i would suggest human just because there might be evil characters in the party and that would not go over well

An aasimar can be any alignment, as you point out in your intro post. It's not the Aasimar that will have trouble with evil characters, it's a good character that will have trouble with evil characters. And there just as well might be good characters in the party as evil ones.

Besides, your "call to arms" is kinda asking for good characters
