Van jumped slightly, their quiet time utterly ruined by the mystery visitor before he looked down at Mala with a puzzled look as to who it could be.

Mala looked back up at Van and asked quietly, "Would you rather go up to our room and ignore it or see who it is?"

"I suppose we should see who it is. Knowing our luck, they might burst through the window if we try to ignore them..." Van said with a sigh, not ready to willingly leave the hug on his own just yet.

"Maybe. Let's just hope it's not another braindead door-to-door salesman." Mala replied with a soft chuckle, also quite reluctant to leave the bug despite the banging at the door.

((Hugbug! biggrin ))
Van gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before reluctantly letting her go to answer the door.

Mala went off to check the door. The moment she saw who was at the door she dropped her jaw in utter shock, just staring for a couple moments before the special guest decided to speak up.
Larai grinned broadly and asked, "Well, mom? Aren't you happy to see me too?"

"We were just talking about summoning you two back here!" Van said with a grin as he hugged Larai.

"Aw, you don't have to do that! I would've come on my own anyway!" Larai said with a broad grin, hugging both of her parents back. "Sorry I didn't visit sooner. I was making a killing gambling and I wanted to get something fancy for you both before I dropped by!"

"Well, that's one sibling present and accounted for. I take it Kai's off doing his own thing somewhere?" Van said, looking around outside the door to find no sign of him.

"He isn't with me at the moment. Chances are, though, he might turn up in a couple days or something." Larai said with a small shrug.

Van just shrugged. "Your mother can summon him if he doesn't. Now what's this about random presents?"

Larai let go of her parents and rummaged through her pack - soon pulling out a small and thin box for Mala and a slighter wider and longer box for Van. She handed them each the gifts and grinned. Mala's gift was a gorgeous golden amulet with a flawless ruby in the center. Van's was a similarly designed dagger with magical etchings on the blade. "So? Did I do good?"

"Now look what you did. Now I'm going to have to find some evil jackass to test this on and your mother's going to have a worry fit because of it." Van joked, though he really did like the dagger.

Larai chuckled, finally getting a good look at her mother now that she wasn't worried about hugs and gifts. "...Did I miss something while I was away?"

"I'd think the baby bulge would be obvious." Van said with a proud grin, wrapping one arm around Mala's waist to rest his hand on her tummy.
((Holy paint balls, Animeman! Expect monday and wednesday nights to be Zelly-less, as long art class is looooooong. @_@
*ponders possible plot twist for magically-etched dagger, as anything related to magic has potentional plot twistness*))
