Ashley looked around the town as they arrived. It was small and quaint, with only the large Tower of Mastery standing as an obvious representation of the place. There was a splattering of houses of course and then right nearby being slightly bigger, was the gym. Ashley made his way towards the pokemon center first to get everyone healed up. He’d go ahead and challenge the gym now as oppose to waiting. Oh sure, he probably needed to get in a bit more training but… he was getting rather anxious and waiting around for training wasn’t on his to do list.
Returning both Bastien and Alphonse, he passed them along to the Nurse Joy at the counter for healing, stepping away and taking a seat nearby as he waited. He did a bit of research while he did; there wasn’t much more for him to note on the gym leader, and soon he was retrieving his pokemon and heading out once more. Well, he’d see how it went.

Or … not. Much to his dissatisfaction, the gym leader seemed to be unavailable for Ashley to challenge at that moment. She’d be back later after dealing with some other ‘duties’ that she had but that meant he would still need to wait. Adjusting his glasses, they trio existed back outside into the city.
Well then, he supposed he would take this time to train him team just a tad bit more before coming back to attempt to challenge the leader. Not something he was looking forward to doing but unavoidable all the same. He could follow up on some more of his work as well but he wasn’t entirely feeling that as well. Honestly, for the moment he was rather bored with everything. Still mulling over what he could do, they wandered into some of the more grassier areas and Ashley absently unleashed a few of his other pokemon. They would find things to battle of their own accord; he didn’t need to babysit them on that.
Taking a moment, Ashley fished out a heartscale and tossed it to Alphonse. It’d been something he’d been meaning to do earlier but it’d slipped his mind. The mega Audino quirked his head some, eyeing the scale before crushing it. He knew what he was doing and with an approving nod from Ashley, set off to watch the other battle and participate as well.

Ashley took a seat once more as his pokemon wandered to do some battle. Despite it’s rather sparse town, Shalour had quite the wildlife and so the group was not without wanting when it came to battles. Alphonse watched with interest as Bastien finished his own fights, stifling a yawn, and glancing over curiously as Odilon all but obliterated several other birds with fierce winds of ice. A little over the top but it certainly got the process done. He turned his own focus to a local herd of cattle looking pokemon grazing nearby. It took a bit of coaxing but soon some of the Miltank were accepting his challenge for battle.

Alphonse stifled a yawn as the wild pokemon were swiftly dispatched without much of a struggle, wandering over to Ashley and retrieving a potion or two to tend to their wounds. The man frowned just a bit at the pokemon’s actions before shifting his attention to other more entertaining focuses. He wasn’t going to scold the pokemon for taking care of himself; in fact, he much preferred it. Alphonse applied a few squirts to himself before making his way back over to where Odilon and Bastien resided. The Audino tilted his head a bit as the Chatot went down in nothing but the form of an ice cube, glancing over as Odilon assaulted another one that was residing in the trees, having watched in horror as its companion had been frozen like a brick. It was amusing to some degree to watch the black Swanna harass the local wildlife in such ways, though he could’ve done without the brief shots of chilling cold that his team mates attacks caused. While Odilon finished the Chatot, the Audino turned his focus back onto their surroundings. There were still a few of those Miltank pokemon grazing nearby where he’d challenged the first two and after some consideration, he opted to challenge another one. Really, it was mostly him and Odilon getting training done, with poor Bastien standing there staring in stunned awe at the displays of power. He really needed to pick up the pace or he would be falling behind very quickly.

Alphonse snatched up one of the potions that Ashley had provided for them, offering one to Bastien as he walked up to him. 'Here you go, take this. ' He remarked, catching the Braxien off guard. Bastien took it a moment, looking it over before administering it to himself, wincing a bit in response. It stung a bit and he shook his head, offering it back to the Audino.
Alphonse took the bottle and gave it a little shake; making note that it wasn’t empty just yet. He kept it in hand and gestured to a passing Pachirisu. 'Go ahead and take that on while you can.' The fox tilted his head some, looking at the little electric squirrel and then back to the Audino in confusion. Alphonse just nodded and gestured again for him to take it on.

Alphonse applied the last of the potion contents to Bastien as the fox sulked over, shaking his head some in response. 'You really could stand to improve your moves.' The Audino remarked as the other pokemon flinched, rubbing gingerly at the spots where the Pachirisu had tackled him numerous time. He didn’t get a chance to open his mouth and speak, there was some rustling nearby that caught his attention. Bastien’s ears twitched and he glared as two sets of eggs suddenly appeared from the grass. Alphonse titled his head, looking ready to step out and address the situation so that Bastien could recover but was stopped by the fox as he blocked him with his stick. No, he’d handle this.

Bastien smirked as both sets of Exeggcute fled the area, nearly burnt to a crisp by the Braxion. Alphonse hummed and rubbed his chin, head nodding in approval. Now that was the type of combat that he was expecting to see. He offered another potion to the Braxien who denied it. He hadn’t taken any damage this time, though he did shirk away a bit as a Tauros wandered into view. Bastien seemed to consider whether he would take on the pokemon or not, looking back as he felt a paw on his shoulder. Alphonse stepped around his and gestured that he’d take the bull. It was fine.

As his pokemon trained, Ashley tried hard to preoccupy himself. He could feel a level of unsatisfying anxiousness beginning to build; there was no word from work on his quarry, no finds, no alerts regarding system security issues (which simply meant everyone was either doing their job well or not at all) and well his pokemon didn’t need him hovering over them to train. He supposed he could me more involved in that but watching the mindless repetition of assault on wild creatures will no real sense other than to try and survive was hardly all that riveting.

Still though, it’d be a bit before his team was fully capable to take on the next gym. And that was assuming the gym leader returned soon. It was agitating to have so little to do, at least activity wise. He could probably finish his novel reading but that was meant for those down times when he really didn’t feel like being active. With a huff, Ashley mulled over his options. He turned and dug out his vaporizer, taking the time to clean it out and refill the tank before setting it aside for a bit to let it settle. He took a glance over to where his pokemon were, watching lazily a moment as they continued to do battle with the wild pokemon they came across. Eventually they would overpower the surrounding beasts and be forced to move on to bigger better quarry. Ashley tilted his head in thought, Maybe, it would be worthwhile to find a few trainers to challenge as well. It certainly provided more variety when it came to combat.

And a bit of interaction on his part. Sort’ve; Ashley wasn’t feeling very talkative at the moment and most trainers (from his experience) were young and spry and desperate to yammer off about their rise to championship status and how their pokemon were the strongest and greatest and… just ramblings that really meant very little in the long run. Yes, yes. They’d all be champions; they all happened to possess the strongest pokemon of all time and they all would defeat any and every person that got in their way.
And while that happened, he’d turn out to be the lost prince of an unknown region far away. It was silly; so very silly that very few of them stopped to consider the unlikelihood that they would meet all these requirements before anyone else. They were elite four material before even challenging the elite four. It was unquestionably plausible…

And that was probably why he had no real interest in the whole pokemon trainer journey. Maybe it would’ve been something he’d have entertained when he was younger… if his younger self had been any better off. Of course, thinking about it a little, Ashley had a hard time believing even at the preferred age for pokemon training that he’d have really cared to start one. Oh sure, maybe there was some fun to what… strategizing battles? Building and customizing abilities to withstand any combination that another trainer might send your way? He was certain there wasn’t much strategy use though; just type advantage abuse and over-powering your opponents. Maybe there was some skill involved but… he didn’t think so. Oh well. That wasn’t something he’d particularly cared for so he certainly wasn’t going to heartache over it.
