Another water pulse and the rock snake was downed, but Brock was happy to lose to such a formidable opponent. "Wait, what?! That's it?? Come on Brock, you can take this guy!" The kid who'd been with Brock earlier was protesting from the stands. He hopped off and ran back onto the field. "That's it. I was beaten, fair and square." Brock smiled, moving to get Alex's rewards. "How was that fair? You were at a type disadvantage...""Perhaps, but that doesn't make it unfair. Plenty of people have beaten me even when they've been at a type disadvantage. What matters is the strength of the pokemon, and of the bond between that pokemon and their trainer. Alex here has more than proved his pokemon's strength and loyalty, and thus I am proud to confer to him the Boulder Badge." Brock explained, turning back around and heading towards Alex, holding out the metal pin. "And this, is just a little gift from me." He chuckled, handing Alex the TM for Rock Tomb as well. "Good luck Alex. Though, seeing what you're capable of, I don't think you'll need it." Brock chuckled.

No worries, this battle was short, but fun. Gets me in the mood to try posting more often myself. Anyways, at least the gym is open to others with the event ending.
Alex Cross Water Pokemon Trainer
Alex was happy for things to wrap up, since he had a major advantage, dragging things out wouldn't have been the best idea. Since the battle was over, he made his way over to Blastoise. She was as strong as ever and Alex was still amazed he even befriended his favorite pokemon. Water had always been a big part of his life, even before becoming a trainer, so clearly, he couldn't pass up the chance to start with a Squirtle. Either way, Alex couldn't stop his kid like admiration of Blastoise as he hugged the water type and grinned. He was only four inches taller than the pokemon, so it wasn't too difficult. "Thanks, Blastoise, you were great out there." She was glad that things were over and always quite happy that Alex acted like normal.["I'm just happy to help... though I'd rather be near some water."]Alex chuckled a bit, he didn't need to understand what Blastoise had said to figure it out. "Next time, I think you'll be off the hook when it comes to battling." His attention had turned to the other trainer that Brock had been talking to earlier. Alex didn't have any issues with what he had said, perhaps he'd understand more in the future. This at least gave Brock the chance to teach the boy something new about battles. Alex didn't need to add anything as Brock explained things better than he would have been able to. He looked toward the badge and TM and took them both when offered. This wasn't the first time he'd won a badge, so it wasn't unusual. "Thanks, I'm glad that I came back to Kanto to take on the gym's here. As for Rock Tomb, I'll use it wisely, I haven't restricted myself to just water pokemon after all." He said with a slight chuckle as he glanced toward Cresselia and Eevee.
With all that sorted away, he'd let Brock and the young trainer get back to what they were talking about before the battle. Alex made his way over to his two pokemon on the sidelines with Blastoise following. "I really hope you learned a little more about how I think trainers and pokemon need to have a strong bond in order to make a great team." He said, speaking to the legendary pokemon. Her attention turned toward Alex now that the battle was over."Yes, I learned a lot, even in a shorter battle like this, thank you. I look forward to seeing what else comes our way, perhaps one day, I'll have a bond with you as strong as Blastoise's."Cresselia said directly to Alex and the others, she didn't mind letting the gym leader and the younger trainer that she had learned, even from a battle like that.

Darren slowly dropped his arms as he felt the sudden warmth of the sun on his back, blinking and glancing around at the grass and dirt around him. He was right back where the hex maniac had teleported him last. He couldn't help but give a short laugh of surprise, glancing left and right to see Flynn and Zephyr with him as well. "Haha!!! We made it! We're back!!!" Darren cheered with joy, grabbing hold of Flynn's clawed hands and spinning them both around. Flynn normally would have rolled his eyes at his dork of a trainer, but honestly the fire type was just as relieved to be away from that spooky house and free. He grunted happily and joined Darren in the little dance, letting Zephyr be the one to look at them both scornfully for their ridiculous antics.
Darren finally stopped and let the charmeleon go. "C'mon, we need to check up on Sable and Jin!" Darren insisted, rushing back towards the pokemon center and bursting inside. He had his own wounds that probably needed to be looked at, but right now his focus was on finding his friends. He passed Sable's room first, and skid to a halt, backing up when his mind recognized her for ho she was. He didn't enter the room, for fear of waking her up, and instead settled for looking through the visitor's window. He smiled a bit, happy to see her looking so peaceful as she rested. He would leave her be for now, deciding to find Jin and let him know he was okay. It didn't take long. He found Jin just a few rooms over, being treated by a chansey. He knocked lightly on the door, announcing his presense before letting himself in. "Uh... H-Hey... Is this a bad time?" Darren offered lamely, not quite sure how else to re-introduce himself into the situation.

Jin had to drop his illusion in order for the chansey to treat him properly, so the small bundle of dark fluff was trying to relax and let the egg-bearing pokemon do her job. An ear twitched when he heard the knock on the door, but he didn't think much of it. At least, not until the door opened and the person on the other side stepped in."Darren!"Jin immediately tried to move over to the teen, but ended up letting out a few yelps as he got a very quick and painful reminder that he was still injured and was getting fixed up. The dark type whimpered in defeat before laying back down so that the chansey could finish taking care of his injuries.

Darren chuckled, closing the distance between them. Darren wasn't exactly in the best shape either, but between the two of them, in comparison Darren was healthy as a rapidash. "It's good to see you too." He smiled kindly, scratching the zorua behind the ears. He was a pretty darn cute zorua. Not that Darren would ever say that aloud around Jin, but seeing him as a human all the time made Darren forget that he was really just a little fluffball. "How're you holding up...? Jin was still whimpering in pain a bit, but he couldn't help his reaction. With how difficult it would have been to try and find where the hexer had originally sent the group and how much time it would have taken to make the attempt at his best guess, he had been worried that he wouldn't be seeing either of the teens again. At least, not alive. So for the moment, he was rather happy to see that Darren had gotten away alright. Well, maybe not alright, considering how much he had been tossed around, but at least it seemed he was just going to be a visitor and not another patient.
Even though he was enjoying the scratch behind his ears, Jin's ears drooped slightly when he realized he still hadn't seen his trainer yet. Darren felt for the zorua as he whimpered in pain. He hoped a little ear scratching would help at least. Jin deserved the affection really, with how much he'd done for them. Darren seemed to be holding out a lot better. Battered and severely bruised, sure, but as far as he could tell, he'd sustained no real injuries. Not ones that needed to be treated anyways. He was going to be pretty damn sore in the coming week or two though.... He let Jin know that he'd seen Sable n the other room, news that Jin had not yet received, judging by his reaction. "Ah! I thought I'd gotten her sent back fast enough so that you'd be together, but I guess you two just happened to miss each other." Darren smiled sheepishly, though when Jin explained that he wouldn't be out of this room anytime soon, Darren nodded solemnly. "Don't worry about it. It doesn't look like Sable will either, so I'll do all the moving for both of you, okay?" He gave Jin a childish smile, shrugging his shoulders a bit as he did so. "Since you and Sable are out of commission for now, I think I'm going to see about challenging Brock, but I'll come straight back here to check on you both after that, okay?" He insisted.

Darren bit back a bit of a laugh as Jin mentioned being teleported into a trashcan. It would have been inappropriate to laugh at that, knowing the horrible context behind it, but otherwise it was just so funny. "Er... Yeah, I think Sable was just directly transported to the bed so if you got thrown in the trash cans outside then yeah you probably wouldn't have seen her..." Darren agreed, then explained his plans to battle Brock. Jin seemed to agree that was the best course of action. Might as well get it out of the way now while they were sort of stuck here. Not to mention it would be a quick battle with how much his pokemon had grown. "Heh, yeah." Darren agreed, rubbing his neck sheepishly.
Though, since he was going to be out and about, Jin asked him to look for some portable berry pots. Mostly for selfish reasons, but also partially for Sable's benefit. Yep~ Once I'm done with these Sweet Incense posts I'll see about posting for some VS Recorders so I can customize teams. Darren couldn't deny that if he hadn't managed to convince the hexer to let them go that he and Sable would still be stuck there, but he didn't want Jin to feel bad about his mistake. "I wouldn't say that. You could have gotten help, you might have been able to save some other people trapped there. Speaking of which we should probably uh... Alert the authorities about that place. Heh." Darren suggested. Jin's feelings of regret needed to be acknowledged and validated after all. It was understandable and even natural to be feeling that way, and Darren did appreciate it, but he also wanted to reassure the zorua that he was forgiven, and they could move on. Everything was okay, really what Jin needed most right now was rest. Thankfully Jin seemed to settle on that idea as well, curling up and attempting to get some sleep. Darren nodded to the dark type and then turned, leaving the room to let him rest.
Now he needed to focus on Brock. There were several pokemon he could use to his advantage in this match. He'd been wanting to use Lapis, but there was also Zephyr and Pascal too. Even Ophelia could put that double kick to good use, and Morpho could always use that sleep powder, dream eater combination, even though Morpho herself was at a type disadvantage. Type disadvantage didn't matter when your opponent couldn't attack though. That was the brilliance of the sleep powder.

Darren thought different tactics over, but ultimately, he believed that Lapis would be able to handle Brock. If not, he had Zephyr and Flynn as a backup. He looked to his charmeleon and skarmory. Flynn seemed a lot happier now that they were out of that creepy mansion, or perhaps the upcoming battle was what excited him. Zephyr was continuing to be uncharacteristically obedient, which unnerved Darren. He knew how Void pokemon worked, once you earned their respect, they would follow you, and only you, like mindless killing machines... Darren shuddered to think that he'd earned Zephyr's respect by losing his temper and ordering it to rip apart that pumpkaboo. Not to mention the skarmory had witnessed him manhandle that hex maniac.... And here he'd hoped to earn the pokemon's trust, instead of respect out of fear.
Flynn eyed Darren worriedly. He was getting that look again, that same miserable look he got after conversing with his parents back in Viridian City, but the trio entered Brock's gym nonetheless, and Darren straightened himself out with a sigh. As he turned his attention to the interior of the gym however, he noticed that Brock was already with someone. Two people in fact. "Oh! Uh... Sorry, am I interrupting? I can just come back later for my battle." Darren offered sheepishly, turning slight and gesturing back to the door with a jerk of his thumb. "Nah, you're fine. We were just finishing up. Let me heal my pokemon and I'll battle you next." Darren relaxed a bit at that, rubbing the back of his neck a bit before shifting his hands to his pockets and nodding. "Sure, I'll just wait here then." He agreed as Brock made his temporary exit.
Darren fidgeted awkwardly in wait, eyeing the other blue haired boy in the room. "Uh... Hey! H-how'd your battle go?" He asked curiously, though considering the blastoise by the boy's side, Darren had a pretty good idea. He didn't comment on that though, figuring it best to break the ice with some light conversation. He had to do a double take when he saw the Cresselia in the sidelines though, and found himself staring for a lot longer than what would probably be comfortable for any human or pokemon alike. He didn't want to say anything or prod, but the aspiring pokemon professor side of him was dying to ask a thousand questions, and find some way to scan the legendary with his pokedex that didn't seem... Well... Creepy.

Was planning on posting shortly, so this actually helps things along. lol It's fine, Alex should really focus on doing more with his pokedex, also with meeting more trainers, got him a pokegear in the story since he was kind of slow on the kind of device. lol

Alex was pleased to see that Cresselia had learned a bit more about them being trainer and pokemon. "I'm glad to hear it, once we fight together for the first time, I'm sure you'll see that we'll make a great team." He was optimistic that the more Cresselia saw and learned, the closer they could get. Eevee on the other hand, wasn't as optimistic, but knew that Alex would never feel the same way. Either way, she was tired of looking up, so as usual, Eevee made her way back up to her usual perch on Alex's shoulder, with his help of course. Blastoise wasn't worried about the matter, as long as Cresselia was part of the team, things would hopefully continue running smoothly.
With the battle done, it appeared that it was time to go. However, Alex thought that it would cause too much of a commotion to have Cresselia levitate along next to him. It was probably best to move around with a legendary in their pokeball. Despite that thought, it was already too late as his attention turned toward the trainer that had just entered the gym. Obviously, it would be impossible to not notice Cresselia, returning her would have to wait. Alex was a little surprised when the only question asked was about the battle. "Managed to earn the badge, had a little bit of an advantage." Alex had decided to go with that for his answer, despite the fact that it obviously wasn't a little advantage. It broke the ice perhaps as it was kind of obvious that just like Brock, this guy was starstruck too. With that in mind, he decided to address the obvious. "So, this is Cresselia. Showing her what it was like for a trainer to battle in a gym. This is a learning experience for her, so I'm sure Cresselia won't mind answering any questions..." Alex couldn't help, but laugh weakly as it was odd, though at least Cresselia could speak directly to this trainer.
Cresselia hadn't expected to see another trainer, but that was alright with her. She was curious about trainers and meeting other ones seemed fine to her. As Alex spoke about her answering questions, it was the perfect time to introduce herself to this trainer."It's nice to meet another trainer, what Alex said is true. One day we hope to become a great team. If you have any questions, it might interest my curiosity."Cresselia spoke directly to all the humans and pokemon in the room. It would be clear that she was just as interested in the trainer as he was in her. Alex was glad that Cresselia wasn't the type to avoid humans, neither was he for that matter. It really had been awhile since he had a conversation with somebody else.
