Lewis was pretty excited for the new leadership in some of his favorite clubs. This one, however, was one of his favorites, if only because he'd get fed. Though, since the challenge was to tour across Europe, he wanted to make some desserts from Nan's giant cookbook. Thankfully, all of them were able to be prepped the night before, so he didn't have to wake up earlier on the weekend than strictly necessary. As he walked into the club, he heard Adelai comment on changing ingredients in order to remain alive. "We talking allergies? Mine's walnuts. Thankfully not something deadly. They just make my face swell up and I get a rash." He nodded solemnly as he set down a Caramel Apple Meringue Cake from the Faroe Islands, and a nice Ukrainian Kiev Cake. He noticed there were forms to fill out as well, so he quickly jot down his information, all while eyeballing the other food that he couldn't wait to tear into.

Mea had asked Nain for some good recipes when it came to Welsh cuisine. If anyone would know the good stuff, it was her! And sure enough, she sent him some recipes he could make easy-peasy! He opted for Welsh Rarebit. Nora had also sent a big loaf of homemade bara brith bread too. So when it was time to go to the kitchens (during which Mea only got lost once!), he carried both her food and his. "Hi Miss Alice! I made rarebit! And Nain Nora sent some bara brith. That's tea bread! She said to give it to you, so I think this is what she meant."
As he tried to figure out how to set both trays on the counter, a familiar pair of paint-stained hands lifted both out of his hands. Mea signed a quick thanks by tapping his fingers against his chin, then out. When he noticed there was paperwork now, he looked at the questions, then over to his cousin. Since he didn't want people to think he was dumb, he used his rapid BSL to ask questions, rather than doing so aloud. As he turned, his messy undercut showed enough to make his implants known to anyone that didn't know already. "Hey Lewis, I don't think I have any allergies, right? Or does that also mean food I think is icky?"
Lewis carefully crouched down, making himself a bit closer to his younger cousin's height. "No, little dude, allergies are foods that cause a negative reaction and can make people sick. You can just not eat your icky foods, right?" Once Mea had grinned and nodded, Lewis ruffled the messy brown hair before standing back up. "But you'd better turn that in so Alice has a copy, alright?" Mea nodded, handing the form back to the leader of the group. He was already so hungry just being near the food!

Racheal 'Rey' Eir Ross-Heulwen Hufflepuff │ Second Year │ Twelve Years Old │ Single
The tiny redhaired Second Year was having a time of it as she was hauling her contributions to the ‘Tour of Europe’ event Alice was holding today. Rey wanted to show her how much she progressed from what she was able to do last year, and while maybe she wasn’t able to make stuff other than from what she knew of home, at least Ireland would be represented well by her efforts. She was lugging a heavy pot filled with roasted red potatoes and corned beef brisket, as it just seemed appropriate for a fall day, while there was a basket filled with freshly baked Irish brown bread. She also had a freshly made bread pudding in another pot that she managed to have magically floating along with her as she went.
Her plan was to get all the important stuff in place at the party first before rushing off to get the crock of butter and the vanilla ice cream to complete her contribution. Knowing Lewis and Mea were bringing their efforts to the event, Rey didn’t want anyone to think she couldn’t do things in the kitchen too. The little Second Year also was wearing a pretty floral pattern dress, as this was a good excuse not to wear her usual school clothes, and she wanted something for Art Club as well.
“Hi, Miss Alice,” she said, with a grunt of effort as she struggled to get the door open, and get her contributions through the entrance. “I, um, brought roasted red potatoes, corned beef brisket, and made bread for it. Oh, I made bread pudding for a dessert too.” As she got into the club room she saw Alice wasn’t the only one there, as her brother and cousin were unloading their wares, and a bunch of others were present too. ‘Wow, it’s a full house. I hope I made enough for everyone to try.’ Rey’s eyes widened as she spotted a spare bit of clear table, and she carefully picked her way through the room towards it. She didn’t relax until after her heavy load was safely in place. With a sigh, she cracked a small smile of triumph.

Once Ella finished her dish, Alice scooted over to smell in because she'd been curious about what her friend had been working on. She gave her a thumbs up and a wide smile. The door opened and Tàmhas came in carrying several dishes, which caused the blonde to pretend to sigh exasperatedly, but she moved to help him get everything settled down. When he greeted her, he called her 'Henny', which made the blonde quirk an eyebrow. What did he call her? But he said he brought her a gift and she was intrigued. She opened the box to see the set of knives he'd made her and she gasped loudly. "Oh my gosh Tàmhas! They're beautiful! Thank you so much!" she exclaimed and hugged her friend so tight! "Uhm, by the way... what does 'Henny' and 'Henny Penny' mean?"
Following Tàmhas came her cousin Aina, carrying a dish. Alice helped her fill out the card, then they were joined by Kasamir and Hesperia. The blonde was happy to have a new member in Kas and she had already seen the heart eyes dancing between the two of them. Each of them got a greeting before more people arrived. Adelai arrived with two dishes, but before she could move to help him, Tàm got him and helped him get set up. Adi had something else for her, a message from Seb. The blonde huffed and said, "I reminded him to keep his camera in his bag. Oh that boy... Thanks for the message Adi." Alice was in a tizzy of people to greet, she barely got to try any of the food being brought in.
When the door opened again, this time it was Lewis joining them in the club. Alice greeted her friend/Prefect and nodded, making a mental note of his allergy. She didn't really have to because of the note cards, but she always did whenever anyone told her an important piece of information. She indicated that the ecclefechan tart had walnuts, but everything else so far was free. Mea followed his cousin in and he called her 'Miss Alice'. Alice had a flashback to her first year where she called Linsey 'Miss Linsey' and realized how much she'd changed since then. Also Mea had a tea bread from Mrs Nora and Alice thanked him for it. She caught him turning to sign to Lewis, but decided not to try to eavesdrop on their conversation. Which was good because Rey arrived right after him with a bunch of dishes as well. The teen went to help her, feeling a little flutter when Rey called her Miss Alice too.

Well, Alice did say this was a very lively club and Aina could definitely tell that was the case with the amount of people showing up. As it naturally did when there were lots of people, it was starting to get loud. Since Alice and Lewis were here, Ai could turn off her implants if it got too much to bear. That was when she noticed the boy she assumed to be Meallan start to sign to Lewis. She did catch notice of an implant much like hers peeking out of his hair. The girl tucked her hair back behind her ear so her implant was visible as well, then she shuffled off of her chair and walked over to them. To Lewis, she signed, "Hello Lewis, good to see you again." Then she turned to Mea, grey-blue eyes sweeping over him. "Hello, my name is Aina. I'm Alice's cousin." Her signing was faster than she usually did with her cousin since it Meallan and Lewis were better at it than Alice was.

Tàmhas was glad to help as people filed in. There were a lot of dishes and not as many hands. After gifting Alice the knives he'd made for her, she seemed quite glad to receive them. He gave her a tight hug, and was about to respond again when she asked about his nickname choices. "Weel, 'Hen' is a term o' endearment fur wummin. 'Henny', or 'Henny Penny', is fur younger girls. Either wey, tis an affectionate phrase. Ah figured it suited ye weel. If ye dinnae lik' it, ye'll nae hear it again." He'd figured her gender changing meant for a change of pet name too, but if she disliked it, he'd certainly put an end to it. He helped a few other people, a happy grin on his face. Now he just needed to get the herb garden going, and everything would be in swing.

Mea turned to wave at his sister when she walked in, and Lewis was about to jump to her aid, but Alice got their first. Even his long legs couldn't move quickly in this growing crowd. Thankfully the student kitchens were pretty big and had multiple places to cook. Meallan carefully adjusted the volume on his ears, listening to Rey's list of foods. "Wow! I only made one thing! Looks like you're more the chef than me!" He giggled, giving a thumbs up to the redhead.
Green eyes turned back to his cousin, but his hands stopped mid-sign as a girl about his age walked over and greeted Lewis... then him! Oh wow! And she was signing so fast! Either she was from a family who knew or... NO WAY! He reached a hand up, fingertips brushing his implant when he noticed she had similar ones attached. "Hi Aina! It's nice to see you again." Lewis sighed first, gently bumping Mea who'd zoned out a bit in his excitement. "Hi Aina! My name's Meallan. I'm Lewis' cousin. It's nice to meet someone with ears like mine." There was only one other person in school with hearing aides, but Sierra's weren't implants like his. It was so cool and he immediately hoped they could be friends.

Oh man, oh heck, oh dang! Seb wasn't supposed to be running late. Alice had even scheduled his watch early, but he forgot he'd left his camera in the News room after bringing it in to have some summertime film developed. So now, instead of being on time for cooking club, he was behind. Thankfully, on his way he ran into Adelai and was able to pass on a message. He didn't want Alice to think he'd fully forgotten or something! After continuing his jog, he got distracted in news for a minute, messily writing up notes on the big whiteboard of tasks. With his camera in hand, now he just had to get all the way back across the dang school.
Running back, he got almost to the kitchen doors before he remembered he'd also cooked for today! Dang it! With a heavy sigh, he sprinted off to the other kitchen, then he stomped back toward the kitchen. By this time, he was sure the club would be fully done! Goodness gracious. When he got into the room, he was chuffed to see it was still in full swing. "Hey Alice! Sorry I'm late. First I forgot my camera, but then I remembered I made jammy cakes!" He offered the dish of jammie dodgers toward the blonde, then set them on one of the nearby tables. For his, he used strawberry jam, raspberry jam, and orange preserves. Thankfully they all had different colors so they could be told apart. If that failed, he used star cookie cutters for the strawberry cookies, hearts were for raspberry, and circles for the orange ones. Hopefully everyone liked them!

The theme for Cooking Club's first meeting this year was Asian Sensation and Alice had made sure to have Ms Tamra in the Library hold a bunch of Asian inspired cookbooks at the front for students to look through. Alice herself had planned to prepare three dishes for the club meeting, then wound up producing four. These were dishes that Alice had spent a few weeks practicing last year, since she wasn't allowed to cook at home. Her friends had been her guinea pigs for the dishes last year, yet she hadn't seemed to receive any complaints. In preparation for club, he had woken up extra early to get everything started and had spent several hours working on her dishes. During the process, she'd been joined by Lewis, who was working on some cookies for his art club meeting. It was nice to have someone to talk to while she was working. Usually she just hummed or sang to herself while she worked, which was ironically something that her mother did as well. But she had produced some pretty stellar dishes for the club. First up was a Wonton Soup, a recipe she had to modify a bit since she didn't want to accidentally poison anyone with a shrimp recipe. After all, her best friend couldn't have shrimp. Next up was a Pan-fried Sesame Tofu served over white rice, a dish specially designed for her vegetarian and vegan friends. Both of those recipes were Chinese inspired, and the recipe cards she'd made mentioned it there. Her next dish was a Thai inspired Panang Curry, something she was inspired to try after Csuri had introduced her to curry last year. Alice was still adapting to spicy foods, so her curry had very little spice to it, but it was still something that she listed on the card. Lastly she prepared a quick fourth dish, an Indonesian inspired Chicken Satay. She didn't include the peanut dipping sauce, instead swapping it for a soy sauce to dip into, just to be sure and avoid any allergies. All in all, she had a decent spread of food for everyone to enjoy. Alice knew that her club members would want to contribute food to the meeting, so she left spots open for food and the little cards to fill out with the recipe and any necessary allergy warnings. Lastly, she produced the cards she had used last year to make sure she addressed any allergies in the future, setting them down with some of her self-inking quills.

Seb was running a very busy schedule this year, which stressed him to no end. Thankfully he wasn't in charge of anything, really. Plus it was very possible that his schedule would be free of any quidditch stuff, depending on if Nic extended the good graces enough to allow him to try again this year..... and also if Seb could buck up the courage to walk back on that pitch. That was one of those things that had just been rolling around his noggin for a while now, and it was causing no end of stress. But today, today was all about food. Seb had worked on making some jiggly Japanese cheesecake and, from the same country, a Japanese strawberry shortcake that Ella had found. He was excited as heck!
Alice had (surely) gotten here early, so Seb decided to do the same. His cakes were both there already in the kitchen, so he just had to make sure he grabbed his new camera before heading down. Sure enough, his girlfriend was there, humming to herself while she finished up. He chuckled softly and got into the fridge, carefully moving his two cakes to one of the counters. They looked nice, at least, and Ella had written the ingredients down for him, which was extra nice. There was also a fancy lunch box in the fridge, along with a tag that had a familiar name on top. "Hey, Liss? There's a box in here for ya." He lifted it up and carried it over to the counter, before handing her the note that was on top. That, he figured, she could read all on her own.
Mчѕтεяч Nσтε: 'Alice, use this for your club. It's a mildly spicy butter curry (in the green compartment) and a hotter phall curry. There's also homemade Naan bread in the pantry left of the fridge and there is rice in the cooker. Remember, if you tell anyone, I'll fight you. Thanks. -C

Ella felt absolutely silly. Alice had announced the theme for Culinary Club ages ago, and yet, she still couldn't figure out how to cook the food right. It seemed like she was just destined to fail! The night before club, she'd slipped down to the kitchen to try and make a chicken katsu and fried rice... but somehow the chicken had been raw for ages while the fancy breading fell off, and while she was trying to deal with that, the rice and veggies burnt! She tried to fix them, but ultimately threw them out. Linsey and Alice had worked too hard on the club to have her shoddy attempt at cooking ruin the day.
Instead, she'd sneaked off to bed, then tried to make herself happy for the meeting. Everyone always brought food and she just... went for obligation sake. Walking in, she was a little glad to see it was just Alice and Sebastian. Thankfully, the crowds hadn't amassed upon the offer of food. "I... um... I tried... b-but..." Ella offered up a little shrug, dark eyes looking down at the floor. With her head tilted down, her hair fell in its usual curtain, helping to obscure a bit of her upset. After a sigh and walking a bit away, she filled out her form, then stood toward the corner, trying to keep out of everyone's way.

Alice was finishing her setup when Sebby arrived and gathered the desserts he'd prepared for the club meeting. He also mentioned that there was a box in the fridge for her and Alice furrowed her brow. She hadn't been expecting anything. Seb handed her a little note and Alice read it, then smirked. It was from Csuri... so she wanted to participate but figured it was better not to attend. That was a start... maybe she could convince Csuri to come down to a meeting this year... Well, she'd try at least. Alice turned on a burner and set the note aflame, because she knew Csuri would be upset if anyone found out that she'd made the food. As the note was burning up, Ella came in and said she'd tried to make some food but had failed. Alice frowned a little, then had a great idea. "Hey come here Ells. Write up some recipe cards for these curries. They're Indian based and I know the recipes. We'll say we made them together, okay? And Seb, keep this a secret okay?" She winked at her boyfriend and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

Aaah, Saturday at Hogwarts once again. Adi had opted for his wheelchair, since it was the busiest day of his entire week and he knew after a big meal, he'd be too tired to walk much. But the theme had been Asian Sensation, and he was pretty good with some of those recipes. He'd made some Korean wontons, Samosas, and Mongolian Beef. All of which he'd practiced with Dad over the summer. He'd also made a Mango Lassi to drink, but that was up in the student kitchens.
Wheeling in, Adi had the trays of food on his lap. Seb quickly noticed and hurried to help lift them up onto the counter while he noticed the girls conspiratorially writing notes for some of the food. "Hey guys! I brought lots of food. One's a main, the other two are more... nibbles. Also a drink, but it's in the fridge." He grinned as he went over to collect his fancy pitcher, which he then, carefully, used magic to set on the counter. Scooting back over, he set up his handwritten ingredient cards, then sighed softly. He'd already snacked, but he was ready to try everything that smelled sooooo good!
Racheal 'Rey' Eir Ross-Heulwen Hufflepuff │ Third Year │ Thirteen Years Old │ Single
After the Art Club on Saturday, Rey was looking forward to the start of Culinary Club, even though Culinary Club was first chronologically speaking. She couldn’t claim to be as deft a hand in the kitchen as Alice and Ella and the other older students were, but the little Third Year was going to give it her best effort. Going into Third Year, the little redhead was feeling less like a waif trying to fit in with better-heeled classmates, but there was still the thought in the back of her mind that her efforts weren’t going to be as good as what the others could do.
Rey quailed a bit when Alice announced the Asian theme club opening, as most of her exposure to such things amounted to experiences at wretched curry shops and takeaways when she was younger, including one place where she got so sick she needed a trip to the urgent care afterwards. Thankfully, the shop this took place in got shut down by authorities shortly afterwards, though this was only because another patron died in the interim. As it was, she was fairly certain most Asian cuisine amounted to levels of pain and chemistry. However, Rey was determined not to let Alice and the others down, and she set to work, reminding herself how she determined the spice level, and she wasn’t required to make it liver pains inducing.
It took her a couple tries, but Rey managed to produce Butter Chicken, a rather simple Indian dish, which she served up with brown rice as a healthier alternative to fried rice and other things. She made sure to make up enough brown rice to supplement the meat. She created some pan-fried chicken dumplings and vegetables, the latter being also outside her comfort zone, but at least it wasn’t the boiled-to-death crimes against food one of her late mothers would create. Finally, she turned out a batch of black sesame cookies with semi-sweet chocolate chips for dessert, just because she wanted a sweet treat, and she was intrigued by the combination of flavours.
Walking into the club room, she saw Alice, Ella and Seb were already there, and so was Adi, and everything looked so good and smelled amazing, better than anything she ever saw in those shops. “Hi, everybody,” she said, as she looked for space on a table to set her contributions, while hoping her own efforts compared favourably to theirs.

So there were about a trillion clubs at Hogwarts. The unfortunate part was.... most of them sounded like a bunch of fun! There were clubs for music, art, half their classes.... cooking and roleplaying and chess too! After carefully considering their class load, Jazz decided to throw caution to the wind and join all the clubs that sounded like fun. They weren't obligated to stay, so long as they provided adequate notice of leave, right? The one Jazz found themself most excited for was culinary club, which was promising an 'Asian Sensation' at their opening meeting. Rooting through the recipe box mumma had packed in their trunk, Jazz found something that would be absolutely perfect.
As soon as classes had finished on Thursday, Jazz got directions to the student kitchen and started work. They carefully baked, using an ingredient mumma had shipped via a very speedy owl (or maybe Madame Heulwen helped... probably that one). After the cake was baked, it was layered with a nice, fluffy frosting, then set in the fridge to set for the night. The same happened on Friday, with Jazz leaving class and practically sprinting across the school to keep working. With chocolate wrap, fondant, melting chocolates, and a fair bit of food dye, eventually the cake took shape. It went on the counter with a cloche over top and a note saying not to touch.
Then, finally, it was Saturday! And club started at ten, so Jazz got up extra early to make sure they looked nice-ish. Not sure if they were going to cook, Jazz grabbed the apron their daddy had gotten them. Once they were sure they had everything, the first year hurried down a zillion steps to the kitchen. Inside, there were a few people, including some that she'd already met! "H-hey! I-I hope I'm n-not late." Or maybe only a few people came? Or maybe they were super early? Jazz checked their watch, then hurried over to their -thankfully- undisturbed treat. Carefully opening it, Jazz carried the noodle cake over, trying to hide their titters.
"I-I made noodles! F-for club!" Their words were interspersed by giggles as the preteen tried to pretend to be serious. "I didn't even know there were noodles in here! Man, everyone's so talented!" The boy with green hair (though hadn't it been blue just a few days ago?) seemed a bit alarmed. Jazz giggled again, before saying happily, "G-gotcha! It's ac-c-ctually cake! I-it's pandan fl-flavor, with an oo-ube buttercr-cream." The bounced on their toes, happy to have (supposedly) fooled at least someone.
