Julie had chosen, carefully, which pokemon she wanted and memorized the name. It was one thing to read about them in a book, thumbing over the glossy pictures while whispering their names aloud. But standing here, in front of the professor- saying her choice and having the small red ball handed to her, knowing there was a pokemon inside? That was just, something else entirely. Her insides felt all squirmy. Mostly in a good way?
"Thank you Professor," she smiled, holding the pokeball with both hands. She was a little worried she'd drop it. It took a quiet "Julie" from Victoria for her to realize the Professor had more things to hand her. With an embarrassed 'meep' she pawed her bag around so she could flip up the top, letting the potions and pokeballs fall haphazardly into the top before placing the pokedex and fennekin's ball on top. She didn't like it being so unorganized, but she could repack it later on the train to Hoenn.

"Here you go, ma cherie." Victoria handed Julie a clear bag of local candies sold by the train station. Along with a small box of chewy dot gummies, just in case. And also because Victoria needed to pull out the big guns. "Thank you again for understanding."
"Mhm," Julie mumbled, busying herself with unwrapping the pink ribbon around the candies. "I don't mind, Aunt Victoria. I understand." She giggled happily when Victoria patted her head, and popped a little spikey purple candy into her mouth. She'd expected it to be hard, but the sugar melted quickly in her mouth. It was tasty, but she wished the texture was a bit more exciting.
"Do you often have to go other places for work?" Julie asked. Victoria 'hmm'd', pulling Julie into her lap. The girl had to help with it, a bit too big now for the woman to easily move. "Yes, but not always so last minute. Alas, sometimes it is what it is." Victoria hadn't needed to be in Hoenn until six months from now in Lilycove, but she'd received a request from a client to come on site in Rustboro. She didn't want Julie traveling Kalos if she wasn't a short ride away in Lumiose. Thankfully, her darling niece had agreed to travel in Hoenn instead. "Oh, you really are such a dear." Victoria gave Julie a quick side hug, as the train pulled into the station.
