Round 3 / Day 2 / Roll 3: General Grid
Blue Aramath: 11/12 HP
Held saves: 2

They flew into an area of the sky where fall was much heavier, necessitating frequent hops between both to flame and to get out of the way. It was going well, their jumps becoming more and more accurate—until they transferred back into formation only to hear a siblings’ shout: Thread is all around you, Aramath! Away, quickly!

They winked between without hesitation or question, reappearing just in time to turn and see the horrifying clump that would have swarmed them both. A shudder ran through boy and dragon, and they tried to put the thought out of their minds. Thank you, sister! Aramath called back to Nzambith, his relief made plain in the tone of his thoughts.

1. You appear from Between..... directly into a clump of Thread. It sears through your dragons wingsails, and you can feel it tangling up on your leg! The wherhide fabric doesn't seem to offer any protection at all, shaffit all! You finally remember to visualize and go Between, but you're certainly hurting. -5 HP Threadscore. — SAVED BY NZAMBITH!

Round 3 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid
Green Nzambith 8/10 HP

Saves: N/A

After a few dips and dives Vennodren was starting to feel a bit confident in their abilities. Nzambith was doing wonderfully and her easy, plodding nature was starting to soothe him. She caught sight of a bit of Thread before Vennodren did and dove after it, causing the rider to lift out of his saddle once again. He cursed softly as he was slammed into the saddle seat once more, his already bruised backside taking another hard hit.

"Shaffit, this strap is awful!" he growled as he reached down to adjust the strap, tightening the buckle once again. He could feel Nzambith chuckling at his irritation, clearly amused by his mild sufffering.

Round 3 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid
Green Nzambith 8/10 HP

Saves: N/A

Rubbing his butt, Vennodren tried to find some Thread to distract himself from the dull ache settling in his lower back. One slam had been painful but two was nearly too much. He'd need to take it easy for a few days after this to let that bruise heal up.

Slightly distracted, he and Nzambith jumped Between to reach the Thread, but when they returned from the cold, dark space they were far from their intended target and very much in the open. Flushing a deep shade of red, Venn urged Nzambith to fly back to their spot in the formation. Whoops.

Round 3 - Day 2 - Roll 3: General Grid
Green Nzambith 8/10 HP

Saves: 1 0

Deciding to stay a bit conservative after his goof-up, Venn kept Nzambith to her zone in the formation, flaming what Thread they could reach without any ambitions moves. They kept an eye out for their fellow dragons and riders as they flew.

Thankfully Thread wasn't falling near them when they spotted Loreleth and J'lar once more, this time airborne. The small blue looked less shaky than he had on the ground, but Venn could still tell he wasn't nearly as focused as he needed to be despite J'lar's best efforts. Seeing their brother fall from the sky had probably shaken the poor blue quite a bit knowing how fearful he was for his clutchmate's well being.

Almost too fast to catch, the pair jumped Between to reappear a blink later a fair distance from where they had been, chasing Thread that wriggled its way through the sky. Nzambith saw the clump closing in fast on the duo just before Vennodren did and she called out to her brother once more, her tone of voice still as dull and dreary as ever despite her quick comment.

Behind you, to the left, brother! Thread closing in fast! Venn gripped the horn on his saddle tighter tensely, hoping she had called out in time to save the duo from a world of pain the little blue didn't need to suffer through.

Round 3 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid
Bronze Illiandinth 13/16 hp
Held saves: 0

2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

----

... Shaff these straps! C'sar was going to check the moment they were on the ground. It was distinctly unsettling to feel himself practically flying unassisted - flying with Illiandinth was an entirely different matter. They had an entire Wing counting on them and here they were. Again.

5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!

----

There! Illiandinth said, and they dove, darting away from the thread that dared to threaten their airspace. No, not now. Not with the eyes of their Wingleader upon them! Now! C'sar ordered, and Illiandinth twisted, flaming the thread from the sky. This time they did not stop to watch it fall, for there were other matters to attend to.

It's heading right for-- C'sar's words were cut off as they shifted out of the way, dropping between. Yet when they reappeared, they were utterly surrounded by Thread. C'sar hissed, Illiandinth's eyes greying with pain. Suddenly it seemed as though his wherhide was useless. He might as well have been naked. As the thread bit into his leg, C'sar directed his Bronze between.

One...

Two...

Three.

When they returned, the Bronze faltered slightly in the air, but then gathered himself. The Demon would not be stopped by mere Thread!

Round 3 - Day 2 - Roll 3: Wingsecond Grid

6 You are inspiring and a natural! Your dragon gives encouragement to those who need it, and an impassioned speech. You're really getting into this, and you definitely are feeling great. You're such a beacon of hope to the rest of your fellow weyrlings that they too seem inspired to keep up the fight. All weyrlings currently fighting Thread get +3 HP!

----

Loreleth, Illiandinth crooned to his frightened sibling, You are brave to continue in such pain. Do not fear - I will not allow any among us to perish. For indeed, all of them were his. His siblings. His. Thread could not steal what belonged to the Demon.

Uta
+3 HP!

Aleyath! You are a credit to your Wing and your Weyr, he told his brother, sending a wave of strength to the Brown. He had noted the other's bravery and prowess. Soon enough they would all be flying in their own Wings, but for now... for now, they flew together.

Smerdle
+3 HP!

Bold Hessianth, your bravery has been noted. Fly well! How strange it was, indeed, to speak so to his brother. Yet C'sar's encouraging hand told Illiandinth that this was the course he must take. And indeed, it was quite true.

demon_pachabel

Tinanath, Illiandinth purred, extending the power of his own will to the other, raising his Blue brother up, You are in no one's shadow. Indeed, the Blue was showing himself to be an excellent Threadfighter.

Aramath, you have nothing to fear from flames. Let the fire within you burn brightly - at the enemy that would seek to quench it. If you are afraid, I will be your shield. For Illiandinth was a large dragon, and well able to take a simple burn.

Teiha
+3 HP

Nzambith, your ferocity is unmatched. You fight splendidly well, he told his sister, sending a brush of encouragement to her. She was showing herself to be an excellent fighter, indeed. He was... proud...? What was this strange sensation?

SilverLutz
+3 HP

My dear sister, how well you fly, Illiandinth almost sung, knowing all too well that she was not overly pleased with males, and yet also not blind to the sight of his fierce Green sister.

Hattaki

((If you are fighting Thread and I missed you, please let me know! But you get a +3 HP anyway!))

Round 3 / Day 2 / Roll 1: Standard Grid
Blue Loreleth: 10/12 HP
Saved by Hessianth // +3 HP from Illiandinth!
Held saves: 1

The blue dragon was in pain, but forced the hurt down and away. Better he suffer than his beloved and dear wingmates, though he worried about his rider. Neither of them were feeling good, but this was Threadfall... Did anybody ever really feel good? Still, the blue kept any complaints to himself, and instead focused only on their training, and chasing the silver menace.

Jumping Between, the winds shifted, blowing a patch of Thread far too close. Neither rider nor dragon saw the menace, but Hessianth's cry of warning saved them. Giving a startled squeal, the blue immediately dropped altitude, veering away from the patch even as a brown form flamed it from the sky. Thank you, Hessianth! I... I did not see it. His words were gentle, fearful, and touched with guilt at his confession. He had been so focused on a smaller tangle that he had almost wound up with a catastrophic wound!

Thankfully, his brown brother was there to save the day. Sending a wave of love and gratitude, he was able to get back into position and focus on any other strands. Shortly after, though, came a surprise--the touch of Illiandinth! The blue dragon practically blushed from such praise from his Big and Important bronze demon of a brother. I am certain they will all be safe with you in charge. Came the quiet response. Surely, none had died... Strigonth, Hessianth, Illiandinth... they were all leading the wing so well! They were all calm, cool, and collected. The blue could only wonder at such calm. Were they not afraid? Perhaps that was simply the difference between a Leader and a Wingrider... But that was neither here nor there. If illiandinth promised none would perish, then Loreleth would believe him.

Day 2 / Round 3 / Roll 1: Gung-Ho Grid
Green Seirath: 13/13 HP (+3 from Illiandinth!)
Held saves: 0

Emboldened by her 'masterful' save of her large brother and by the sweet words that Illiandinth offered her in way of praise for her flying, Seirath's speed picked up and her movements grew flashier and more fierce. A trilling trumpet erupted from her as she dove for a clump of thread, moving so fast that she knew for certain she'd catch it even as Amra's voice in her head begged for her to slow down. It was too fast, it was too much at once, if they kept going so fast...!

A voice rang out in Seirath's mind that wasn't her rider's urging of caution, it was another, a sister! Eyes swirling yellow as she startled instantly realizing what had happened, the small green made a soft creel in response and was Between before she became tangled, the icy cold seeming to snap her from her state of instinct rather than thought. Finally she could hear Amra's words fully as they came back from between and she sighed a bit, dampened by the close call of nearly being singed even if she'd been doing so well.

Thank you, my beautiful sister, if not for you I can't imagine the pain. Your skill at fighting thread is simply wonderful, be safe up there, you and your rider! I'd hate for anything to happen to that beautiful skin of yours! Seirath crooned a golden tune for her larger sister that left Amra's eyes rolling up into her head despite herself.

Quote:
1. In your dragon's haste to get Thread, you completely overshoot the target. Your dragon's tail and foot get caught in the tendrils, forcing you to blink Between. Ouch! -2 HP ~ Saved by Nzambith! <3

Round 3 / Day 2 / Roll 2: Standard Grid
Blue Loreleth: 10/12 HP
Held saves: 2
The blue dragon felt inspired. He wanted to do well, and he wanted to prove to everyone that he did not need saving or their concern. That he could do this, that he was doing this! He also wanted them to know that he could help them and be good and reliable...

You're doing just fine, Lore. J'lar thought, trying to reign in his blue's anxious thoughts. They still weren't out of the woods yet, and there was still a lot of Thread falling. No need to be like any of them. Just be yourself, baby, that's all the world needs.

Round 3 / Day 2 / Roll 3: Standard Grid
Blue Loreleth: 10/12 HP
Held saves: 2

The blue and his rider continued the fight. The large man still worried about his blue--he could feel the echo of his dragon's pain, of the their previous run in with Thread. But he also could feel the blue's dedication. The damage was painful, but he didn't feel either were in danger of succumbing to their injuries. His leg could be looked at after Loreleth's neck and wing wounds were; though periodic glances showed dark patches where green ichor stained his neck.

Wheeling, diving, chasing, both rider and dragon remained alert for Thread. They appeared from the cold of Between flaming, and were so intent on a nasty tangle in front of them, they hardly saw the Thread fall down from behind...

Day 2 / Round 3 / Roll 2: Regular Grid
Green Seirath: 13/13 HP (+3 from Illiandinth!)
Held saves: 0

Through sheer force of will Amra managed to calm her dragon down enough that the pair of them were finally moving in sync, with the marked exception of the flirting that Seirath never seemed to quite give up. While on the ground she could at least brush it off and laugh about it but in the air... they needed concentration! At least it seemed that her dragon was calming down from their near miss and the two of them took a breath and came to a sort of understanding as they looked about for thread with renewed courage.

As long as they each had one another they would be good, they would be safe and strong. Seirath's love surrounded her rider as she glanced for a strand somewhere, eyes careful.

Quote:
4. No Thread is near you, and there's nothing really to be done. The winds are calm and you're in good spirits. You've got this. A moment to think, a moment to breathe. Look at you, fighting Thread like a real rider!

~ ~ ~ ~

J'cheyn and Savaceth kept tabs on the weyrlings. Though some had taken heavy hits, so far, none had fallen like Vedmath. The dark-haired rider could only hope they could make it through and finish up this last hour. Keep up the excellent work, precious ones! The little green gently encouraged each one. She was so proud of how they were faring, fighting through the thick of it, even amid pain and scoring. You'll all be done soon!

As the green pair turned on wing to catch some silvery strands, J'cheyn knew it was time to relieve a certain bronzerider of his duties. If you would be so kind, my sweet. He encouraged Savaceth, who hummed in delight.

You served us well, young Illiandinth but it is time to change places. Tinanath, please come serve your weyrlings as acting Wingsecod. It was a request and a command mixed in one.
