Astriana and Moratath felt ready for the next sevenday, as they took to the skies for more Between training. Astri knew that their first destination was going to be Courtesan Hall. She pictured it in her mind, remembering any important features of the area, least she thought she had. She gave them to her blue dragon, who gave an acknowledgement to her, before jumping between. Unlike the many times before, this time felt a lot longer being enveloped in the coldness. So when Moratath finally emerged, a look of fear came across the blonde's face. She was clinging to her straps more than usual, clearly shaken by what just happened.

"Mine, are you okay?"Moratath's voice asked in a way that alerted his rider that it hadn't just been her shaken. The usually confident pair knew they had come too close to getting lost forever and it scared them.

Yes, but..we have to be more careful. I..that was too close,Astri thought back to her dragon. Thankfully, they were alone, so no one would see the proud pair's emotions right now. This was a strong reminder, to both of them, how easy it was for their lives to end.

6) 5-6: Mostly Success!

If you have a a 3 or lower in Anxiety/Confidence levels, perhaps you needed more fear of Between because something goes wrong and you fail to return and are lost forever... unless you get your coordinates checked.

If you have a 4 in Anxiety/Confidence, you learn a healthy dose of fear as it takes you a bit longer to appear Between. You make it (somehow) but even your dragon is spooked. You know that you almost got lost there, but somehow managed to make it through. For the rest of your rolls on this grid, your Anxiety/Confidence score is down TWO points.

Astriana knew that Redoubt Hold was next for them to go to, but she wasn't feeling confident right now about her memory of the coordinates. She thought she remembered, but she had been shaken by their last jump. She wondered if Moratath would think less of her right now if she reached out to one of their teachers on this one.

I certainly do not think less, I actually think that would be best right now. I want us to get home safely and I admire you having the courage to double check our coordinates,Moratath told his rider in a fondness reserved for her.

Thank you, my dear one,she thought, before she had him reach out to the nearest assistant and get the coordinates verified. Once done, she put those coordinates firmly in her mind, before they hopped between. When they appeared over Redoubt Hold, a sigh of relief was shared between rider and dragon.

Astriana decided to give them a moment, to regather their thoughts, before they headed to Paradise Falls Hold. She took a calming breath, filling both of their mind with a reminder they were strong and could do this. Once she felt ready, she began to picture the coordinates and the key features in her mind of Paradise Falls Hold. She made sure to clearly pass them to Moratath, before he leapt between. This time, there was no issues as they came out of the cold of between and appeared exactly where they needed to be.

That is much better,Moratath admitted to his rider, feeling a bit better after that jump. However, he knew neither of them could become complacent, not after their rocky start. He knew his beautiful warrior of a rider knew that too.

Astriana thought on where was next, Sand's End Hold, if she remembered correctly. As good as their last jump was, she was still feeling the fear from their first jump. Sand's End she remembered some jumps there, but she wasn't so sure on her coordinates.

Might as well get them double checked, just to be on the safe side. We are more useful to our Weyr alive, plus if it keeps you safe, I am definitely for it,Moratath thought to his rider, concerning her worries.

Yeah, I have no desire to die, so go ahead and reach out to the assistant who should be near here,Astri answered him. She felt him do just that, before he passed it to her. She nodded, glad that she had made sure on that one, as she had before. It seemed she had been slightly off with her coordinates, probably do to her nerves from the first jump today. So with them firmly in mind now, she made sure they were steady for both of them. Then she felt Moratath make the jump between, the coldness surrounding them. A few breaths later, they were sailing over the location they had needed.

Astriana was glad that the next jump was to their home, so she felt more confident in those coordinates. While she knew anything was possible, she figured they could get home without any assistance for this one. She allowed herself a steadying breath, before giving the coordinates to her dragon under her. She felt Moratath's understanding, before she watched him hop Between. When they came out of the coldness, she felt a lot of relief as they appeared over their Weyr.

Good to be home again. Let's head down and gather ourselves, before continuing,Moratath suggested, as he headed for the ground.

That was exactly what I was thinking,Astri admitted with a mental laugh to him.

4. Green Plains Cothold (Cothold beholden to White Cliff Weyrhold)

Boons Remaining: 2

Running their hands over their face, weary as they were to take another head to head to thread -- especially after the scares their classmates had taken the week prior, Nonami had to try and gear themself up for yet another week of running this circuit. Negoncath's support was quiet but a strong wall in which they could mentally brace, for they were a team. They would prove themselves able capable to fight thread, and be able to graduate into a wing.

Terrifying, but. They could do it. They could.

Leaning up off of Negoncath's neck, they braced as the spritely young green launched herself in the air -- gaining some clearance as Nonami visualized their first destination -- Waters Edge Cothold ...

Everyone else succeeds!

With a flinch, Nonami let go of the straps, trying to center themselves slightly.

'It's alright, my sweetest, bravest. After such a time, certainly there was no shame in getting coordinates checked after all, right?

After the briefest pause, and with coordinates, they winked between--to appear above the cothold once more.

Waters Edge was but the first stop on their route, with the rest of the circuit to go. Nonami took a breath, for Oasis Hold was up next. The minor hold had been beautiful when Nonami had run this circuit the week prior, and there's a minor flicker of a bright thought that shunned away the darker thoughts of needing to check coordinates so quickly into their run.

We could go visit after graduation. Negoncath's voice is bright and sweet, helping to ground her small rider. Maybe we could shadow a searchrider -- that sounds fun.

Nonami smiled, giving a small nod. 'I'd love that, Negoncath.' But for now, Nonami recalled the visual of the Hold, giving the smallest urge onwards...

Or.... Was those the right coordinates?

Maybe.. Maybe I should bring that up later. There's a touch of sadness to Negoncath's voice, as Nonami's shoulders fall.

'N-no, Negoncath... We'll have a nice long talk about it later, okay?' Shame flooded Nonami, distracted to the point where they couldn't focus on the visuals. If they weren't careful... 'Ngh... I'm sorry, love. Let's ask Orioth once more?'

Though her head was low, Negoncath obliged -- and after obtaining the correct coordinates from Orioth once more, made the jump to Oasis Hold.

There was quiet as they appeared over Oasis Hold, and Nonami could only stroke Negoncath's shoulder quietly. There was shame on both sides -- distracted to the point where death had loomed over them not once, but twice -- certainly they could get this right. The previous week had been flawless. Surely they could at least come close?

'To Stoney Tower Hold?' Their coordinates couldn't be wrong again, could they?

Yes, my dearest.

See! I knew you could do it! Negoncath all but crowed, glancing back at her rider with pride.

With a stroke of confidence at a successful jump, and that their run was half over, Nonami braced themselves against the leather straps. One more jump, and then the jump home. They were close--they could do this!

Calling up Green Plains Cothold for Negoncath, they braced themselves once more ...

If this is your First or Second roll and you have a 1 or 2 in any of your stats, you are going to botch pretty dang hard and fail to make the leap. This ain't no child's play, after all. You need to be alert, you need to know your s**t, and you need to know how the heck to do this!

If this is your third roll, you manage to succeed! Woot!

If this is your fourth or fifth roll, and you have a 5 in any of experience levels, you wind up mucking up and fail make the leap. Oops! Perhaps you were over confident or you felt too self-assured.

Everyone else? You're good to go!

If you fail to make the leap, you must either keep yourself from dying by asking for help, or taking a Scare and dropping your confidence down by one point! If you roll this three times or more, let Uta know, so she can axe an NPC to take the fall in your place.

The burst of air is a happy surprise to Nonami, blinking slightly as instead of the long void of between was the bright sights of the Cothold beneath them. Nonami absolutely beamed, but didn't let themself get swept away in the victory of another successful jump -- they had one more to go, after all.

The jump home the only thing remaining, Nonami settled back as they thought of Western Weyr, of home. Their mama, their dad -- warm thoughts of siblings, and, well -- him.

After the reality check, M'ika took a moment longer before passing the coordinates on to Pallath. He wasn't about to risk either of them on his own arrogance. Even the green was slightly subdued as she simply recieved the information and prepared to jump.

If both gave relived sighs as they emerged from Between, only they would know, and neither one would ever mention it.

Alright Girly, once more. Time to head home. And didn't that just feel weird to say... or rather think. Home. Something he hadn't had or felt until the Sands when she had come into the world, and into his life. Turning it upside down in all the best ways.

He sent Pallath the headings and without any hesitation, they popped Between. One, two, three... and there they were. Home.

Ah, their first Betweening without help. Wren had woken up with excitement in his veins, and felt Nimrath's lazy contentment knowing what would come. The Bronze's tail was flicking back and forth easily, those eyes whirling a lazy blue and green as he watched His get ready for the morning. Wren had been diligent in coordinate studies since they'd began, and his eye for detail was impeccable. No matter where they chose to go, Wren knew what certain features looked like, where they sat, and could get a terribly clear picture. While Wren might be a bit more awake, the lazy bronze was still sleepy when they joined the other Weyrlings, making idle complaints to his rider as the other bound the straps firmly.

Stop picking at me, Nim. I know you're tired, but it'll be okay. The Bronze huffed as he slipped his tail across Wren's legs, looking at his siblings and brushing an affectionate croon across their minds. This would all go swimmingly.

Once Wren was mounted, and they in the air, it wasn't hard for the pair at all to pop Between and over to Western Hold, a grin curling on the Rider's face, "Told you that you weren't too tired, cutie. Ready for the next one?"

If this is your first roll for this circuit, and you have an anxiety level of 1 or 2, you find yourself in dire straits and panicking during your first jump. If you have a 2, you make it out, though it certainly took a lot longer and you're now feeling extra-stressed about this entire affair. If you had a 1, you get lost forever... unless you get your coordinates double-checked.

The second took a bit longer than Wren would've liked. He needed to get a better feel for the Hold, and so when Between took a few seconds longer than his norm, the boy sighed, "Let's take a lap over the Hold before we pop Between again, okay Nim?"
