The ninja sneaks onto the boat, into the captain's quarters, where he silently kills the captain in his sleep. Then, one by one, as the pirates enter to see what's happened, the ninja kills them.
And if anything goes wrong, the ninjas just throw tons of shurikens, rapid-fire, line after line through the pirates, followed by kunai after the pirates are injured. Let's see the pirates do that with poor-aim cannonballs.
Plus, Lanzer said that ninjas beat pirates. And his opinion>our opinion razz

pirate is cool and all, but the ones who are the true victors will always be the ninja
I like Zeldaphreak's scenario. I think that sums up the reasoning the best.
