The ball would soar far and strike true, splashing against the path of lilypads. Caught within the sphere, the Relicanth would struggle to free himself. Back and forth the ball would violently shake as the Guardian fought to free himself. Alas. Like the Lapras he too had been caught by a small child!

"Thank you, Maddie," the pinkette remarked, gently patting the somewhat-grumpy Blitzle. Oh, Alice knew it had been somewhat rude to interrupt the battle, particularly given how spirited the fight had been, but... well, it was such an interesting Pokemon! A living fossil, a relic of some bygone time... and Maddie seemed to like him, so he couldn't be all bad. She scooped up the Luxury Ball, placing it behind her in her makeshift backpack, and grinned. Five Pokemon... she was almost a proper trainer! Recalling Maddie, she continued forward through the swamp.

Alice trudged forward, lost in thought. She was getting used to the uncomfortable dampness of the bog again, but for the most part, she was quite ready to be gone from this place.
">LEAPING LOTADS!<" The call rang out across the bog. Sitting in the water not far from the path was the Lotad in question...though he didn't seem to be leaping. ">MR RELICANTH HAS BEEN CAUGHT! I...I guess it's up to me to take his place! You can count on me Mr Relicanth!<" The Pokemon declared, every bit the enthusiastic young ward.
Sadly, Fate had a twisted sense of humor, and in that moment an unusually large Swellow would swoop down and carry the Pokemon off. His last words were "> IIIIIIIII'M SOOOOOORRRRRRYYYYYYY!!!!<" And so ended the legacy of the Bog Guardian. Yet when darkness was on the doorstep a Hero would rise to the challenge. No doubt there would be another in time!

Alice watched the scene before her curiously, giving a slight smile as the pair took off. Ohhh, so the Lotad must have been waiting for his friend, Mister Swellow, to pick him up! It was nice to see Pokemon working together. With a quiet hum, she took off through the murky waters.

It was hard to tell given the already salty air, but Alice could swear she smelled the ocean. The scent felt cleaner than that of the bog, which was tainted somewhat with decaying matter of all kinds. The short girl sped up, curious to know if she was getting close to the beach.
Alice was not alone on her path through the bog however. Water sloshed as something moved beneath the surface, an ominous black shadow which seemed too large to be anything you'd normally find down there. A glint of steel appeared in the water that may have been familiar to her.
Rising from beneath the waves like a monster found only in the abyss was....a Shelmet? Something seemed off about it though. It's size didn't match that of the shadow, and it didn't seem to move correctly. Most of all was the pair of bright, glowing blue eyes showing through the visor. There was something wrong here....very wrong....
Then it happened. The air sparkled as water was flung in the wake of a pair of wide blue wings, and the Pokemon let out a decisive "QUAAAAACK!" Ah. So that was it! It would appear this was no Shelmet, but a Ducklett donning the leftovers of his last meal! Seemed the Flying-type had taken a souvenir!
Quacking and splashing happily, the 'visor' of the former Shelmet would pop up, revealing the Pokemon's blank stare. It hadn't noticed there was anyone else around! Cursed helmet obscuring his vision! Quacking loudly the Ducklett would fly off....sort of. It was a bit lop sided and the Pokemon crashed into a few things along the way. Seemed he hadn't counted on the wait for the Shelmet's remains.

Oh, how cute! A Shelmet must have lent the Ducklett his helmet, and he was playing around! Or perhaps the former had given the latter the shell when it has evolved into an Accelgor! Alice was a very naive creature at times, but perhaps that was for the best. Giving the Ducklett smile as he flew off, the short girl would proceed forward.

Oblivious to the cruelty of the world, Alice would find that as she moved forward she would once more reach the shore, where a familiar boat and Pokemon sat waiting for her!
Alice couldn't help breaking into a full-on smile as she watched the salty old Wartortle approach in the familiar rustbucket. With a cheerful whoop, she rushed down the beach, ruffling the water-type's headfathers before getting into the boat. Finally!

((And now I haven't been talking much because I recently got a job and have been busy with it, and spending my now limited free time with various things!))
Looks like she had to make another dive for it, lest she get injured again. With care to the egg container held in the backpack on her back, Poppy makes a duck and run for it while Shinx trots carefreely beside her. Seems to him the Yanma is only going after his trainer and he won't get hit no matter what. It makes him sort of smug and has him watching the falling item and his trainer with amusement.
In the world of Pokemon it was always best to expect the unexpected, and for his crime of feeling safe and secure, Shinx would pay the price. It was the Electric-type who would be pelted by the projectile this time. Specifically a large ball of mud which would splatter against his head and back....at least one would hope it was mud. When you were in a bog, smell was not exactly a good indicator.
Wings a buzz and with confirmed hits on both targets, the Yanma would fly off. They'd probably want to move quickly before it returned for a third pass.

Fortunately for Poppy and less so for Shinx, he gets hit by what looks to be mud and takes a little bit of damage. Letting out a yelp of surprise that quickly turns into anger, Shinx shakes himself off violently as Poppy watches the Yanma head off. It might be back again, so she doesn't want to lower her guard, but they're both ready to leave and in low moods. Soggy, dirty, injured.. They were so ready to get to their Poke-lot, and they both trudge forward without comment.
((Finally, my Mime Jr. egg is at 50/50! *w* I'm so excited))
For the time being, it looked like they were safe from the Yanma, and the path's end was just up ahead. Finally they could be done here and get cleaned up. They quicken their steps along the path, Poppy taking care not to jostle the egg in its container in the backpack on her back.
