Lafayette chuckled at Mel’s offers. It wasn’t everyday yo ran into a trainer who was more than willing to let you take on their pokemon personally. Oh sure, the more common thing was battles and what not and that was probably the most one ever expected to get from another trainer. Maybe he would very much take her up on the offer. After all, Mel’s pokemon looked pretty darn tough, and he always liked a challenged.
His eyes gleamed a little as she explained Z in further detail. "A Zygarde?" He’d never heard of such a creature before, though his type combination was pretty unique as far as his understanding. There weren’t that many ground-dragon types out there and well, it sounded like a hearty combination. Tough and rough. "Well thank ya sheila. I’m thinkin ‘ I will. I look forward ta it." Lafayette grinned and winked. Obviously, when he wasn’t all suited up in a fancy rented tux he’d give it a go. "How’d ya happen ta find’em?" He inquired a little more, curious where such a creature originated from. It certainly didn’t seem like something you’d find in the forests nearby or anything.
"Yeh, my yakka keeps me busy." Lafayette remarked nonchalantly. Which was probably an understatement; but you really didn’t get to do a lot of socializing when you were flying around and collecting badges or pokemon or whatever other nonsense Juliean had him doing. It wasn’t as though he missed it much, Anville was hardly a big town for socializing anyways so… it was just something he was kind of use to. He grinned though as she commented on his word choice, giving her a solid nod. "Yep! Yeh got it sheila." He blinked and perked up as Mel’s attention shifted to address her starter’s eating manners, giving a solid chuckle and grin. He checked for his own team, noting Noah plastered to the glass with Cher I standing close beside him, staring out at the crowds of people and seeming to unnerve a couple who happened to catch her look.
"Hm?" He looked back at Mel, considering a moment before smiling and nodding. "I could go for a n**. Smells pretteh good." He raised a free hand to point in the direction that Lucy seemed to run off in. "Think ya Monnie would agree. Let’s take a squizz and bog in before all the good stuffs gone." He remarked, starting to move in that direction with Mel once everything was confirmed.

Mel smiled, nodding her head. She smirked quizzically when Lafayette seemed to actually agree to her suggestion of wrestling with Z, but chuckled, not at all taking it back. Honestly, she would love to see that, for a whole host of reasons. She couldn't imagine Lafayette actually managing to bring the legendary down, but... if he did, it would be one hell of a sight to see. This Lafayette guy sure was one... hell of a character.
She blinked when he asked how she happened to find Z, and smiled in thought, shrugging her shoulders a little and folding her free arm over her chest a bit. "It's a bit... complicated, to be honest? Do you know about Zygarde's different forms?" she started. She didn't mind telling him, but she didn't want to go on a spiel about Zygarde's shapes if he knew. Then again, given his question, and the tone of his voice when he repeated the name... "It grows depending on how many cells are available to it," she explained, taking the initiative, though giving him a pause to respond if he wanted, "But initially, it's just a single little cell. Not... a cell, cell, like on a microscopic level, but just a... small form. I found him when he was like that, just a... 'Core', I think it's called. I found him in the gutters in Castelia..." She frowned a little when she thought about it. "I still don't really know what he was doing there.... I'm not even sure he does. He said he had something important to do... but he never explained what. And I don't think he's really mentioned it sense..." She trailed off, thinking back to that meeting, and back to the years that had passed sense. She shook her head, though, and smiled, looking back up at Lafayette. "At any rate, that was years ago. He's been with me ever sense," she finished.
Yakka.... She needed to ask him about that term. She smiled, trying not to look too amused, once again, and couldn't help but beam a little in pride when she properly understood the term. She was unfortunately distracted by her starter almost immediately thereafter, but managed to bring the conversation back around by asking if Lafayette was hungry. His answer was... just about perfect. Letting go of him, to free up his arms as they approached the food, she held out a hand, and listed off her fingers. Lafayette listened as Mel explained how she came to be in the ownership of Z, his expression often changing between thoughtfulness and confusion as he mulled over her words to better understand. So… it didn’t normally start that big? It started as a … what was it a ‘core’? That sounded like some kind of pre-evolution or something by the way she explained it, though he’d never heard of a pokemon that was made up of other little parts. It was kind of confusing to try and put together.
"Huh…," He murmured, raising a hand and just rubbing his chin in thought. Really, he didn’t have much to comment on in response. It was a new think to him what she was explaining, though it was rather weird that such a creature was residing in a gutters of Castelia. "Odd place feh a’ pokie." Was the only thing he could say in regards to the story. He was quiet a moment before grinning again. ”G’donya findin’ him then!" Lafayette would have to ask later about what all Z could do; he was honestly curious but he certainly didn’t want to wear her out on his questions. Well… at least not in a place like this. He’d maybe ask later if he could give the pokemon a look over just to gauge a little more.
He smiled as she needed to agree to checking out the food, promptly sauntering his way over to the buffet table and taking a look at all the goods. If there was any benefit to swanky parties, it was the fact that they offered such a wide selection of food options. Of course some of the stuff he didn’t really… recognize but Lafayette was never really one to fear the unknown and without much hesitation, started picking randomly from the table and shoveling sample bites into his mouth to figure out what he might want to eat. Whatever façade of gentleman-ness he might’ve had was pretty much up in smoke as he went about popping bites into his mouth like someone at a free-for-all picnic. He did pause though, cheeks a bit full of food as Mel inquired about some more lingo, blinking, chewing and then swallowing before resuming trying to pick through the food.
"Heh… yeh don’ wanta guessin’ sheila?" Lafayette mused with a cheeky grin. He gave a nod of approval though at least to her guess on what ‘squizz’ meant. "Yeh got it." He remarked, popping what looked to be like a dumpling into his mouth and chewing before speaking. "See, I don’ see why others have a hard time understandin’ meh. You’re doin’ foine. Yeh got mates tha' speak a lot a' strine?"

Mel was a little caught up in her memories of Z when Lafayette replied, but she still heard him. "Yeah, 'specially a legendary..." It was one of those moments where you realize, about a second too late, and a second just-in-time, that you might not want to say what you're about to say, but before you can decide whether you want to say it or not, it sort of slips out. It was at least softer at the end, and she was still sort of distracted. Maybe he wouldn't catch it, or maybe he wouldn't care. She didn't. She just knew Zygarde was, technically, among the ranks of those powerful mythical pokemon you hear about but virtually never see. As far as she was concerned, it just made the circumstances of meeting Z all the stranger. Beyond that, she didn't really think of him as 'special'-- well, not in a legendary sense, at least.
Shaking herself from her thoughts, she flashed a smile at Lafayette. "Yeah, I got rather lucky finding him," she admitted, then looked ahead contemplatively, "He helped me out of a few situations in the past..." Gosh, all this talking was really getting her stuck in memory mode. She tried to brush it off and distract herself with food, but before she could, Lafayette beat her to the table, and she was more distracted watching him. An amused smirk crossed her face and she folded her arms over her chest, watching as he stuffed his face trying everything. "Enjoying the food?" she mused, finally crossing the remaining distance to pop a small dumpling into her mouth as well.
She swallowed and shook her head with a smile as he poked at her for not trying to at least guess what he was saying, but at least the one she did take a swing at, she got right. He didn't answer her other questions,t hough.... She chuckled, trying (and somewhat failing) not to roll her eyes a bit in amusement at his... 'confusion' over other people not understanding. "I imagine they expect to understand what they're about to hear and get confused when they have to actually think about it," she remarked, bringing her gaze back to him, "Meanwhile, I've been accused of overthinking things. So perhaps that's why." She shook her head and rested her side against the table as she combed over the plates for a mini quiche to snack on. "But, no, I don' really have anyone who talks quite like you. Some of my relatives use a few of the same terms, but not all of them, and none of them have quite the same accent," she added, plucking a pastry from the table and taking a bite, "Imagine it probably does help a bit, though. Exposure to it, and all."

Brian was admittedly still a bit anxious, not only over Phia, but over all the damage done to the room. He could (and, let's be honest, probably would) just claim that it was the wild pokemon that were responsible for it, and in a way, they were. Unfortunately... it was really his (or Mel's, rather) pokemon that were actually the ones doing the attacks that did the damage. Still, nearly all the pokemon were taken care of, at this point, only a few more left, and he decided he may as well distract himself with Mel's new pokemon. He looked down at the pokeball, rolling it around in his hand a bit, before finally releasing the little guy.
Brian put the ball away as the riolu shook his head, then looked up at Brian with wide eyes. The brunette jumped a bit as Z suddenly let himself out, and the riolu briefly looked at the pokemon in surprise. The legend must have said something, though, 'cause the riolu appeared to understand, and then smile, turning back to Brian expectantly. 'Hi there!'

Lafayette stopped shoving his mouth full of morsels a moment to eye Mel as she seemed to sort of fade into her memories. He could kind of tell that she wasn’t trying to go into a monologue about the whole thing, or at least that’s what he assumed she was trying to avoid doing –he’d encountered folks before who proceeded to tell their whole life story the moment you let them- but was stopping herself. Not really that he cared all that much; it sounded like an interesting story whether she told him or not. He did catch the mentions of ‘legendary’ but wasn’t quite sure how to process it. He’d never seen a Zygarde before and he’d heard rumors of different legendaries and such but… he’d also come to encounter people who considered pokemon that were legendaries “legendary” and what not and at this point, simply considered it in passing.
Though Mel seemed a little brighter than those boasting fools and a little more hesitant after mentioning it. Lafayette just swallowed the mouthful he had, giving her a grin instead as he nodded in approval. "G’donya sheila. Sounds like ya a lucky buggah." He took back to shoving some of the food in his mouth, pausing and swallowing again as Mel inquired if he was enjoying it. "Sorreh sheila. Been a while since I was able to bog in to some tucka’." He remarked with a grin. Which was pretty much true when he thought about it; the last proper meal he could recall was back at the Renaissance Fair and that had been quite some time ago. In between that it had just been pecking and snacks that hardly kept you full for long. He’d probably eaten one good meal at some point between then and now but well… he certainly wasn’t remembering it.
As Mel explained why people probably didn’t understand him, a cheeky smirk crossing his face as much as he tried to hide it. "Oh yeh?" He mused, retrieving a dumpling for himself and popping it into his mouth, chewing slowly and looking as though he were trying to think really hard about what she was saying, though there was a semblance of amusement on his face that suggested otherwise.
"Hm." Was finally the remark Lafayette came up with on that comment. It made sense, he knew it made sense, but he was more commonly used to people picking fights and mocking than trying to learn to understand. If Mel was one of the few who was willing to ‘overthink’ and learn, well then who was he to comment? "Use ta bullin’ ovah it. Noice ta yak and not have a problem." He remarked, popping another bite of food in his mouth, absently swiping the back of the tux sleeve over it as he thought a bit more.
"Yeh, they do? Thought ya had a bit of ‘centie to ye speak. Where ya from again?" Lafayette grinned, stepping away from the table finally and swiping his hands free of food debris as he looked back at Mel curiously for her answer before his attention shifted else where. "’Nough ‘bout yakkin’ though. What all is goin’ on at this gala?" He frowned, placing his hands on his hips and glancing around. "We goin’ ta get to see the fishies or somethin’? "

Mel smiled, a bigger smile than her usual, softer one, because not only did his remark earn a smile-- but she was both amused, and a little uncertain on how to feel, at being called a... 'buggah'. Bugger, she was pretty sure, was the word he was using, which was one of those ones that she was familiar with. It wasn't like it was a bad term, just.... a little funny. And it always made her think of caterpie when she heard it. "Very lucky, yes," she agreed.
She chuckled and shook her head when he apologized, waving a hand dismissively through the air before pushing her fingers back through her short hair. "Don' worry about it. If you don't mind the staring, I don't either," she reassured him, flashing a bit of a playful smirk. It was true, some people were staring over at them, but most had already moved on to their conversation. Meanwhile, she swiped up a few more bits to snack on, glancing over to check on the pokemon. "Don' s'pose you're pokemon are hungry, are they?" she asked, leaning down to absently hand some food to Lucy as the monferno wandered over to tug her dress in request for some.
Her attention shifted slightly to the conversation about, well... their conversation. She smiled some as he went full out on the lingo, and she gave herself the excuse of chewing food to make time to consider it. She smiled more, though, as she swallowed, and gave a nod. "I would imagine so... I can't say I've really had that problem, but if people are having a hard time understanding..." She chuckled, flashing another playful little look. "Hope they haven't given you too much of a hard over it," she remarked. Some people got a little... frustrated when they didn't understand things. Her dad could be that way at times. He probably wouldn't have nearly as much fun talking to Lafayette. Most likely end up asking him if he knew how to 'talk proper (boy)', and start grating friction. And given Lafayette's remark about wrestling pokemon.... Well, she wasn't sure she wanted to see the outcome of that interaction.
She tossed the remainder of a chocolate covered strawberry in her mouth as she handed another to Lucy, who's eyes went wide upon sinking her teeth into it, her flaming tail wagging happily. "I'm from Castelia," she answered, wiping her hands off a bit, but still mulling over the table for some more appetizers, "But, I'm not quite sure where the accent comes from. Got it on my mum's side of the family." She looked up as he asked about the 'gala', then smiled, grabbing another mini quiche and finally pushing off the table. "We can. Like I said, I don' imagine this will be all too engaging, but, still, it might be worth looking around," she admitted, taking a bit, and moving to start walking, giving a gesture towards Noah, "You're 'mate' sure seems to be enjoying it." Which was, of course.... pretty adorable.

Lafayette scoffed, giving only a quick glance to eye the folk eyeing them. He’d figured there were looks but they quickly went back to their own chatter, which meant there would be no need to get them to mind their own business. He was suited up and as here as a guest after all; he knew how to keep his nose clean in situations like this. Usually.
He quirked an eyebrow at Mel’s inquiry, glancing back to locate his pokemon. He supposed it was in good order to make sure his team was fed as well; if he hadn’t been eating proper then it was sure as hell fact that they probably hadn’t either. "Yeh… good point." He murmured thoughtfully. Noah’s face was still glued to the aquarium glass, only having moved from one face of glass to another to try and get better looks at the inhabitants. Cheri just stalked close behind, her own attention shifted to staring out at the people instead, though it seemed to shift towards Lafayette and Mel as she sensed they were being thought about. With a less than graceful jerk of his head, he motioned that they come over, frown on his face as Cheri had a moment of difficulty peeling the Dewott away and dragging him over.
Noah didn’t look at all pleased about having to stop staring at all the glorious water creatures and their habitat, immediately puffing his cheeks out to show his agitation, arms folding over his chest. Lafayette just rolled his eyes, kneeling down and rapping a knuckle against the top of the Dewott’s head in response. "Don’ get ya knickahs in a knot mate. You wan’ a bit of tuckah?" He inquired, watching as the Dewott rubbed at the top of his head. The frown subsisded though at the mentions of food and immediately Noah’s chest was poofing out again as he gave an excited cheer. Lafayette just shook his head, reaching over and just sort shoveling some appetizers and such onto a small plate before handing it off to the excited Dewott. He handed Cheri something as well, a crème-filled pastry thing that seemed to be in her particular interest. Lafayette didn’t really care if shoveling food onto a plate for his pokemon was seen as odd or earned him even more looks. He had to admit, it was hard to maintain the gentleman façade here; Mel was far more laid back about it than his mother usually was and he just couldn’t help slipping into his common mannerisms.
"Nah sheila. They don’ stay standin’ long enough usually." He grinned, returning his focus to Mel once his pokemon were handled. A look of surprise did cross his face as she mentioned she was Castelia. "Realleh? From Unoi too then huh? Small world." Not that it was entirely impossible or anything, but it was always humorous to run into some from your region, especially when you were in a different one. "Sounds g’dah me. Think we can take a lil’ swimmy? Though didn’ bring my togs." He joked, following after Mel as she started to move off, giving a little gesture to his pokemon to follow along. The last thing he needed was for them to disappear and cause trouble anyways.

Mel nodded absently as Lafayette agreed to the idea of feeding his pokemon, still doing a bit of snacking of her own. She smiled, though, as she watched his espurr try and bring Noah over, swallowing and glancing at Lafayette. "Your dewott certainly seems quite fascinated with all the exhibits. I take it you two haven't been to an aquarium before? Or at least, he hasn't?" she remarked conversationally. Or perhaps he was just attracted to the water. Or maybe he hadn't been with many pokemon of his typing before?
She watched as the two interacted, listening curiously. So 'tuckah' was certainly food, ro snack, or something along those lines. She'd figured, from before, but this pretty much confirmed it. She finished her won food and clapped her hands together to clean them, smiling a bit as he turned his attention back to the conversation. Definitely a fighter, then. Lafayette seemed the sort that preferred to use his hands to do his work, rather than words, and given his remarks earlier, she wasn't surprised to find that applied to disagreements as well. She nodded when he remarked on her home town -- er, region -- and stepped away from the table. She quirked an eyebrow when he mentioned swimming, and though she could tell he was joking, seemed to get a thoughtful expression at the remark. "Actually..." she mused, looking thoughtfully at one of the doors very distinctly marked 'staff only'. She glanced back at Lafayette, still looking contemplative, before promptly grabbing his sleeve, and pulling him along.
"'Scuze me, I need to take a look at something," she remarked, flashing something to the security guard before brushing past him, and making her (and Lala's) way passed the door. She looked around, letting go of him to hold the door for the pokemon, including Lucy, who looked a bit baffled and confused through her mouthful of food as she followed, several more pastries still clutched in her hands. "Hmm... C'mon. Think top of the tanks are this way," she remarked, making her way towards a set of stairs.

Hm?"" Lafayette remarked as Mel commented on Noah’s reactions to the aquarium scenery. He glanced over at the Dewott, now shoveling food into his mouth at an alarming rate while Cheri just nibbled away at the pastry she’d been given. "S’pose he hasn’… these kind of places aren’ realleh our fanceh, ye know sheila?" Of course, it’d been a bit of a while since they’d actually just been a near a body of water for personal enjoyment. The body slam into the water wasn’t exactly a good time for him or one they’d taken advantage of after all, given they’d been working.
Lafayette just shook his head. Whatever the reason Noah was obsessing over the scenery for, it didn’t really bother him much. "He’s a biggie on wat’ah is all. Been a while since he had a proper swim." He remarked thoughtfully, popping another bite into his mouth before finally stepping away. While he had been joking a bit about the whole ‘taking a swim’ in the tanks, he did notice that Mel seemed to be considering something. He watched her curiously a moment before following along when she grabbed a hold of his sleeve and pulled him along. He was rather surprised at the sudden movement, glancing and jerking a gesture at his pokemon to follow just in case. Noah looked startled, immediately scampering after with the plate still in his paws, Cheri looking up and following at a slower pace.
Lafayette was half tempted to open his mouth and question Mel as she passed the security guard’s but didn’t, just giving the guards a bit of look before quickly shuffling after with Noah and Cheri right behind. Once he was free from her grasp he did pause, giving her a bit of a confused stare as she mentioned something as she started up the stairs. Tanks? Wait….
Where others would probably panic over the idea of invading the aquarium and getting in trouble for it, Lafayette merely grinned. Well now this was definitely a bonus! "Oh yeh? What they got, ya know?" Noah would enjoy it if anything and he was all for an up close and personal look at the wildlife. Without much hesitation he was following her up the stairs, a skip in his step as he did. He was rather looking forward to the adventure it seemed.

Mel nodded, looking a bit amused. True, aquariums didn't really seem Lafayette's sort of thing... "Hmm... Were there even any nearby? I don't remember hearing about any near there," she remarked, then looked curious, "Or did you and your family travel some?" She hadn't really considered that; it was possible that, despite what Lafayette had mentioned so far, about the battle subway and such, that they still went on family vacations or something. Given what little she knew about Lafayette, she could only imagine what those kinds of vacations would be like....
She nodded some in understanding as Lala explained Noah's enthusiasm, looking thoughtfully down at the otter pokemon. "That makes sense, given his typin' an' all..." she mused. Which lead to the matter of swimming... and lead to the (perhaps poor) choice she made next. Sneaking them into the back, she headed for the stairs, glancing back at the question. She quirked a curious, but guilty, smirk in response. "No bloody idear," she replied back, her smile growing a bit more, "But I suppose we'll see in a mo', won't we?" She flashed another smirk, then headed up, pushing open the door and looking around cautiously, before making her way out. The door exited to an open area, comprised largely of a body of water, likely the top of one of the many tanks below, with an area of concrete surrounding it where people could walk and feed the pokemon. "Well, dunno how much swimming we can do, but I imagine we can probably dip our toes in and let the pokemon enjoy it, if you want," she remarked, flashing a smile and walking out to check the area out more.

Lafayette didn’t even really consider the question that long before responding. "Not tha’ I know. Ani’ ain’ realleh a place ya put a buildin’ with watah tanks." He remarked absently, gaze focusing as they started moving further in towards the more off-limit areas of the aquarium, keeping an eye out just in case. At the mention of travelling, he smirked and gave an honest laugh. "Nah, not realleh sheila. My mum and da’ ain’much fa’ travellin’." Lafayette replied. As for him travelling? He sort of failed to answer that; mostly because he thought it might be semi-obvious but also because he wasn’t quite sure the best way to put the reasons he himself was travelling about and what not. Doing criminal labor wasn’t exactly a noble job or anything, at least for most people. And Jules preferred he didn’t go yammering about his work least there be some unintended consequences.
He chuckled at her response, eyebrow quirking curiously at her word choice. He couldn’t quite tell if she was playing along in the whole ‘speaking oddly situation’ but he didn’t mind. Mel was so far, good people, even with how random this whole situation ultimately was. He kept the pace with her as she lead them through a door into an open area with open water, eyes growing slightly wide as he stared down at the massive body of water underneath them occupying the tanks. He’d never really thought about what it took to maintain something like this; massive tanks of water and all, and that they were much different from just lakes or even an ocean. There was something… odd about it to him. Not bad, just odd.
"Heh… s’pose tha’s fair. No one want’s ta see someone swimmin’ in their under-chunders, hm?" He chuckled, still looking out over the water. It would probably be a nice experience though, least for the pokemon, a fact that Noah didn’t seem hesitant to prove. Before he could even turn his head to see what the Dewott was squealing about, Lafayette heard a splash. He snapped his gaze around and frowned, squinting a bit at the sight of Noah already down in the tank taking the chance to explore the aquarium features for himself.
Lafayette just stared a moment, an ambiguous frown on his face before he seemed to relax. His grin returned, glancing over at Mel curiously. "Guess Noah agreed with ya sheila." He mused, head tilting a bit. "Yeh got watah pokie of ya own goin’ ta join?" He’d only seem her Monferno so far after all and he honestly didn’t expect Lucy to be jumping in to take a swim any time soon.

Mel tilted her head in admittance as he answered her question, then looked at Lafayette curiously with a smile when he mentioned his parents weren't much for traveling. "Not even for a pokemon journey or anything?" she asked in wonder. Did that mean Lafayette was the first of his family to do it? Or just the first between him and his parents? It was such a common thing to do, when young, or at least try.... but, indeed, not everyone did it. Which made her wonder, if that was the case, what set Lafayette out on it.
She looked around as they ventured out, gazing up at the ceiling, which was equal parts glass as the floor was water, mesmirized by the light dancing through it. She turned to look at Lafayette, though, smirking at his remark, a bit of a quizzical turn to her lips. Under.... chunders. That was a new one. "Better'n starkers, but yeah, I... don' think the party goers would appreciate it," she admitted, absently brushing her finger tips past her ear, "Certainly not my mum..." Though, the thought seemed to amuse her. She blinked and looked back at the squeal of excitement, but, like Lafayette, missed any chance to glimpse the dewott before he had already plunged into the water. Startled, she quickly turned back around, but smiled (albeit a bit nervously) when she saw him already diving down. "Mm, s'pose so..." she mused uncertainly.
Still, though... She started forward, nodding and reaching back for Blue and Bubbles' pokeballs. "Few, yeah. Hopefully no one notices them swimming around or anything," she remarked, tossing the balls up, one in each hand, as she reached the edge. Blue appeared in the air, waving his fins, graceful as ever, before diving in, and Bubbles appeared promptly in the water, wiggling excitedly and giving a chirpy greeting, before vanishing under the surface as well. Sighing, she smiled, then moved to sit down, reaching to take off her shoes as well. "Don' suppose you're quite as aquatic as your partner, are you?" she asked, glancing back up at Lafayette, while Lucy curiously looked around, venturing a bit further, but keeping her distance from the water as she munched on the remainder of the food she'd brought.

"Mm… nah. I don’ think so." He remarked, looking thoughtful a moment. He didn’t really know if his parents had been on pokemon journeys of their own or not. His father didn’t talk about it if he had –he didn’t talk about a lot of things honestly, he wasn’t a big talker- and as far as he knew, his mother hadn’t entertained a journey of her own. She’d apparently participated in a few of those Kalos Queen contests when she was a lot younger but that was hardly a journey and hardly something she’d discussed in length with him. Probably because he never really seemed that interested in the first place.
He turned his focus back from those thoughts to Mel as she remarked on his comment, looking quizzical a moment before a rather large grin crossed his face in response. "Yeh evah go swimmin’ in tha’ stark sheila?" He laughed and glanced own at the waters below. "Ya sure? Maybe them wowsehs would enjoy a good showin’ or somethin’." He mused, shaking his head. He didn’t mean it of course, his tone suggested as much but he couldn’t help but muse at the thought of a bunch of suits just freaking out like that. These seemed like the kind of partygoers to freak out like that. It was funny.
"Ah ye… probableh not. Mum’s ain’ big on tha’ kind of thing." He remarked in regards to the mother situation. He had enough sense to know that doing anything terribly outrageous probably wouldn’t go over well. He’d agreed to semi-help her after all; frightening her mother’s guest needlessly wasn’t really helping. Sort of.
He quirked an eyebrow as he noticed Mel seeming uncertain, quietly watching as she unleashed some pokemon to join in the tank. His head tilted at the sight of Blue in particular, eyeing the oddly colored Goldeen as it dove down. He knelt down to get closer to the water, still eyeing after the fish and giving the little Horsea a glance as it too joined, smiling a litt.e "Noice sheila. Got yehself a pretteh lil’ fishie." Lafayette dropped back to sit on his bottom with an unceremonious flop, starting to tug off his own shoes as well. "I’m thinkin’ yehs will be fine. Noah well… maybe they won’ look so hard." He replied, glancing over at Mel as he set his shoes unceremoniously to the side, moving to also pull off the tuxedo coat as well.
"Hm?" Lafayette tilted his head in though, smiling a little at the question. "Lil’ bit sheila. I like ta take a dip now and then. Usually yakkin’ too much though. Yehself?" He inquired, glancing over as Cheri took a seat next to him as well, half a pastry still between her paws. He gave her a bit of a look for that; he'd expected her to be finished by now, it wasn't that big a pastry. Oh well. He just shook his head glancing back at Mel.

Hmm... Mel looked at Lafayette curiously, but, surprisingly, seemed not to dig into what motivated to strike out on his own if his parents hadn't. At least, not right then. She almost definitely would, perhaps even in minutes -- she was a curious person after all -- but not right then. Instead she focused on the 'pool', or rather, the opportunity it presented them, making her remarks on the slight, half-serious concerns she had. She pressed her lips together and flashed Lafayette a smile that was a mix of one of disbelief, amusement, and a smirk at his question. She supposed she asked for that, though, given her remark. She gave a more playful look after the initial bemused surprise wore off. "Perhaps, but I'm not one to tell stories so easily," she replied in a jokingly playful manner.
She guffawed at the idea of the party goers getting a 'show' and rolled her eyes, trying not to blush, or laugh too loudly, at the suggestion. "Y'know, somehow, I don't quite think that's quite the exotic sights they came to see," she replied, looking back to him with a restrained little smile, trying not to grin. She shook her head and set her shoes aside, dipping her toes into the water and absently kicking her feet back and forth. "No... Specially not at parties..." she mused thoughtfully. A thought seemed to occur to her, though, and she looked at him with a quizzical, amused smile. "You speakin' from experience, there, Lafayette?"
She leaned back on her hands, smiling as Lafayette seemed to curiously look after Blue, raising an eyebrow as she observed him in return. She didn't think he'd take notice of that sort of thing... then again, Blue did like to make himself noticed. "Hmm... yeah, Blue's been in the family for a while. Got him when he was just a little, tiny thing, from a fair. Dad won him in a game. He's still pretty small for a goldeen, though, come to think of it..." And at that, she realized something she hadn't considered before-- her mom might recognize Blue. For a moment, she was still, but she shook the concern off. That wasn't exactly likely... and like Lafayette had mentioned, if anything was going to cause suspicion, it would most likely be the dewott swimming excitedly around the tank.
She absently moved her feet through the water, looking down to try and see the pokemon, but unable to quite make them out. Blue seemed to just be politely staying near the surface, out of the other, native pokemon's way, but she had no idea where Bubbles was. She looked over when Lafayette returned the question, though, smiling. "Sort of. I used to do swimming when I was in school, and living near the ocean, my friends and I would take boats out to swim off shore when we got the chance. Or we'd just ride one of our pokemon, once we started getting them," she explained. That all felt so long ago, though... it had probably been a while since she actually went for a serious swim.
