Cloud nodded his head fiercely, so much so that he nearly toppled over! He was quick to right himself back up though. "I would! Thank you, Cheri~" She really was a kind friend! And now that he wasn't going to be hit, Cloud was sure Noah 2 would grow to be much more useful! With an effortful huff, he pushed his egg out to join Cheri's and watched approvingly as it bobbed and dipped in the shallow water.
Things were off to a great start and Beardia's return only doubled that, so now they were off to a super great start! Cloud bounced his feet excitedly, they were really doing it now! "Oh, Cheri! I have a question." It'd come to him at the same time the new voice did. "What are we going to do if the eggs hatch while they're still learning how to swim?"

Beardia took her time in answering Cheri's question, mostly because she was using it to take in the many new faces around her and taking note that the number was steadily growing. Why were all the eggs hatching so quickly and in this chain reaction? What had changed in the few minutes she'd been away, and was it local or general? "A few are flavored hard candies—I did not have the chance to ask which flavors—and chocolates. You may take your pick," she answered while the questions still buzzed around in her head. "After this next group hatches I'll transport them, but my return will be much faster now that I won't be bringing back food."

A lone figure slipped back amongst the group silently. It hovered at the edge, directly behind Castle in fact, and watched it try and fail to collect its first meal. Noodle—for that was the name it'd learned the one who had hatched it, Cloud, had named it. And, although it knew its appendages more closely resembled DNA double helix, it could understand the connection—waited a moment before it addressed the older creature. "Do you require–" That was too formal. If it was too stiff it ran the risk of alienating itself. "Do you need help? I could hold the bowl for you or even the food itself," it offered. The most durable of relationships were forged with mutual benefit, and charitable offers were a step in that crucial direction.

Huh, that was a good question. One that Cheri hadn’t bothered to consider. Maybe the pokemon born from the eggs would float just as the eggs did. That made sense, didn’t it? Or, if they were lucky, they’d be some part water and immediately take to the act of swimming.
"Hm. Well, they’re not that far out. We can pull them out of the water if we need to." Because letting baby pokemon drown would likely see them removed from the island quickly. That’d be no good, they hadn’t established an army or a donut shop yet. The bright pink Espurr gave a solid nod of her head. "Yes, we’ll do that."
Cheri stared at the candy treat options as Beardia explained. She’d not had any form of hard candy in her time existing on the face of this planet. Cotton candy certainly wasn’t hard, neither were donuts. And pure sugar, while more like sand in texture, wasn’t exactly hard. Decisions, decisions.
She turned to Cloud, pointing at the offering from Beardia. "What would you like to try, Cloud?" She asked, curious if her friend had a preference. On what to try. Chocolate sounded tasty; she’d seen it as an option for donuts, so logic dictated it was in that tier. She looked at Beardia as well as she waited on the egg pokemon’s response. "What would you suggest?"
Castle was startled, leg forms flailing out a bit as it nearly toppled in response. The many eyes swiveled from the bowl to Noodle – where’d they come from, had they always been there? – staring in alarm. Eventually, the fortress relaxed, glancing between the half-crushed bowl it’d been attempting to pick food from back to Noodle. Its limbs were slender and probably easier to maneuver compared to the stacked clunkiness Castle was working with.
Castle finally gave the equivalent of a nod, the entire mass lurching slightly forward then back. For a moment, it might’ve looked like it was about to tip over once again. ’Yes. Please? It asked, a multitude of voices with cascading tones responded at once, quiet though due to their uncertainty. They certainly didn’t want to cause trouble.’Though, we don’t know… how to eat. Do you?’ Beardia had mentioned it was suitable for them, but they were still figuring out what they were exactly.
"That's a good idea," Cloud said, once more impressed by his friend's cleverness. "Okay!"
It was a good thing that Cheri mentioned their contingency plan too because no sooner had he pushed his egg out than it began to crack. "Oh, oh, oh!" Cloud took quick, albeit careful, steps into the water to retrieve the egg and spread his arms to accept the gift the tide brought in. There was a sharp crack and the top of the shell caved in on itself, from the darkness a fat needle, whose point caught the sun, poked out before a face followed. It was a worm!
"Hello, new baby!" Cloud greeted gleefully. He refrained from giving the hatchling its newborn pat, which was a shame! The shiny egg really wanted to but he also didn't want to be stabbed by Needle-Head's head needle.

Cloud stepped back from the ebbing water, his feet making a soft crunch crunch crunch noise as he stepped through the wet sand, and let Needle Head join the rest of the crew. He needed his hands and attention free to make a big decision between hard candy and chocolate. He couldn't remember exactly, but Cloud thought he remembered having chocolate before, at the one fancy party he and Huester had attended once upon a time; it felt like years and years and YEARS ago, but he was sure it hadn't really been that long.
"I think I'd like the hard candy!" Cloud finally announced, and then proceeded to scoop up 5 pieces of candy from Beardia's outstretched palm. "Allow me," she offered and, right before his very eyes, a piece of candy unwrapped itself: the shiny blue plastic crinkling as it folded itself back. "Woooooahhhh," he breathed, then proceeded to stuff the naked confection into his mouth.

Noodle waited, silent as a crypt, for Castle to collect its many many selves and made a mental note to announce its presence next time. It was such a curious creature. From its point of view, the sentient structure had hundreds of tiny lights shining from every inch; it was hard to look at, honestly. Noodle looked away.
How could many become one? An asinine question. "Many becoming one" was the most simplistic explanation of everything: atoms bonded together to create molecules, and molecules were the building blocks for everything else. Noodle continued staring at the bowls long after Castle had asked its question, it wasn't ignoring them, it was just pondering over a question it had never even considered in its 5 minutes and 33—34, 35, 36—seconds of life. "I..." An absent arm brushed the smooth surface of the Deoxys' face. "Do not." Of course, it knew the process behind eating: you placed an edible, non-poisonous substance into your mouth, broke it down into non-threatening chunks, and then swallowed. The digestive system did the rest. But... what did one do when they had no mouth? You couldn't complete steps 2 or 3 without 1. "Do you have a main mouth?" Noodle inquired, well aware of how odd the question was. Wait, did Castle even know what a mouth was?
Noodle tried again.
"A large opening, perhaps on your undercarriage? A creature of your make-up should be able to collect nutrients in one attempt and then be able to divide it amongst the masses." That was the most efficient way.

Cheri watched closely as Cloud scooped up several of the hard candies and the Beardia unwrapped one for him to enjoy. It was amazing how freely older and stronger psychics could use their abilities for measly tasks. Hopefully, she too would be able to do such a thing.
"Ooohh, what flavor is it?" She inquired, eyeing the remaining hard candies before picking one up for herself to consider consuming. Fortunately, she knew well enough how to handle paper and unwrap it herself. It was still so odd to see sugar in a solid form like this, but she was not one to shy away from the opportunity. Popping it into her mouth, she sat and marinated on the taste. It was good! Sweet, like cotton candy, but hard.
And then as the candy melted away in her mouth the sugar took hold and Cheri began to vibrate. Yup, this was real sugar alright.
Castle shuffled (well, more like lurched hazardously from side to side) as Noodle posed its questions. Well, that certainly made the task even more difficult if neither of them knew what to do. Some of the eyes focused back on the bowl, while others continued to linger on the Deoxys.
”Uhm.” Castle’s tone waivered, confusion laced behind its words. Much as Noodle’s second description was appreciated, it didn’t quite clear up the matter. Castle had many holes, at least if all the various spots its entities stared out were any indication. Could it shove food through one of those? How would they divide it though, there were so many of them on the inside? Was sharing a subconscious like sharing nutrients? ”What… are nutrients?” Was that another name for food? This was truly, the struggle of the century.
While the ‘caretakers’ ate sugar and legendary babies tried to master the art of food consumption, Noah 2 continued the arduous task of collecting unhatched eggs from across the landscape. Or he had been at this point he’d taken a well-deserved break, fanning himself to keep away the exhaustion.
Had Cheri not been distracted, she’d have reprimanded him for his slacking. Why was he doing all this work anyways? Who even knew? The Oshawott’s gaze wondered off towards the lake. Oh, to be able to just splash around as he’d done when he’d first hatched. The water was nice, and he longed to get back to it.
Noah 2 blinked as he stared at the water longer. There were bits of eggshell floating along the water top, shifted around by the gentle flow of a light wind. One, however, looked a bit chunkier than the others. In fact, it wasn’t just an eggshell, but a full-blown egg.
Noah 2 jumped to his flippered feet. While Cloud had kept an eye on his own egg, Cheri had not and the poor thing, with cracks lacing its outside, was straying into deeper waters. That was bad. The Oshawott panicked briefly. On one hand, he didn’t want to catch the Espurr’s attention and have her realize he was slacking.
On the other hand, he was no heartless monster, and hatching into a body of water couldn’t end well. He took a deep breath, chest puffing out, and dashed for the edge of the water. Consequences be damned, his gut told him this was a problem and so he’d do something about it!
Noah 2 dove into the water and for a moment, there was complete bliss. His feet kicked into a steady rhythm as nature took its course and the subconscious knowledge of how to push himself forward, kicking the water into a current that worked in his favor and propel him to the drifting egg.
He breached the surface and put the pedal to the metal. Within a minute (or maybe even less), he was next to the egg. Just in time too, he could already see the makeshift glimmers of light shining through the shell’s cracks. Noah 2 reached out, trying to figure out the quickest way back to shore before it entered the world before he found himself shielding his eyes as it suddenly was enveloped in a full wash of light. Oh no!
Cloud smacked his lips around his candy, pushed it from the left cheek to the right cheek, then finally let it settle on his tongue. What flavor was it? One he'd never had before! But... it was definitely fruity, Cloud could tell that much! "Luk froot," he sprayed. The experience was oddly familiar and there was an essence of a memory teasing the fringes of his brain, but... it... was... just too far! While he worked his candy and started unwrapping a second one, he watched as Cheri ate hers. "Huz..." he fell silent and watched in awe as she began to vibrate.
"Oooo..." Cloud reached an arm out to touch his friend.
