawk yelled, "ATTACK!" and it was all they needed.

Two Reached out with Psychic, snaking through the grass and snatching up anything in his path. Once he had a small collection of rocks and clefairies, he began raining them down into the crowds. Pelting clefairy with other clefairy seems inhumane, but they weren't human, so it didn't matter. They tried to fight back with pound, Wake up slap, and even Metronome, but they were just no match for the full powered Lunatone. He was so chock full of Cosmic power from the meteor festival, he was just blasting pokemon left and right

Five felt at home. This mosh pit of a battle was a lot more comfortable than the stuffy one on ones she had been in. Her claws were lashing out, attacking with Scratch and blocking with it too. Her main power-house was her Iron tail. It was just such a rush feeling the clefairy be slapped away by a strong, metallic tail. Ohbaby. She could just feel the battle in her heart. Her swings and kicks and tailswipes were becoming more rhythmic. She could feel Chi draining into her! Soon, a greenish Blue aura began forming around her. She could feel and see the Clefairy being hit harder. Less of them got back up after being slapped across the face! The Aura took on a form, no, several forms! long, flat objects with pointed tips! Ohsnap! It was an epic Swords Dance! With her dance giving her more strength, she felt like she could fight for weeks!

Zero wasn't like the other two. She stood proud amongst a half-crescent of the clefairy. They were wary about attacking her because of her inaction. The Luxio was simply biding her time, slowly building up a charge. They stood like this for a while. Clefairy could be seen flying about in the background as the other battles were waged. Zero closed her eyes and took a calming breath. One clefairy took a step forward and Zero lashed out, pouncing on the pokemon and hitting it with a Bite. Like a graceful cat of prey, she hurled it into the clefairy next to it, and set off running through the crowd with a Spark. The electricity she built up ran through every clefairy she passed, bumped into, pounced on or jumped over. In a matter of seconds, her epic display of awesomeness had moved her across the field and had left a zigzag of beaten Clefairy in her wake.

As for Hawk, he'd began to perform an epic feat of his own! He'd skirted along the edge of the battles, holding a KO'd Clefairy until he happened to meet up with Zero, who was turning around to have another run through with spark. As she left, he ran through the crowds himself, using the Clefairy as a shield and anti-pink-fairy-pokemon bat. He was headed for the humanoid alien amongst them. He was gonna punch them until they called off their army! Ohyeah, as he got close, he threw the clefairy, pulled his arm back, balled up a tight fist and--

He stopped.

Standing infront him, her face illuminated by the flashlight... was Chirp. Granted, she was looking at him with a deadpan expression and was completely naked- WOAH WHAT THE?! Hawk could feel the blood dripping out of his nose even before he was punched straight in the face by Chirp. He stumbled backwards, tripping over some clefairy. His fall took some out, but that didn't matter to him at the moment. Chirp was here, assaulting him.. and... and... oh boy.

Zero began to noticed a change. The Clefairy were dodging her. They'd began to shine with an eerie silver light. She could see they were fighting back with a renewed vigor. Were they healing themselves?! Her suspicion was confirmed with she was slammed by several Wake-Up slaps and sent to the ground. She hopped up to her feet just in time to dodge a bolt of lightning. Soon fire came spiraling towards her. Then seeds! One of the Clefairy suddenly flew up high and began swooping down at her! This was.. becoming hard to dodge! More hits connected. The worst part was: she was surrounded with no escape in sight.

Five's energy was fading fast. Maybe... throwing yourself into impossible odds with only three moves to your name wasn't a good idea. It had gotten to a point where all she could do was dodge and block. There wasn't any time to counter or anything like that! She found out just how unlucky she was when one of the Clefairy suddenly turned metallic and grabbed her Iron Tail. She was bombarded with Wake-up slaps and Meteor Mashes. She didn't last half a minute, and was KO'd before she could even think about being scared.

Two was the only one who could hold hisherits own. It wasn't able to heal itself, but it ran off of the same fuel source they did: the moon. It could use Cosmic Power to draw some strength from the moon. Yeah, it wouldn't be the same as their healing, but he could use it to push himself further. His psychics were getting less devastating, and only going downhill. Suddenly, he got an idea. He rose as high as he could and let loose a Hypnosis, spinning around and glaring into every eye he could catch. Several Clefairy dropped, asleep. This only caused the others to use Metronome, and began using a variety of moves. Two could only manage to use Dream Eater in time to counter the jets of water, fire, electricity, leaves, energy and air that hit him all at once. He was pushed into an inescapable loop of draining one, being hurt by the rest and doing it all over again.

The Old Couple had been washed inside of their home by the influx of pokemon, and had been busy making sure they were all there. by the looks of it, they were... but They all seemed shaken. The old man took a look out of the doorway. There was a lot of ruckus going on out there. "Gertrude! Go on outside and help fight them Clefairy!" He yelled into the kitchen.

The Magmortar stomped her way outside, ripping off her apron and shoes. In her head, dramatic classical music was playing as she washed the crowds with her Lava Plume. Yes, she was kinda blasting indiscriminately, but by the looks of it, Hawk's pokemon had been returned, save for Two, who was higher than the attack anyway, and the Two humans were playing some kind of chasing game, with the female chasing the male. So, when the Clefairies were subjected to her intense flames, she had no qualms, no worries. Just flames. So many flames.

Hawk found himself at the edge of the field. He spun around and tried his best to keep his eyes on Chirp's face. Especially since the intense flames being thrown around were casting a large amount of light onto the field. Chirp seemed upset, and was walking towards him with her fists clenched. "L-listen! If this is about the festival, I thought we settled all of that!" He chuckled. "I mean... yeah, it was a bad time... but it's no use to go all Psycho-naked-punch-contest on me!"

She took a few steps closer, her fists raised. She was all geared up to knock his lights out, when all of a sudden, a piping hot Lunatone came sailing over and collided with her. The two of them hit the fence and fell to the ground.

"HOLY CRAP!" Hawk cried, looking over at a pile of mowed down Clefairy and a surprised looking Magmortar. It slowly slinked back into the house and placed the door over the doorway. Hawk returned Two and crouched down next to Chirp. "Tia! TIA!! TIA!!" he shouted, calling her name as many times as he could. She wasn't responding! Now in a panic, he scooped her up and ran to the house....

It had been about a week when Chirp woke up. She was in... the... oh, right. The Old Couple's guest bedroom. She sat up, taking a look around. Everything was shifting between being unfamiliar and something she remembered. She got up out of bed and stumbled. "How do I walk?" she mumbled. She stared at the ground a little, then managed to push herself up onto her feet. After a few wobbles, she managed to take a few steps and get used to the feeling of being upright. She left the room, and promptly remembered the hallway. "That's right... the stairs lead to the halls and the kitchen. Hang a left, and you're outside... to the right is where the pokeballs were kept and the living room... Before she knew it, she was standing in the doorway. Had the door always been so... new? No.. it was... broken.. a few days ago. She opened the door and looked at the field. Two males were currently rolling out some new grass. One of them was Hawk. Yeah, Hawk! Childhood friend and boyfriend. They looked up and saw her, and even from a distance, she could tell they were relieved.

With Chirp awake, the field back in manageable order, and the clefairy detained in pokeballs, (Which took a considerable amount of pokeballs to capture all 102 pokemon. It had gotten to a point where the old couple had run out of empties and had the police come capture the rest.), Hawk and Chirp finally got themselves in order and were able to leave. For some reason, they couldn't find any of Chirp's belongings, so she ended up wearing some of Hawk's extra clothes. They fit her well, save for the large trench coat he wore. It drooped on her because she just didn't have the shoulders for it.

"Well, We stopped the abductions.... I guess." Hawk said as the two of them walked down the path. "I mean... The pokemon were found in the Clefairy's ship.... before it exploded... and the clefairy were all detained I think. Either that, or they got blown up... So I'd say mission complete!"

Chirp looked at him, her face blank for a bit. Unlike the other things, the memories of these things remained unclear. She couldn't remember this ship of which he spoke, or the Clefairy that he mentioned. But the mentioning of a mission made her remember. They were there to stop the disappearances... and Hawk believed them to be stopped, so... objective met, yes?

The two of them pulled off the path once they couldn't see the daycare. "Are you sure you're ok? Two hit you kinda hard.." Hawk asked, looking at the bandages wrapped around her head. Now that he took time to notice it, her hair was significantly longer. Usually the longest she kept it was to her shoulders. Now, he hair was practically dragging across the ground. With all the weird things girls do that drastically alters their appearance, he was sure it wasn't something to be alarmed about... but if he didn't comment on it, she'd probably get mad at him.

"I am fine." Chirp said. And that was all she said on the matter. She continued to stare at Hawk. Even with the weird looks he was giving her. He seemed to shrug it off as he released a Braviary and helped her on. With her on the bird, and Him on the Lunatone, the two of them set off for HQ.

[oooooh baby. This is gonna be a trip and a half.]

On a day where everything was completely normal, nothing could go wrong... actually, no, I take that back. Normal days are like... the worst thing that could happen. They were like those weird moments where the sea pulls back super far, and then suddenly the whole world gets hit with a mega wave. Which explains why Hawk was so on edge today. Him, Chirp, and Maia, the latter having stalked them to their current destination. Which was quite the achievement, seeing as they'd taken a leisurely stroll down to the base of the mountain.

It was a nice, quiet place where the waterfall inside leaked out a little, creating a beautiful stream and a pond! Hawk and Chirp had come here in their final piece of R&R before they'd be willing to hunker down for some good ol' fashioned work. Helping out, thinking about the team and what not.

Maia, on the other hand, was waiting and watching... Just hoping they'd let their guard down for even the tiniest of seconds. She'd pounce, eliminate Chirp and resume her rightful spot with Hawk. It's not that she was evil, per se'... It's just that Chirp was a bit of a jealous, insecure person. Thus, it transferred over to Maia, except with the whole "not being Chirp" part not catching on.To her, Hawk was her man, and in a way, he was... but at the same time-- GAH, SKIP THE CLONE SHENANIGANS.

Hawk and chirp were relaxing by the pond. ok, there. we're back on track....

"So uhm... Can I ask you a question?" Hawk said, digging around in his bag. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, but the motion made him seem busy, which made the following question seem more off-handed. "What's up with your hair?"

Chirp looked over at him. She'd been sitting in the shallow end of the pond for the heck of it. "Hm? My hair?" She suddenly felt a lot more self-conscious than usual. Instinctively, she removed her scrunchies and began retying her pigtails. "I've been using my old conditioner...."

"Well, that's not what I mean. I mean the... well. I dunno if they're sew ins, or a weave... or a wig or something, but the flip-flopping between ultrashort and ultralong."

"...uhm.. Hawk? Are you ok? I always keep my hair short. Like.. always." she rose an eyebrow at the boy, feeling the urge to check his temperature.

Hawk looked at her, and rose an eyebrow too. "But I-"

The sound of a Cell phone ringing cut him off. Chirp's face turned red as the two stared at each other. "Uh.. I think that's me.." she said, trying to put on a smile. She could tell Hawk was upset about the phone, simply because they could be tracked. Chirp flipped open the phone and held it to her head. "Hello? This is Tia... yeah.." Her sheepish smile faded and turned into a serious expression. "...You're kidding... Sh//t. I.. I'll see what I can do. Just try to keep everbody calm." With that, she flipped the phone closed and got up. "Hawk, Come on, we need to get to Castelia, like.. yesterday."

Hawk didn't protest. Something about the commanding way she'd said it had the right amounts of authoritative and hot. So, he repacked his bag and got up. The two of them taking off at a quick jog up the mountain.

Maia rose an eyebrow. The only people who had her number were her siblings, Flip, and Hawk's parents... Out of the... six of them... who would provoke such a response? So, she'd take off after them with all her stalky goodness. Thankfully for her, she was a sh//t ton more athletic than her original, so free running through the trees was like breathing in a room full of air. She arrived just in time to watch them go behind the waterfall. She snuck over to the doors and looked in, watching the two of them as they checked their stuff, and then teleport off on Claydol. With a clenched fist, she ran over to Claydol to get teleported to wherever they were going. It would be kinda difficult, what with the going in blindly, but it would be worth it if her plans succeed!

Maia came to on the streets of some city. She really couldn't figure out what this place was, exactly... No. No wait... that building... those stairs... Yeah, it was coming to her. This was Castelia, Hawk's birth place, and where her home was at the moment. She took a quick look around at the many streets branching off of the main road. Where had they gone? Hawk was with the imposter, and it was up to her to do something about it.

A sudden, loud explosion off further in the city stole her attention. Knowing Hawk, that was either him, or..... yeah, there's no other reason she could think of.

"Great job, Eight." Hawk said, the Chandelure lowering itself, and keeping an eye on the clouds of smoke filling the alley. Chirp was behind him, a pokeball in her hand. The smoke cleared, revealing the Togekiss and the burly man it belonged to. "Would you mind explaining what the H-E-L-L-O-M-R-S-U-B-W-A-Y you're doing?!"

"...Hello mr. Subway? what the hell is your problem, kid? Are you some kind of reta-"

"HEY! That word is very insensitive. I'll wring your neck out!" Chirp shouted, trying to bum rush the guy. Her attempt was made a lot more difficult by Hawk holding her back. "LET ME GO! Let me kill him! Just once or twice!!"

"Chirp! Chirp!!! TIA, calm the f//k down!" Hawk grunted, struggling to hold her away from the man. "I understand you're upset! Just let me handle this!"

"Shut up!! Look Look! He's getting away!!" Chirp shouted, pointing at the man and his pokemon. They had turned and began running down the alley, knocking things over in the process. Chirp managed to break away from Hawk and take off after him, climbing over boxes and trash cans in the process.

Hawk sighed, grabbed onto Eight and took off after her, using the pokemon to simply raise above the debris.

.... "They're not here..." Maia sighed, having arrived at the alley a bit too late. It looked like crap. Paper and trash were scattered everywhere. Several holes were blown into the ground and the walls were severely scorched. Even the door to Cafe Sonata was blown apart. Maia took a few steps over to the destroyed door and took a look inside the building. Like the alley, it was totaled. Tables were smashed in half, chairs impaled in walls, and where there weren't scorch marks, the area was encased in thick sheets of ice. It was just a total disaster area.

For some reason, Maia felt a tear roll down her face. Why was she crying? What possible reason could she have for becoming sad over the destruction of this Cafe? Like with her other memories, she felt them surface like ping pong balls raising a sunken ship....

-------Flaaaaashbaaaaaack-------

"Well... you're a little young to be waitressing, Don't ya think?" The bartender said. He was in the process of wiping down one of the many shot glasses he had stacked in front of him. Despite his dark sunglasses, she could see the worry in his bright purple eyes. It was widely known that this guy was a Zorua Hybrid. He'd been one for as long as he'd been in castelia, as far as Chirp knew... well, as far as SHE knew. He shifted appearances so often that no one really remembered what he looked like. All they could remember was the piercing, bright purple eyes he had.

As if she were under someone else's control, Maia felt herself say, "Well... yeah, I guess.. but you know I'm good for it, right? I won't tell anyone, promise! I... I really need this job!"

"...But aren't you already the candy striper at Minccino Municipal? And aren't you the one in the Lilligant costume outside Lady Lilly's hair salon? why in the world would a girl your age need three jobs?" The Bartender asked, placing the glass on the table and grabbing another from the nearby sink.

"...I uh.. I'm trying to save up for a car." Maia heard herself say. She could tell that she was lying... that there was some other motivation.

"..." The bartender sighed, turned around and began messing with the bottles behind him. "..Take this to table four." He said, turning back around and giving Maia a tray of drinks.

Maia felt happiness wash over her, but as soon as she turned around...

-------

...she was back in the destroyed bar. When had she come inside? She was standing amongst the smashed bar stools with half a tray in her hand. "...I'.. I'm wasting time." She mumbled, making her way out. It was hard to figure out how what she had just remembered mattered. The different crunches of snow and burnt paper were just too distracting.

Maia left the bar, and took a quick glance up and down the alley. By the looks of things, the battle had started in the bar, and bled out into the street... She knew her doppelganger didn't have any fire type pokemon, and Hawk didn't have any ice types, so Hawk must be using his Chandelure. Maia took another look around before climbing over some of the junk blocking the narrow street. It wasn't long before another explosion shook the area. The sounds of screams and several beams shooting into the sky followed it. A final explosion ended this destruction sandwich, and even left a nice tall cloud of pitch black smoke drifting into the sky. Maia instantly took off in its direction.

"C'mon, this way!" Chirp said, not even stopping while she turned to wave at Hawk. She was neck deep in people, as she was currently fighting through the crowds watching the Dancers. The man they were chasing had begun weaving his way through the crowds and thanks to his Togekiss, he was much farther ahead of them. "Come on, lady! move out of the way!" Chirp grunted, trying to push a porky woman out of the path. The stranger was putting up a hell of a fight, and was keeping Chirp at bay like some kind of Oshawott in a rolling trash can.

"I'll go ahead and stall him!" Hawk said, him and Eight soaring on ahead. Chirp had never really explained why she was so upset... She'd only been shouting instructions at him. "Stop that guy", "Burn this pokemon", "run this way". It was all a bit confusing, but it was obviously something Chirp was passionate about, and he'd be damned if he didn't take this seriously. No, really. Chirp would probably find a way to open the gates of heck and have him thrown in.

So, him and his pokemon went ahead, keeping and aerial view on their target. The big dude and his togekiss were having no issue getting through the crowds. The man could shove anyone anywhere, and when he couldn't he just had his pokemon use Psychic and move the person forcefully. This made things harder for chirp, since she had to deal with the onlookers from both the shoving and the dancers. But, for Hawk all this was irrelevant. He kept trailing the man, not wanting to have Eight attack or anything, since he wanted to avoid hitting anyone in his home town.

This man he was following hadn't really done anything to him.. but Chirp had yelled across the whole Cafe just to have Hawk battle him, so something must be wrong. Frankly, she seemed... on edge, worried, even. What had the two of them been talking about before hand? Uhp, no time to think about it now! He just got clear of the crowds! "Eight! Flamethrower!" He shouted, letting go of the pokemon so it could fire off the flames without worry. Yeah, he had to land with a wicked awesome roll, but that only made him look cooler. The Chandelure let out a jet of intense flames. They hit the ground behind the man, and Eight quickly readjusted the attack, letting the jet of flames scorch a line behind him until he suddenly darted out of the way, letting the flames hit a gas can.

Waitwait, why was a Gas can in the middle of the sidewalk? Well, it's not too important, but I guess I'll backtrack a little.

--------Earlier this morning-----

"...And that's why I believe Kirk Fibers should be mayor." Dean Thomas said from atop his stage. The very fancy cloth and metal soap-box on which Dean had placed himself bore many different logos, all of which belonged to a company which was sponsoring the young man's campaigning. "We need a mayor that isn't afraid to get his hands dirty! A mayor who isn't afraid to work with the little guy! Kirk is that man!" Dean pointed to a rather bulky man and his Togekiss. At the moment, Togekiss had a car held up with Psychic and was changing a flat tire, while the man put gas in the tank with a expensive looking silver gas can. He had on a big grin, and was talking to the driver like they were best friends.

The people around Dean looked briefly, and began muttering as they dispersed. Soon, the street was back to normal, people going along their routines and such. Dean got down from the stage and began dismantling it. All the while, grumbling about stupid people and the liberal media. Kirk, having finished with the driver, came on over and placed a plate-sized hand on Dean's back.

"Do not worry, young one." He growled in a thick russian accent.... well... it would equate to a russian accent, for one could argue that there is no Russia. However, on the same coin: Hollywood apparently exists, which means that North America is somewhere on the Pokeglobe. Anyway... "We may not have gotten their hearts into their hands, but we have put our faces in their minds."

With the stage collapsed, and put back in its box, Dean and Kirk walked off, discussing their next plan. They were so caught up in their chatter, that none of them bothered to think about the gas can! And so it was left on the sidewalk.

-----

KABOOOOOOOOOM! The gas can popped with a loud, but short ranged explosion, spilling fire around the area. The people reacted calmly, by which I mean the usual "ah, there's fire" stampede started. Chirp managed to punch, kick and shove her way out of the crowd before she got trampled, so she was alright. With that information confirmed, Hawk turned and noticed Kirk picking himself up. Looks like he'd been knocked down by the explosion. Rather than giving him time to keep running, Hawk hurled a pokeball in front of the man. It released Five, the Zangoose! With expert agility, Hawk snatched the empty pokeball out of the air and ran over.

Five, caught up in the moment, swung her arms around in a very harsh looking dance. Blue chi flared around her. Briefly, the image of a sword appeared next to her, but as quickly as it came, it was gone, and the blue aura it was made of was now drifting slowly off of her claws. With a grin, she got ready for a fight.

Kirk pushed himself up, looking up at the claws of a Zangoose. "..Togekiss! Psychic!" He shouted. Before Five could react, she was hoisted off of the ground and tossed into a nearby fountain by the Togekiss's telekinetic assault. Kirk got up, grinning like a madman. This kid thinks he could just waltz in here and take him down?

Yes. Hawk did think that. Which was the reason he'd been charging at the man ever since he saw his pokemon get tossed away. Stupidly, the man took a moment to straighten the tie he was wearing. This gave hawk ample time to close the distance, take a flying leap and plant a nice hard kick right in the guy's back! Yeah! It was a critical hit!... which.. did.. absolutely nothing!

Hawk fell to the ground. The problem with his plan was that Kirk was built like an armored truck. If it wasn't for the silky dress clothes he wore, everyone would see this guy was 150% muscle, 10% hair and 40% brain. What? the other organs? He's too strong to need those. So, Hawk's meek muscle would do nothing more than give the man's back a gentle pat. The ironic part was: The tables Hawk had oh-so-carefully set up were now in the air doing 720s.

"Little boy." Kirk began, his accent dripping with venom. "I do not know why you choose to assault me." With his huge, meaty hands, he reached down and pulled Hawk to his feet. "But I encourage you to stop, my friend. It would not look good for a politician to be seen destroying little boys in the street."

Hawk would have loved to push the man's hand away, but his grip was like some kind of vice made of diamonds and super glue. All He could do was glare at the man's deep purple eyes... They struck him as odd... There were few people he knew that had purple eyes... The Bartender, who was now known to be quite dead, him and his father... well, now this guy too.

What? Oh, the bartender? yeah, he died. Don't worry, I'll get to it. I got a little ahead of myself, there.

"Let go of him, you monster!!" Chirp screeched, joining the two men in the streets leading out of the park. She released her Riolu, who fell into step next to her. "Riolu, Copycat on Eight!" She said. However, her finger was directed straight at the man. Riolu, the Riolu looked at Eight, and waved his paws through the air, snatching the residual fire chi out of the air and, combined with some of his own, used them to fire off a jet of flame at the hulk of a man.

Surprised, Kirk let go of Hawk, turned to meet the flames and took the attack with his chest. He didn't seem to be too hurt by it.. or phased at all!! What is this man?! "...Little girl. I tell you again." With his shirt ablaze, he took a moment to dig a cigar out of his pants pockets. Angrily, he snapped the top off and used the flames on his chest to light it. By the time he rose it to his mouth, his shirt and tie were all gone, revealing much more hair than was on the man's face. It was so much hair that it covered his arms and stomach... This man wasn't normal.. "The last thing you want to be doing.. is to be messing with me." With that said, he'd clench his fists and pound them together. Simultaneously dispelling the flames on his chest and spawning much hotter flames around his neck. Ohboy, this man was an Emboar Hybrid. "It's time that the hybrids of Castelia rise up and be known... we're better than you. Get over it."

Chirp, on the verge of tears, screeched again. She was just so caught up in the moment, her words were intelligible. A few seconds passed where she stood in place, her shoulders heaving. She was nearly blind with rage at this point, and the fact that Hawk and this Emboar Hybrid were looking at each other, then at her, and then shrugging at each other. She took a shuddering breath, then tried again. "If you're all about hybrids.... THEN WHY DID YOU KILL HIM?!"

See? I told you I'd get to it.

Hawk went wide eyed. This was why they were chasing him?! The Bartender is dead 'cause of this guy?! Hawk spun around to face the man, an unending rage overflowing inside of him. Thankfully, Five had pulled herself away from the fountain, and was now next to Hawk in all her sopping wet goodness. "...Five... We're going to kill this man." Hawk said solemnly. His Zangoose looked up at him. He sounded pretty serious, and the grim look on his face sealed the deal. Kill? Humans? Man, the most she'd ever done was hit a pokemon! But, it was what Hawk wanted... She waved her arms around, briefly summoning two Chi swords; She had used Swords dance to strengthen herself some more in preperation.

Kirk couldn't help but laugh. "You're not serious, are you, little 'babby'? Because if you are, then Graf Kirk will be getting serious too." His laughter grew wilder as the flames around his neck began burning brighter and higher! Still laughing, he kicked up off of the ground, launching himself high into the air. As he came down, flames engulfed him, making him into a hybrid meteor, coming down from the ground.

Hawk and Five barely had enough time to get out from under him before he smashed into the ground, sending rippling waves through the cobblestone walkways of the park, along with a plume of flame spreading out in every direction. Chirp let out a horrified scream! Was Hawk alright?! In the distance, inside the now empty Fountain were Hawk and Five, amidst several chunks of stone. "Riolu! Force palm!" Her Riolu lunged forward, hoping and jumping across the now severely uneven cobblestones. It was nimble, and quick! So he had no problems getting under Kirk's nonexistant defenses! He brought his palm forward, and exploded Chi out of his hand! It would have been a damaging attack, if it had been used on anything besides Kirk.

The man continued laughing, rubbing the spot where he'd been hit. "awww is it raining? I think I felt a raindrop. Togekiss, get rid of this bug." As he had instructed, Togekiss flew on over and slapped the mess out of Riolu with a clean-cut Extreme Speed. Riolu was sent spinning through the air. Thankfully, Chirp had returned him before he came crashing through the stones he was leaping on less than a few seconds ago. This man was just too powerful. There was no way she could handle this without Hawk!

Suddenly, a hand grasped her shoulder. "Do not worry, my child." said a very calming voice behind her. Chirp spun around and found Flip! He looked... different. In the time between them encountering each other on the bridge and now, he'd grown a small beard and was now wearing a long robe along with his jeans and "Ratata are awesome" T-shirt. He wasn't wearing any shoes, but his feet seemed fine. He walked passed her, navigating the stones like they weren't even an issue. Having been snapped out of her anger momentarily, she noticed that Helicopters were circling above them, and hiding in the nooks and crannies of various buildings were reporters and cameramen. This was going to be on the news?! The good part about that was that they couldn't show any faces without written consent, but it would be bad if she got noticed. At the same time, sirens were approaching fast. Chirp took this time to run over to Hawk. She grabbed the bloody pokeball in his hand and returned Five. She pulled him out of the rubble and began trying to get him away from here. He was bleeding badly, she needed to get him help.

Flip, with his priesty self, walked straight over to Kirk. The Emboar hybrid leaned down and extended his burly hand. "Ah, yes! You must be the pastor of the Grand Church of Arceus, yes? It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is--"

"Kirk Fiber. Emboar hybrid." Flip muttered, taking the man's hand and turning it so he could see his palm. Flip gently ran his hands along the lines in Kirk's hands. "...You've worked hard... dealt with a lot... but look what you've done." He dropped Kirk's hand and gestured at the crater they were standing in, at the rocks sticking up everywhere, and the water spilling out onto the ground "Do you think your actions are justified?"

Kirk's political smile faded instantly. "...Uh... I think so. " He said, straightening himself out. "Those children were assaulting me." He took a second to look at Flip. He hadn't noticed it before, but there were three yellow dots on the man's forehead, and although his eyes were closed, he could feel him staring through him like a hot knife in melted butter.

"...You're lying." Flip said. The reporters that had gathered let out a loud gasp. He turned around and walked back to Chirp. No.. this was someone different...

While Chirp had carried Hawk off to go get some help, Maia had wandered into the park. She had ignored the qualms of the line of reporters and had made her way over to the crater. There was a large emboar lookin dude, and... some.. some guy that seemed familiar. He just... just... looked so.. ugh...

---------fllllaaaaaaaaaaashbaaaaaaaaaaack!--------

"Oh wow, Flip... You're so cool." Maia felt herself say.

"Duh, he's Flip. You can't have anything cool unless he's involved with it." said the boy next to her. He was wearing a purple "Trubbish suck" T-shirt, and had teeny dreadlocks hanging off of his head. This was Hawk!

"Heh.. Guys, really... I'm not that cool. You just have to be yourself, and do what makes you happy." The Younger Flip said. At the moment, he was wearing white suit pants, and nothing else. His body was built like a lean stack of bricks, which explained why he was so popular with the ladies. At the moment, he was hanging upside down from a fire escape ladder, looking down at the three kids watching him.

"Haha, big bro, I'm gonna be just like you." Maia heard. The voice stirred up confusing emotions. the current her felt rage, while the past her felt friendship unseen outside of equestria! "I'm gonna be strong, and popular, and smart! Yeah! Then we can hang out all the time!"

"Heh, That's really sweet, Dean. But someone has to run pop's business. I hate to leave it all up to you, but I can't help but feel like the world needs me for something else.... But that doesn't mean I'm not here to help you. You guys too." With a smile, he'd dismount from the ladder and land with perfect execution. "I'll even let you in on a secret... There are people here. In castelia-"

"Duhhhhhhhhh. There are lots of people in Castelia. And pokemon too!" Hawk said, flailing his arms to get Flip's attention. Even when he was a kid, he was full of snark.

"Hmm, that's true, Hawk! Lots of people indeed. At the same time, not all of them are full people. They're part person, part pokemon. They're called-"

"booorrrrriiiiiing. I don't care if someone is half pokemon, half person, and half truck! I'm gonna punch em! Punch ALL the people!" Hawk cheered, turning to Dean and punching him square in the cheek.

Dean countered by tackling Hawk to the ground, and the two began to pummel each other with their tiny fists. Maia couldn't help but panic. "Flip! Stop them!" She blurted out, feeling herself move away from the scuffle.

Flip walked over and grabbed Dean by the back of his undies. With a Mega wedgie, he removed him from Hawk, set him down on the ground, then gave him a new undie-hat. Hawk got up, laughing at Dean's misfortune... that is, until he found himself with the same fate. "Now, will you two behave?" Flip asked. Hawk and Dean looked at eachother, their faces filled with the pain of the fight they just had... but then they smiled. Those were the smiles of two brothers who were just bumping chests.

"We were just foolin', Flip. Geez!" Hawk laughed, removing his underwear from his head.

Dean did the same, and began laughing. Maia and Chirp had forgotten how contagious Dean's laugh was. the little snorts in between each high pitched giggle just made you want to start laughing too!

...

Maia woke up in someplace different. It was dirty... and smelled like smoke, booze and broken dreams. The lights were out, save for the lone TV nearby. Her head and legs were in pain. What was going on? The worst part about this was that she could feel all of this, and had no control over her actions. She got up, and saw the fat man illuminated by the TV. Her dad... Micheal Bell. He turned and looked at her.

"...I thought I told you to get out." He grumbled. He sat back in his chair, and took a swig from one of the many bottles on the stand next to him.

Maia turned and fell. She'd slipped on the wet hardwood floor. Apparently, this house was nice at one point. But now, it had fallen apart. Maia felt her hands sting, there was glass and some kind of alcohol all along where she had been lying. Had she been hit by some kind of bottle? It was a stupid question, of course she had. She had messed up, and failed to dodge the weekly bottle. She'd just been so tired. Inbetween school, and her three jobs, there was just so little time to rest. She was too tired to move out of the way, and been hit. This wasn't the place to deal with her injuries. So, Chirp made her way outside to the faucet attached to the house. There, she rinsed her hands and washed off her head.

Frankly, Maia was appalled. Why was she putting up with this?! Almost as if it was on queue, she remembered thinking 'It's alright... He's just upset because he didn't win at the casino today. He doesn't mean it... He's a good person. I just... I just have to work harder. Frank needs braces, and Yvon needs her medicine...' The list went on and on. Maia couldn't help but feel... angry at herself. She was making excuses for a man who hit her with a bottle! He was taking her money and gambling it away, then coming home and getting drunk! If she was herself, she'd kill him! strangle him with a belt, and stab him with a knife!

"...Are you OK?"

Chirp jumped. Her and Maia turned to find Hawk and Flip looking at her. She could see the concern in their eyes even in the moonlight. Hawk came forward and looked at her head. "....I brought you a Castelia cone. We stood in line all day." He said. He held it out to her, but pulled it away once she reached up to take it. "..I'll hold it for you." He said, looking at her in the eye.

Hawk, ChirpMaia and Flip sat atop the roof of Chirp's home. The three of them enjoying the ice cream. Hawk had only let Chirp hold hers once she let him wrap his ripped off sleeves around them to act as bandages. "...I really wish you wouldn't let him hurt you." Hawk said. Chirp didn't respond. She just kept staring into the melting ice cream in the cone.

"..I know it seems like it's not his fault, but you really should do something. You've been running yourself ragged for your brothers and sister. The three jobs..." Flip said, gingerly moving her hair away from the cuts on her head. Chirp looked at him, astonished. "You're not good at hiding things, Tia. You didn't think we'd notice the falling asleep in class? How you never have any time for anything? The scars? We'd be pretty sh/t friends if we didn't notice..."

"...I.. I know.. but It's just.. I can't just let my family starve because of him. If there was something I could do, I would.. But they need me. Without mom, I have to be responsible for these things." Maia said, feeling like a punk for doing so.

"...Tell you what. I'm gonna offer you a job." Flip said. "I'll pay you 300,000 poke a year."

Maia was startled, as Chirp nearly slid off of the roof! "What! I-I can't! I uh! n..no! I'm sorry, I can't do that..."

"Nope, not a choice. You're already hired. The job is: Quit your other jobs and go to school. Focus on getting an education so you can get out of this place." Flip said, standing up on the roof and looking down at Chirp.

"uh I uh..." Chirp stammered. "But, my little br-"

"Don't worry about them. I'll make sure they're taken care of when you're gone. Just promise me that one day you'll leave."

Maia joined Chirp in her smiling. "OK. I promise."

---------unflashbaaaaaack!------

Maia saw Flip coming towards her. The recent memories having instilled a sense of love in her. Like the beloved grandpa, or the happy uncle. He came over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "..Hey Flip..." She said, still trying to get used to having control of her mouth once more. "What's going on?" Flip stared into her eyes. She could feel a pressure on her, like his very gaze was digging into her mind, then immediately stopped. His face reflected his confusion, but he set it aside.

"...Are you ok.... Tia?" He asked, putting an upward inflection on her name. He was unsure if it was her. He'd just seen her, and she wasn't wearing Hawk's clothes, nor did she have such long hair. Either way, her mind was obviously Chirp's mind. they had the same memories sort of. Flip turned around and walked back to the Emboar.

"I'm fine.." Maia was able to say before he walked away. What was going on? He looked so serious! Was this a bad time?

Meanwhile, Chirp had taken Hawk to a nearby pharmacy. She'd been able to buy enough over the counter things to patch him up. He didn't seem to be too hurt... just a few cuts here and there. So, patching him up was easy. All during the process, she had to keep ignoring the clerk's offers to call an ambulance for her.

Hawk awoke on the floor of a pharmacy. He got to his feet and looked around. "Where did he go?!" He shouted.

Chirp stood up with him, and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hawk, I appreciate your help... but go home. This is my fight. It's time I stood up for myself." With that, she pressed a few buttons on her Snag, and summoned Claydol. "Claydol, take Hawk home, please."

"What? wait, no! Chirp Don't do thi-" boom. Just like that, Hawk and Claydol were gone.

This was up to Chirp, and Chirp alone.

Back at the fountain, Maia, Flip and Kirk were standing around, forming a strange triangle. Flip and Kirk were standing on opposite ends of the man sized crater, which was made last episode. Maia was off to the side, watching the two men in confusion. For some reason, Flip had been in many of Chirp-- her memories, but this.. behemoth of a man was not. Was he a stranger? if so, why were Hawk and Chirp chasing him?

The tension in the air was growing unbearable. Everything had went silent, as a forced Zen seemed to have washed over the area once Flip had arrived. Maia felt really out of place. Like she should be back with the reporters and emergency responders. She needed some kind of comfort in this situation. So, she released Finn, her silcoon, and scooped him up. The pokemon enjoyed being held close to his trainer, so he kept the gurgles of confusion to a minimum.

"..Are you willing to face the punishment of your actions?" Flip asked, breaking the looming silence. His voice was like a thunderclap, echoing around the silent buildings.

"...I have done nothing wrong." Kirk said, the raised pitch of his voice dripping with the venom one would have when talking to someone standing on your toes. "It is the little ones that have wronged. Punish them!"

Flip closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Kirk looked around at the reporters and other people who had gathered and let out a low growl. This would look terrible for him unless he could spin this the right way. When Kirk brought his attention back to Flip, the man's eyes were open. As soon as their eyes met, Kirk felt a heavy weight pass through him, like someone had just run some kind of diagnostic rubdown on him... That someone must have been..

"Oh! Comrade, I did not know you were a hybrid! We hybrids truly must stick together in times like this." Kirk said, walking through the crater and up to the young priest. "I have not met with many of Castelia's hybrids, but I insist we talk about--"

"Kirk. Just stop talking." Flip said. He reached up and ever-so-gently rested his palm on the Emboar hybrid's stomach. The sound of a bell could be heard as suddenly, a very concentrated explosion of Fighting Chi threw Kirk back across the crater and across the street. The only reason the hybrid stopped was because he was sent crashing through the front door of "Bed, Bath, and Bagon". Flip calmly walked after him, following the two paths smashed into the ground by Kirk's dragging feet.

Maia nearly screamed when The big dude suddenly went flying. She'd never seen such power! Neither had Chirp! Well, Chirp remembered some bird man doing something with weird powers, but... to just touch someone and send them flying.... I mean, obviously it was just a critical Force palm, but to Maia and the other unsuspecting onlookers, it was a miracle of Arceus! The Priest's holy judgement!

Flip followed the man into the building, walking calmly through the rubble. Several customers were pressed against the wall, the shockwave from Kirk's arrival having thrown them away from the manbullet. Flip took a second to apologize to them, then to the cashier. "Tell the owner that the Grand Church of Arceus will pay for the damages." He said with a gentle bow. "Is anyone injured?" He asked. The customers looked at each other, then gave him a few murmurs of "we're OK..." and the like. With that, Flip continued following the trail of destruction. He found Kirk, the mammoth man was busy pulling himself out of a bedframe.

"That wasn't very religious of you." He growled.

"...I'm less of a priest, and more of a monk. You hurt one of my loved ones, and busted up a part of my home. All forgivable in their own right, but you refused to take responsibility. I've performed Mind Reader on you several times, and one thing that I cannot understand is... Why did you kill the bartender? What would killing one of your own do to help you?" Flip said, stepping over a display of Minccino pillow cases.

"... Mind reader... hm... well, I guess there's no helping it now. The little bar man refused my invitation to be on my staff once I become mayor. He said very mean things about me." a sick grin crawled over Kirk's bricklike face, as his tone took on a childish squeal. "He hurt my feelings, calling me a monster because of my beliefs.... He even tried to attack me! Using some kind of feeble Sucker Punch. He broke faster than I would have hoped. Like that little boy I put in the fountain. But no matter, I just have to get rid of you, and make sure this all goes down as a terrible accident." Kirk threw off the last bits of the bed frame and charged head first at Flip!

Then, everything slowed to a crawl. In a second, Flip analyzed and concocted a plan of action! Ohbaby, it was Detect! With flawless execution, Flip lived up to his name by hurling himself up and over Kirk with a graceful.... well, flip! When he landed, a quick spin allowed him to watch his attacker plow head first into one of the store's support beam. When the dust cleared, Kirk was hanging limp, his head stuck in a dent in the metal beam. Satisfied with the results, Flip proceeded to get the people out of the building, in case it came down.

Kirk would awaken several hours later in a daze. All around him, firefighters were trying to get him out of a support beam he'd been lodged in. Apparently it was delicate work, as they didn't want to hurt him, but they didn't want the building falling on them. Kirk looked out the hole he'd made. Night time. That blasted priest had sent him for a loop. He'd pay. He'd pay dearly.

A few hours earlier, in the present time, Maia watched Flip exit the building and perform a small prayer. The commotion was over, so the reporters and police seemed to wake up and start doing their jobs all at once. It caused quite a bit of chaos, as the reporters were trying to get a scoop, and the Police were trying to keep the area clear. They were so caught up with dealing with each other, that no one really bothered to bother Maia. The girl ran over to Flip, clutching Finn to her. "Are you ok?! Wh- What was that?!"

Flip looked at her, a steely intensity in his eye. "...I know." was all he said. He just kept staring at her. Trying to see how she was going to react to the information. Given what just happened to the last guy who tried to lie to him, Flip was sure she wasn't about to take any chances.

"....Ok, uhm.. Can we just.. not talk about this here?" Maia asked. Finn gurgled happily, obviously missing the tension in the air. He just liked attention. Anyway, Maia and Flip began to leave. The crowds split before Flip, even though reporters were asking him questions as they moved.

[hosnap this is getting long. I'm lovin it.]

With Clenched fists, Chirp told the shopkeeper for the final time that, no, she did not want to call the police, or an ambulance, or her parents. "Just leave me alone!" she yelled at the guy before storming outside. A quick glance around told her that she might be too late to get back to the fountain. She had to find some way to get at that man. Chirp took a second to think about what had happened earlier. Maybe something he had said...said...said..

wobblewobblewobbleflaaaaaashbaaaaaackwobblewobblewobble....

Time was of the essence. Chirp had gotten a call from an old friend, who told her that Brakes was in some kind of trouble. Brakes was the Zorua hybrid bartender that was mentioned earlier. The man never really told anyone his real name. To his customers, he was 'The bartender', but to his close friends, he was always Brakes. Anyway, Chirp and Hawk had rushed on over to the Cafe as soon as they got to Castelia. The weirdest part was... nothing was wrong.

Brakes was behind the bar, cleaning glasses like usual. The place had its usual amount of midday customers, ranging from hipster teens drinking virgin drinks, and old sailors getting hammered over fishing stories. It had brought back memories...

Chirp walked straight up to Brakes and tapped the bar. It was their sign of "we have to talk." Brakes, although surprised at Chirp's sudden appearance, smiled at her and asked those sitting at the bar to move. Like most of the hybrids in this part of town, everyone knew not to make him mad. So, they complied. "Brakes, I--" Chirp stopped, turning to look at Hawk. Brakes did the same.

Hawk just kinda shrugged. "Can I atleast get a lemonade or something?" His drink was quickly poured and given to him, so he walked off and took a seat at a table with some other teens.

Chirp turned back to Brakes. "I heard that you're in some kind of trouble. What's this all about?" She asked, leaning closer to avoid being overheard.

The bartender sighed. "I had hoped that this wouldn't be spread around so fast." He stepped away from Chirp for a moment to fetch a tall, blue bottle. It wasn't anything important, he just poured himself a drink and put the bottle up. "It's true, but I don't want you to get involved. Some guy came in and asked me to join up with some organization... something about rising up and taking over Castelia. Said he was running for mayor, and he wanted me on his cabinet. I... I've never been one for politics, so I said no." He took a break to sip from his glass. "The guy said he wasn't going to take no for an answer, and that he'd come back to change my mind. But don't worry, I've got pokemon, and I've got tricks up my sleeve, so I doubt he's gonna try anything. Just... promise me you won't get involved... ok?"

As if on cue, the door slammed open, and a very large man, who was known as Kirk for those of you outside the fourth wall. Tailing him was a smaller teen in a white suit. Silver sleeked back hair and a golden baseball cap. Oharceus,it was Dean. At one time, Dean aspired to be like his brother, but the influence of the business world corrupted him into becoming... well, a class A douchebag. Kirk strolled straight up to the bar, with Dean close behind.

"I have come to help you reconsider." Kirk said, motioning for Dean to come forward. Like a good little lackey, he came around and plopped a suitcase on the bar. with two simple clicks, the case flew open, and Chirp was nearly blinded as an obscene amount of gold caught the light. This wasn't poke, or even some foreign money. It was pure gold ingots. "Please, take this as a token of our new partnership."

Brakes sighed and straightened up. "Look, really, I'm flattered. But I'm not going to be a part of some revolution. All I need is here. and I'm happy."

Kirk frowned. with a sigh, he waved Dean away. The boy closed the case and sped off out of the bar, as if he knew what was going on. Chirp narrowed her eyes at him. He hadn't even say hi. she caught the smell of cigar smoke, and she turned just in time to see a fist come whizzing passed her face, missing by mere inches. It connected with a loud WHAM, and a loud crash came afterwards.

Chirp shot to her feet, and looked behind the counter. The rows of drinks had been reduced to shattered glass, spilled alcohol and blood. Brakes lay in a crumpled heap on the ground, blood covering up his face. She screamed. turning her attention to Kirk, who was fixing his clothes like nothing was wrong. Brakes was... dead.

Hawk screamed something from across the room, then a Shadowball slammed into Kirk's back. Chirp stumbled away to get clear of the smoke. She coudln't control herself! She just released her Milotic and screamed "Ice Beam!" The ensuing battle wasn't very spectacular for them. Kirk's Togekiss dominated them, knocking away their attacks and pounding their pokemon like they were rag dolls. The whole thing was a blur to chirp. Next thing she knew, they were headed outside, only Hawk's Chandelure was left standing.

OHSNAP. SNAP RIGHT OUTA THAT FLASHBACK, YALL.

"Dean!!" Chirp growled. He'd been there with that dumb manhulktank. He must have some kind of connection to all this. There were only two places that spoiled jerka// would be. Either at home, or at work. Knowing him, he'd probably skipped work to hang out with that monster, and was now cowering in his stupid little estate. Chirp took off in its direction immediately.

She was racing down streets, taking corners at speeds that would probably make racing children cry out in astonishment! She was dead set on intercepting Dean before he moved again. He was going to get the interrogation of his life. There'd be slamming against walls, pulling nails, knocking teeth out, breaking limbs! There was no end to her rage! Giratina lane, just the street she was looking for! She sped around the corner, and ran straight first into someone!

Chirp stumbled backwards, rubbing her face. The entirety of the front of her head was hurting, as if she'd run into someone with the exact facial dimensions as her. She opened her eyes and stared at herself.

Maia and Flip were walking down the street in silence. They'd stopped at Flip's old home for a quick check up on Dean before they left to go to the Church. Flip had been worried about his brother, and had come to Castelia for the sole purpose of visiting him. After letting him know they'd be back, they set off down the street. The two weren't talking, as Maia was organizing her thoughts, and Flip was invasively reading them. They were about to turn and head back towards the financial district when suddenly Maia came face to face with someone and fell backwards onto the ground.

Flip looked at the girl who Maia had run into. It was Chirp. His expression lightened up considerably, and he came forward to check up on her. "Chirp! Are you ok? Did Kirk hurt you? Where's Hawk?" He asked a barrage of questions as he checked Chirp for external injuries. "Oh man, your chi is all out of line. Here, let me...."

Chirp was looking at herself on the ground when suddenly Flip came and began questioning her. "I- wha? I'm fine I just... who--?" Chirp stammered, trying to see around her friend. She was just so concerned about the person slowly getting up... well, until she felt a gentle tap on her stomach, and the base of her spine. "Ohsnaaaaaaap" she sighed, feeling all her pent up anger just fall off of her. What was she doing here again? Obviously relaxing and falling over, because that's totally what she did.

Flip caught Chirp and stood her back up. Apparently, his Accupressure had worked too well. He took a moment to tally up his Chi usage. Well, he'd be alright if he just got some rest, but he wasn't about to show any signs of fatigue infront of Chirp and Chirp. Besides, how could he rest now, when this mystery was about to unfold!

Maia stood in disbelief. She was here, infront of her imposter. This was it, her cover is blown! Panic rose up in her stomach. Should she run? Maybe now was the time to finally get rid of her, once and for all! Finn gurgled angrily! He was right. Now was the time! "Finn, use Poison sting!" Maia yelled, pointing her silcoon at Chirp. In a flash, Flip was in her face, touching her Silcoon like it was a delicate flower. Instead of poisonous needles, a contented gurgle left the pokemon, as it relaxed completely. Even when he was knocked from Chirp's hands by Flip. With a single motion, Flip had disarmed Maia and shoved her against the wall. Beads of sweat were dribbling down his face, as if he had been running a marathon. He cleared his throat.

"A battle is one thing, assault is another." He said, bending down and picking up Finn. He handed the pokemon to Maia and glared at her. "Don't let it happen again."

Maia swallowed. She'd forgotten about how dangerous this guy had become. "I'm sorry..." she chirped. She instantly felt embarrassed. She'd performed the action that had gotten the imposter her nickname! No, it was HER nickname, but the imposter was using it! As of late, her thoughts about it had become so jumbled. The memories that kept bubbling up weren't helping. She always felt so... out of place in them. Like she was there, but she shouldn't be.

"...So, Chirp. Why does she have your face and memories?" Flip asked, wiping away some sweat with his sleeve. "I used Mind Reader on her and saw several moments that only you, me, Hawk and Dean should have any idea they happened. What's going on?"

Chirp snapped out of her euphoria. That's right! This person looked like her, except she was dressed like Hawk and had hair longer than Chirp had ever seen! What was going on?! "I.. I uh..." Chirp couldn't put a sentence together. What do you say when you bump into your clone on the street? Chirp thought back. Did she like... have an evil twin or something?! nono, that wouldn't explain how she remembered everything. "I have no idea. This is just so...sooo... amazing. It's like... looking in a weird Alternate reality. What I could have been, ya know? But even more amazing... because this means I have another little sister!!!" Chirp blushed and twiddled her thumbs. a mousy smile exploded onto her face, and she came over to give Maia a great big hug. "I can't think of what else this could be! Maybe my dad and mom had another kid like.. right after me, and something happened that they got seperated! Ohhhhh sis, I love you already."

Maia and Finn found themselves being hugged. If it was anyone else, Maia wouldn't have minded.. or... the Chirp in her wouldn't have minded. But this was the enemy! The imposter! The... The... For some reason, an uncontrolable sadness showed its ugly head in Maia's heart. Like... she'd been ignoring a hole in her heart. When Chirp finally pulled away, Maia couldn't help but cry angry tears of happiness. The Chirp in her was so jovial, yet Maia was such a bitter ball of anger, and neither side knew why!

Flip watched the event with mild confusion. To go from assault, to hugs and tears... man, this was messed up.

Maia sniffled a little, but managed to collect herself into a reasonable state. "Tia, I... I'm not your sister." She admitted. "I.. I'm your clone." As soon as she spilled the beans about that, she seemed to lose control of her mouth! more and more just came spilling out! "The clefairy from before... they... they made me. All this time I've been trying to get rid of you so I could be you. I... I kept calling you an imposter! All this time... It was me..." with a loud sob, Maia fell to her knees and wept.

Chirp listened to all that, and was seriously torn. Deal with her clone, or catch Dean? "...Listen, You're not an imposter. You're a Chirp. And all Chirps are real Chirps. Besides, an Army of me seems really useful, but useless at the same time." Chirp reached down and pulled herself up off the ground. (yeah, that just happened again. The identity puns are just going to keep coming.) She wiped away the tears and snot with her arm. Yeah, it was a little gross, but it didn't really count, as it was her own nose juice.

"Well... It's just me. I'm the only one. All the others went down with the ship." Maia confessed.

"Either way, I'm pretty sure neither of us is an imposter, Chirp." Chirp said, patting Maia on the head. "Besides, it's not like anyone could possibly confuse us as being each other, right? The only thing we share are our face, hair color, skin tone, eye color and voice!"

"I guess I shouldn't be using your nickname, then... Please.. call me Maia."

"Ok, Maia, So, if you know everything I know, then you remember Brakes, right?" She said, clenching her fists.

Maia seemed to space out for a second. Like literally. The color of her irises dulled and she stood as still as a statue. "Whaaaaaat the fuuuuuu-"

"OH! Brakes! Yes, I remember him." Maia said, nodding and snapping out of her weird trance like it hadn't happened. "I was at his cafe earlier, and it was all destroyed. What happened with that?"

"What? I thought you had my memories!"

"Well, yeah, only up until I was made, duh. It's not like I'm connected to you, nutbrain."

"Hm.. Well, I'll fill you in on the way. But long story short, Some big Emboar hybrid killed the shi/ out of him. I chased him to the fountain and he kicked Hawk's a//. Flip came so I got Hawk out of there and sent him to the HQ." Chirp squeaked, and looked at Flip. He was sorta... staring at them, bewildered. "I mean... I sent him back home..."

"..You do know that I can read minds, right?" Flip said, looking at Maia. "I know all about it from her, and I know why, and what, you do. It's methods that I wouldn't personally be a part of, but I understand. Things never leave the confessionals." He smiled at the two girls, and they smiled back.

"Well," Chirp began. "I remembered that when the big dude came and killed Brakes, He had a cronie with him. It was Dean."

Maia and Flip gasped.

"It can't be!" Flip shouted, looking up at the estate in the distance. "Dean would never be a part of something like this." With a renewed energy, Flip took off. He tore down the street like a bat out of hell. If Dean could only know the terror headed his way, he'd evacuate the woman and children before his ship came to a catastrophic end.

Maia twisted the collar of her Trench coat. "I mean, I knew Dean was a butthat, but really? helping someone get murdered? This is a new low. I.. I just feel so... So angry and this time, it feels right." She, too, took off after Flip. Speeding down the street with the same intensity as the hybrid headed in the same direction.

Chirp pumped her fist. This had just gone from 'lone warrior' to full on 'Three man army'. Well, 'An army, a girl, and her clone.' So chirp started running too. Man, she hadn't anticipated Maia being so much faster and agile than her. Up ahead, at the gates of the manor, Flip was already headed up the drive way, and the doors had swung closed. But that hadn't stopped Maia from flipping herself over them like a gymnastics champ. When Chirp finally got to the iron rods, she was kinda stuck outside. Frick! How to get in....? Unfortunately, she could only think of one way...

Chirp pressed the buzzer button and Dean's voice spilled out. "Who is it?"

Chirp, in the sweetest voice she could muster, said, "It's me, Dean! It's Chirp! I uhm... I wanted to talk to you. You know... about us." Ohman did she have to keep herself from vomiting while saying that. Either way, Dean obviously believed her, as the gates swung open faster than the windows on Bean burrito night back at the Bell household. As she made her way up the drive way, Chirp cracked her knuckles. Someone was going to pay today. They were going to pay with pain, and She's gonna be all "Do you have any smaller bills? no? Well we'll have to give you a lot of change... AND THE ONLY CURRENCY WE HAVE IS MORE PAAAAAAAIN." Ohyeah.

"Oh sorry, dearie. Dee went upstairs to freshen up.. I'm sure he'll be right down."

Chirp, Maia and Flip sat around a rather pristine looking glass table. For the moment, they were enjoying tiny cucumber sandwiches and lemonade. Ohwait, let me back up and explain something....

Chirp arrived at the door to the house, completely out of breath. Maia and Flip had waited for her, and were exchanging confused glances. "S...Sorry." Chirp panted. "I used up a lot of energy getting here."

"..I know the feeling." Flip said, digging into his pocket and producing a key! Just as he put it into the lock, a loud 'clack!' was heard, and the door opened. Inside was a nice looking old woman in a maid's costume. Flip gave her a small bow, and then a warm hug. "Good evening, Mrs. Applejack. I came back to speak with my brother again. He's still here, right?"

The old woman smiled and looked up at Flip. "Yes, yes, he's still here. He said he was expecting some guests. Please, come in!" She moved on inside the building, and the three of them went with her.

Flip didn't bother reacting to the house. Well... he'd lived here most of his life, so it was all normal to him. But Chirp regarded the sleek designs and alabaster colored walls with such.... envy. It wasn't the first time she'd been in here, but deep down, she always wished she could live in a place like this. "Hey, do you remember the first time we saw this place?" Chirp asked Maia curiously. Although Maia had said it before, Chirp was feeling skeptical of her clone's access to her old memories.

"Ugh, of course I remember it!" Maia said. Her voice shook a little bit, as she wasn't entirely sure if she was telling the truth. Usually when a place like this showed up in a memory, Maia instantly went into remembermode. It's not like she was able to just think hard about something and have it happen! Or... she could? She didn't have a clue about how it worked. "...But refresh my memory."

Chirp groaned slightly. Those darn clefairy should have done a better job! "Well, it was back when Hawk, Dean, and us were little." She began, gesturing to the high ceilings and the chandelures hanging in the air. "It had started raining and Flip brought us here...."

Maia was listening intently. She and Chirp had always been one to enjoy history, but learning her own history was even better. As Chirp went on about her doubts of the accuracy of her recollection, Maia found Chirp's voice becoming distant. She blinked....

---

...and opened her eyes to find she was in the same hallway, The Chandelure were replaced with several dozen Litwick, the walls were shining with a pearly glow, and she found herself in the company of young Hawk, Dean and Flip. She was soaked to the bone, and could feel her clothes clinging to her. Unlike the guys, she was.. kinda forced to stay in her wet clothes. Maia looked away as the rest of them shed their shirts.

"Hahaha, Chirp doesn't want to see our boobies!" Hawk shouted. Dean let out a soft chuckle and Flip joined his brother with the soft laughing. Maia felt Chirp thinking of something. It was.. a new experience, like something tickling the side of her face, but she couldn't turn her head. By the feel of it, Maia could tell that Chirp considered Flip's laugh to be less of a 'Big brother' kind of thing and more of a 'I'm putting up with this kid' deal. It was an interesting discovery. As far as Maia knew, Chirp had been friends with Dean until... er... well, until something happened that drove them apart.

The four of them continued inside. Despite the Litwick above them, the main room was still dark. Flip left them as they cleared the large archway separating the doors from the living room... well, what Chirp considered to be the living room. Soon, the room exploded into life. In the center of the room sat a large sphere casting off a brilliant light. As if hoisted by some kind of invisible string, it rose into the air and came to rest against the ceiling. The room was astounding. Everything was either as white as the undriven snow, or made completely of exotic furs and horns. At the far side of the room, a large pit in the ground began spitting fire out. It was some kind of fireplace, as the bulb gave off no heat for some reason.

"It's the latest innovation." Dean said, pointing to the bulb. Chirp took a chance, and looked at him. He was... scrawny. Not only that, but his pasty white skin was tanned in some spots, making him look... well... pampered. "It runs off of... uhm... something... but it's all the rage in Black City and stuff." The boy skirted around the couch... well, no, he had a lot of space to do it, so it was less of a "skirt" and more of a plus sized woman's muumuu. Dean disappeared behind a set of marble pillars, his footsteps echoing until he stopped or just got too far away.

----

Maia turned to Flip. "Where did he go?"

Flip turned to look at Maia. "...What?"

Maia blinked a few more times. She was on the couch, sandwiched between the fluffy wings of an Altaria. Flip, Chirp, and the old Maid were around her, looking at her with concern one would save for someone who just passed out.

"...You did that spacy thing again. I uhm... I tried to wake you up and you fell over... uhm, sorry about that." Chirp chirped. By the look on her face, Maia's original figured she'd killed herself or something.

Maia shook her head. "I.. I'm ok, I was just remembering junk." Maia took another look around. The room was... similar, but it wasn't the same anymore. The ball that had been in the center of the room had been replaced with a tall glass pillar. Like the ball, it gave off light, but no heat. Several thin lines of light lead to and from this pillar like circuits, all leading to different areas, and each set carrying colors around like blood. This was... trippy. "Is... this still the main foyer? It looks so different."

"It's had some improvements done." said a disembodied voice.

The Maia and Chirp looked around. what was going on here?! This place had always been... so advanced, too advanced.

Suddenly, Dean's face came onto the pillar, looking at them like he was a giant watching hamsters. His brilliant red eyes were literally the size of dinner plates, and his sleeked back hair seemed to be even more pulled back. His eyebrows were trimmed, and the white suit he wore just add a albino cherry to the top of this grotesque sundae. "Oh, Flip! You're here too? I thought you were going to--" Dean stopped as soon as his eyes idly passed over Chirp and Maia. "to..." He couldn't help but do a double take, then bring his face closer to whatever was broadcasting his image. They could see every detail of his face in detail so exact, they could make a map of the inside of his nose. "Uhm... Chirp? Is that Hawk? Why would you bring him if you wanted to talk about our relationship? Sorry, although she's almost as pretty as you are, Dean don't do three ways." Dean pulled away from the device, and straightened his tie. "regardless, I'll be right down." Dean turned and walked off of the pillar, leaving it as a blank, white centerpiece once more.

Chirp and Flip stood up, checking themselves and making sure they were ready for whatever was about to happen. Maia stayed in the grasp of the Altaria. it was just too comfy to leave!

Dean came back the same way he'd left during Maia's flashback. He was sauntering towards them with a wide grin. His crimson gaze went from his brother, to the back of Maia's head, then to his prey, er... Chirp. "Mymymy, what do we have here? You two look like you're ready for battle. Flip, if you'll excuse us, me and miss Bell have some.. business to discu-"

"Cut the sh-t!" Chirp shouted, cutting him off. "Tell me what you know about Brakes's murderer!!" Like a possessed acrobatic, Chirp leaped up and BAM straight onto her face. Yup, looks like she forgot gravity existed, and ended up tripping over the couch she was trying to jump over. Epic fail.

The crash scared off the Altaria, leaving Maia on the couch without a comfy pokemon hug. The clone got to her feet, and turned around. She could see Chirp picking herself up, and she seemed... ok.

"I... have no idea what you're talking about. Who's Brakes?" Dean said, sounding sarcastically astonished. His smile faded, and he took a few steps back. "Tia, here I was thinking you had come to your senses, but you and Hawk are just going to continue being a thorn in my side...." He took a second to walk over to a small cabinet, and proceeded to pour himself a drink.

"Dean! What do you think you're doing?" Flip asked sternly. He knew that the casual alcohol was stored there, and nothing else... So there was no doubt that Dean was drinking, even though he was barely 16.

Dean didn't bother turning away from what he was doing. "Hey, one cat getting out of the bag lets all the others out." With his drink properly prepared, he turned to face the three of them once more. "Yeah, I drink. I smoke cigars. Oh no! such a biiiiig deeeeaaaal. Now, 'Big brother' what do you have to do with all of this? You're on our side! Or... has Kirk not talked to you yet?"

"We've spoken." Flip said, walking around the couch and up to his younger brother. Before Dean could bring the glass to his lips, Flip slapped it out of his hand. The glass went sailing across the room, and smashed into a fine powder against the wall. Startled, the younger sibling scrambled backwards, only to find his older brother stepping closer, and locking his leg inbetween his own. Dean fell to the floor, and tried to crawl backwards.

Flip placed a firm foot on Dean's stomach and stared down at him. "I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I refrained from using my abilities on you because you are- no, you were my brother. But now... now.. you ally yourself with murderers." Flip put out his hand so Dean could see his palm, which quickly was engulfed in a light blue flame. "..You've been pretending to be someone you're not." The flames pulsed, glowing thicker and darker. "..You've been tainting your body!" The flames now obscured his hand completely, and had gone from blue to a rich purple, with red streaks occasionally flying out. "Not only that, but you've lied to me. Your brother, and a servant of Arceus. What say you?"

Dean stammered, unable to think of anything to say. He was looking up at the flaming hand of judgement, and didn't know what to do! He was just... so scared! He knew his brother was about to not-so-gentle-fist pound him into the floor with this one hit, but what could he say to change the outcome?! "..I'm sorry?" he squeaked.

Suddenly, Flip's hand flew downward, trailing the dense Chi behind it like a comet coming to wipe out the dinosaurs called Dean. Dean clenched his fists and shut his eyes, knowing that he was about to take an express trip into the basement. The burning palm was about two inches from making contact, when it suddenly veered off course, releasing the chi in a devastating explosion that tore the white floor asunder, spraying tiles and chunks around. The blast crashed into the small cabinet, ripping it to shreds, and ripping a gaping hole in the wall. The blast continued on, ripping the house asunder as it tore down anything in its path. By the time it dissipated, everyone could see straight through two rooms, the last one only having its contents thrown about.

"HOLY SH-T!" Maia and Chirp swore at the same time. They quickly clasped their hands over their mouths. If Dean was about to get that for drinking and smoking, what would they get for swearing?! Flip's dangerousness that day took a flying leap towards batshit.

It was silent for a while, except for the sound of Flip's heavy panting, and the sound of Dean flushing his excretory system. Flip turned and began walking back towards Chirp and Maia. "...Forgive me, lord. I cannot act against my own brother. I must request that your judgment be passed by another hand, for I am unable ." Flip's muttered prayers continued as the young man slowly walked through the hole he'd made. He... didn't get far before he fell into a chair, which used to be a full sofa, and let his head rest against the wall.

Chirp and Maia looked at each other. "It's up to us." they said, not feeling their recent acts of mimicry to be strange at all. And so they made their way over to Dean.

"Ugh, you stink!" Was the first thing Maia could bring herself to say. Before them lay the soiled, shivering remains of a wannabe villain. "Dean, Tell us. Who is this Kirk guy? Why is he killing people?!"

Dean's eyes briefly focused long enough to notice Chirp and Maia's faces. a shaking hand came up to point at them. An awkward smile came over his face as he began to wheeze. "You... You're the same! You're not Hawk at all!"

"Answer the question, or I'll get Flip to-"

"NO! NO, PLEASE! I'm sorry..." Dean cried, tears spilling down his face. "I.. I just wanted... He.. He said he could get me a lot of business! All he wanted was some start up money! I didn't do anything, I swear!"

"That's just it." Chirp said, walking around and kicking Dean in the side. "You didn't do anything. You knew what he was gonna do, but you did nothing! Now, answer my questions! What's he up to?! Where is he?!?!"

Dean whimpered a bit more. "He.. He.. overthrow the..." He was only able to get out so much, before the young pansy-- er, boy, began to sob.

"Oh will you grow a pair?!" Maia shouted, reaching down and picking Dean up by the collar. She hoisted him straight up, a feat that would have taken Chirp a considerable amount of effort. With his feet off the ground, Maia gave Dean a little shake. "Where the h-ll is he?! Tell us now!"

Dean began screaming as soon as he was picked up. It was... kinda sad to see his facade crumble so quickly, but nonetheless, he had picked his place. "At the docks! At the docks!!!! Last I heard from him, he was there!!"

Since they had what they wanted from him, Maia simply tossed him back onto his back. "Ok, I guess we're going to the docks to kick some Kirk dude's butt." she grunted, cracking her knuckles.

"...No. He's killed Brakes, and hurt Hawk. There's no telling who else he hurt, or how many more he plans on killing. We can't just kick his butt." Chirp said, looking at her hands, then turning to head on out.

"...Wait, he hurt Hawk? HE HURT HAWK?!" Maia screeched, tearing off after Chirp. If there was one thing she would not tolerate, it was someone messing with her man-- er... their man.

"....Oh dear, what was all that crashiiiiiiIIIIIIIIINNNGG?!?!!?" The old maid stepped into the room and stopped, the plate of cookies she was bringing hit the floor. Dean was lying in a pile of his own filth, there was a hole in the wall and Flip was KO'd! What had happened here?!
PostPosted: Sun Mar 18, 2012 12:49 am

"Chirp! Chirp hold on!" Maia shouted, running behind Chirp. They were storming down the street at mach speed. It was usually not a problem for Maia, as her physical condition was well above her original. But for Chirp, she was running on Rage and hot water. "Chirp can we talk about this?"

"NO!" Chirp shouted back, keeping her eyes forward. She was headed for the docks, and was showing no signs of stopping. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She knew where she was going. She knew what she wanted to do. She knew why she wanted to do it!

Maia kicked up her sprinting to catch up to Chirp. She reached out and grabbed Chirp from the back of her shirt, pulled her back and spun her around. Maia took a firm grip on both of Chirp's shoulders. "LISTEN TO ME." Maia said."I know you're angry! I'm angry too! This guy hurt Hawk. This guy killed Brakes! I know!! I just.. Think about it! Is killing him going to make anything better?"

"YES!" Chirp shouted, struggling against her copy's grip. "It'll make him dead! Like Brakes!"

Maia let go of Chirp for a second. Just so she could pull her hand back, and bring it across Chirp's face full force. The sound of the slap rang out through the street. Maia let the pain of the slap clear Chirp's head before she began talking again. "Listen. I know how you feel. Trust me. But.. Think about it. Have we ever been the kind of person to go around murdering people in revenge? No, honestly. Tell me, I don't know that part."

Chirp's face burned, a pink hand mark had imbedded itself on her face, and the only thing keeping her from screaming in pain was the unbearable urge to fall to her knees in tears. "wh... what do we do?" She asked, holding onto Maia for support.

"Well, we kick his a**!" Maia said, clutching Chirp and looking her in the eyes. "I never said we don't kick his a**. But we do it, and let justice occur."

Chirp wiped her tears away, and stabilized herself. "...y...yeah. you're right." was all she managed to say between sniffles. She turned and began jogging, Maia matching her speed.

Kirk stood in a line of other burly looking men. They were all piling boxes onto a boat that was getting ready to leave. He looked... angry, but the pursuing girls had no idea about this. They also had no idea about his plans! To go from paying bail to loading boxes, this guy had sunken pretty low.

"YOU!" Maia shouted, running up the docks towards the line. The sailors turned to look, wondering what she was shouting about. "I am going to kick your a// into next Wednesday!"

Kirk groaned, gingerly setting down the box. "Little girl." He said, his accent making him sound even more tired than he was. "I do not even know you."

"Like hell you don't! ...Wait, sh//t! You don't know me. WELL I know you, AND I know what you did to the Bartender. The Jig is up, and you're going away for a long time. Like a real long time." Maia announced dramatically. As she spoke, she gestured wildly, flailing and pointing and waving her arms to keep the attention of the onlookers, and attract the attention of those who could see them, but not hear them.

"Listen. I do not have time to play your silly little games" He said, sounding a lot more rough. It was apparent that he wasn't trying to put up any fronts anymore. "The little children of this rathole have already ruined my career, and my plans have changed." He turned away to pick up the box again.

Kirk was then blindsided by a Whirlipede slamming into the side of him at speeds that would rival the rotations of a motorcycle's wheel. The Pokemon rebounded high into the air, but the man was sent off the dock and into the waters below.

Maia jumped backwards, startled. She turned and saw Chirp, clutching a pokeball. With some careful aiming and a few drops of badassery, Chirp maaged to return her pokemon to its pokeball before it hit the ground. When Chirp made it to Maia's side, a hand shot out of the water, gripped the dock, and pulled Kirk up behind it.

Soaking wet, and angrier than before, Kirk could only bring himself to growl. If he wasn't covered in water, flames would be engulfing his entire chest, dripping down like blood. Thankfully, all that came off was searing hot steam, as the water on him was quickly heated and replaced with flames. Kirk began walking forward, cracking his knuckles. "I've killed once today. It won't matter if I do it a few more times before I enact my plans."

Maia looked at the other sailors. they were standing around doing nothing! "Uhm, hello! Just confessed to murder? Talked about doing more of it?!" It was now that Maia noticed the writing on the crates... it read: Danger, explosives contained within. Please handle car- blahblahblah. "You're loading explosives into a boat?! are you all insane?!

"Look at them, Maia." Chirp said, standing her ground as Kirk approached.

Maia did just that, and was surprised. All of them, to some degree were part pokemon. The closest to her had a vanillish ice spike sticking out of his head.

This man stepped forward. "It's time to take what should be ours! We're better than those people! We... We're better than you!" Thankfully, by the way they were all cowering behind Kirk, none of the others had any idea on how to use their powers...

"Feebas, Hydro pump! Spheal, Aurora beam!" Chirp commanded, not losing a beat as she released the two pokemon. They noticed the danger right away, and took the shots as soon as they could.

Kirk seemed unfazed. The attacks just seemed to make him angrier, and thus his flames grew hotter. He just kept coming.

It may have been Maia's imagination, but she could have sworn flames were starting to leak out of his nose and the corners of his mouth. She had to act too! "Finn! Poison sting!" She released her Silcoon, and held the pokemon up so it could fire off the needles. The chi needles seemed to stick into Kirk's meaty hide, but do nothing else! "Keep it up, Finn!" She backed up as she fired, just to keep the distance between them constant.

Chirp, on the other hand, stayed where she was. "Feebas! Use Twister! Spheal, Rollout!" Her anger had been focused. Her mind was clear! This was the pinnacle of her ability! She stood her ground as her Milotic began creating tornados, and her spheal took off to go slam into the behemoth.

Kirk grunted, flames firing out of his nostrils. He rose an arm. It quickly burned bright white, and with one large swing, He sent spheal back to Chirp with Hammer Arm.

Chirp dodged her spheal. That was all there was to it. He'd failed in his mission, and would be recovered later.

Out of all the moves, the Twister seemed to do the most damage. The winds stopped Kirk from moving, and the water it was picking up was putting out his flames! The other hybrids began trying to help. They sent fizzles and sparkles and tiny splashes of water and poison in the general direction of the battle... but of course, they proved to be quite useless.

"Gah, This... is... Child's play!" Kirk roared, blasting flames straight through the tornado, dispelling it. "Get the crates on the boat!!" he ordered, stomping closer and closer to Chirp.

"Riolu, come here!" Chirp shouted, releasing her Riolu. The pokemon yawned, then took a look at what they were dealing with.

"(You.)" Riolu said via a sharp, crisp "Lu." Without awaiting orders, he charged, coming at Kirk full speed! With a nimble leap, Riolu placed himself at chest level. Kirk tried to preempt the attack with Hammer arm, but mama ain't brutally train no fool. Riolu simply put his palms out and used a quick Force Palm to dampen the blow so he could latch on.

"What?!" Kirk grunted, swinging his arm around in an effort to remove the Riolu from him. The pokemon used this against him, jumping from one spot to the next, and generally free running all over the large man. Kirk kept swinging, tossing out Assurances and Hammer arms left and right.

Riolu placed himself on Kirk's back, right in the area the man could not reach. Here he was safe for the moment. Safe long enough to hatch another part of this plan. Riolu suddenly smashed a Force palm into Kirk's back and leaped off, knowing his attack wouldn't do much.

Kirk roared again, charging the Riolu. The thing he didn't take into account was that this Riolu had been trained to ignore being outmatched.

When the huge man brought a hammer arm down at the Riolu, the pokemon gave a quick spin, getting in close. So close that it was a simple matter to jab the side of the Hammer arm, and poke the man's belly. The Chi in Kirk's arm shot through the Riolu, and was redirected straight back into Kirk. It was counter! Well, Riolu's way of using Counter.

Kirk gagged, his stomach seemed to cave inward as soon as Riolu touched him. It didn't matter to Chirp. "Feebas, Help Riolu with Hydro pump!" Her Milotic let loose another jet of water. Which slammed into the doubled over hybrid and started rolling him back along the pier. "Riolu!" Chirp called. She hadn't noticed the Riolu was on his knees, panting. The effort of using the move had nearly taken him out of the game. "...Riolu come back and rest." Chirp returned the fighting type, and rereleased her Whirlipede.

Kirk gurgled something angrily as he flailed his way down to the edge of the docks. the other hybrids scrambled out of his way as he went head first into the water once more.

It didn't take long at all for Kirk to get back up on the dock. Once he finally got back on his feet, he looked up in time to see the main combat girl gesturing at him. He tried to see what she was motioning the feeling of ice made him stop. The girl's milotic had started using ice beam, and had only managed to hit his right foot! The thing must be tired already! The ice couldn't even stop him from dodging the Whirlipede that had come straight for him. "Ha! I-"

WHAM. SO MUCH WHAM. SO MUCH WHAM THAT I CAN'T EVEN COMPREHEND IT.

The last thing Kirk heard before passing out was the sound of his right ankle snapping out of place. The last thing he saw was a glimpse of the feet of the other hybrids, and the last thing he tasted was the metallic taste of blood in his mouth.

Maia stared in disbelief. Kirk lay face down, embedded in the pier while a whirlipede soared overhead towards the street behind them. Chirp seemed pretty satisfied, and her Milotic did too. Behind the defeated man was a sharp horizontal U. It had been used to catch the Whirlipede and use its momentum to slam it straight into the back of Kirk's head. It was connected to the dock by a thick sheet of ice and looped around so that it would dump the speeding pokemon straight onto the target. "daaaaaaaaayum. Can I do that?!"

Chirp quickly called the police and sighed. "All of you." She said, indicating the group staring at Kirk's twisted leg. " you're going to tell the truth in court. Or I'll be back, to tear you into little pieces, and use the pokemon parts of you to make modern art." She took a calming breath and began returning her pokemon. Once she and Maia were all prepared, Chirp took Maia by the front of her trench coat and summoned Claydol. They disappeared to the tune of the police sirens and some somber jazz.

Tier advancement mission 3

Objective:
---Go to the Whirl Islands and protect the shiny Dragonite's nest so it may hatch its egg in peace. Do not let Team Samurai disturb it. Should the Dragonite be angered it could endanger its self and its egg due to its increased age. Send Team Samurai back where they came from.

Opposition:
---Team Samurai, you will cross a minimum of four members, each carries at least three Pokemon on them at all times which their Pokemon now consist of ninja-like and samurai-like Pokemon along with Poison/Bug Types, all fully evolved (Examples include, Shiftry, Ninjask, Gallade, Scizor, Accelgor, etc).
---Their leader remains Takashi, the red scarf wearing ninja teenager, his Pokemon however seem to have gotten even stronger, his team consists of, Dustox, Wheezing, Shedinja, Samurott. You most likely will encounter him, I hear he too has learned martial arts and how to weild a sword.

Pokemon:
---You may catch one wild Pokemon in the Whirl Islands which consist of various Water Pokemon and the Zubat line.
---Or you may snag one Pokemon from one of the Team Samurai members, you may not snag from Takashi.
---You may not capture the Dragonite, you are trying to protect it so it may live the rest of its days peacefully, remember?

Rewards:
---Advancement to Tier 3, as an Alpha Snagger.
---Varies from there.

Hawk and Maia appeared at the Whirl islands. To be specific, They appeared on one of the rocks poking out of the water.... nowait, now even that's not entirely clear. See, what had happened was: The Claydol, confused by its... miscalculation? had dumped Hawk and Maia slightly off course. Not only were they a little bit above their destination, Maia wasn't even above the rock!

Hawk landed safely and looked at the islands around them, ignoring the scream and "sploosh" that came from Maia falling into the water. They were here to stop that Takeshi idiot... again.

Maia pulled herself onto the rock, soaked and angry. "Chirp! You didn't even try to... catch.." Maia looked around... Chirp wasn't even here! That devious, devilish damsel! She'd chickened out! Maia grumbled a few expletives before stepping up beside Hawk. He seemed... determined.

"I tried this once before." He said, looking out into the horizon, but knowing he was locking eyes with the boy. Him and his cronies would be on their way by boat. It was the only way, and they'd land by nightfall.

Hawk's memories
Hawk and Takashi stared at one another, the Bug pokemon around them watching as the two turned on each other. One and Zero took up position infront of Hawk, snarling and glaring at Takashi. Takashi released a Weezing to supplement the Dustox, and the two trainers stared eachother down. "Do you think... if we met under different circumstances.. We would be friends?" Takashi asked, looking down at his feet.

Hawk sighed. He knew that if by some twist of fate, they met when they were younger.... There'd be no difference between them and Chirp... save for the whole... going out thing. Of course, he'd denied it then. He was so caught up in the moment. Now wasn't the time to think about it. They had each made their decision.

Maia stared at Hawk. "..Weirdo." she said, taking a better look around. There had to be a better place to wait. There were several higher peaks scattered around, as well as the islands themselves. The only problem was the pokemon. Ohyeah, several pokemon had made nests here and there, specifically a rare Dragonite, which was perched in a crater at the top of a tall spire. Maia squinted at the rock formation. By the looks of it, it was a look out point for tourists at one point. It had an old dock, and stairs spiraling up. It even had rest stops and little areas to sit down at. It would have been great to go to. Unfortunately, the only visable way up was to climb about halfway up the spire. The bottom had been reduced to smooth stone, and the remains of a dock, by the tides. "Hm... Hawk I don't get what these guys are planning on. Do they think they can get this pokemon to come to them?"

"...No. Knowing them they'll have some way to scale the spire. At least until they get to the parts with steps. We'll have to cut them off before it gets to that. What pokemon do you have, fakeTia?"

"I'm not a fake." Maia retorted, turning around and trying to kill Hawk with her eyes. "I'm as real as Chirp is! Just.. get over it." Hawk didn't respond. He didn't look at her, or even acknowledge her. "Oh, Little Susie is mad at Tia? ohnoooo"

This seemed to get Hawk's attention, as he turned around. "You. YOU. are not Tia. You may look like her, you may sound like her, you may even have the same DNA. That doesn't make you any closer to being her than I am to being a Dewott. Now if you're not gonna help, just... just stay out of my way." Hawk quickly turned to look for a way off of this rock. Thankfully there were a few rocks that made a scattered path one could jump across. it wouldn't take him where he wanted, but it was better than nothing, so he started leaping away.

Maia sighed. It's not that Hawk's words had gotten to her that much. She usually didn't care since everyone seemed to treat her with such hospitality and suspicion. Then again, up until recently she'd been lying to pretty much everyone she'd met. She followed Hawk wordlessly. There was just nothing to say to him.

Nightfall. With the sun down, the stars out, and their position next to the spire, Hawk and Maia found some time to rest. They'd spent all day climbing, jumping, leaping and running. All without saying anything to each other outside of "this way" or "over here." Now they were left sitting level with the start of the remaining stairs with a flaming Chandelure between them.

They could see the Ninjurai camping out on their boat. Hawk and Maia would be lucky if their enemy didn't notice them. Then again, their luck hadn't been the best today.

"The tide should enable us to cross over to the rocks over there. We can head on up at dawn and stop them there." Hawk said, scooting around rocks and dirt to make some kind of more comfortable surface to sleep on. He'd.. never really needed to camp out much, so the thought of carrying a tent or something never occurred to him. Either way, he made due with a soft pile of dirt and the warmth of his Chandelure.

Maia, on the other hand, had the sense to bring a blanket. It wasn't much, but if she curled up in it,then she could stay reasonably warm. The heat coming off of Eight certainly made things more bearable. Maia couldn't help but slip off into memory mode as she went to sleep, catching climpses of Chirp's old room. It was a strange thing to experience, the flip flopping between fading images of the spire, and the small bed being shared by her siblings.

Maia awoke to the sounds of explosions. She shot to her feet, looking around. It was already day, and Hawk and Eight were gone. Inbetween her and the spire, however, was the ninjarai's boat. By the looks of it, Hawk had gone ahead with the plan, and was trying to fend off the enemy from the stairs. Gah! she'd overslept and messed everything up!

"Hank! Finn! let's help him out!" She said, getting up and releasing her Tepig and Beautifly. "Ok! Hank! uh, that's you, missy." Maia nudged the Tepig with her foot. "Use Ember! Finn use Poison sting!" Her pokemon got to work, Hank grumbling as she did so. Together, they let loose a spray of hot embers and poison needles into the crowded boat.

The enemy had already been huddled up and protected against Hawk's attacks, but when they were suddenly ambushed from behind, it threw the crew into chaos. Well.. Choas that didn't last long. Within seconds, Takashi had them under control and was issuing orders. They divided their efforts, deciding that attacking now was better than being hammered by both sides. And so several "pop"s rang out, deploying grappling hooks! Two on Maia's side, and three towards Hawk! The rest took the boat and drove off to circle around.

Maia braced herself, and she and her pokemon took a few steps back. It was... weird seeing these people. They were like ninjas in samurai armor. One even had a shogun's helmet on. As soon as they touched down, they drew their swords. "Fuuuuuuu..." Maia sighed.

Hawk. Hawk had been upset the moment he had woken up and saw Maia still asleep. Geez! Couldn't even wake up on time. Whatever... Hawk got up and took a quick swim over to the stairs they had originally planned to defend. A quick hike took him up to the nearby rest point, and he waited there. As he waited, he released Eight and the two of them had breakfast. Cheese, crackers and goldeen soul. The latter was for Eight, of course.

As he predicted, as soon as the sun cleared the horizon, the boat sped over to the bottom of the stairs and a gangplank slapped onto the stone. "Eight, Flamethrower." To Hawk's surprise, Eight seemed to cough. Instead of flamethrower, it had coughed up the flames it was going to breath out in one big ball. the fireball slammed into the gangplank and exploded, flames rolling around on any surface they could reach. Of course, this sent a few of the Ninjarai spinning into the water, but they chose their allegiance. Hawk rose an eyebrow. It seems he'd replaced his Flamethrower with Flame Burst. It seemed... appropriate.

Hawk saw Takashi push his way to the front of the crew. "YOU!" he shouted up to Hawk. "Don't you ever get tired of--"

"Listen." Hawk said, cutting Takashi off. Thankfully, the teen boy shut up nervously. "We tried this the easy way when we first ran into each other. I tried to help you guys live better lives, but you just keep coming back! Eight, Flame Burst!" Eight happily shot another ball of flame at the ninjurai. They scrambled out of the way as the shot slammed into the boat, scorching the floor and sending flames rolling around. "But every time... EVERY TIME! I... I...Flame burst!!" Another ball of flame came sailing at the group. This one caused the boat to rock slightly. "Frankly, I'm tired of it. I'm not saving you. I'm not helping you. Takashi, if you're going to keep doing this crap, I can't guarantee you'll going to keep living.." Hawk let the crashing waves fill the silence for a few seconds.

Takashi stared at hawk, frowning. "I never asked for your help, Hawk." He replied, his hand going to his side and he grabbed the handle of his sword. "Men! Get ready to- GHUK." Takashi stumbled forward as several poison stings slammed into his back. "Men! We're getting those scales. Let's go." He got to his feet. One of the others thrust a launcher into his hands and without further notice he fired the grappling hook and was making his way across to the stairs. Across to Hawk.

"Ok. Now really. Two big strong men against little ol' me? Especially with those nice strong looking swords." Maia said, watching them inch towards her, swords at the ready. They didn't respond. One charged, but quickly found himself being assaulted by a spray of needles. It was Finn! Flying over to provide some cover fire. Cover fire? Sounds like a need for some actual fire. Well Thanks to Hank your wish is granted! She spun around and shot some hot embers straight into the face of the attacking ninjurai.

Maia took this time to dash over and slam her fist into the guy's face, simultaneously liberating his sword. Now she was properly armed! "Haha!!!" She cheered, backing off and waving the sword at the two guys. The disarmed one took a pokeball from his waist and threw it, releasing a Gallade. Maia's upperhand was gone in an instant. Especially because the Gallade reached out and swiped its arm through the air, sending a large blade of psychic chi out. The attack effectively defeated both pokemon with one hit. It was... rather disappointing. Maia returned her two pokemon.

"Uhhh... hey! There's no reason we can't be friends, ya know. I do dig the whole.... samurai ninja thing. It's.... super fantastic." Maia chuckled nervously. There wasn't much she could do in this situation. Yeah, she could send out her Wynaut, but she knew she'd best save him for last. And so, with a mighty roar, Maia took off at her opponents. Sword ready!

CLANG!!

Her sword met the man's sword and promptly went flying up into the air. He seemed a bit proud of himself... except for the fact that Maia just kept running. He hadn't done anything useful!

Maia jumped, diving straight into the water. It didn't even take a minute for her lean, strong body to propel her over to the stairs. Once she pulled herself up, she looked over and saw the Gallade preparing to leap clear across. The two trainersamuraininja had sent out Vespiqueen to carry them across. Maia turned to run up the stairs when the Gallade landed, brandishing its fists. The pokemon lunged forward, and quickly became lunch.

Maia nearly fell back into the water when a sudden Gyarados had leapt from the water and took in the pokemon with a sick sounding crunch. In a matter of seconds, the two had descended back into the water. It was fortunate, but... really sad. Maia shook off the feeling and took off up the stairs, the vespiqueen on her trail.

Hawk awaited his foes at the start of the stairs to the next rest stop. They could go to this platform all they wanted, but they weren't getting passed him. It didn't take long for Takashi and his goons to arrive, swords drawn. They advanced wordlessly, prepared to attack. They had cleared half the platform when they were ambushed by Eight, dropping down and throwing a Flame Burst right into their laps. The explosion shook the air, throwing them in different directions. The two goons rolled back to the edge of the platform, and Takashi was thrown into the side of the spire.

Hawk sighed, watching the goons get back up, one releasing a Shiftry and the other sending out a Masquerain. Eight drifted over to line up for battle, and found himself joined by Twelve. This was a surprise! Eight hadn't seen the Dewott in quite a while. Either way, they had a battle on their hands.

Hawk sighed, staring down the opponent's pokemon. Eight was drifting around, waiting for the opportunity to attack. Hawk could tell that Takashi wouldn't be much of a problem at the moment. the guy was in a crumpled heap off in the corner. However, the guy was like a roach, and Hawk knew that he'd be up some time soon. "Best thing to do now? Get rid of these guys." Hawk muttered, digging into his belongings and grabbing a pokeball.

Hawk had added Twelve to the fray... well... nothing was going on, so let me rephrase. Hawk added the Dewott to the samurai style staredown. "I guess this means that my little speech didn't do any good, right?" Hawk shouted to the Ninurai.

Their answer? Various barks to their pokemon. The Shiftry and Masquerain took off, zigg zagging between each other like real pros.

"Let's do this, guys! Twelve, Let's attack with Razor shell! Eight, provide some cover fire with shadow ball!" Hawk commanded. He happened to glance passed the oncoming pokemon and noticed the two other trainers were gone! No, wait, not gone. They were circling around the platform, coming for him with swords drawn. Hawk dug through his stuff, grabbing two pokeballs and preparing for some close quarters combat.

Twelve grabbed his scalchop, instantly exploding a blade of water onto it. This was his first real battle ever since he was injured. Yeah, he'd had a minibattle with Dan's Bagon, but that really was in a different category. The Shiftry reached him first. Its hands were glowing green! It was Leaf Blade! The grass type swung its arms with grace, slashing at Twelve, and not letting up at all. Twelve was at a disadvantage. There wasn't much he could do against the two Leaf blades with his one Scalchop! He made do by dodging the attacks he couldn't block. Their fight was like a dance, with the bigger of the two leading.

As for the Masquerain, it flew straight for Eight. The Chandelure didn't hesitate. He fired off dozens of baseball sized Shadow balls at the other pokemon. Like a champ, the Masquerain wove in and out of the attacks, effortlessly dodging them! This caught Eight off guard, so when the Masquerain got in his face, the only thing he could do as he was blasted with an Ominous Wind was squeal angrily. Eight pulled himself out of the attack and got his bearings.

The Masquerain was coming for him again. Uhhhh yeahno. Eight flew forward, intercepting the pokemon's advance. There was a split second where The Chandelure could see the surprise on Masquerain's face. That is, before it was engulfed in an explosion. Ohbaby, pointblank Flame Burst. The Masquerain tumbled through the air, but righted itself before it hit the ground. Unfortunately that didn't do it any good. Eight zoomed up on it again, firing off another Flame Burst and blowing its opponent into the ground. "(No mercy! No Mercy!!)" Eight chimed, firing off Burst after Burst, pinning the pokemon to the ground with fiery explosions.

In the back of Twelve's mind, he knew he was fighting a losing battle. His moves were getting sloppy. He'd felt knicks and pinpricks where he hadn't moved far enough, or hadn't blocked well enough. The thoughts became a reality when he suddenly found his scalchop knocked out of his hand. Not a millisecond later, a Leaf Blade slashed him across his body, sending him tumbling. No Scalchop? Against a grass type? Things really didn't look good for him. From his position on the ground, Twelve looked over and saw Hawk backing up the stairs, two humans advancing with swords. He... He needed help! Twelve could assist him, but he needed to get rid of this Shiftry, first!

Twelve let his rage and regrets take over. He roared, forcing Chi through his arms! He got up, his arms ablaze with fighting chi. The Shiftry seemed distracted. Explosions were shaking the stone platform, and flames were spilling around like some kind of burning liquid. Fires had started on the Shiftry's back! Now was the time to attack. Twelve lunged, and slammed both fists into the grass type with a rage fueled Revenge attack. This caused the pokemon to fall backwards into the rolling flames, being engulfed in the repeating explosions.

Hawk had expected this. These Samurai ninja jerks weren't above cheap tricks. It was something that he respected, but at the same time, he wished he'd brought something he could use against them. He backed up, climbing up onto the stairs. They were advancing on him, swords poised to swing on him at any moment. One decided to be bold, and lunged!

KABLAM!!

There had been explosions ripping through the air for at least ten seconds. But for some reason, one in particular ended the stream and replaced it with a loud rumble and a powerful quake. Hawk threw himself to the wall, watching the lunging attacker go tumbling off of the stairs. The platform was collapsing, sending rocks crashing into the waves below. Along with them went three pokemon. Which means Twelve was now in the water. dang.

When the rocks stopped falling, Hawk took a moment to plant his hand firmly onto the face of the ninjurai and send him off the edge too. At the same time, he ripped the guy's sword from his hand. Great, now he was armed!

Eight, surprised at his blunder, swooped down and snagged Twelve before the Dewott hit the waves. It was the least he could do after disrupting the battle. Eight felt a bit weak. After taking that hit, and dumping all those attacks on the other pokemon.. he was feeling the effort it took. So, when he got the Dewott to the stairs, he allowed himself to drop down onto the ground and rest.

Hawk turned around and noticed his pokemon. Twelve looked singed and startled, but otherwise OK. Eight just seemed tired. So, Hawk returned the Chandelure. WAIT.

Hawk spun around and found Takashi awake and clinging to the edge of the cliff face. The explosion had tore a good 80% of the platform off, leaving a small walkway. Should he.. help him? Hawk looked at Takashi. Like the other minions... he chose his fate. So, this was it. Takashi kindasorta defeated, and the... the... well, the thing they were supposed to save was safe. Right?

Lolnope. Two Vespiqueen came soaring up from below, the gusts they kicked up threw Hawk against the wall, then sucked him up off his feet and over the edge. Now, In retrospect, Hawk would say that he faced the crashing waves with stoic abandon, but in actuality he was screaming. Yup, screaming like a little girl all the way down.

There was a bright flash, and then Hawk felt himself be yanked out of the air. "Oh thank Arceus." Hawk sighed. One had released himself just in the nick of time. Plus he had the mind to catch him! "Someone's getting extra hunting time when we get back."

"HawkHawkHawkHawk!" Maia yelped, each 'Hawk' coming with every step she took. There two men with Vespiqueen chasing her up the stairs! Thankfully she could meet up with Hawk at the platform, and then go from... there..

"awwwwwww sh/t" Maia groaned. She'd circled around to where the platform should be and found it was blown up.She'd heard the explosions, and now she knew what had happened... sorta. Regardless, her pursuers were still after her! She pressed herself against the wall and shuffled across, being careful not to step on the hands of the boy hanging onto the edge. She was tough, not ruthless... ok Ruthless, but she just didn't have the time! She crossed to the stairs and began making her way up. Hawk was nowhere to be found, and there weren't any more signs of battle going on. Where was he?

"Get on!" Hawk shouted from atop his mighty bird. He was reaching out a hand to Maia, who was running up the stairs. When she saw him, she looked confused, but hurled herself over anyway. With a hard flap, One moved out of the way, letting Maia plummet to her doom.

haha, ok. Not really. Hawk and One were laughing their butts off. The Bird's laughter was more of a jovial screech. He dove, snatching Maia out of the air and pulling up to get back on track.

"THAT'S NOT FUNNY!" Maia screamed, her pulse was quickened to a near heart attack level. She did notice that her pursuers had stopped following her. Perhaps they'd stopped to help the boy. Either way, they weren't there right now. Which means they were safe, right?

I really wish Maia and Hawk would stop asking that.

A sudden jerk to the right told Maia that something wasn't right. It was like they were taking evasive action! OHSNAP! Maia pulled herself into a ball in time to avoid a cloud of small bugs. Behind them, Four, (count em!)FOUR Vespiqueen and eight Combee were chasing after them! The pokemon had dropped off their trainers, who were now running up the stairs, and were focusing on attacking!

"Hawk?" Maia asked.

"I'm on it." Hawk replied. "One, Take Maia to the top." He said before letting go of the bird, and taking to the air.

The difference between falling off of a cliff and jumping off of your ride midair? The amount of awesome involved with each. Hawk put his arms out, resisting the air as much as he could. Now would have been a great time to whip out some airbending... if he hadn't put off finding that mountain Sub had mentioned. A simple glance up told Hawk that One and Maia were flying off around the spire, with the swarm behind them.

A glance downward told Hawk that he was quickly approaching the waters below. Don't worry, folks. Our boy Hawk has a plan.

"No I don't."

Wait, what? Did Hawk just respo-

"No. Anyway, delusional voice in my head, I don't have a plan. I very rarely do." As Hawk talked to himself, the suppressed panic obviously manifesting as a voice, He got out a pokeball and deployed Two, his faithful Lunatone. The Crescent shaped rock, obviously being the smartest of his team instantly used Psychic to catch its trainer and hoist him back onto eye level. "Thanks, pal." Hawk said, swiping the air a few times in an attempt to pat Two. "Ok. I need to intercept the people running up the stairs, ok?"

The Lunatone understood, and took off at full speed. It was... kinda awesome flying with Two. The pokemon seemed to have a weird link with Hawk, so at the slightest nudge, the pokemon would move Hawk in the direction he was motioning towards. Yeah, there were a few hiccups and misunderstandings, but they were corrected. The whole experience was like having the ability to fly. But Hawk wasn't in a position to enjoy this. (Although the same couldn't be said for Two. For himherit, it was like waving a doll through the air making whooshing sounds.)

Hawk and Two soon caught up to the Ninjurai. They had stopped at another one of the resting platforms. Why? Hawk flapped his arms once, signalling to Two to move him faster. By the looks of things, Twelve was blocking their path, threatening them with his glowing, red arms. Two flew over and deposited Hawk behind the Dewott before joining its ally in holding the people back.

The Ninjurai drew their swords.... well, the ones that still had them, that is. By the looks of things, they had sent out all of their pokemon, save for one of them and Takashi. Speaking of that little brat, where was he? Hawk scanned the crowd and noticed he wasn't among them. Hawk looked up just in time to see the boy turn the corner above them.

"Two! Take me up to that boy! Quick!" Like a pro hero, Hawk made himself as aerodynamic as possible as he suddenly rocketed into the air, then onto the same level as Takashi. "Ok, help Twelve!" Was the last thing he said to the pokemon before he took off.

As Hawk ran, One flew passed with Maia on his back. She was holding a blue thing, using it as a shield. Glowing gems were being fired at them from the Vespiqueen, and the ones that couldn't be dodged were being fired back by the... oh, it's a Wynaut. Ok, so Maia was using a Wynaut to bounce attacks back. Nowait, he needed to focus!

"Keep it up, Jack!" Maia Cheered, moving the Wynaut to block another Power Gem. The pokemon didn't seem to mind much of what was going on. He... really didn't seem to care about the mortal terror they were facing. He just kept on using his Mirror Coat and sending the gems back into the swarm.

Those Vespiqueen were actually more ninjalike than one would think. Through careful use of Defend Order and Aerial Ace, they were swapping places with their Combee followers, and avoiding being hit by their own attacks. Yeah, they were sacrificing companions, but it was obvious that they didn't matter. On the Off chance that one was hit, a simple application of Heal Order brought it back to full health. The worst part was: Their flying took so little energy compared to One. Birds have to roost a lot more often than a Bee has to stop flying.

Maia groaned. "One, we have to- EEP!" Maia ducked as a glowing, Attack Order propelled Combee whizzed over her head. One took this chance and slammed into it, gripping it with a Crush Claw until it die--- stopped resisting... One noticed that the lesser bees were... less durable than their queens, as if the most they were expected to do was be propelled into things, and take finishing blows from opponents. For all He knew, these things could be babies.

However, the attack slowed One down, and allowed their pursuers to quickly engulf them, the Combee remaining began swirling around them, using Gust in an attempt to knock the bird out of the air. Jack responded like he always does, and let loose a Mirror coat, blasting the winds back at the Combee with doubled power. Maia looked at the pokemon in her arms. The best thing about him was that he held onto every bit of his energy by literally doing nothing if his life didn't depend on it. He doesn't even stand when he has idle time. He either sits or lays down!

The winds hit the Combee, sending them falling to the ground like a collection of sacks of bricks. Their own move had been their downfall, but it served its purpose. They were once again surrounded. This time not by lesser combee, but by the powerful Vespiqueen. There was a moment where they let the fear wash over Maia.

"One.... what are we gonna do?" Maia whispered. Jack wasn't able to block their Attack Order. The chances of every single one using Power Gem were slim. The chance that Maia would be able to get Jack in place to block those were even more slim. A slight shake from below her caused Maia to look down at the bird she was riding. "One?" She asked the air. One had vanished! There was a screech, and Maia looked up to see one of the Vespiqueen suddenly be thrown backwards, as if it was being pulled out of the air. One had used Aerial Ace to start attacking! Maia cheered! Wait a second. If One was over there-

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

"OOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" Hawk shouted, pushing himself to get up the stairs faster and faster. Takashi was in sight, and getting closer. The boy turned and saw Hawk. a smug grin flashed onto his face as he suddenly whipped out some object. Hawk mistook it for a gun, so when Takashi pointed it up at a point above them and fired, it took him a second to register that Takashi was deploying a grappling hook. The hook latched, and Takashi took a leap off the stairs using the momentum to carry him around, and the machine's motors to pull him up. It was honestly a lot faster than running, but seemed to have a short range.

With a stroke of genius, Hawk jumped up and grabbed onto the grappling hook's line. With a sharp jerk, the hook popped out of its place. Hawk landed on his feet and with a simple motion, tossed the hook off so it wouldn't catch. The motion was so smooth, so awesome, that Hawk took a second to wipe his braids back and give the camera a thumbs up before he went to see the effect of his actions. Down below him, Takashi was looking up with fire in his eyes. He'd caught himself before he slammed into the stairs and ninjaly lowered himself down.

Hawk gave a loud "AH HAHAHAAAAAA!" As he made his way to the platform. Takashi wouldn't wait. He'd be there in a matter of minutes. So, Hawk took this time to get himself set up. With Twelve and Two fending off the minions, and One fighting off the minion's pokemon, that left him with Zero and a tired Eight. to fight off Takashi's pokemon. Hawk figured that Takashi would be carrying at least two with him So all he had to do was hold out, beat this punk's pokemon, then kick his butt. Simple.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Maia screamed, plummeting towards the crashing waves once more. 'If I survive this, I'm getting a flying type pokemon.' Maia thought. In a moment of odd clarity, she returned Jack and tucked away the pokeball. Maybe she was going to be saved by One?! Yeah! That must be it.

Oh Maia was wrong. Just so wrong. Out of the whole encounter, she'd be the third person to actually hit the water. Maia looked around, going a bit deeper to avoid being tossed around as much by the waves. The water was teeming with life. Pokemon swimming around in schools and colonies. She even spotted what appeared to be a Relicanth... or a pile of rocks and mud. A need for air brought her tour to an end, and as she broke the surface she noticed how dark the sky had gotten. It couldn't be anywhere close to 1 o'clock! Which meant that a storm had rolled in, and could start at any second. She had to get out of the water, like... now.

The swim back was difficult. The winds picked up, and made the waves stronger. For Maia's strength and durability, the swim wasn't impossible, just... it took a lot longer than it should have. Maia had just pulled herself onto the bottom set of stairs when a sudden wave shot up and snatched her back into the water. She scrambled back to the rocks and hauled herself up, gasping for air. Another wave rushed up and slammed into the side of the rocks. This time, Maia made sure to hang on to the stone. When the wave pulled back, she scuttled up the stairs and out of the reach of the waves. "Dangit, One! You dumb bird."

Speaking of all thing ornithological. Have you heard? What? You haven't heard? I was sure everyone knew that the B-b-b-bird-

"SCREEEEECH!" One cried out, making a tight turn. The Vespiqueen were on his tail, quite literally. All they had to do was reach out to pluck one of his tail feathers out. in a few seconds, the five of them had cleared the top of the spire. One could see the Dragonite in its nest of bones, stones, and branches. The nest made One a bit... sad. He hadn't seen his kids in how long? A year or so? One knew it was his own fault for trying his luck with taking a human kid, so there was nothing he could do about it. No... He could help protect this pokemon! For the children he left behind!!

"(No More Orphaaaaaans!!!)" One cried out, picking up speed until he was on the verge of using Aerial Ace. He soared up into the clouds, dodging lightning bolts as he made his way through the cloud cover. If birds could cry, tears would be streaking off of his face. Then he broke through. He was in the world above the clouds. One had a feeling that if his chicks couldn't find a way to survive, they'd be dreaming of some place like this. Innocent, untouched and endless. "(Not Now. I have to go back. To fight for you, my loves!)" One screeched, taking a nose dive straight through the clouds. He gained speed, going quicker and quicker, building up every single ounce of energy he had left inside of him. He was a rocket! He was a meteor! He was the flaming Armageddon that would be written about for ages! Bringing doom to all those below him!

Takashi had just arrived at the platform when Hawk saw it.

Maia had just gotten to the remains of the first landing when she saw it.

Two looked away, and Twelve's jaw dropped when they saw it.

A bright blue light streaked down from the clouds like a bolt of lightning. It didn't get too far from the clouds when it suddenly detonated, turning the blue bolt into a large ball of blue light.

Even while inside of his pokeball, Eight could sense it. The devastating amount of Chi that was suddenly released, and the faint wisp of life force that instantly flickered out, removing four other lives from Eight's senses.

It was One's first, and last Brave Bird.

Hawk took a moment of silence. He may not have spirit sensing powers, but he knew nothing could survive letting out that much energy without losing something precious. Hawk reached down and gripped the jacket secured around his waist. It was the key thing making him look like a Dewott. He pulled it up and stuck his arms into the sleeves. He zipped it up and put the hood up, and pulled it as tight as he could. He didn't want to be seen right now.

Takashi stared at Hawk, seeing the slow, careful movements. "Now you know." He said, pointing at Hawk. "Now you know the pain! Go, Ninjask!" Takashi released his Shedinja, and Hawk knew. He knew now why he called his shedinja 'Ninjask'. The key difference was: One wasn't about to come back as a shell. "Ninjask! Use Shadow ball!" Takashi's Shedinja gathered up a ball of darkness, and hurled it straight for Hawk.

Hawk didn't move. He just stood there with his hood up until the ball slammed into him. He stumbled backwards and fell. He lay on his back, watching the blue ball dissipate into sparkling trails of energy. "For you, my friend." Hawk got up, his jacket blown open from the attack. "For I have bathed in the light of your sacrifice, and I know." Hawk pointed across the platform at Takashi and his Shedinja. "I know. I know. I know."

Takashi stared at Hawk in silence. The only sound between them was the flapping of Takashi's dumb scarf, and the howling winds around them. "What's that supposed to be? Some kind of poem?"

"It's from a sermon I heard my friend give once." Hawk said, checking himself for injuries. He was bruised a bit, but nothing was too serious. "I can't remember it all, but I have that part memorized.... Something something, For I have bathed... I know, I know, I know.... something... Let no closed window lock the door? no... Something along the lines of: When one door closes, a window opens. So don't ignore the person opening the window." Hawk released Zero, his Luxray. She looked around and noticed there was about to be a battle! Plus there was some pretty thing in the sky fading away! She was oblivious to what had happened, but she could tell Hawk was being serious.

"See, my friend is a priest, so he's had to do funerals and stuff. He has this one thing he tells the kids so they cry.... I can never really understand it. Why would he ask them to cry?" Hawk looked up at the faint blue aura still lingering above them, and shed a tear. "So God may see that we've lost love. We loose this tear like a dove. Take this, dear, and have no fear. As we've paid the toll for you."

The two of them stood there for a while longer, Takashi allowing Hawk some peace while he performed his little sending off.

"I'm not very religious, but after all I've seen, I have no doubt that Arceus exists.... But...Heh.... The whole rhyme is pretty dumb, and it IS for Children." Hawk wiped his eyes on his sleeve and returned his attention to the red scarf wearing ninja wannabe. "So. Where were we? Ohright, I was taking you down a peg."

Maia made her way to the second landing. She was behind a small group of Ninjurai, all of which were shuffling around. They were focusing on something. Chirp stood on her tip toes to get a better look.

In front of them was a Lunatone and a Dewott. The Lunatone was using psychic to wield several swords. The Dewott was hanging back, keeping an eye on their opponents.

Maia stared at their backs. What should she do?

Well, Get violent of course!

Maia lashed out, shoving the person in front of her. He stumbled into the guy in front of him, and he did the same. The sudden motion amongst their ranks caused the Ninjurai to move forward. They were met with several blades and a series of Hyrdo Pumps.

Maia took advantage of the chaos and dove through the people. When she burst through the line, she was met with a katana flying through the air! A simple tuck and roll got her underneath the sword and back onto her feet in time to leap over the next blade.

Two must have recognized her, as the swords stopped coming for her. Maia didn't have time to stop and chat, so she rushed around the stone, and into the path of Twelve! The Dewott's eyes widened, and he took a breath! He was about to blast her with a Hydro pump! Was she going to go through the effort of getting back up here? pft, no. So, she threw herself into the air. Twelve watched her, his mouth full of water. Maia could tell from the way his face was moving that he recognized her, but was debating whether or not to blast her anyway.

Maia hit the ground with a mighty belly flop.

Ok, it wasn't the best execution of a plan she'd done in a while, but cut her some slack. Maia was growing tired! Unlike Hawk, she'd been running, jumping, swimming, and dodging all day without even eating anything. He'd had time to eat, and had ridden his pokemon around. Wait, no. Now's not the time to be thinking. Now's the time to be moving!

Maia exploded back onto her feet and up the stairs. Behind her, Two and Twelve were exchanging pokemon sounds.

"( On your left!)" Twelve shouted.

Two gave off the feeling that he knew, and swung some of the swords at the Ninjurai who were foolish enough to try and skirt around the pokemon.

Twelve pumped his fist, watching those humans scramble around to dodge the swords. "(Ok, now! Over there!)" He said, pointing to more of the people advancing. He was spotting for the Rock so it didn't have to worry about being snuck up on. At the same time, he was assisting with keeping the enemy back. If one tried to get around them on the side facing the open air, a simple hydro pump either sent them over the side, or back to where they were.

Twelve jumped a little as he suddenly got a feeling. A feeling that he should go on ahead and help protect the girl that just ran passed. That everything would be OK here.

"(Thanks, but no thanks.)" Twelve said, making little feints at the remaining Ninjurai, pretending he was going to shoot more water at them. "(Those bugs are gone, so there really shouldn't be anything between us and Hawk.)" Twelve didn't get a response, so he figured he must have won. However, when all the swords dropped to the ground, he knew something was up. Before Twelve knew it, he was rocketing up into the air, the Ninjurai and Two getting smaller and smaller until eventually, they were replaced with stone. That stupid Lunatone had put him up on the platform that had Hawk on it!

Feeling his energy supplies diminishing, Two began taking actions that would help satisfy his goals. Hesheit didn't care for Twelve's protests. Hesheit knew that Hawk would need as much help with the boss as he could get, so who better to send then the pokemon with seniority over all of them?

Hesheit had dropped the swords, and removed his only other source of assistance from the battle. So, the Ninjurai ran forward. Some went to get their swords. Others were coming after the Lunatone! If Two needed to breathe, this would be where he'd take a deep breath. Hesheit focused their energies, constructed a wall of Psychic chi and gave it a hard shove. The Ninjurai and their weapons let out a loud yell as they and their weapons were propelled off of the platform by an unseen force.

Two looked up at the clouds. The blue aura wasn't there any more. Two let out a tired feeling. A feeling of gratitude and sadness, then allowed himself to droop low to the ground. He wanted it to be known that although he would never have the bravery One showed, that the bird had been an inspiration. Well, not before, but now. Now he was an inspiration. Two touched the ground and let himself fall over. He'd used up his energy and needed a rest. So he'd allow himself to fall comatose once more, knowing he'd be back to normal once nightfall came around.

BOOM! Boom! Ba-Boom!

Zero leaped from side to side, dodging the Shadow balls that "Ninjask" were firing down at her. The fight was extremely one sided since the Shedinja was high in the air, and the only time she'd been able to hit it with one of her electric attacks, it just flew away like nothing had happened! What was going on here?! Zero took a second to look at Hawk. Instead of directing her, he was busy trying not to get cut with that sharp metal stick in the hands of the scarf guy. She needed help, dangit! Hawk must have someone else he could send out to help, if he just had some- whoops!

BLAM!

Zero jumped to the side in time to avoid a solarbeam. She was beginning to feel as if this pokemon wasn't really trying to defeat her with these attacks. It was like it was taking advantage of its position. If it pelted her with enough small attacks, it could wear her out without worrying about itself!

Ok, yeah, this wasn't fair. Zero took off towards the fighting humans, her mouth alive with electricity. She pounced between them, snapping at Takashi and pushing him back to his Shedinja, who backed her off with a well placed Solar beam. Zero fell back to Hawk and instantly began pawing his jacket. She knew he kept his pokeballs in there, and was trying to get one out!

Hawk stared at the Luxray as she pawed him. She just kinda saved him, and now wanted something else? She was specifically pawing the pokeball pouch of his jacket Maybe she was... calling for backup?! Hawk nodded, dug into his pouch and released Eight. The Chandelure seemed... tired, but still OK. "Eight, help Zero take down that Shedinja." Hawk said, waving frantically at Takashi's pokemon,

Meanwhile, Takashi noticed Hawk had sent out another pokemon! A two on one battle wouldn't be fair in the least bit. So,Takashi grabbed another pokeball and hurled it out, releasing a Samurott!

And that's when Twelve came flying up to the platform. Yup, it was miraculous timing at the hands of Two. Twelve looked up. He was alongside Hawk, Eight and Zero. At least he had that. If he was to be suddenly thrust into some kind of pokewar, the two pokemon he'd want at his sides were these two. They were two fully evolved walking powerhouses. They were striker incarnates. Across from him was a floating bug thing and a-

Twelve stared in awe. This was a Samurott? They... They were.. kinda ugly. As Takashi stammered a bit, and released a third pokemon, this one a large, floating purple gas bag, Twelve couldn't take his eyes off of that Samurott. He would be one of those one of these days. Which means that he has to kick this things butt now if he ever hoped to succeed in life. His main issue now? He had no scalchop.

Hawk and his team stared at Takashi and his three pokemon. "Looks like it's a Triple battle."

Takashi sheathed his sword, looking at Hawk dead in the eye. "Looks that way. Are you sure you don't want to do one of those stupid rotation battles?"

"Nah, I left the turntables back home."

Hawk and Takashi stared at each other, not even realizing their pokemon were doing the same. Each team had already figured out which pokemon they were going to charge at the second the fight started.

Eight knew he was sent out to combat this Shedinja, so he had his sights set on it. Zero was determined to keep that Wheezing away from the rest of the team. Twelve had his heart set on feeding the Samurott its own heart.

WAIT WOAH, MAN.

Ok, uh... Yeah. So they started fighting.... Dang, Twelve... you crazy.

"Eight! Flame Burst." Hawk commanded. It was the first move of the battle, and Hawk was determined to finish this once and for all. His Chandelure chimed happily and spat the ball of flame straight at the Shedinja. Pulling a page out of Eight's book, the Shedinja rose higher in the air, dodging the ball of flame. However, the ball slammed into the wall and exploded, sending flames rolling in every direction. The Wheezing and Samurott were caught in the flames, but it really didn't seem to do much to them. The Shedinja found itself plummeting to the ground the second a teeny bit of flame touched it.

"Isn't that what happened last time? It's like you didn't even learn that Shedinja sucks a--."

"Shut up! Ninjask is awesome! Samurott, Clear things up with surf!" Takashi waved his hand through the air. A subtle blush was on his face. Had he... Had he never heard Hawk's swear? Or maybe he was just not mature enough to think about hearing the word without giggling.

His Samurott wasted no time, and showed nothing but determination! It pulled its shell blade from its arm and gave the ground a sweeping slash. Water exploded from every point where the sword made contact with the ground, sending a tidal wave across the platform. To make matters worse, The Wheezing spat a large amount of purple gunk into the wave,

By how deeply purple it looked (and the little bubbles and chunks of debris), Hawk could tell that... well... that gas bag clearly just vomited into the wave. Party foul, man, Party foul. No matter. He just needed to get out of the way before he got thrown off the platform! And that he did! By taking a flying leap, and performing a less-than-stellar roll, he found himself out of the wave's way.

As for his pokemon, they didn't do as well.

Twelve charged the wave head on. He was a water type, and knew how to navigate the turbulent waves as well as any other denizen of the seas. So, he leaped and dove into the waves, and out the other side. He landed on his feet and took off towards the Samurott, slamming his Revenge covered fist into the Samurott's blade. That was... intended.

Eight saw the wave coming... but couldn't do anything about it! He was too tired to fly move higher. He didn't have the energy to blow it up or even sail through it. So he had naught to do but be hit and Knocked out. Eight was thankful that he could feel himself being returned to the comfort of his pokeball as his hold on the conscious world failed him.

Zero shouted as loud as she could! It was the roar of a lioness, ready for war! She'd been spared a lot of tiring activity, so she was full of energy! She charged the wave, and jumped! She let loose a spark and went head first, exploding through the wave with dazzling beauty! She landed, droplets of water catching the sunlight and causing her to sparkle. Electricity hopped from her body to any drop that came close! This was her moment! This was her victory! This was her-- COUGHCOUGHHAAAAAAAAACK.

Ugh, Zero didn't feel too well. When she burst through, some of the Weezing's Toxic attack must have gotten to her! No... No matter! She had to press onward! She gave another roar and used Charge before dashing at the weezing. When she got in close, the weezing gave two quick spins, slapping her in the face with a Double hit. She stumbled, and began circling the gas bag slowly, waiting for the right moment to strike. That moment... never came, actually. Once Weezing saw it was being circle stalked, It took in a deep breath and began building up a sh-tton of Chi in a very short amount of time. Zero's roars of triumph were now replaced with mews of fear! Zero turned tail and sprinted across the battlefied, provoking an opportunity attack from the Samurott. Go ahead, Takashi, roll a d20.

Maia stopped for a second. She could see the tops of pokemon and the lights of battle! "Almost there! I'll get up there and help out Hawk." She muttered to herself. "Wait. Any time anyone in any kind of media says their plan out loud, it always fails. So, have I doomed myself to failure by announcing my plans?"

Suddenly, a Luxray came storming down the stairs, followed by a Samurott, a Dewott, and two boys. They were shoving and fighting each other on every step! It was Hawk and the... uh.. other guy! "H-"

KABLAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!

The world shook as yet another platform was reduced to a crater on the side of the spire. Maia, as well as everyone else, was thrown about.

When Maia awoke to the ringing in her ears, she found that several cracks had spread along the stone spire. Some of the stairs fell out of place with low thuds. Everything smelled like exploded weezing, not that she knew what that smelled like. The other dude was on his feet, returning something from the dent in the wall. Hawk was getting up too. Zero was already on her feet, and seemed alert. The Samurott and twelve? Nowhere to be found.

Groaning, Maia got up too. The ringing was replaced now with the sound of rushing winds and thunderclaps. The storm she'd seen earlier was starting to come down. It was like the big blue ball in the air had held it back. Like nature was taking a time out. But now that the combat had resumed in earnest, it decided to join in too. Maia grabbed a pokeball. In had Jack inside, her only pokemon capable of fighting. He probably wouldn't do very good in this situation, but she sent him out anyway. Jack did what he did best, and flopped onto the ground.

Hawk, now on his feet, shook his head slightly. The world was spinning, and there were eight Takashi. There was a blinding light, and Hawk shut his eyes. He rubbed away the ache in his face and peaked out. Takashi was ready to battle once more, having released a Dustox. Maia had... uh.. sent out something. "Hey, fake Chirp. Is... Is that thing alive?!"

"Call me Maia." Maia growled. She took a deep breath before waving away Hawk's question. This was serious!

"...Whatever."

"What's wrong? Trouble in paradise?" Takashi taunted. He mimed making kissy faces and made making out gestures with his back turned. "You losers could be a couple."

"See, the ironic part is, we are a couple. Just he's in a relationship with the girl I'm a clone of." Maia called over to him. She folded her arms and glared daggers at this boy. "As much as Hawk was showing he cared for you, I might even think that you two are some kind of weird frienemies with intense sexual tension."

Takashi sputtered. "Wha- NO. He's just some kid that keeps getting in my way." Suddenly, Dustox used tackle on Takashi! Well, not really. The conversation distracted Takashi from the action, and Zero had used a well placed Spark to send the pokemon sailing into the trainer.

The Dustox flew back into the air, obviously angry. It let out a Psybeam, pushing Zero back. It kept up the pressure, obviously not letting up.

"Zero! Fight back! Use Spark!" Hawk commanded, but it was no good! She was pinned down by the attack! There was no hope!!!

"Wynaut." Jack sighed. Maia had picked him up and was now aiming him! He didn't care. He didn't care about anything, which was an understatement. So, when Maia hurled him through the air, he didn't resist. He didn't scream, he didn't even look where he was going. But when he felt himself touch the Psybeam, he farted out one of the only moves he knew: Mirror coat! The Psybeam seemed to double up on itself, and fly up in a high arc, coming down like psychic lightning! The attack slammed into the ground and faded away, the Dustox having dodged it quite well. Jack hit the ground, his face pointed at the Dustox. His counter... missed? A faint twinkle appeared in Jack's eye. Like.. something finally came to life inside of him: the urge to not miss.

The Dustox began dancing around in the air, building up an aura as it prepared to finish off Jack! Jack sighed. There wasn't anything he could do about the impending attack... except get out of the way, but that was out of the question. So, he reached out. Not with any arm like appendage, but with his Shadow. His shadow arm snaked across the ground, growing darker as it grew farther away. The hand at the tip of it came up off the ground and plunged into the shadow of the Dustox, connecting the two of them. The shadow faded quickly. Dustox let loose a Bug Buzz, the sound waves slamming into Jack and knocking him out almost immediately. It felt triumphant. It had won! Suddenly, a red and black arm shot out of the Dustox's shadow. It seemed to phase into the pokemon's chest and introduced a contained detonation to its internal systems. Ohsnap. It had just been pwned by a Destiny bond.

And so, Dustox fell, leaving Takashi defenseless.

Hawk returned Zero. She seemed sick and tired. Not the best position to be in when in combat. If Takashi found himself brave, Hawk could always use a revive or something! "So. You've got no back up. No pokemon left. What're you gonna do? Fight us with your sword?"

"...Yes!" Takashi drew his sword and took up a very authentic looking pose.

a loud crack was heard as lightning leapt down from the sky and onto Takashi's blade. Whatever his gloves were made up of must have been top notch, because they protected his hands up until the point where the boy literally redirected the energy through his blade and out into the sea. It was a true moment epicness for him. It even earned him awesome points from both Hawk and Maia.

So Takashi stood there, locked in position. His blade and hand were sizzling audibly. The blade dropped, and Takashi fell to his knees, cradling his hand.

"...So I guess you meant 'no'?" Maia asked.

Meanwhile, on another rock outcropping, Twelve and the Samurott faced each other.

"(Young one, allow me to ask you a question.)" The Samurott said. "(What is defeat?)"

"(That's a dumb question, fart bag.)" Twelve replied. He never was one for conversing. Plus, he had no time to waste. His arms could only withstand holding onto Revenge for so long before they would both give out. Then what would he do? Fight with his feet?

"(...Have you no answer?)"

"(...Well.. I guess defeat would be losing in battle. Can we fight now?)

"(Incorrect, on both accounts. Defeat comes from within. When we lose the ability to fight, or stand, or even feel. This is true defeat, and young one, we are fighting. True warriors clash ideals, not swords.)"

Twelve found himself staring at the Samurott. "(Says the guy who just sent a wave at me, and then tackled me off a spire.)"

This got the older pokemon to laugh. "(Yes, I admit I followed the orders of my trainer, and did indeed save you alone from the explosion....Tell me, young one. Why do you use Revenge? It does not follow the traditional path of swordsmanship.)"

"(One, I never did follow your stupid swordplay rules. I fight my way. battle fans are the way to go. Two, I use it to... to keep my arm up when I fight. I cannot move it otherwise-- GAH you've got me talkin' like you, geezer!)"

The Samurott sighed. "(I see. You use your frustrations to mask the pain, both literally and physically....Come now, we shall fight like you young ones prefer.)" He pulled his sword shell from its sheath, then flicked it across the rock so its tip stuck in the ground, the handle facing Twelve. "( You say you never followed the path of the sword. Now is a good time to start, if any. )" As he spoke, he drew the other sword from its sheath and stood up, wielding the sword with one arm

Twelve growled at the Samurott. It was so confident that it could beat him that it gave away its sword?! Twelve let out a guttural shout and gripped the handle of the blade. This weapon was about as big as Twelve was, and felt clumsy and cumbersome in his hands. Twelve had barely gotten the sword out of the ground before the Samurott was upon him, slapping the sword out of Twelve's hands with a razor shell faster than he could say "Ok".

Twelve, startled, stumbled back. For a brief second, the two pokemon just stood there. Then Twelve lashed out with Revenge, once again slamming his fist into the flat side of Samurott's blade. There was another pause, and then Twelve shot out a Hydro pump! The geyser sprayed Samurott in the face, but there was no reaction. Twelve stopped the waterworks and danced backwards, trying to put some distance between the two of them.

Samurott didn't come any closer. In fact, he barely moved at all. He just planted the tip of his sword in the ground and waited.

"(What are you doing?! We're fighting aren't we?! Come on! Fight!)" Twelve yelled, angered by his opponent. It's like he didn't care! Like he wasn't even... fighting.... Twelve let his arms drop to his side, and he looked at Samurott.

"(..... You must know that the moment you lost your head to the heat of battle, you had lost. You did not come at me with an even temper at any time during our fight, even before I secluded us.)" He said, sheathing his sword and taking a short walk to get his other weapon. Once he had it sheathed, "(Now that I have laid it plain for you, what is defeat?)"

Twelve shuffled back and forth, trying to make up his mind. Was he going to attack? Everything he'd done so far had either had no effect, or was blocked! He was tremendously outclassed..So he gave up. He let his arms droop. The red flames of revenge faded away, and Twelve sighed. "(Defeat is losing your head.)" He answered.

"(and Why is that?)"

"(....)" Twelve couldn't answer that part. He looked off at the roaring seas and the storm that was going on around them. The clouds were like he was. Angry, confused. They had no idea where the wind was taking them, and the only way they could let it out was--

CRACK!

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning leaped down from the sky, arcing down towards them. It only took a second, and in that second, the air was filled with the smell of Ozone. Twelve shut his eyes and held them closed. He'd been hit by electric attacks before, but never real, unpolluted lightning. When he opened them, Samurott's blade was in his face.

"(Your fear of the lightning made you close your eyes. It never intended to strike us, yet you cower at its approach. Tell me, young one. For what do you fight?)"

"(...I... I don't want to fight.)"

"(You young pokemon always-- wait, what? Ahem.. what did you say?)"

"(I said I don't want to fight!)" Twelve shouted, increasing his volume in an attempt to hide the blush on his face. He didn't bother taking any time out to recognize how that wasn't going to work. Instead, he just rushed through the rest of what he had to say. "(I... I want to dance! I want my attacks to be seen by friend and foe alike, and strike fear into their hearts, and awe into their minds! I want the rapids in my belly, and for any shell to be a Bisharp in my hand! I fight for the ideals of dance!)

The Samurott sheathed his sword, then laughed. "(I see you've come to a realization. Although it is... strange.. I respect your honesty.)" He turned away and began walking towards the edge of the rocks they were on. "(I cannot combat your passion, but I doubt this will be the last time we face one another. When we meet again, I shall bring the full force of my ways against you. I'm excited to see what you shall bring to combat it.)" And so, the samurott dove into the water and swam off towards the spire. Twelve quickly began swimming too, knowing that the way back wasn't going to be easy.

Hawk picked up the sword. It was very hot to the touch, so he didn't bother holding on to it. He just lobbed it off the side and watched it fall to the sea below. The winds were picking up, and the sky wasn't visible through even the thinnest parts of the cloud cover. These were bad signs. Hawk turned back to Takashi, who had curled up into a tight ball to shield his burning hand from the outside. "Takashi." Hawk called.

Takashi looked up at Hawk. He looked like he was on the verge of crying.

A few more bolts of lightning crashed into the sea somewhere in the distance. This must have been the breaking point, because rain started falling, quickly growing from a few droplets to raining thick sheets of icy rain.

"Takashi." Hawk called again, walking over to the guy. "Am I going to have to end you?"

"Hawk! Come on now. The dude's a class C villain at best! Save it for the Joker, Batman." Maia called, having to shout over the sounds of the storm. She made her way over and put herself inbetween Hawk and Takashi. "I mean, come on, dude. Come on. You and Chirp. Just killkillkill. Always wanting to kill people that hurt you." Maia turned around and gave Takashi a swift kick to the gut. "Hey, loser! If you like breathing, you should get out of here. Like... now. I doubt Hawk is kidding, and I don't think he'll listen to me for long."

Takashi coughed and rolled over onto his side. His stomach was in pain, his hand was extra crispy. He was tired and dirty and frankly, he just wanted to go to sleep. The universe was telling him to just give up. There would be other jobs! Was this one really all that serious? He pushed himself to his feet and began fleeing down the stairs. He'd gotten a few feet before he stopped, turned and looked up at Hawk. The two of them stared at each other. "This isn't the end!" Takashi shouted as he turned and kept going down the stairs.

"I know it's not." Hawk muttered. From above them, the Dragonite gave a mighty roar. It didn't sound angry, thankfully. It actually sounded... happy! What followed could only be described as the squeels of a baby, but they were hard to make out. "...I guess we're done here." Hawk said. He could see the Ninjurai's boat peeling away from the spire as fast as they dared to go in the storm. "...Thanks for the help, I guess."

"Guh. You're welcome, ya dumbbutt." Maia said, wiping her hair out of her face. She was soaked, and her insanely long hair weighed a ton once it was wet! "I need to get out of here. I'm going back to base."

Hawk turned away and walked down the stairs. He heard Maia teleport away, but he had some business to take care of.

Hawk met up with Twelve halfway down, and they seemed to catch each other's drifts. They needed to make sure. The sadness that seemed to engulf them. It wasn't their own at first. It's like it was being broadcasted. The only plausible explanation sat before them, laying on its side. Two.

Hawk returned the Lunatone, and ran some quick numbers. Two was here and just KOed. Eight was out, Twelve was beside him. Zero was up, just very dinged up. One... two.. three... four... "...One..." Hawk whispered. He put two and two together. Two had sensed One's thoughts. The feelings must have been so powerful that the psychic type picked up on them, acting as a broadcasting tower for One. Two knew what happened, and let everyone know...

So, the two of them stood in the rain for a while. Twelve waiting in silence as his trainer looked at the sky. The pokemon was upset, yes, but the relationship between the three of them was different. Suddenly, Hawk poked Twelve on the head. When the Dewott looked up, Hawk had a big toothy smile, and a weird look in his eyes.

"Twelve...Bet you can't guess if I'm crying or not!" Hawk sniffled. "It's honestly the only good thing about being out in the rain! C.. Come on! Let's go somewhere else! Let's do something fun!!"
