K'bet and Blue Rubiginth

Rubiginth landed nearby in with a wave of damp sand.

    Ready to go again?

K'bet sighed. "Yeah. For the good of the weyr." He raised his arm in a half-assed salute. It hurt. "C'mere and—"

Wait, no! You c'mere, mine! Spiderclaws! Bring the net over here!

Quote:
51-60: As you're preparing to run your net, you discover that the beach is swarming with spiderclaws. You decide the fish can wait, and instead, start gathering the shelled creatures. That's good eatin'! You are successful and able to bring back quite the haul! +15 points

N'den and Brown Belengath
Week 2(15-21)
Roll: 92 91-100: You decide to take a chance not on the water, but by hunting and scavenging on the beach itself. It seems to be successful! +5 points.

N'den highly approved of Western's spirit and comradery from everyone during their situation. He loved everyone coming together to help supply the weyr. This week he decided to forego the water and focus along the beach itself. The rider waved cheerfully to anyone he spotted also on the beach. A couple of pretty riders weren't far away.

Belengath looked up from pawing over a pile of debris thrown up by the tide and gave a disapproving rumble at his rider. Now is not the time for flirting Mine. Killjoy The brown ignored his rider in favor of digging through another pile. With a start he pulled back. Mine perhaps you should come take a look at this. And get out that meat roll I know you have tucked away.

N'den looked up surprised by his dragon's call. "My meat roll? Why would I need that? We're looking for food for the weyr as you pointed out." Still he strolled over. In a little depression was a tiny gold firelizard who peeped demandingly at him as soon as she saw him. "Oh. Oh my." The young gold didn't take kindly to the tardiness of her demands and clambered toward him.

Quickly now Mine! The brown said urgently as he crouched down to watch. N'den fumbled and eventually got the meat roll out; he quickly began breaking off pieces to feed her. Not that she would have accepted anything less.

what we get?
4. While hunting the beach, you you find a newly hatched baby firelizard! The hungry being demands tribute, and you have no choice but to give in! Thankfully, you have a few snacks stashed to ensure this little flit doesn't go hungry. Well, this is an unexpected surprise... Roll a D20 to see what color, and Quote Uta! (You can only win this once per character. If you roll it on a character who has already Impressed, they simply find shells from an already hatched clutch instead.)
1-9. Green
10-14. Blue
15-17. Brown
18-19. Bronze
20. Gold

If you roll a gold but your character already has one, we will turn it into a bronze instead. You can not opt out of this flit. Just like some characters who never intended to Impress, this little flit is now yours. Surprise!

Ty'len and green Exiloth
This wasn't what he had expected. One minute he'd been bringing in a haul of fish, and the next he was in the cold water! Exiloth immediately trumpeted and half-ran into the water, wings spread, trying desperately to get to Hers. Ty'len struggled beneath the water, and for a moment he had to wonder if this was how it was all going to end...

Thankfully, someone was able to free him from the net, and fish him out of the water. Choking and sputtering, pride wounded, and feeling a half-drowned mess, the green rider felt his frustration rise. Are you okay, Mine? Are you well? Exiloth was fully distressed that Hers' had taken such a tumble.

I'm okay, I'm okay, he assured, mentally clinging as tightly to Exiloth as he could. Frustration aside, he was grateful that he'd been fished out so quickly. That had been close. Perhaps he'd laugh about his clumsiness later, but right now, he was only too glad to still be alive.

B'den and Green Riojath
Week 2(15-21)
Roll: 4 1-10. You don't know exactly what happened, but somehow you have wound up tangled up in a fishing net, out in the middle of the ocean. You thrash around and try hard to free yourself, but all you wind up doing is breathing in the salt-water. Thankfully, you're fished out by your fellows, untangled from the net, and dragged back to shore. Outside of being a little traumatized, roll a D4 to see what the results of your poor fishing happened to be!
3. You are feeling miserable. Your nose stings, you're nauseous from drinking up so much salt water, and you're a bit cut up from the hooks. To make it worse, you've lost the net in its entirety, and now need to go to the infirmary to get the hooks removed and ensure they don't get infected. Blargh. What a day. [-15 points]

B'den wasn't sure how she got roped into this. Sure she wanted to help feed her dragon and others, but shouldn't the fishing in boats be left to the professionals? Still she was willing to give it a try. It went fine for a little while. B'den did her best to help out, but the names and items were unfamiliar to her. She soon found herself tangled in the fishing net and dumped into the ocean.

Riojath, left on the beach for safety, started flapping her wings and freaking out. Mine! Mine! B'den was grateful to be pulled back onto the ship as she spit up sea water and calmed her green. Easy Riojath. I'm alright. Deep breaths. Unfortunately the fishing net was a complete loss. She felt nauseous from the salt water and several sharp hooks were embedded in her flesh. Looked like it was off to the healers as soon as they got back to get them out.

Rolling for Shahera of Green Therianth
Quote:
61-70: You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

Well, that went poorly. It had all been going so well too, Shahera thought as she sat where she had fallen on her butt. The fishing was boring but she had gotten a bite finally! Only to loose it completely, and break her pole, because of her impatience. Well. This whole endeavor seemed to be more work than reward. Hopefully others were having better luck.

Dsharmira puller herself out of the fishing net after being fished out a bit morosely. It is not a good day. Zhaoruith commiserated with her rider and she winged out to pick her up. There were hooks, Hooks!, imbedded in Dsharmira and it hurt. This would be painful when they got back to the healers.

M'ay and Blue Othivth
Week 2(15-21)
Roll: 27- 21-30: Well that didn't go as planned. You thought you were pulling in a whopper, but instead all it turns out to be is an ancient, slimey, and very unsalvageable boot tangled up with some driftwood. There's nothing edible about this--not even any shelled seagrubs. To top it off, any fishing you do the rest of the day will either result in no bites or catches. -15 points

Othivth curled himself up on a warm part of the beach while his rider set up her pole and tackle. The blue was pleased she'd been assigned this venture as it gave him time to sleep on the beach. Or at least that's what he let others think. Under his mostly hooded eyes, the blue watched the others combing the beach for anything that might be of use.

M'ay stretched after she got her lined tossed into the water. "Isn't this great?!" Sure she had to spend her day off fishing, but it was a nice change from drills or something equally tedious to a rider. She had several nibbles but didn't catch anything. Then something pulled her line down hard. M'ay grabbed her pole and started reeling it in excitedly. She was sure this was the big one!

The big one it was. The biggest flop. She wrinkled her lip as a mangled boot and driftwood were all she caught the rest of the day. It was a total flop.

Quote:
You fish with a net, and while there were a few tangles early on, you find your stride. Within your haul you find a rare but very meaty and very pregnant flatfish. This thing is ugly but its meat is known to be smoked--and its eggs are a true treat even Lord Holders pay a pretty penny for. Casgar and the kitchenfolk will be more than pleased! +15 points

Yes! This was quite the haul. T'tain rejoiced as he pulled the net out of the water. He gazed at the terribly ugly, very pregnant (that didn't help the looks), flatfish. He had visions of presenting the fish to Casgar personally but figured it wouldn't happen that way. Oh well. It was still a great catch.
