One, long shower later and Apollo was starting to begin feeling back to himself. Almost. If he was being honest with himself, he was feeling a little.. lost, and without proper motivation. He knew he had to get things done, get back into actual training and earning gym badges, but honestly? He was just going through the motions of it all, and finding little enjoyment. Maybe it was a lingering symptom of his sickness? Or perhaps Cyrus ditching him, for the second time in his life, had taken a bigger toll than he'd yet to realize it?
Whatever the reason, Apollo, now dressed and dirt free, sat on the edge of his bed and began to make good on his promise of brushing out Mila's fur. Dislodging sand particles and brushing away any clinging dirt, the cleaning process was soothing, in its own way, and the bright-haired trainer felt himself lulled into a sense of methodical comfort. That was only broken by the, insistent, vibrations of his communicator. Apollo looked up from his task, conveniently ignoring the way Mila 'tsked' in disappointment, before he pulled his communicator up to eye level and read over the message scrawled across the screen.
It was from Zak, he'd almost forgotten that he'd been in contact with the man. Could he make his way to Icirrus? Thoughtful, Apollo pulled up a map of the Unova region to place his location and the, proposed, destination. It wasn't that far away, truthfully, and although it was a bit of a derailment of his original plans, he felt that he could afford the trip. After all, he still needed answers about Cyrus.

Mind made up, Apollo pulled himself to his feet and rolled his shoulders lightly. "There's been a change of plans," he explained to Mila, who was only now watching the man as he moved about the room, clearly getting ready to head out again. "I'm going to Iccirus to meet a friend." It was a strong term, considering he'd only really ever met Zak once and had inconsistently texted him since, but it was the easiest way to categorize him at the moment. "And what do you plan to do afterwards?" Mila questioned, the wariness in her tone warranted. "...I'll be coming back here, to get my gym badge." It wasn't the wisest plan, to backtrack such a distance when he could just get his badge now and continue forth, but when the Delphox scrunched up her nose and parted him with the most skeptical look a fox could make, he felt outright stupid.
"That's stupid," Mila stated, accidentally speaking out loud what he already thought. Apollo, instead of agreeing, offered a resigned smile while shrugging his shoulders. "This is important, and, besides, none of my team is ready to take on the next gym. I don't need to keep him waiting while I try to train them," he reasoned. "But, I can use this as a chance to get them ready while I'm heading up to the city. We'll, undoubtedly, run into a few pokemon or two." Mila, who refused to be swayed by Apollo's excuse to rationalize, crossed her arms. "Fine then, do what you want. But, I'm staying here. I wanted to find my trainer, not be dragged back and forth across the region." That would be torture on her feet, and, as she'd said it before, idiotic -- and she refused to take part in the trainer's rendezvous. "Leave your case, and whatever else you don't need, here in the room, and give me your room key while you're at it. I'll watch over it."
Apollo, while unsure of how he felt to be bossed around by a pokemon, complied with only a sigh; he'd admit, this was better than lugging all of his stuff around. After lighting his load of all his irrelevant items for the day trip, and handing over his room key, he headed out of his room and into the lobby of the Center. If he wanted to make it to Icirrus in a day, it'd be best to start moving now, and, who knew, maybe some time outdoors (not in a desert) would do him some good and lift him out of the funk he was in. There was some benefit to keeping optimistic. Apollo pulled up his map once more as he walked outside, head bowed for the purpose of memorizing the route he'd have to take. He needed to head into Driftveil first.
It wasn't long after Apollo left did Mila make her own appearance, outside of the room. Armed with the room key, and the determination to do something other than sit around in the bland room, she had plans to wander about the city and attempt two things: recover more of her memories, or find out more about her trainer, and find some semblance of entertainment that would occupy her for the next day and a half.

Scarlett snorted loudly and in a completely unflattering manner as MD suggested they take pictures once they finished getting all hot and sweaty from dancing. "What? Isn't that when ya're supposed to take pictures? That's how I've always done mine, lookin' like a hot mess." Scarlett laughed. It seemed she was thinking of the right game, saving herself from further embarrassment around this gaming king. In fact he complimented her accurate summation, looking rather proud of his ridiculous legacy. Scarlett loved it. She gave MD a long odd look of curious intrigue before laughing and shaking her head. "Ya're somethin' else... Y'know that?" She grinned. Not that she was only realizing it now, she'd gotten that feeling ever since they'd run into each other, but he was fascinating in a sort of fun and quirky, dumb and lovable way. Scarlett couldn't wrap her head around it, but didn't seem to mind. It only furthered the mystery.
She quirked a brow as MD dismissed the letters he used as a random combination he first used. "Consistency is key. Consistently win and use th' same letters have'ta agree with ya there~" Scarlett nodded sagely with a smile. Still, that seemed like an odd method, using random letters. Maybe he just wanted to remain somewhat anonymous.
Getting over her flustered feelings over MD complimenting her accent, Scarlett chuckled as MD suggested he'd just managed to compliment her the best. "Haha~ Maybe." She agreed with a grin, though she happily dropped the subject in favor of finding out more about MD. He thoughtfully admitted that police work was sort of the family business, at least on his mom's side of the family. "Well hey, a little rebellion is healthy, I think." Scarlett suggested with a smile.
After trying and failing to do well on the simplest level of DDR, Scarlett chuckled and appreciated MD's attempt at encouragement and not laughing at her before stepping up to show her how it was done. What Scarlett witnessed was hard to describe; it looked like a cross between tap and river dancing, if such a combination was even possible. "Perfect Full Combo!!!!" The machine announced, something that even a complete DDR newbie like Scarlett knew was probably something difficult and important. "Wow. That was..... Something." Scarlett laughed. Still, she was impressed. "Water sounds great." Scarlett agreed. She was actually parched and only forgot about it because she was distracted by MD at work. "Yeah! I would never have even imagined using the back bar like that. I thought it was just to keep you from falling off with all the flailing you had to do to keep up with the arrows haha~" So something new learned after all. She could check that off her list for today and feel accomplished, as well as attempt to put that new knowledge into practice should the notion strike her.
Walking to a nearby vending machine, Scarlett plugged in some cash to get them two cold fresh waters, handing one to MD. "Here you go champ~ You've earned it." She chuckled, quickly taking a few gulps of her own. "You still up for taking pictures? It's not too late to back out and prevent photographic proof of being a hot mess that will be preserved for all eternity." She suggested with a grin.

The arcade was too much of a temptation for Vandal to sit quietly in his confined punishment of a pokeball in Scarlett's bag, and so naturally the zoroark let himself out the first chance he got while the two humans were distracted. He still wasn't sure what Scarlett's beef with him was; she didn't even send him with the small hunting party running around to be her usual pack mule, so it seemed that he'd somehow been demoted to "I'm pretending you don't exist". Well that was fine. In the meantime he'd just make his own opportunities. After all, if she didn't notice he was missing and he was able to slip in and out, then no one would be the wiser and Vandal wouldn't be bored to tears. He took on the illusion of a stranger that Scarlett wouldn't recognize and began creating illusioned coins to trick the machines into letting him play, eventually growing hungry and leaving the arcade to get some snacks.
After devouring a chili dog, Vandal planned to go back into the arcade—that was until the visage of a certain familiar delphox stopped him in his tracks. "......Milla?" He breathed, quickly closing the distance between them. "Well fancy seeing you here dollface~" He grinned, taking her arm in his. Even though she wouldn't likely recognize his visage, his voice and nickname were painfully clear and he fully expected some cute and violent reaction, bracing his illusion just in case.

MD gave a hearty laugh of his own in response and would've probably slapped a knee if he wasn't in the process of moving or something. Instead he just pointed over his shoulder at Scarlett and gave her a flattering wink and grin. "You know it. Best time to take pictures; who needs that prim and proper business?" He scoffed, chuckling again as he resumed his proper disposition. He did miss the odd look the red head made his way but opted to do the friendly thing and not inquiry, instead he just shot her another wink and grin like the semi-overconfident soul that he was. "Well thank you~ You're a class act yourself."
"Obnoxious but consistent is the key to life," MD stated in a sort of affirmative tone followed by a sage nod. Because if there was anything to live by, it was a phrase like that. Obnoxious but consistent. MD remained focused as the conversation shifted here and there, feeling semi-proud at his claim. Not that he was out to fluster people, but it was rather humorous to think that a lovely seeming lady like Scarlett just wasn't used to a compliment or two. Of course, the conversation went to talk of family professions and his own little rebellion and he couldn't help but scoff a little. "Sure, sure. Always a lil' healthy. Until your mom gets that guilt trip going. Oi boy that's fun to deal with." His face squished up as he stuck a tongue out in a bit of disgust. That was not fun to recall honestly. Ugh.
Then of course came the real deal. The DDR deal. And MD did not hesitate to not disappoint and prove that if there was ever a title he would hold, it was Master DDR'er. Between pants for air, he gave Scarlett a grin, pleased that she seemed impressed. Because there was nothing more impressive than watching some middle age man perfect combo on a dance game. No really. "Thanks," he beamed, swiping a hand through his hair once more. "Yeah, it's a... a good tool to use. Specially on... on the faster dances. I try not to though. All the more skill." He teased jokingly.
He took the water Scarlett offered, tipping the bottle in her direction. "Thank ya," MD tipped the bottle back and took a long drag of water, clearly thirsting to death after that display of dance. Once he'd drained at least half of it he gave a satisfied sigh and smack of his lips, perking up a bit at the suggestion. "A picture to commemorate this moment? I'm game," he winked, taking another quick drink before heading to the photo booth. He tugged the curtain back, stepping aside a bit to bow a bit in Scarlett's direction. "After you m'lady."

Scarlett chuckled at MD's compliment. "Class act, eh? I like the sound of that." She grinned, raising a hand to her chin in a thoughtful gesture. "Is that so? I only heard consistency was key. Clearly I've been missing out on all the obnoxiousness I should be embodying." She suggested with a laugh, though she knew that wasn't true. She'd certainly had her streaks.
MD seemed to have a sore spot for the guilt tripping his mother gave him for not taking up the policing mantle. "Yikes. Though I guess nagging is kind of a mother's job." Scarlett shrugged. Not that she could really..... Relate. These situations were always a little awkward for her, but she tried not to make it too obvious she'd grown up motherless. It was easy enough, given all the stereotypical motherly behavior she could draw from, she just lacked the actual personal experience. Cassandra was probably the closest thing she had to a mother, though she was more like an older sister/mentor figure. "Isn't it going to be mother's day soon? Maybe you can call her up, try to make amends. I should probably call mine..." Scarlett rolled her eyes and grinned at the thought. Cat would probably yell and threaten to murder her in her sleep again for calling at some ungodly hour in Alolan time, but Scarlett couldn't be bothered to keep track of time differences and would make up for it by promising gifts. Cat was always a sucker for shiny things.
After the sporadic display MD put on for Scarlett to show her how the DDR king got things done, he seemed rather pleased with himself. Maybe it was the endorphins one got from working out, but then again MD seemed like a generally happy guy anyways. "Are there faster dances than the one you just did???" Scarlett gawked, having a hard time even imagining such a thing. She'd barely kept up with her own song selection, which wasn't nearly as complicated and fast as MD's. "You are certainly a man of many talents." Scarlett agreed with a laugh, insisting they go take their pictures after they'd rehydrated, now that they were sufficiently looking like sweaty messes. MD was good natured about it though, which wasn't surprising given their earlier exchange, and Scarlett ducked into the booth when MD pulled back the curtain.
The place was about as snug as the game station they'd been in earlier, if not more so. Or, at least it felt that way because they were both sweaty, making the air around them more stuffy and suffocating, but Scarlett could only laugh at the feeling. "Alright, should we plan out what faces to make, or should we just be spontaneous?" Scarlett asked with a chuckle, prepping the machine with a few coins.

"You know it," MD winked with a prideful looking grin at Scarlett’s suggestion, though catching the hint of jest in her tone at his questionable logic. "It’s a top notch art, being obnoxious, so don’t feel too bad." He couldn’t help but tease her on her attempts to sound as though she were missing out on some of the things he’d mentioned; after all, it was hard to believe that she was just not a troublemaker after the little stint at the ruins,
"Yeah," he sighed, absently rubbing the back of his neck as his expression shifted to… disappointment? Irkish feelings over something that this topic brought to mind? It was hard to tell and all too quickly he shook it off in favor of savoring the positive atmosphere that all the silly antics had resulted in. A grim snapped back onto MD’s freckled face, chuckling a little. "Oh is it? Boy, I better do the same. Mine would skin me otherwise I’m sure," not really, but it would’ve been nice if he could. Ugh… that made his stomach twist in a bit of a knot. He missed his family.
The sad thoughts were dashed as he went into pro-mode with the DDR, showing off skills that no man nearing 30 should be proud of. A cheeky grin crossed his face as Scarlett gawked over the thought of even faster dances. "Absolutely! I’d say that one I just did was mm… on the lower spectrum?" MD waved a hand through the air like it was no big deal, "There’s Japanese techno-pop that goes so fast your legs might burst into flames if you’re not careful. It’s crazy, but the best." In fact when he had the time, he needed to brush up on those songs to make sure he was still at the top of his game.
"Well, I certainly try," he teashed at her compliment on his many talents, clearly delighting just a little too much in the enjoyment the whole situation. He plopped down next to her in the booth once she’d climbed in, swiping his hair and sweat from his eyes once again as he considered the question. "I say spontaneous! The things I remember the best are the one’s I don’t see coming. Don’t ya think?" He mused, watching as she administered the coins and snuggling into the seat, readying himself with ideas on what to pull.

Scarlett nodded astutely, as if letting MD's "wise words" abut obnoxiousness sink in. "True that. An art form that you seem to have mastered. Would you be so kind as to teach me? I could use a mentor. Should I call ya sensei?" She grinned, though that was far from the truth. She already had an obnoxious mentor and her name was Cassandra. Speaking of which, Scarlett envisioned the woman when she mentioned needing to call someone for mother's day, amused at the idea of annoying her. "As she should! Know ya seem to be a little at odds given the choice in profession, but hey. Shouldn't burn those bridges, y'know? You might regret it later." A mirthless smile flashed across Scarlett's face, but it was brief and fleeting.
The next moment she was focusing on watching MD at work, a true pro on the dance.... Pad. She was pretty sure that if anyone danced like this on a dancefloor, they'd get odd looks. Still, the fact that the magician admitted the song he'd selected was easier than others was a jaw-dropping fact for a greenhorn DDR player like Scarlett. "Really?!" She'd tried not to be so surprised, and failed, but she had to agree that if there was a faster paced song to dance to on the machine, Japanese techno-pop would be the genre to do it to. "Alright, fair enough. The thought's already makin' my head spin." Scarlett chuckled. She could relate to the idea of feeling on fire from effort though. "I feel like there's a point in any sort of sport or exercise that gets to that sart 'a level. The burst into flames kind, I mean." She grinned thoughtfully.
Clearly liking MD's answer about spontaneity, Scarlett gave the man a nod and look of approval. "Agreed. You ready?" Scarlett thought briefly about some of the faces she could make and then the camera gave them a countdown between each picture to strike a pose. Scarlett started with sticking her tongue out and crossing her eyes, then gave a big grin while adding bunny ears to the back of MD's head, then sported a look of shock and awe as MD struck a dramatic pose. "Arceus, wait, wait, I'm not ready--" Scarlett wheezed as the last and final countdown started. She couldn't stop laughing, so she really couldn't do much of anything intentionally, so the picture snapped with her just holding her sides and smiling.
Now that the reel had finished, Scarlett expected it to print the pictures, but instead, it gave them the option to edit them digitally beforehand by adding filters and stickers. "What?! No way!" Scarlett grinned like a kid in a candy store, immediately flipping through some of the options and dragging some generic "cool" sunglasses over MD's eyes in one picture. "Yessssss. Oh, and we need sparkles on this one. Ha! I didn't even know photobooths did this now~" She laughed, adding a few star stickers here and there.

MD rubbed at his chin, a thoughtful expression crossing onto his face as he eyed Scarlett over her request to be taught in the ways of obnoxiousness; almost as though he were truly some defined master of the craft considering if she was worthy to be his pupil.
"Hhmm…. I don’t know…, " He remarked, eyes rolling and looking a bit doubtful before he burst into his own grin. "I mean you could can me sensei but I don’t think obnoxiousness knows a true master." He chuckled again and shook his head a bit a her comment, "Ah if only we could all be so lucky! I’m thinkin’ one day she’ll come around. Probably when I pull the ol’ dynamite trick. That’ll keep a family together," because nothing said ‘I’m looking for your approval of my job’ like blowing yourself up or something. All things considered though, he knew Scarlett had a point and finally gave an affirmative nod. "Nah but you’re right. Family bonds are hard to restore to once you break’em. Don’t have time for that," assuming they weren’t shattered already for him, given that he hadn’t spoken to them in forever. Oof, it was starting to hurt to think about.
"Does this face look like it would like to ya?" MD remarked with a wink at Scarlett’s shock. It was hilariously cute in a way to see such reactions from someone; most people did not take DDR all that seriously and those who did… were promptly looked at weirdly for taking it seriously. "Oh absolutely. They call it the ‘athlete’s high’ or ‘runners high’ for a reason. Great thing to have happen honestly, almost makes the workout worth it." He took a final swig of water, "Almost."
Snuggling himself as comfortably as he could in the small space, grinning cheekily at Scarlett. "You know it!" And of course with that, he buckled down and prepared his best picture facade. Which was basically just being goofier than he normally was. Honestly, it was a good thing Uriah wasn’t around because the Zorua would be having a conniption with him and his antics right now. Still, MD didn’t resist letting loose on the sillies, sporting a silly false macho look the first pic, his own tongue out at the camera like a kid the second and of course striking a dramatic pose only fit for a magician that apparently sent Scarlett into such fits he almost lost his cool himself. When the big reveal came that they could edit the pictures before printing, he couldn’t help but laugh at the over excitement the red head displayed, though he had to admit he was equally enthralled with the options.
"Oh man look at you. Makin’ me cooler than I am," he teased at the sunglasses were added, giving her a gentle nudge in the side before adding his own touches; applying some standard googley eyes and even framing some glow beams around the laughing Scarlett in the last picture with a grin. "There we go, I think we’ve excetuantated everything that matters right? What’d ya say we get these printed up, hm?" MD inquired and once approval was granted he poked the print button, pushing the curtain back to climb out before holding it for Scarlett to do the same, watching with a smile as the print ups spouted from the dispenser. Once both were free of the booth he snatched them up, taking a look at one as he handed the other over to her. "Well I think these are some damn fine looking pictures, if I do say so myself. I think the photographers of the world would be jealous." He joked, waving his own copy in the air between his fingers. They were certainly a worthwhile keepsake. "So madam Regina, was there anything else about that peaked your fancy? Nimbasa has so much to offer, I promise."

"Maybe I'll just call you sensei for fun then. After all, I'm sure there's still a lot you could teach me." Scarlett winked. "Dynamite trick?" Scarlett asked curiously, quirking a brow. "Is that an act you've been planning? I'm scared to ask." She chuckled. At least he agreed that he should probably attempt to preserve his family bonds. "Hmmm.... Daenno.... You magician sorts can be pretty tricky. Ya may have a trustworthy face, but them looks can be decieving. I aught ta know." Scarlett grinned back, rubbing her chin thoughtfully as if considering whether or not she should trust him not to lie to her. "They daen't call them devilishly good looks fer nothin'." She suggested, flipping her hair back haughtily.
They took to the photobooth and made their poses, and Scarlett was clearly enjoying herself more than she probably should. "Nah, just bringing out your inner coolness. Gotta have you looking the part, instead of nerdy magician." Scarlett insisted with a teasing blep of her tongue, giggling as he nudged her. "Googly eyes? Nice touch." Scarlett chuckled, dragging another star sticker onto the photo. "If by everything that matters, you mean everything in general, then yes." Scarlett laughed, letting MD finalize the pictures before scooting out of the booth to let it print. "Maybe we should have been photographers?" Scarlett suggested, grinning as she admired her copy of the pictures before putting them away in Dotty's Notebook.
As MD asked if anything else had struck her fancy, she smiled and hummed thoughtfully. "Well I think after all that dancin' we aught to feel the cool night air, an' the best way to get a lotta air in yer face is a super fast roller coaster, but I guess it be a bit late far them in't it? Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if all the coasters were shut down by neu." She asked suggestively, frowning in thought.

Vandal knew Mila probably hated all these nicknames, but he couldn't help coming up with them just to see her reaction. "Aw~ I mean, I like your name plenty, but what's wrong with a pet name or five?~" He chuckled. "Hmm... You say that like it's a good thing." Vandal suggested with a slight grimace. Getting recognized was not exactly something zoroarks wanted, but Vandal in particular knew that with all his time spent as Klepto's lacky, it was even worse if he was recognized. After all, his encounter/reunion with Scarlett had gone so well. "Oh, how gracious of you~" Vandal chuckled, bowing a bit as Mila decided not to burn off all of his fur. He winced slightly as his romantic vision was quickly shot down. "Not even my dreams? Must you be so cruel???" Vandal struck a dramatic pose, as if he would faint. Though in truth, the "cruelty" from Mila was more tolerable than the things Scarlett would do, something Vandal seized the opportunity to imitate and mock. "Heh.... Well... She has reasons not to trust me. My old trainer was a rival of sorts to her, and he wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world, but I did as he asked anyways because.... I didn't really have anywhere else to go. That is, until I tried to join my current master. She's not the best person either, but she has standards that I can respect. I just hope she'll warm up to me eventually and realize I'm really not out to get her. Y'know?" He explained. "Kind of like this other hotheaded vixen I know." Vandal smirked. Still, that didn't mean he wasn't more than happy to ditch his task of babysitting and join Mila around town. "Sure~ Sounds like a fun way to spend the evening. Almost like a--" Mila cut him off, insisting that he wasn't to consider this a date. "Alright, alright~ I won't consider the idea of this being a date." He promised. He would just believe it to be a date, no need for considering whatsoever. "Nimbassa's a slick town with lots of to do. There's roller coasters, a ferris wheel, an arcade, sports stadiums... Oh, and there's a nice theatre if you're feeling classy~" He winked.

Almost slipped up there didn’t I?” Of course he had no intentions of blowing himself up or anything; that was next tier magic and while he was totally ready to do it, it was probably best not to given his current situation. ”Oh? MD took in his own copy of the photos before carefully folding them up and tucking them away safely in his wallet for the time being. He quirked an eyebrow at the notebook Scarlett produced, pointing curiously. ”Oooo bit of a note taker? Secret diary? Very bold,” he joked, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Not that he’d go prying but it wasn’t everyday to saw someone pulling out a journal or notebook. Very interesting, maybe he should invest in such a thing.
The roller coasters, hm? He thought on that suggestion a moment; it certainly was the best way to get a little fresh air and the cooldown was a welcome… and he could use a little thrill in his blood. Yeah… he could dig it. He returned a devilish grin of approval in response to her suggestive inquiry, before giving a sweeping bow. "That sounds like an excellent idea m’lady. I wouldn't look so down, I think I've got a few connections that could make your wish come true," he winked and offered his hand out to her. "So what’d’ya say? Trust a magician on this one?"

Scarlett had to laugh at the idea of MD actually including "sensei of DDR" on a resume. "Padding indeed. Though for a man of your talents, I wouldn't think you'd need any padding." Scarlett insisted with a grin. As she inquired what his proclaimed "dynamite trick" was, Scarlett feared she'd offended him somehow, or asked something that shouldn't have been questioned as MD grew quite serious. However, he was soon laughing boisterously once more and Scarlett pouted, shoving him aside in frustration. "You...! Don't do that! Ya went an' had me all worried there far a bit." She couldn't stay mad at him though, and was soon laughing along.
Tapping her chin, Scarlett seemed to consider whether or not she would betray him. "I'll never tell, but mare swoozing couldn't hurt~" She teased, grinning and nudging his arm playfully before she stored their photos in Dotty's journal. "A'caurse. Magicians aren't the only ones to have their secrets y'know. A proper lady such as meself always has hers." Scarlett suggested with a wink. Of course, the journal in question was Dotty's research notes, not her personal diary, but for the sake of flirting Scarlett could entertain the idea of actually having a diary. "What about yerself? Ya've gotta keep all yer tricks somewhere, up yer sleeve perhaps?" She chuckled, taking a finger and tugging playfully at one of the sleeves of his t-shirt and ducking down a little as if actually trying to see if anything were there.
When asked what she'd like to do next, riding the roller coaster we definitely at the top of her list, but she figured they'd be closed by now. Thankfully, MD was on top of it, insisting that he could make her wish come true. "Really neu? That'd be a sight." Scarlett grinned, intrigued as to how he'd pull this one off. "Sure~ How could I say no? Get ta see a magician at work~" Scarlett chuckled, taking his hand and following his lead.

"I dunno, I rather like the ideas I'm getting~" Vandal insisted. "Stuff and nonsense my dear. You can never have too many nicknames." He shook his head, clicking his tongue. Mila was quick to quash his illusion of being with her though. "I don't know, you'd be a tough act to follow." He insisted, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. He probably could get over Mila in time, if he stopped bumping into her like this. However, it seemed fate was determined for them to keep seeing each other.
As Vandaal somewhat made fun of Scarlett, Mila actually seemed to take pity on his situation, which was kind of nice after not getting an inch from Scarlett."I don't know about that... She can blame me, and has.... And rightfully so.... I didn't have to listen to my trainer, that's why I eventually left him, but up until that point I.... Guess I was too afraid to leave and try to start a new life." He sighed.
Vandal chuckled as Mila commented he knew a lot of vixens, seeming to miss the point. "Heh.... I was talking about you, silly. I don't know too many vixens actually. You'd be surprised." Vandal chuckled sheepishly before giving Mila some options of things to do around town before she seemed to take an interest in the theatre. "Not sure~ Let's go find out." He insisted, offering his arm even though he was sure she wouldn't take it.

MD chuckled. "True! But it never hurts," he winked in, trying to repress another laugh that sort of threatened to bubble up at the thought. Maybe someday he’d just do that and see what the potential employer thought about it. He grinned at the pouting face he earned and the shoving that followed, smile softening just a bit. "D’aww I’m sorry," he gave her puppy dog eyes of his own in his slight plea of forgiveness, chuckling once more as it was clear there were no hard feelings. Good.
"Good, good… I think I can work in some more swoozing though, just to be on the safe side," he grinned, going along with the nudging. His gaze stayed on the journal and he made a fake attempt to step close and sneak a peek, smirking a bit and instead directing his gaze up to Scarlett once more. "Oh ho, secrets you say? You tease a magician with that kind of talk madam," he teased. Of course went along with her tugging his sleeve, moving his arm up just enough so she could peek, a grin on his face. "Nah they’re just a tad too short. I just keep my guns up there instead," he commented and taking his free arm, gave a little flex. Damn, was he cheesing it hard here.
MD’s gaze didn’t waiver as Scarlett took his offered hand, sly grin threatening to grow as he righted himself up from his bow. "Of course," he winked again, "try not to blink though." He tightened his grip gently, before turning and quickly leading the way towards the ride. There was quite a bit of ducking and weaving about in shadows, mostly for effect actually but MD wouldn’t admit to that, until eventually they came to a back gate area. MD took a look or two around before glancing back at Scarlett and pressing a finger to his lips to be quiet. He let go of his hold briefly, strolling forth and with some subtle looking gestures, managed to pull the pad lock free from the gate, pulling it open and ushering her through, following after once the gate had been shut. It looked more like the back part of the park where the roller coaster and rides resided and a little further maneuvering brought them right up to the front where you boarded the ride.
"Here, go on ahead and grab a seat," MD remarked, flourishing another little bow at the steps up the coaster. "I’ll get the thing running for us," he remark with a wink before promptly disappearing in the direction of the ride controls. What was he doing? Whatever it was, it got the ride whirling to life and quickly he was trotting his way back up and to the roller coaster, hopping in right alongside Scarlett with a grin.
"All set? We’re good for a loop around," he remarked, taking a moment to ensure everything was snuggly in place. Couldn’t have either of them flying off or anything now could they?

Scarlett blinked as MD gave her big puppy eyes. Arceus dammit, why was he so cute? Scarlett sighed and chuckled, waving him away dismissively. "Neu neu none a' that. It's alright, I just overreacted. Plus ya're one hell of an actor. I don't think I've seen you make such a serious face befare." She chuckled. Really, she knew exactly why she was so afraid of upsetting MD. After trekking through the conversational landmine that was Zak, Scarlett was habitually watching her step in every conversation, afraid of saying one wrong thing and having a nice evening blow up in her face. Now, it was like she'd forgotten what it was like to just have a normal conversation that didn't end in arguing over something meaningless, or falling into awkward silence. She needed to relax. MD didn't seem like the type to get worked up over nothing, as evidenced by the fact that they'd made it this far.
"Better safe than sorry~ So have ya always been such a lady charmer, or are you gonna tell me that all the king of DDR was once an awkward nerd like the rest of the boys befare they became men? Between you an' me, I wouldn't believe ya." She winked, closing Dotty's journal with an emphatic SNAP when she caught him "sneaking closer" to try and take a peek. "Tryin' to invade a lady's private thoughts? Tsk tsk. For shame. An' here I thought ya were a man of honor." She shook her head and waggled a finger chidingly at him as she fanned herself with the black leather notebook. MD insisted that the secrets were just too tempting, given that her talking about such a thing was a tease. "Hmmmm..... Well then, I propose a test then. If ya're a true magician worthy of these secrets, then try to get this journal from me. Ifn ya manage to do it, I'll answer any question that be burnin' in the back of that inquirin' mind of yers. Only one though." Scarlett suggested as she stored the journal back in her bag. "Or if that daen't suit yer fancy, maybe I can grant ya one wish instead. I doubt you'll get a similar offer from the djinni in that bottle a' yers." She smirked challengingly.
It didn't surprise Scarlett when MD suggested his sleeves were too short to keep all his tricks there. However, she didn't expect the cheesy line to follow. "Pfffftttttt......!!!" Scarlett wheezed, stumbling and falling onto the guard railing for the roller coaster as she laughed. "Oh my gods.... How did I not see that coming? I set myself up. Help...!" Scarlett continued her giggling fit for a short while, left in stitches as she held her sides. It wasn't even a cruel laughter, MD did actually have really nice, strong, sturdy looking arms; it was just the cheesy statement that had hit Scarlett so hard.
Taking a deep breath, she recovered and happily took MD's hand to let him lead her to her ride of choice. The fact that he could dismantle a complicated looking lock so easily was damn impressive, but the fact that he was willing to do so in order for them to have a little fun even though it was probably illegal was even more admirable in Scarlett's eyes. "Are we doing a B&E? I'm starting to think I've become a terrible influence on you... I like it." She winked, following him past the gate and nodding as he instructed her to find a seat while he got the thing started. Of course, being the thrill seeker she was, Scarlett took the very front car, waiting patiently until suddenly the ride lit up with life. It seemed her partner in crime had been successful, and he soon came to join her. "All set here captain!" Scarlett grinned in anticipation, lowering the safety bar over them both as the ride started up.
At first, the coaster slowly dragged them up up up over a large incline, and for a moment as the crawled over the peak, Scarlett could see the entirety of Nimbassa once again, but this time the lights sparkled from below in the dark of night. Then, that same sparkling world dropped out from underneath her as the coaster went soaring down and spun in tight loopty loops that left Scarlett's head spinning. "EEeeeeE!!!" Scarlett squealed giddily and throwing her hands into the air. The ride circled around a few times but eventually crawled to a stop once again where they had started, the safety bar lifting up over them automatically and releasing them. Scarlett's wild mane of red hair was even more tangled and windswept than before as she wobbled out of the cart and nearly fell she was so dizzy, laughing breathlessly the whole time. "Hahaha! That was... Awesome...! That's... heh... one way to cool off~" She giggled.

Vandal could only chuckle as Mila remained firm on her nickname stance, dropping the argument he knew he wouldn't win, and instead focusing on the fact that he seemed to have quieted her when it came to getting over her. "I'll take your stunned silence as agreement~ Can you honestly force me away now, knowing that I'll never recover?" Vandal pleaded, doing his level best impression of a babydoll eyes attack, hoping that maybe it would be super effective.
He gave a gentle, honest smile as Mila insisted that Scarlett should have been more understanding. "Heh~ You're taking my side..." He grinned like an idiot, looking rather pleased with this fact. It was kind of nice to see her turn that fiery attitude onto someone else for his sake than using it against him. "But... Her situation is just as complicated. I don't know all the details, mostly because she shuts me down every time I try to learn more about them, but... I don't know.... I think I'm more frustrated with the fact that she won't let me help her or tell me what's wrong than anything else. The terrible treatment I get is just a side effect of that." He sighed, scratching his head.
Mila's soft amusement was infectious, causing Vandal to smile as she nudged him gently, but pouting lightly as she silently refused his arm. "Now how can I be a proper gent if ya won't take my arm?" He insisted. "I'm not trying to do anything funny, honest. Nimbassa's a crowded place, you could get lost if you won't hold onto me." He insisted, nevertheless, he allowed her to let him take the lead, but he never walked too far ahead, constantly making sure she was still following until they made their way to the theatre. "Ohh~ You're in for a treat. They're playing A Midsummer Night's Dream. Its a classic tale about how some trainers from an ancient kingdom get lost in the forest, and fairy pokemon come to try and help them in secret but end up accidentally making a mess of things. It's hysterical, you'll love it." Vandal insisted.

MD grinned as the look won Scarlett over with his display, taking a bow as she all but complimented his acting skills. "Why thank you! It’s part of the job," he commented. And there was truth to that of course; a magician who didn’t look serious in the moment they were performing their tricks (or anything for that matter) was harder to believe. Or at least, that was what he’d come to believe and put into practice for his own performances.
MD was caught off guard by the inquiry; had he always been like this? He actually had to think about that a moment; he’d certainly stolen enough girls from their boyfriends in his time as teen (usually, unintentionally which had its own ramifications) and after a moment more he gave a cheeky grin. "I’d say… a little of both. You know the ladies love a little nerd and all," He chuckled, faking a frown as the journal was promptly snapped shut before he could catch any peeks. "D’aww… you caught me red handed," he joked, hands going up in the air like a criminal under arrest, though dropped them as he listened with interest at her proposal.
"Oh?" It wasn’t often he got a request to basically try and ‘rob’ a person with his magical skills. Of course then again, she was willingly volunteering this option and that was about all he really needed to feel comfortable in the act. "Hmmmm…. Alright. I’ll take that deal," he gave her a wink, wagging a finger through the air. "But don’t get mad when you don’t see it happen, alright?" He remarked to confirm his acceptance of her challenge.
MD grinned as Scarlett nearly died from his terrible cheesiness, unable to help but smirk a bit. Once it was assured the red head wasn’t choking to death and could continue on, they moved along to the rollercoaster ride. MD just flashed a grin at Scarlett as she inquired about the breaking and entering but said nothing further on the matter; no need to go incriminating oneself after all.
"Good, good. Then let’s get this party started, hm?" MD grinned as the safety bar was lowered into place and the ride started. It’d been a while since he’d been on a rollercoaster; he’d missed that initial building of tension in your belly right before the drop hit and all the crazy whirlings that followed suit. It was probably made hilariously fun with the fact that Scarlett took to it like some of the kids he use to know when they were taking their first ride and he found himself sut as invigorated, giving his own hollers as they went spinning. Eventually the ride reached it’s end and he was laughing his a** off from the thrill high as well.
"Oh… oh man… yeah… yeah it is," he agreed, attempting to wrestle down his own hair which had taken to becoming more of a savage mess than usual though he stopped and cracked an amused look, clearly fighting back a laugh as he pointed at Scarlett. "Oh… oh Arceus… your hair… pfff," failing he went into a hearty laugh, "oh man… we’re… we’re a mess. Pff… good thing… it’s late," he took a deep breath, trying to compose himself as he took a glance out at the city; it was really bright even at night. Gorgeous honestly. Wasn’t he was sure he wouldn’t bust out laughing again he turned his attention to Scarlett with a grin, "Think we better skedaddle before a wandering passerby wonders what’s going on," he teased, taking a quick sprint over to the roller coaster control box and assuring it was shut down before leading the other out of the park and back out to the boardwalk area, making sure everything was locked up tight as though they’d never broken their way in in the first place.
MD gave a sigh of relief and once he was certain the coast was clear and that one one would be able to report them (at least easily), he turned to Scarlett with a grin. "You know… it’s been a damn long time since I’ve had that kind of fun," he commented thoughtfully, smile simmering down to a softer tone. He took a glance around; the street lights were on and bright now. How late was it? "Think it’s way past my bedtime though… yours too I bet," he gave her a wink and chuckled. Grown ups had bedtimes still right? Though in all honesty, he was sure Jubilee and Uriah were anxious to know where he was at and what he’d been up too. Finding and checking in with them was probably something he ought to do before they took matters into their own hands…

MD was indeed a performer, Scarlett couldn't fault him for that or his acting, especially not when she'd had to use similar skills herself so often. Still, with all his cute cheesy flirting, Scarlett had to ask how long he'd had the skill. "Well, I certainly do." She agreed with a grin as he suggested ladies loved a little bit of that nerd swag.
Scarlett was amused by MD's reaction as she accused him of trying to peek at "her" journal. Not that he was really trying too hard to hide it in the first place, but he sure looked cute with his hands in the air in surrender like that. Cute enough in fact that she offered a deal that quickly seemed to capture his interest. "Heh~ I won't be mad if ya get it from me fair and square. Besides, I love a good challenge. Keeps the mind sharp and all that, y'know?" She suggested.
She caught his grin as she asked about committing a B&E, recognizing that he was staying silent to avoid admitting to anything actually incriminating. Smart. She could dig it, especially if it meant she could ride a roller coaster this late. The real magic was when MD miraculously got the thing to work on his own. At this point, Scarlett figured it was best not to ask too many questions and simply appreciate the fact that she could enjoy the ride. One trip around was plenty for Scarlett, feeling both cooled off and thrilled by the ride's end. "Somehow I feel like riding at night makes it even scarier, cause ya can't see the track as well, so ya daen't know what's comin' next." She laughed, checking her hair as MD admitted that it was completely mussed now. "Dammit haha...!" Scarlett snorted. This would be an absolute pain to get back in order. She could see a nice long shower in her future. Oh well.
"I still hold the position that we're hot messes. Here--let me help." She chuckled, moving closer to help him attempt to get his hair back in order since hers was a lost cause for now. "Heh, yeah that's true. Can sneak back to our rooms under the cover of night. I think ya look just fine though~ It's me that I'm mare worried about, if your reaction ta my hair was anything to go by." She smirked, finishing straightening his hair and giving a small nod of approval. "Heh, yeah. Let's blow this popsicle stand." She agreed, following him to the control box to keep a lookout for anyone before fleeing with him out of the fairgrounds. She was still giggling loudly like a teenager who'd escaped her curfew the whole time though.
Once they were in the clear, they slowed down, and Scarlett faced MD with a wide grin on her face. The subtle way his expression changed as he looked at her and told her just how much fun he'd had. "Heh... Yeah, me too, actually...." She admitted, tucking some hair behind her ear sheepishly. She found it hard to meet his gaze when he was looking at her like that, which... Wasn't common for her. "Pft... What are you, 8?" Scarlett chuckled as he suggested it was past their bedtimes. "Haha.... o but ya're probably right, should try to get some sleep befare dawn breaks." She admitted. Still, the idea of the night ending made her feel disappointed. he... Didn't want it to end, really. If she had the choice, she would keep running around with MD adventuring like this until she passed out. This was the sort of life she loved, going around trying new things for fun, getting into a bit of trouble along the way... These were the experiences she lived for, which made her all the more appreciative of her encounter with MD. Who would have thought a running into a stranger in the ruins would have led to a night like this?
She smiled, feeling like this was all just so serendipitous. Placing a hand on MD's shoulder, she gently pulled him closer and leaned over so that she could place a kiss on his cheek before wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug. "Thank you..." She murmured, giving a contented sigh. She needed this night to de-stress and have fun with no strings attached, and he had given her that. Really, she couldn't thank him enough.
