"Oh, fine." Mala said, looking down at Kai now. "I promise that I won't ever make you go through something like this again, so long as you spend the day with me today - okay? I'll let you pick whatever fun place we go, so long as it's not innappropriate and it's something all of us would like."

"Yeah, like I wanna go to favorite hang outs looking like a seven year old." Kai said rolling his eyes.

"Well, I want a memorable day with you as a kid since you ignore me as a teen. If you don't pick something now, I'll cook up that meal again and make you stay like this until you do." Mala threatened with a pout.

"Uh, are you sure that's a good idea? If it turns people into kids, there's no telling what it would do to a kid." Van pointed out, thinking it might defeat the purpose if Kai got turned into a baby.

"I meant after the fifteen hours were up." Mala replied with a soft chuckle.

"Can you two just pick something already so I can get this over with?" Kai snapped, by now having given up on struggling out of his mother's hug.

"So spending time with me is something so horrible that you want nothing more than to avoid it at all costs? Am I really that boring to you?" Mala asked Kai, hoping she was taking his words the wrong way.

"No, I just want to get the humiliation of going out in public where my friends might see me as a seven year old over and done with."

"If they laugh, I'll remind them that their family isn't magical so they don't get to experience anything awesome like we do either." Mala assured Kai with a smile. "If that doesn't work, tell them I taught you that immolation spell I probably used on their mothers."

"That's right, my mom's zap-happy..." Kai muttered as he buried his face in his hands.

Mala heard Kai's grumblings and sighed. He obviously didn't care to at least pretend that she was pleasant to be around. Especially since she had been feeling insecure as it was, this was a huge blow to her mood. She let go, her arms dropping to the floor. "I understand you don't want to be near me. That's fine, do what you want." She huffed out another sigh, heading back towards the bed. She had blankets to bury herself under.

Van sighed and led Kai away for a bit to sit him down for a talk. He knew Mala didn't want their kids to know her insecurities about Kai and Larai leaving her soon, but it seemed to be the only way to get it into Kai's thick skull. After they came to a sort of agreement, Van went back to their room and quietly closed the door behind him before going to hug Mala. "Kai says he's sorry, and he's letting you pick where we go today."
((Leaving soon to hang with friend. biggrin ))

"...Why would he do that?" Mala asked, looking up at Van with her eyes that were oh so teary only moments prior. "Doesn't he hate being near me when he doesn't have to be?" If anything, Mala seemed utterly confused.

"He's a teenage boy with a thief god for a father, if he's not in a rebellious stage, then I don't know what the problem is." Van said with a chuckle. "Seriously though, he just wants to be a tough guy like any other boy out there. He doesn't hate you, he just doesn't want to look like a softy by showing off his emotions, especially towards his mother which he doesn't hate one bit." Van said as he wiped Mala's eyes.

Mala smiled a little bit, happy to hear that despite the impression she got from his behavior at times - she wasn't hated. "I'm glad he doesn't loathe me. Now, uh, I need to figure out a fun place to go." she said with a chuckle. "He never really talks to me anymore, so I'm hoping you know more than I do. Would Kai be utterly bored by a faire - with the stall games and those new thingies....rollercoasters, I think?"
