Several months passed after Morgan's return to earth. Life had gone on as if she'd never left, as not much time had passed in this world in between her disappearance and return. Sometimes, were it not for her now short shaggy hair and the outfit she came back in, she would think that it had never happened. Still, Rylen and her adventures with him constantly lingered on her mind. Sometimes she would see something small and think, 'Rylen would have loved that.' or 'I wonder what he would think if he saw this.' Small thoughts, even if only in passing, that made her feel quite lonely. That day had been of no mercy either, as she kept hearing rumors of unusual sightings - of odd plants or even creatures she was certain didn't belong on earth. They couldn't have been true, though. They couldn't have been anything more than a dillusional and lonely mind grasping at what she lost...could they?

A monstrous roar echoed in the distance followed by what sounded like explosions. Dodging between the city skyscrapers were a pair of dragons throwing claws and fire at each other, one large and red, while the other smaller and emerald green. As they battled through city skies, they were being chased by a military helicopter trying to gun them down. The green dragon let out a pained roar as it was pushed into the gun fire and then thrown by its tail to the spacious park below.

That damned park was, once again, the target of something strange. Morgan couldn't help but stare up at the skies in pure shock. Shock, and later unadulterated fear, once the situation fully registered in her head. She found herself rushing towards the center of the park, stopping only when she felt she was close enough to get a better look at the dragon yet far enough to be a safe distance when the mighty reptile landed.

The green dragon looked up at its opponent, roaring in frustration and launching a fireball at the red dragon, missing and hitting the helicopter behind it when the red dragon dodged. The red dragon dove down, planning on landing on the green, but the green reptile rolled out of the way before pouncing back, locking its fangs around the red dragon's neck. It flailed about and put up a fight, but eventually it went limp in the green beast's jaws with a muffled crack. The green dragon, now left triumphant, released his jaws before starting to look around and taken his surroundings. With all the attention he was starting to receive, he hunched down, whipping his head and tail around aggressively, as though ready for another attack as he growled threateningly.

Morgan tentatively approached the mighty beast, awe and only the barest scratch of fear marring her features. She was a humble thing, dressed in casual jeans and a baggy tee, making her feel rather dull in comparison to the beautiful creature. If this truly was who she thought him to be, would he even recognize her? She must have looked so different. Even her hair, which was now cut into a pixie cut and worn in its natural undyed brown, was a far cry from what it had been when they parted.

The dragon could smell someone drawing near and whipped around, roaring threateningly in her face with the volume of a plane taking off. But then there was a flicker of recognition in its sharp eyes and it paused, its roar lowering to an uncertain growl before it started sniffing Morgan. The dragon suddenly yanked its head away, bolt upright as all the rage suddenly melted away. "Morgan?" Familiar green flames engulfed the mighty creature and they had barely disappated when Rylen suddenly pulled her into a tight hug, tears already starting to form at the corners of his eyes. While Morgan had gotten a haircut, Rylen had apparently been letting his hair grow out. With the exception of some strands short enough to frame his face nicely, the rest of his deep green locks were tied back in a thin braid that traveled down the length of his back, and then some.

Morgan eagerly returned the hug as tightly as she could, an overwhelming sense of joy flowing through her being. "Rylen!" God damn it, now she couldn't stop the waterworks either. Tried as she might, she simply couldn't blink away her tears. "I missed you so, so much!" Damn, even her voice was cracking a bit. She could hardly believe it. Rylen was here, in her world. Awake. She almost had the urge to pinch herself to see if this was some kind of cruel dream, but the feel of his arms wrapped around her invalidated and destroyed any such thoughts.

Once he managed to pry himself off of her, he put his hands to her cheeks, feeling her soft skin as he probably could believe it less than she could. "This must be some kind of cruel dream; you should be dead! I was sure I'd never see you again!" his speech soon broke down into fragments of sentences and questions of disbelief, but his face was nothing but utter joy as he held her delicate features in his hands.

"Dead? How long has it been on your end to think that? It's only been a few months since I've returned!" Morgan replied, honestly not as shocked as she could be all things considered. Instead, she looked content - and perhaps somewhat amused - as she placed her hands over his.

Rylen's eyes grew wide in surprise. "A few months?" Somehow a chuckle started to form, which then turned into a full blown laugh at how seemingly silly the whole thing seemed to him as he began to dry his eyes. "It's been two hundred and seventy three years! And that's just since I woke up!" And he still didn't look a day over twenty five.

Morgan's eyes bulged at the news, her jaw dropping low at the news. "Holy s**t!" She was, for lack of a better term, struck dumb by the news. "Pardon my language, but damn. There's definitely some weird time mumbo jumbo going on." Then, the realization that he remembered her - and missed her - for so long had the tears flowing once again. She wrapped her arms tightly around the man once more. "Thank you. For remembering me that long, I mean..."

"Well, it's not every day I take care of a human girl who fell out of the sky." Rylen smiled as he ran his fingers through her short hair. "But what did you do to your hair? I barely recognized you; if I didn't know your scent I would've taken your head off!"

Remembering the ponytail, Morgan couldn't help but avert her eyes and blush. "After I left my, uhm, parting gift my hair was an absolute mess. So I just said 'screw it' and decided to try it short for a while." she admitted, giving a faint bout of nervous laughter afterwards. "It doesn't look too bad on me, does it?"

Rylen blinked a few times in slight confusion before an awkward smile creased his lips. "...Ah. I suppose that would explain the, er, small pile of dust I woke up to." Some things just didn't hold up after five hundred years. "In all honesty, I thought it was the ribbon itself you left behind." he pulled his hair around, the end of his braid tied off with the amber ribbon he'd first bought her in the first town they came across when she first arrived in his world.

"Huh. I thought hair would last longer than that." Morgan was even more embarassed now, letting out a timid bit of even more laughter. "Still, I'm happy you kept it. What was left of my parting gift, anyway." She then leaned in to lightly kiss him on the cheek.
