A warrior to the core, Penthesilea has spent her entire life training to be stronger, faster and braver than all the others. These after all are the ideals for all within her family and herd. She is clever and can just as easily talk herself out of a situation as she can fight her way out, though she would certainly rather fight than anything else. She believes that males are the weaker gender and their only real purpose in life is to help produce new life. She is a follower of traditions passed down for many generations as they are important to the structure and stability of the family and herd.

Though she may be a warrior Penthesilea also has a soft mothering side, which occasionally comes out. Foals or shier members of the herd are generally the only ones to see this softer side. The rest of the time she carries herself with a commanding presence, demanding respect.

Born of a warrior female who came from a long line of warriors and an unknown stallion Penthesilea had a lot to live up to. She, along with her two siblings, were born into the Antianeira herd. The herd was a large group of females who trained and lives the warriors life and did their best to remain as male free as possible. These females had tight bonds with each other, trained hard and kept the traditions alive that had been passed down for generations. Penthesilea, even as a foal, fit well into the role of warrior. She took her training very seriously and began to excel in all aspects of fighting. Adulthood brought new challenges, greater training and more opportunities for Penthesilea and her sister. Their brother however was cast out of the herd at this point. He could have stayed, served the herd as nothing more than a slave but he had grown to hate the Sisters and what they stood for. Penthesilea was glad to see him go, for he would have been nothing but trouble for the herd had he remained. With the distraction of her brother gone she could concentrate on completing her warrior training.

However she also learned of the diplomatic side of the herd. All decisions were made by the Queen with help of her circle of Royal Advisors. Seeing an opportunity to better herself and help the herd in an extra way Penthesilea began to pursue this path. Her sister Yakut had also taken a path that led her to new training as the herds healer and Shamaness. It seemed that with the exception of her brother her mothers efforts to bring new strong blood into the herd had worked. It did not take long for Penthesilea to catch the Queens attention. She was well known on the training grounds but to also show great proficiently in diplomatic ways. It was at this time she was taken under wing by one of the Queen’s Advisors to be trained more closely for this role.

With a great devotion to herd traditions, a warrior’s way of life and with an advisor’s mind Penthesilea quickly began to climb the ranks. It wasn’t long before the Queen invited her to become one of her Royal Advisors. Penthesilea was honored by this and accepted the rank. For many years she served the Queen with utter loyalty, acting as bodyguard when needed as well as advisor.

Trouble began to stir in the herd not long after this. The Queen had bred to three different stallions yet had not produced a single female offspring. Since males were nothing more than slaves to them none of her children could be named heir. The lack of an heir and the Queen age began to stir others into action. Many began to vie for the Queens attention hoping to be named her successor. This eventually caused the herd to split into two sides, one that supported the Queen and trusted her to pick an heir when the time was right and the other who had decided that one of the warriors, who was the best at the time, should become the next Queen.

This eventually led to an all out war between the two sides. The fighting lasted for days. The loses to both sides were great yet neither seemed to be victorious. During the fighting the Queen with her loyal body guards and advisors was attacked and badly injured. As the fighting raged on the Queen stole herself away. The healer came but there was little that could be done to save her. Knowing that her herd would completely fall apart if nothing was done she called Penthesilea to her side. In her final breaths the Queen passed her rank on to her trust Advisor and bodyguard, wishing her to bring the herd back together. With the royal guards and advisors gathered around to hear these words Penthesila became the new Queen. There was little she could do at this point to stop the fighting, both sides had come to realize they would not win and many began to flee in the confusion, unsure of what would happen if no new Queen was found.

When the fighting finally ended only a few of the herd remained. It was then announced of Penthesilea’s succession to the rank of Queen and that the herd would be restored under her rule. Knowing that many of their Sister’s fled Penthesilea sent her remaining herd members out across the land to find and bring them back. She herself, along with her sister Yakut, also took this duty on. Traveling together the pair now search for any of their missing Sisters as well as new members to rebuilt the herd to its former glory.

Cleite is as loyal a they come. She has been with Penthesilea since they were both young and the bond the two share together is extremely strong. She is more than just a familiar to the pale mare, she is also an acknowledged herd member and is valued for her opinions on various topics. Though small compared to the Soquili within the herd Cleite is a fierce fighter, willing to put her life on the line to protect those she holds close. She also can act as a stand in when Penthesilea is not in herd territory, leading the herd until the mare returns once more.

Bringing Them Back - Penthesilea's number one goal is to bring her herd back to it's former glory. This involves finding all of the old members as well as recruiting new members to keep the traditions and blood alive. Until this happens she will have little time for anything else.
