any and all resident evil games mrgreen (W00T go ShadowLeggy! xd ) the silent hill games are awesome too razz jericho was pretty good
and as for something you play in real life you just need a creepy abandoned house or some thick woods at night, get some freakish looking rubber masks and some creepy sound effects or screams or something recorded and able to be played at anytime, and all the "survivors" get are tiny foam or rubber swords and a glow stick...and they have to stay separated. try that mrgreen

alright ya'll might hate me for this but, i really love the Devil May Cry series...
yeah, i know Dante's not a human trying to save humanity from some big bad virus of evil creatures but i love him just the same.. besides for me to love a game the character i play as has to be able to jump around. thats my number 1 rule in video and comp game playing. and we all know that Dante can jump. plus there are evil scary dead things trying to kill me so i would say its a survival game! wink

My favourite at the moment would have to be Resident evil 4 or Alone in the Dark: The new nightmare (Looking forward to the new one coming out blaugh ).
As for the Silent Hill games, I can't decide which ones my favourite.

Resident Evil (all) Silent Hill (all) Parasite Eve Parasite Eve II
there is another one that i had wanted to play (don't remember the name) from back in early 2002 son had borrowed it from a friend but i could not play it because i had just had heart surgery and it was so intents that it made those of my family that played it jump. the only thing i remember about it was that it was very dark and within the first 5 mins of play i was made to leave the room because of the start that i got when everything starting jumping out of the dark
will have to ask sons and hubby name of it so i can tell y'all

Rising Dead. Not much horror, but enough to make me jump! Gore is outta control on that one.

I have to say Resident Evil and Fatal frame.
I didn't actually had a chance to play them. I just watch my cousin play the game like a maniac every weekend. Despite that, I still loved those games.

I haven't actually played too many, but the genre sounds appealing.
I enjoyed BioShock quite a bit, as well as Doom 3 and F.E.A.R., if such things can actually be considered survival horror games.
I'm definitely looking into Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, and Alone in the Dark as games to buy in the future.

LycansTeacher Haunting Ground Fatal Frame Clock Tower 3 Rule of Rose Residant Evil Though Rule of Rose is only good about the first couple of times and Fatal frame still scares the shiznat outta me. Out of those two(or three how Im counting) are wussie protagnists >< Yes, I'd have to agree- though I'd also add in Fatal Frame 2 and 3. Clock Tower 3 was jumpy and surprising at first- but it kinda got boring and ish hard may I say? Though, I still wanna play Rule of Rose. I haven't quite got that game yet..But I was watching some parts being played and the girl seems very helpless. And weak at parts- especially when she gets hit or so... And haunting ground was probably the 3rd horror gam genre I've played. The characters that chase you- very odd but scary. Debilitas- was cary in the beginning. Till you defeat him, he seemed just like a child? But it was good overall. The rooms had an eerie look- which I liked a lot.
