R'in of Bronze Demodeth

Due to all of their mishaps today, R'in's eyes were particularly peeled for ruts in the path and... shortcuts, apparently. While he was fairly confident that they wouldn't be seen if they chose to sneak ahead, neither he nor Demodeth were the cheating sort. The touch of pride he picked up from the bronze only served to reinforce that fact.

    10. You want to win! You want to win! You don't care what it's going to take you want to be the first one there! You do see a shortcut, and are certain Liat and Orioth are too far back to notice. Do you choose to stay the course or try to cut ahead! If you stay the course, gain [+2 points].

R'in of Bronze Demodeth

Demodeth turned back to encourage his rider, continuing to run forward as he did. It wasn't the wisest of moves. Yet another of his siblings was bumped as he passed, but a bump from a bronze was probably still rather startling. He did pause this time, sending Haitanth an apologetic, Please pardon me brother, I wasn't paying proper attention, before moving on.

6-7. Your dragon is running fast as he or she can! In their excitement, they wind up pushing over one of their fellow clutchmates and trample right over them. Ouch! Quote the weyrling above you and let them know their fate. It's very possible the offending dragonet might want to retaliate! Rawr! [-1 point]

8-9. Keep on, keeping on. As you run, you're doing your best to pace yourself. You're panting and breathing hard, but know you're stronger and more capable than you think! Your dragon sends you some positive encouragement, keeping your mind on the task at hand. [+3 point] If you're of Average fitness, take an extra point for staying the course. [+1 point]

Sivu, for all the muck covering him, and the chill creeping into his lungs from the wind and rain kept pace. Haitanth gently prodding them foreward. We can do anything darling, his blue crooned. We can certainly aren’t going to let a little running get us down, right?

6-7. You're running hard. The sooner this is over, the sooner you can rest... or at least start packing sand. Unfortunately, you step right into a puddle, that was much deeper than it looked, and find yourself up to the knee in wet.
Horrible just... Horrible. [+1 point] If you're the active sort, you're not quite as bothered. A little resistance is good for the muscles, right? Take an extra point. [+1 point]

It was all well and good that Haitanth was encouraging him, or Sivu might have just stopped and just would have yelled at the sky a moment. Wasn’t the mud enough? The sand? The irritating wind with its terrible chill? Instead Sivu grumbles irritably, pacing his way through the enormous puddle. Oh these boots would never be the same again. Everything was so water logged in Western, maybe they’d make better boats.

2-3. Halfway through! At least, you think you're about halfway through. You're really getting winded now, and it is very tempting to slow down or stop. Still, you push on. You're getting close to the feeding pens--and need to encourage your dragon to keep running so they don't stop and scare the herdbeasts. If you feel a little hungry, and the herdbeasts look a little tasty, you know fully that's just your dragon's doing! [+1 point]

For all of his rough start in the race… the puddles, the grime - the audacity of the muck plastered to him, he was starting to do well. He was completely winded, but oh he was so close. And so very closer to hot dinner, that Haitanth was practically salivating over.

Let's give it our all and sprint as fast as we can! [+2 Points] If you're of an Active fitness level, sprinting comes naturally. Gain an extra point. [+1 active]

He could see the end of this misery, not too far now! Sivu started dashing like he had great muscles and wings like his blue. If his body was sore tomorrow, he didn't care. He would done. Dry. Fed. And done falling in every sharding puddle!

Now that the whirling had a rhythm, maybe… running wasn’t so bad. Terrible in the rain, certainly. But he could appreciate the scenery - the companionship of those suffering alongside him in the weather. The dramatic little quips from Haitanth. Maybe there was something to it.

4-5. You can see the end is in sight. You've almost made it! If you can just find some way to push on! Thankfully, your dragon sends all the support, comfort, and encouragement you need. With a surge of adrenaline, you make it down to the beach water, stumbling as you past along. [+3 points] If you're in Poor Shape, gain an extra point form sheer willpower (and dragon's encouragement) [+1]

A breathless whoop, Sivu finally crossed to sand. Never had he been so glad to feel the grainy ocean air hitting his face. Or the dampness of the sand being kicked up everywhere. He stumbled, stopping taking great lungfuls of air in victory. He may not have been the fastest, but he did it sharddit.

9. Your dragon is too distracted by puddles to want to race. Quote the weyrling above you, and start splashing them with mud and water. This does wind up affecting both your own rider and the fellow weyrling. Your rider might be upset (or distracted) and the weyrling you just splashed might be feeling irate, or some other emotion. You're all even more soaked. Boo. [You both lose -2 points]

”Smerdle”
PUDDLE TIME

With a bubble of juvenile delight, Haitanth began splashing in the water. Making the muddle little puddle ripple prettily. Haitanth kicked his feet, and whipped his tail. Ready to spin a delighted circle. He wasn’t quite paying attention enough to see what the mess he was making. Sivu whipped the mud from his face, already making apologies for them both.

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

A run! Ke'res was genuinely looking forwards to it, and Rossoth was excited to see her so excited. It didn't matter that it was raining- she seemed to enjoy thst even more. It was inexplicable really- part of her so hidden that she didn't understand it herself; which suited him just fine.

/Don't hurt yourself, okay? I'm going to keep an eye on the others, but I trust you to take care of yourself. And the others if necessary./ It was an afterthought, but it earned a chuckle.

{Sure, Ross. Don't stress. We can handle this.}

As they began, the familiar rush of endorphins made for perfect company. She watched as Rossoth moved ahead to keep pace with his siblings. It was hard not to smile, even as her breathing grew heavier and her cheeks turned red.

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

She knew she had to pace herself if she didn't want to wind up walking for half of it. At least she had some stamina built up from her regular runs. It was best not to spend it all at once.

[+2 Point] If you're in Average Shape, go ahead and add one more point, because you're definitely on the right train of thought! [+1 Point]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Ke'res' enthusiasm was perhaps a tad _too_ contagious. It spilled over into Rossoth, who galloped ahead. He didn't see Guarath- tunnel-focused as he was- and barrelled into her. Claws and wings went everywhere.

/Oops. I'm so sorry there, dear Guarath. You're not hurt, are you?/ Foolish brown! What had he become?

Sorry Guarath! Rossoth got carried away in the first leg. sad

((Sorry for the necro of the Weyrling lesson, I totally missed this during the chaos of last year. ^^; Hopefully this doesn't inconvenience you too much. sad ))
