Timeskip is yours Babe!

Ebony gave a deep growl as he caught her but kept hold of her, drawing a draconic purr from her as he settled them to the ground and pinned her down. the moment he started shifting, she did as well. She took her human form underneath him, her scales still showing her Mating display but with her hair unbraided and spread out underneath her.

"Then claim me Lao... Make me yours again... Then we can take down our enemy together... As we were meant to do..." she told him in a soft growl then reached up to get a grip of his hair at the base of his skull and pulled him down for a fierce and hungry kiss.

Yes, she was aggressive when she should have been submissive to him. But she needed this. She needed him. And she needed him to take her as he should have from the beginning...

Lao was the first to arise, if only because he had forgotten how to sleep. The afterlife had no need for it, so the phenomenon of sleep was a new sensation to him. The old dragon looked behind him to his mate, who was sleeping in a new chamber he had dug out in the mountain for them. Slowly turning around, he quietly marveled at how the Brood Mother had gifted him with the powers of his fallen siblings. Their new bedchamber was massive, being located deep inside the mountain where the most space was available. Crystals of different sizes, shapes, and hues lined the roof to provide a natural and warming glow. A small waterfall that trickled from the Healing spring pooled inside their chamber, with a small garden growing around it to create their own personal grove. It felt... soothing... natural even. It was a display of his newfound abilities, but also a way to go back to his roots.

Slowly getting to his feet, he quietly walked towards Ebony and took a seat beside him, his fingers gently trailing in her hair, caressing the scars that his brother had given her, and just taking in her smell. They were both alive, and having been dead he found new appreciation for every breath he drew. More than just that though, he had righteous vengeance to look forward to, and Ebony would be at his side to make it happen. But that would come in due time. For now, Lao simply continued to caress and watch over his sleeping wife, quietly appreciating everything about her.

Ebony slowly woke up, stirring under his touch then finally opening her eyes to look up at him. She simply stared at him for a moment then raised one hand to move the back of her fingers over his arm before shifting to move her hands over his chest, still hardly able to believe that he was alive, that he was really here with her again.

Through the Mark, she could sense that they would be taking care of Bolas together soon. But not yet. For now, they had these moments for each other, to relearn each other.

As her hand moved over his chest, she had to shake her head slightly as she gave a small smile, "I miss your scars... You're completely unmarked now... It's going to take a bit of getting used to..." she said in a soft whisper as she looked up into his eyes.

After a moment, she remembered something and sat up, "There's something I have to show you," she told him with a soft sense of urgency then used the shadows to take them to Kain's old room.

There, in the center of the room, surrounded by a ring of stones that kept them protected and warm, were eight eggs. Their shells varied in color but were unmistakably theirs. She stayed back and looked at the eggs for a moment then turned her chartreuse eyes up to him, "They were to be our legacy... If I didn't..." she started but couldn't finish the statement and silently hoped he'd understand.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 06, 2015 5:01 pm

Lao remained silent as Ebony revealed her final legacy to him, the small clutch of eggs nestled between stones and ash. Before, passion would have swept him up and his pride would have left him overjoyed, but now his mood was both tempered and cooled. His hand took hers, his fingers lacing with hers and pulling a little closer to his side, as if to pull her under the shade of his wing. He didn't require Ebony to finish her statement, for he knew to what depths she would have gone to see his brother dead or to die herself. Such were the wiles and danger of the Frenzy, but that she had managed to leave behind one last clutch was a miracle in and of itself. He could tell that they were protected by powerful magiks, spells and enchantments that only a Chosen of the Brood Mother or the Brood Mother herself would be capable of. Ebony had planned well, though in his brief moment of silence he wondered if she had planned to see the children through their birth or to have their sons and daughters raise the new hatchlings. It was an answer he didn't need to know.

"These hatchlings will know their mother and father. Of that, there is no doubt." Lao finally replied, slowly breaking away from Ebony to examine the different eggs that layed nestled in a circle. His fingers ran over the rough shells, his glowing eyes and smile unmistakable in conveying his pride. Getting to his feet, he turned around to face his Mate, a smile creeping onto the dragon's face. "We will have make more, now won't we?"

Ebony knew that smile all too well and returned it with one of her own, "Of course we will," she told him simply then turned to head into the main part of their home cavern, scales beginning to spread over her form as she moved, "Perhaps soon... But for now... We need to remove the threat to these as well as our first brood... I will not be losing any more of my children..." she said as she moved towards the ledge, the breeze sweeping her hair out behind her as she looked towards Vampire Island where the boys had been sent for safety.

She knew the girls were safe, sent to the Elven Realm where they'd be protected and offer protection in return. But they needed to check on the boys. They were supposed to have gone to the Demon Realm but she knew they never made it there for one reason or another.

"Can you track where the boys are, my love? It may be remnants of the Frenzy but I have a bad feeling all of a sudden..." she suddenly asked him with a frown, her chartreuse eyes never leaving the island she was looking at.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 08, 2015 8:15 pm

Lao quietly nodded and closed his eyes, remaining still and focusing his mind to expand beyond his surroundings. He could feel his senses going outwards, encompassing the island before moving towards the ocean, crossing it towards Vampire Island. However, something dark and vile blocked him at the shore, making Lao recoil in surprise and pain. The episode was brief, and passed with little more incident. A frown spread on Lao's face as his eyes opened, and he turned to the island before approaching Ebony. "My brother's influence has tainted the island; I cannot perceive past a barrier he has erected. Perhaps I am not fully attuned to this world yet; after all, I was just born yesterday." He mused, wrapping his arms around Ebony's waist and joining her in gazing at Vampire Island. He wasn't worried about his sons; they were a resourceful duo, well trained and capable. He could sense that Ebony was worried, as any good mother should be, and thus an idea came to mind.

"You know, it has been some time since we have seen Sasha. Perhaps it would do us good to check on the dragons that are here on this island before we go investigate Vampire Island. Ensure that all is well and safe here. You injured Bolas greatly during your encounter, and I can safely predict that he is in hiding, trying to regain his strength. If anything is to threaten our sons, it will not be him. Not yet, anyways. Besides..." His eyes turned to the vast land of his home, the Isles of Draconia. A smile slowly crept up on his face, his eyes glowing with soothing light,. "I wish to be reacquainted with this land, and reconnect with the people and the spirits here."

Ebony listened to him, easily able to feel him balancing her already. In so many ways, they really were the perfect couple. Right now, his caution was balancing her tendency towards brash action and she had to give a small nod as she leaned back into him, her hands rising to rest over his, "You're right. We should make sure our home is set to rights before we go off doing something that's probably insane," she said softly, silently acknowledging her temporary insanity in attacking Bolas on her own as she had.

But she had to give a small teasing smile, "I just hope you and Cedric can get along better than you have been..." she had to tease him over his first encounter with the angelic hybrid. For that one moment, he'd acted more like her, "They've taken up home on Crystal Island," she added, giving him a direction as her chartreuse eyes found the island in question below them.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 08, 2015 8:58 pm

Lao smirked at her comment, though he wouldn't deny the truth in her words. His last meeting with Cedric wasn't a good one, though circumstances were different. "I promise to be on my best behavior, my love. Last time, tempers were heated and tongues lashed red hot. This time, I am sure I can be calm, especially if we are going into their home."[/b] Lao stated and looked down at the vista below, towards the Crystal Island. It looked beautiful from here, as if Lao had never seen it before until today. Slowly letting her go, scales developed on his skin, and his body began to change until he was in his dragon form. "Lead the way my love."

Ebony gave a teasing smile as she stepped away from him and did a repeat from her earlier action by stepping over the edge of the ledge and shifting during her fall. This time, she came right back up and hovered for a moment to wait for him to join her.

Then she lead the way to Crystal Island, sometimes dipping through shadows along the way and letting them blur her form. But she always returned to him, her wingtips touching his or moving around him in the air so that she could touch him in other ways.

She was so glad to have him back with her, part of her again. The feelings were indescribable to her and inescapable.

The flight didn't take them long, though, and she let him land to deal with Cedric first, then followed him on down to check on Sasha...

Jarmore

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The wind blew fiercely, a good sign that today was a good day to fly; Jarmore could be found on a perch high up the mountain nearest to the peak of one the mountains on the chain and was simply watching the world go by. Everything seemed quiet little to worry being as high as he was, the young races rarely ever found themselves up so high which suited him just fine when he wasn’t out and about enjoying a good meal he simply watched the world go by, or soared the skies above, today though, he wasn’t really interested in doing much other than watch perhaps he would do something later on when a particular tavern he frequented started serving the evening meal at the Elven realms, or maybe he would simply go bother those at the Vampire island is presence there seldom ever went unnoticed but one thing was for sure they did know how to make a good meal.

Jarmore yawned slightly as he looked up into the sky noticing that it was getting cloudy perhaps snow was coming later on, hard to say at the current time would have to wait and see what develops later. Jarmore’s eyes started scanning around and while he was fairly high he noted that few dragons were roaming about, guess they had other things to do than enjoy a fine day like this or perhaps he was simply too far up the mountain to be bothered by those who might have been roaming further below, it mattered little to him peace and quiet was just as good, though the one thing that was going for him was that his scales shown a metallic grey which nearly blended into the mountain face that helped when he didn’t want to be bothered few ever could see him and fewer still ever bothered to try, not that he minds any, he was simply enjoying a day as he usually did any other day though with the slight exception he wasn’t bothering the other races and taking in their fine dining.

As Jarmore continued to lay there a snowflake flew past his head which caused him to look up again, guess the snow is coming sooner than later he thought as he admired the slow but steady fall of white flakes that would provided he didn’t move would eventually cover him up in snow, not that he mind any he rather enjoyed the high altitudes of this mountain simply because it snowed on a regular basis, and while he would love to have his home here it would simply be a bother to try and carve out an area big enough to support his collected wealth he’d acquired over his many years, and further still that he would have to redecorate it so that it would be fitting, or for that matter have the facilities he generally had in case he needed to help one of the young races, sighing slightly he laid his head down and simply watched the snow fly past his view before he fell asleep content he wouldn’t be bothered while he lounged around and allowed the snow to build up around him.

There was only one thing that the dragons in the area avoided religiously: Ebony...

The Shadow Dragon was avoided because she was in a slightly feral state after the death of her Mate. Well, his second death. In his fight with his brother, Lao had won and defeated his brother, but it had cost Lao his life as well. Their children had been caught in it as well. It was only a sheer miracle that Ebony had survived, though she'd been badly injured.

Ebony was now left alone to hatch their final brood. She was still healing from the fight, though she hunted every day. The rest of the dragons avoided her for good reason, though. A few had felt the sting of her claws and teeth when they'd gotten too close to her aerie or her hunt.

She moved out onto the ledge of her aerie and the dragons in the area scattered instantly, leaving the skies to her. She simply dropped off the edge and allowed the wind to catch her wings. She found a good thermal easily and soared out towards the forest to hunt gain

She was a beautiful sight in the air as she flew: Black scales that absorbed the light, spines along her back and tail, more spines along the back of her head-frill and forearms, her wings a shadowy membrane that also seemed to absorb light instead of reflecting it, her eyes a beautiful chartreuse with a red ring now around the edges, her body long and sinuous as she moved through the air. Her wings allowed her to turn on a wingtip and she could move fast at any point in her flight.

After Lao's death, many males had tried to catch her in a mating flight, but she'd out-flown each and every one of them. Only Lao had ever been able to catch her in the air.

So far...

She returned to her ledge in short order with a boar in her jaws. She set it down a moment to look around her, her startling eyes settling on Jarmore where he was perched. They even locked eyes for a brief moment, then she simply carried her dinner into the aerie.

That was the limit of her social interaction lately. She simply locked eyes with another dragon then moved on her way. One had to wonder, though...

Jarmore

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As she flew away Jarmore whistled slightly while he stood there in his alternate form, his current flavor appearing as an Elf and watched her with interest, his form was unusual compared to most dragons but then again he was not ordinary in the slightest, and while he usually took on a human form the human culture started to bore him to death with their meals especially after having had a fair few royal banquets with the elves, he found that they made some of the greatest dishes he has ever had the pleasure of having, and his demeanor was such that he could pass as a noble that wasn’t seen all that often and to his credit it worked more times than not, especially considering how wise he was, it would be an understatement to say that given enough time which he had plenty of he could easily pass for an elder member, but what would that accomplish, he already had an open invitation which was something he guessed was hard to come by for even some of their own nobility who had much to prove before they would be given access; at least that was the impression he had when he visited the Elven realm to have a meal with the nobles.

Jarmore’s mind wondered slightly but quickly returned when he noted that the black dragon who as rumor had it was no longer paired with anyone appeared to have wounds that even for dragons would take a lot of time to heal, it was a wonder how anyone would do such a thing or for that matter how anyone on these mountains expected to earn the respect of one such as her if their only interest was simply to mate with her, clearly that wasn’t what was needed, though it was obvious lending a helping hand was needed though to what degree he knew not, he hadn’t been at this mountain range for very long and while there were plenty of dragons about most of them simply cared about gossiping which was something he cared little about so he simply stayed away from most and only tolerated them when they happen to show up wherever he was perched at the moment to talk to him about hogwash that did not interested him in the slightest.

Though if there was anything that was a common thing he heard on an outrageously regular basis, it was that everyone stayed well away from her, though he seemed to recall someone saying her name was Ebony, fitting name for one such as her.

Sighing slightly, he stepped over to the edge of his perch and looked out on the world around him, where he laid moments before was now a void with snow along the perimeter of where he was at. Looking up where she left with her meal he simple leaned backwards to fall over the edge. Jarmore continued to fall simply allowing the rush of wind to flow past him, the forest before swiftly closing, eventually he returned to normal and expanded his wings and simply glided along just above the treetops ignoring the looks he got as he passed by a few dragons who were trying to enjoy a meal in peace and soon shot up into the sky simply allowing momentum to carry him high before he took control and started flying high above. Eventually he flew close to where he was perched and flew around the mountain tops in search of this Ebony, a mate may not be needed, but perhaps a friend was, so he started looking around and saw that the one he sought was surprisingly closer to his perch than he realized, clearly, he wasn’t as thorough in finding a secluded perch as he thought, though admittedly his home was much further away from this particular peek.

Before Jarmore could approach the cry of a couple of dragons could be heard behind him “STOP!” Jarmore glanced over his shoulder to see the dragons approaching and spun around just in time for the two dragons to slam into him causing him to fall the two dragons keeping close as they shooed him away. As Jarmore fell he brought his wings close which allowed him to increase his speed which to the two dragons surprise allowed him to break away from them heading back down towards the forest below, the increased speed gave him the boost he needed as he quickly expanded his wings and flew over the trees with great speed he gave himself a moment to put some distance from his quarry who were struggling to keep up with him though they couldn’t anticipate his next move as he suddenly shot up with great speed into the sky doing a loop around which brought his path back towards the two who’d rammed into him, his mouth opened spewing forth a mist which covered his wings in ice and caused a ice trail to follow behind him, as his pace increased his shot passed them all the while chanting a small spell “Rin Fa do stai” as he flew back up and around the ice trail that had been behind him suddenly erupted in ice particles that disorientated the dragons, giving Jarmore the opening he needed he shot forward towards one of the dragons and when he neared he spun his tail over slamming it into the dragon causing it to cry out as it fell to the forest below. Not stopping there he rushed forward with talons and grabbed the other dragon by neck held him there, the dragon’s eyes grew large as he was in essence under Jarmore control since he could dictate where he wanted the dragon to be and since he’d caught him in a precarious spot the dragon wouldn’t be able to attack him with ease, glaring at the dragon Jarmore spoke up “why attack me?” the dragon spoke up after Jarmore tightened his grip on him, his talons threatening to pierce through the scales, “don’t you know who lives there, everyone stays away from her, she’s aggressive to all who approach we simply wanted to stop you from getting hurt” Jarmore shook his head “what I do is my own business, you might have been spared a hardship had you had chosen to not bother me” Jarmore breathed ice breathe upon the dragon's wings covering them completely which kept the dragon from being able to use them, which at this point showed just how strong Jarmore was when he could maintain his grip on the dragon and maintain his position while holding the dragon. The Dragon started to panic and started swinging his tail trying to hit Jarmore which only upset Jarmore causing him to suddenly fly towards the forest below them with great speed with the dragon being dragged behind him, Jarmore pulled up suddenly releasing the dragon who slammed into the forest ice shards flying all over the place. Jarmore remained where he was for a moment before he flew down and changed just before he landed and simply walked over to the dragon who was now struggling to stay awake. Shaking his head and simply raised his hands to which started glowing and he began to heal the dragon, and only after he was done he spoke “[next time leave me be, I understand you are afraid of her but I’ve been around a while so I can take care of myself young one, leave the problems to those who are far older and wiser” the dragon simply nodded and just stayed there as Jarmore changed and took off without delay, what started out as a simple search for someone who needed him ended with him having to correct a mistake by a pair of dragons who should have left things well alone.

As Jarmore flew in no particular direction he fully understood now that most of the males around were absolute idiots, it was a wonder how any of them survived past hatchling, or for that matter how they weren’t raised properly, perhaps he was a little harsh but the two that bothered him didn’t deserve to be called a dragon, perhaps a Drake would suit them, the more he thought about it he threw that idea out, to many good drakes out there who would take offense to that thought so he simply would regard them as children since they clearly weren’t as mature as they first appeared which might explain why there were so many in this group or for that matter why there were so many that had no mates of their own. Eventually Jarmore found himself by a section of the mountain range that he was unfamiliar with and simply looked around for a moment before he resigned in his attempt to see that black dragon, he’d have to keep his eyes out in the future and flew up into the air content to simply soar through the skies before he decides whether or not to pester the elves and get a meal or simply hunt for something around here.

It wasn't long after his 'fight' that JArmore would be able to smell the succulent scents of a perfectly cooked meal floating in the air. Roasting meat with just the right mixture of herbs and spices, roasted sweet potatoes with cinnamon, and corn roasted with rosemary and garlic...

In short, a perfect meal...

Simple, but perfect...

The scents would lead easily to one large ledge and the cave beyond it, specifically, the ledge that the idiots had tried to keep him from getting to.

Inside, Ebony was having a rare moment of civilized civility. Though how long it would last was up for grabs. She was also in human form, also a rarity these days.

In height, she was a little over five feet tall, making her a bit on the short side but no less attractive for it. Her skin was as dark as her dragon form and her name, though she wasn't of aboriginal breeding; she was just one of those dragons meant for the shadows that marked her very-rare breed. Her features were delicate, almost impish or Elvish depending on one's point of view. But her crowning feature in this form had to be her hair: an ebony fall of pure silk that went to her ankles and carried a soft wave to it when it was loose. This time, it was braided to keep it out of the fire she was working around.

She wore a simple sleeveless gown that fell to mid-thigh and was easy to shed if she shifted form, it's blue-green color making her chartreuse eyes stand out sharply from her dark skin. She was cooking her meal over an open fire-pit, everything set up for cooking that way easily. But she was a gourmet when it came to cooking, if she wanted to be.

The only thing marring her appearance right now were the bandages she was using for her wounds that had carried over when she'd shifted forms. Sometimes it was easier to move around in dragon form, other times it was easier in human form. She was avoiding her third form for the moment, though why would only be obvious if one looked at her wounds.

The fight that had taken Lao from her had hurt her badly and she was still healing from it. Losing Lao had also hurt her badly. The only reason she kept going was the set of eggs laid deeper in the cave, in Kane's old room.

The cave system she lived in was set up for a large family, with plenty of cave-rooms off of the main 'hallway' that ran off of the main room. Lately, though, she stayed up here and only moved into the other room to check on the eggs, which were still weeks away from hatching.

She gave the spitted boar another turn over the fire and moved to stand out on the ledge for a moment, looking out over the islands that Lao had created to save their race. The dragons had been dying out when he'd been awakened and he'd created these islands to save them, give them a new home. Seeing other dragons flying through the peaks and other islands did lift her heart a bit, giving her hope for the survival of her last brood.

She gave a soft sigh and moved back inside her aerie and moved to tend the food a bit more. She was using that to avoid tending her wounds. She knew they'd heal a bit faster if she worked a bit more with the healing herbs she knew very well how to use, but she was avoiding it because they were a reminder of what she'd lost... Again...

Losing your entire family once was bad enough. But twice? Well, that was more than she cared to think of....

The smell of a meal that to his nose was a perfectly prepared meal gave Jarmore pause, he’d spun around the smell of a prepared meal drove his curiosity so much that it warranted a look to see who the cook of such a mouthwatering smell was, clearly, they knew how to prepare a meal which was cause enough for him to dart off in the direction of the smell. His pace was swift but not so much that he would lose the smell of a good meal and eventually found himself back where he was before to his surprise the dragons he’d fought were nowhere to be found which suited him just fine, clearly, they’d learned their lesson and he simply flew down to the ledge and immediately noticed the cave which to his surprise the smell was coming from and carefully looked around before he approached the cave entrance. Once he has in front of the cave Entrance he looked around again suddenly feeling slightly uncomfortable entering someone else’s home, which was slightly odd since he did so on a regular basis when he dined with the nobility at the Elven Realms, though they at least invited him in this was different.

Changing to the alternate form he sighed and simply walked in his hand on the pommel of his sword as he carefully walked in the direction of the smell. Not wanting to be a surprise to whoever was living here he felt it would be best to announce his presence so he spoke up “hello?” he kept walking his eyes scanning around for signs of movement as he kept walking towards the smell.

Ebony looked up at the sound of the voice with a frown. After all, no one approached her these days. No one.

She moved out of the shadows where he could see her then closed her eyes briefly to pull the rest of the shadows back so that he could see easier. That done, the fire and candles she used for lighting easily lit up the main room of the aerie.

"Hello..." she said softly, then cleared her throat a bit since she wasn't used to speaking much these days, "I'm Ebony ShadowScale," she introduced herself easily then frowned slightly at him since she didn't know him and no one came to visit her.

The main room was comfortably set up for humans with a handcarved table and chairs in one area; for dragons with large handmade cushions for reclining on; and for something in between with smaller cushions here and there. There were handcarved shelves against the walls for books, spices, and one devoted to healing items.

Bit the crowning glory to the aerie were the walls of the cave system. They were intricately carved with scenes from dragon history from their creation to the formation of these islands. Even the original Primal Dragons were depicted, including Lao. The wall carvings were Lao's final gift to her. Especially the scene of the two of them with their first brood.

Of course, the silence in the aerie proved that she was now alone. And had been alone for a while...

She tilted her head at the stranger, easily identifying him as a dragon from his scent, "I haven't met you before..." she mused softly to herself before remembering that there were alot of dragons here now that she hadn't met yet.

She shook her head slightly and moved to turn the boar again so that it would cook evenly. In the process, she tossed her ankle-length braid over her shoulder and the light of the fire revealed the silvery Mating-scar that showed him precisely why the other dragons had avoided her. Usually, the Mating Mark was colored in some way. For it to have silvered meant that Lao was dead. She would keep that silvered mark until she either died or took another Mate.

She checked a few more things at the fire then looked back at him as she waited to find out who he was and why he was here.
