At some point, while both of them were sleeping, Morty slipped into the main room and cleared out the uneaten meal. He was quite determined to be the best henchman he could possibly be for Rose. Morty looked remarkably fresh for a ghoul, probably because he had been be-spelled immediately after his death His mind had been heavily altered thanks to Kula, the mercenary he had been before was completely gone. He now lived to serve, and to eat the delicious leftover meats from the kitchen of course. When Cain woke up and started moving the clothes, Morty assisted him, recognizing Cain as the vampire his mistress had acted rather friendly towards earlier in the library. Once all of the clothes were into the main room, Morty piled as many of the items as he could in his arms and tottered off to go store them somewhere else with the servants. ~ When Rose finally surfaced somewhat from her sleep, she groggily showered. When she exited the shower, she rubbed her eyes, her vision was still blurred, but she put it off as it just being a bit of a slow morning. Rose pulled on what she guessed was a blouse, a brown cardigan and a pair of comfy twill trousers. They felt right. She padded over to where a figure that she assumed to be Cain was sitting, and looked over his shoulder. It appeared that he was drawing something, or maybe writing? Or annotating? It was hard to tell, she could make out something in his hand, but the page was indecipherable. She kissed the top of his head. "Good morning. What do you have there? I can't quite make it out right now..." Her blue eyes blinked, still trying to focus. She hoped coffee would get here soon, Rose needed to wake up fully... But she felt like she was awake... Rose rubbed at her eyes for the umpteenth time since she got up, really, this was ridiculous. Why were her eyes not focusing? Did I sleep with something pressed into my face? she considered this for a moment, but came up empty handed. What a mystery... Perhaps Glaucoma is to blame? A sliver of fear worked it's way into her chest, losing her eyesight would be crippling as someone who relied so much on the written word. No, I just need coffee.

Cain gave her a smile as she spoke to him and slid the sketchpad out of sight as he stood and moved to take her in his arms for a kiss before leading he to the table, "It's just something I'm working on. It's not finished yet, though," he told her simply and set coffee in front of her first then her breakfast. He frowned at her though and raised her chin so he could look into her eyes, "Why are your eyes turning blue, Rose? I rather liked them the way they were..." he asked her, hoping nothing was wrong with her. "We have two good healers here, possibly three... Should I go ask Desha to come check you over?" he couldn't help it as he started to sound worried and looked at the door, debating on whether or not he should go find the man anyway.

Even though Cain's handsome face was little more than a skin-toned smear right now, Rose happily kissed him back. Although the issue of her suddenly blurred eyesight was certainly taking up quite a bit of her brain power right now... The symptoms were to sudden to be Glaucoma, or cataracts, her eyes didn't feel itchy or swollen (which ruled out many other things from allergic reactions to an infected eyelash follicle). Her mind turned back to yesterday, and to the short duel of words with her friends... There was that half formed spell... Before her mind could start dissecting this new idea though, Cain asked her why her eyes were turning blue. And if he should go as Desha to check her. Blue? Rose blinked at him, processing this new information. "Really?" She thought about the spells fired yesterday a bit more... And her mess-up last year with the circle. "I guess that odd spell from yesterday is undoing the effects from my mis-fire." She thoughtfully lifted the coffee and took a sip. No change. Yep, spell. "Hm... I don't know if bothering Desha is necessary" Rose tapped a finger to her chin "I think giving it a day to clear up on its own should do it, it was a pretty weak spell." There was a touch of doubt in her voice, magic without a direction could do strange things indeed.

Cain frowned a bit more but accepted her explanation and sat down across from her with his own cup of coffee, "Alright... But if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow then would you let Desha check on you?" he asked her, hoping he was being reasonable about it. He gave a soft sigh as she started to eat her breakfast, "I still say your eyes were fine the way they were. But if they'll be blue then they'll be blue and I'll love them anyway," he said softly, thinking that he'd have to redo a few things for his surprise for her now. His mind went through everything he was planning and judged that a slight shift was fine, "On another note, your pet helped shift that pile of atrocious clothing out of here. I have no idea where he put it all, though. But I sent him down to help with your lab in the courtyard. The workers there could always use an extra set of hands, as I understand it," he switched topics easily despite the fact that he was still a bit disappointed about her eyes. He'd found them quite beautiful, after all...

Rose nodded "That sounds like a good plan." She groped around a bit to locate her fork, and did her best to spear some of her breakfast. With a shrug she said "There's really no telling what will happen, it could fade off and my eyes could return to being pink, they could shift to green, maybe even give me night vision. I've gotten used to physical changes, comes with messing about with experimental magic ." Rose chewed thoughtfully "I was actually a guy once, for about seven years. I think I still have a picture of me in my uniform somewhere..." They didn't let women get medical licenses then without being subjected to ridicule, and with ridicule came a paper trail. It was to dangerous for her to leave such a mark on history, so... Rose passed herself off as "Roswell". Then the Great War happened and she got to be a medic... Until her license was revoked anyway. She added, "But that time was on purpose." It was hard to change something like gender without some major, carefully structured magic. Took her a decade just to figure out the right circle to draw. She tilted her head "Morty did something helpful and non-violent without a direct order...? Interesting." When Morty had been under Kula, it had been pretty obvious that he had about zero higher processes running unless it involved food or ripping something apart. Rose had been going on a gut feeling for converting him, but now she was wondering what in sam hill she actually did. A smile found itself onto her face "It's good to hear the lab's coming along though, I've already got something to try out that probably shouldn't be done up here." It was a bit of a safety hazard, dabbling with necromancy in your residence. Also, bodily fluids stain.

Cain had to smile as she rattled on about spells then nodded when she talked about Morty and the lab, "The lab should be finished in a day or so. When your eyes whatever they're doing, they want you to go take a look at their progress in case there are any changes you want to make," he told her, finding himself immensely relieved that she'd agreed to Desha looking at her. When she finished her meal, he cleared her plate and poured her another cup of coffee before sitting down with his sketchpad in front of him, "You know... We really should set a date for the wedding... I was thinking that we could hold it in the garden. There's plenty of room out there," he suggested, knowing that they had to get the plans done or the wedding would take a very long time to happen. Maybe he was jumping the gun a bit, but he wanted to have her as his wife before someone else swooped in and took her from him. She'd woken him up after centuries of moving around lost in the world of his own mind and he didn't want to lose that... He didn't want to lose her...

A fresh rush of excitement rippled through Rose, just a day or two? Assuming it took a day or so to move her equipment in, that meant she could start up her more powered experiments. Rose had stuck to small ones since arriving, and was itching to try out her ideas. A bit of her magic began to warm itself up. Across the island, the few criminals who had yet to be captured felt a chill dance down their spine. Something ominous seemed to hang on the edge of their mind, an unseen punishment waiting for the gavel to strike. Nervously, most of them shook it off and continued on in their illegal ways, a single one looked up at the sky with genuine fear in his eyes. Rose merely grinned, "That's great, I can't wait." She could make out him setting something in front of him, it looked like a book. It was indeed important they got planning out of the way. "Hm... What do you think about the wedding being in two months?" That sounded about right to her... Particularly because it was a small one. No massive list of people to sort through, no overbearing relatives, no mad hunt for a location... Rose thought of the garden. It indeed had enough room for a small wedding, and the garden was a lovely place... But, there wasn't one small issue? She tilted her head to the side and asked "What if it rains?" It would kind of put a damper on things if they planned for an outdoor wedding but ended up being rained out. Manipulating the weather was out of the question for her, Perhaps a back-up plan of a very large tent of some kind would be in order. That could work. Rose's mind began drifting off trying to run through every possible worse-case-scenario that could occur at their wedding. It had almost a dizzying effect, with a mind as creative as Rose's the possibilities seemed endless. Although a dragon interrupting the festivities seemed unlikely, there was still a chance right? There was also no telling what trouble her friends could make if they went a bit to deep into the cup... Opening a rift in space and time in an attempt to get more of the same vintage would not be a first for the trio of Brits. This wasn't even addressing the possibilities with some of her other friends... Suddenly the thought of a wedding became a very daunting task. After a bit more thought Rose said,"We should probably tell Rebecca as soon as we can, I think she's going to be busy soon with planning a party of some sort. " Without thinking a small piece of paper zipped in from her lab accompanied by a pencil. The duo settled themselves down on the table. Rose scribbled down what looked like to her a polite note asking if it would be possible for Rebecca to cater to their wedding. In actuality it looked like a bunch of random marks with the rare legible letter. She passed the note to Cain "Do you think is to formal? Or not formal enough? Maybe I should go to the kitchen myself and ask her..."

Cain did his best not to laugh at the note but it still escaped him nonetheless, "I think I'll write the notes until your eyes settle down, love. As for all of your worries about having the wedding in the garden, don't. Sebastet won't allow anything to damage the garden at all anymore and it only rains there during the day about every third day or so thanks to a few spells of hers over it. Not only that, she'll likely come to the wedding armed so I highly doubt even your friends will want to tangle with her. As for Rebecca, I already spoke to her about the plans for the party and she and Ora have that under control, keeping it as simple as they can while concentrating on the fun of it. As for her cooking for the wedding, we simply have to tell her how many guests are arriving on your side. She said something about planning for everyone else here easily. I told her to keep it fairly simple, nothing too exotic on the foods. I also spoke to Sebastet about a small spell that would allow me to eat for the wedding so that I could enjoy our cake, which Rebecca is planning on surprising us with as I understand, and she said it was manageable. So all we really have to do is decide on the date and the number of guests arriving from off-island. Sebastet and Rebecca said they can handle the rest of it," he told her, hoping to take a great deal of the worry off of her mind. He moved his pencil over the drawing in front of him a few more times and frowned at it, glancing at her once or twice since she couldn't see very well and was giving him the perfect opportunity to draw as he wished. He only hoped she would like the designs he was putting together and turned back to his sketchpad with another frown, "As soon as your eyes are restored, I would like to get your opinion on a few things. They're supposed to be a surprise, though, so I suppose it can wait at least that long. Remind me of your favorite colors?" he added, clearly changing the subject but really needing to know before he finished the sketches.

Rose visibly relaxed as Cain explained how the wedding was going to be handled, this was a great deal of stress off of her shoulders. "Alright then... " Her words were almost half a sigh of relief, and were followed by a full one. She could hear a faint scratching noise, and she could make out movement across the table. Cain must have been writing something down, but the strokes sounded a bit to long to be writing. Hm. Well there was certainly nothing wrong with doodling. It seemed like an odd time to be doing it though. Perhaps he was crossing off a list of some sort? That seemed likely. Rose thought a bit at his question, it wasn't one she normally thought about. "My favorite colors...A soft peach sorta color, and pale cream." She tilted her head to the side slightly "What are yours? " Her eyes searched the spot where she knew his face was, her irises' color was shifting spottily between pink and blue... Rose's forehead wrinkled as she suddenly became aware of the foreign magic behind her eyes. It didn't hurt, it just felt wrong. Like an unwanted pat on the back, or a cold handshake. Before she could dwell on it though, a short knock was tapped on the door. Morty poked his head in, then quietly put a package about 15 inches long and half as wide and tall in the center of the table. He looked at Rose, waiting for his next order. She smiled at him "Good job! Why don't you go take a break in the garden? I know you like the flowers there." He nodded eagerly, bowed deeply at the waist, then left. "That's for you Cain, it took a bit for me to have them made... I certainly hope you like them." She grinned at him. This particular gift had been in the works since she moved in with him, it was a pair of loafers, in his size of course, with a specific modification. Cain seemed to stub his toes with unusual frequency, even with his feet shod, so Rose had contacted a cobbler and had commissioned a pair of steel-toes loafers. He had given her so much, Rose really wanted to do something for him. This was the result. ((sorry for the wait, part time job ate up my time))

Cain gave a distracted nod, "Soft peach and pale cream... Alright, that will work out nicely," he mumbled to himself and made a few notes on the drawing he was doing, pausing to look at it for a moment then added a few more strokes with his pencil before shifting to a new page to start again. He only stopped when Morty set the box on the table and Rose said it was for him, looking up at her with a small frown briefly. But when he opened it and noted that the dark brown loafers had a nice soft lining that would allow them to replace his usual slippers or wear them to a more formal setting, he smiled at her and moved to her side of the table to give her a kiss on her cheek, "You are wonderful, Rose. They're perfect," he said to her then lifted them from the box and frowned a bit, "But they're a bit heavier than I expected," he added before he slipped them on and noted how comfortable they were. "I only hope I don't wind up misplacing them," he knew that was a possibility since he'd done it before, "Why are they so heavy though?" he had to ask, knowing that she would have a reason for it.

Rose was overjoyed that Cain seemed to like her gift. She was practically beaming from his reaction. "Steel toes! That's why it took me so long to have them made." Rose took a moment to hug Cain, "I'm glad you like them" she happily into his chest. He meant so much to her, in all honesty she probably would have stuck around and generally made a pest of herself to Cain regardless of whether or not he proposed to her, or asked her to move in with him. Although she was pretty ecstatic that both events occurred. She reached up to kiss him firmly on the mouth "And don't worry about losing them, I'll find them for you if that happens. I always will." She smiled at him then kissed him again, this time clearly intending to draw it out a bit longer. Just because she couldn't see very well right now didn't mean she couldn't feel things.

Cain gave a soft growl at the second kiss and wrapped his arms around her so he could deepen it for a bit longer before finally letting them both up for air, "Why, Rosabel... Are you trying to seduce me?" he teased her a bit, unable to help the slight deepening of his voice after that kiss. Of course, he was perfectly amenable to being seduced by her any time she wanted to do so. But she was distracting him from his surprise for her and he really did want to finish the drawings before he took them down to the seamstress... Well, it could wait a bit longer... He finally decided and moved his hands lightly over her back as he pulled her in a bit closer to him, "I don't know what I'd do without you Rose," he finally had to whisper softly as he looked her face over, one hand rising from her back to gently caress her soft cheek with the back of his fingers.

Jestingly Rose replied "My guess? Read, shelve books, lose a slipper or two." She grinned up at him, then managed to wipe her face clean of emotion and deadpanned "And how did you guess? I'm afraid now that you've found me out I will have to abandon my attempt for another time. Such a shame." She sighed theatrically at the end. By the end of the statement Rose had gently extracted herself from his arms and taken a few steps back. With a small smile Rose continued,"Too bad a retreat is out of the question..."She was about to take him by the hand, and then lead him the the bedroom, or whatever flat surface could serve their purpose really, when she instead slapped her hand onto her left eye. That foreign spell was shifting, and it felt really really uncomfortable. Rose winced as pressure began to build up behind her eyes, enough was enough. Really, she had let this go on for too long. She bit the tip of her thumb, just enough to draw a few small drops of blood. The droplets snaked down into her palm where they formed a perfect circle. Rose pressed her hands together and focused, mumbling in a mix of old Greek and Latin. Slowly, her own magic devoured the bothersome spell. a few droplets of sweat formed on her brow from the focus it required, a wrong move and she'd shoot magic directly into her brain. That was not somewhere you wanted magic in the slightest. The spell seemingly cannibalized, she sighed and tried focusing her eyes again. Her irises were still a bit patchy, although the blue was beginning to fade away now. To her delight, her vision was slightly less blurred, it would probably be awhile until it was fully cleared. "Sorry about that, the spell was really bothering me." She looked at him hopefully "Care to pick up where we left off?"

Cain showed her a raised eyebrow as he pulled her back into his arms and a wry smile, "You worry me at times, Rose. As for where we left off, I think you were about to admit that you were trying to seduce me. Most likely about to pull me into the bedroom, I would guess. And I was about to tell you that you didn't have to work that hard with me. If you want me, Rosabel, all you have to do is say so," he told her and gave her impish nose a tap before giving her lips a teasing kiss. "Now then, what are you wanting to do?" he asked her simply as he put both hands around her waist to pull her in against him to show her just how little she had to work to seduce him. All she had to do was look at him and he was lost...
