The girl also pecked Korinna on the cheek and then collected her pokemon and ran off, making a beeline for the pokemon center. Once there, she got all of her friends patched up and treated for their injuries, and then she breezed on out of town, hoping to make her way to that festival she'd heard about. Mel gave him a look and a smile, reaching up to rub his shoulder in a reassuring, but understanding manner. She appreciated his concern, and she knew she had some serious knowledge gaps on this stuff, but she was being thoughtful about this. She had her moments and she honestly appreciated Brian being there to correct her and help her, but she needed to do things on her own, too. She would talk to him about it, but for now she wanted to teach Conglomerate his new move, get her pokemon healed, and move on to the gym to get that battle over with. She pulled away, turning her attention down to the exeggcute, and kneeling before them as they bounced and looked at her curiously, the largest moving ahead of the little group to peer expectantly up at her. With Conglomerate's moveset officially updated, Mel went to make sure all of her pokemon were healed and ready for battle. The duo went to find the gym soon thereafter, standing outside a moment to look up at it, before readying to head in. Or, well... Mel readied to head in. "You're not coming in?" she asked, noticing Brian hesitate when she started forward. He gave an apologetic smile. "No, uh... The gym leader...'s a girl, so..." Mel gave him a sympathetic, but slightly disappointed, look. "You know, one of these days, we're really going to have to work on this, Brian... I'd like for you to be able to come and cheer me on, sometime," she commented.
He shifted uncomfortably, looking away, then back at her. "I know..." he admitted. She gave him a small smile, then turned, but looked back as he reached out and lightly tapped her arm. "Don't forget him," he reminded, offering Blue's pokeball. She looked down at it, then gave an appreciative smile, taking the ball and changing him back onto her active party. She turned back to the gym, rolled her shoulders back-- and headed in to challenge the gym leader.

If she'd been able to use hold items without the threat of that extra damage from knock off, this would have gone much more smoothly.... but she ended up having to use Lucy, again. She sighed, rubbing her temples, but gave a warm smile as Korrina skated over. "You're telling me. I've rarely seen them do much more than swim," she joked in return. Brian glanced back at Lucy, adjusting his jacket a bit. "I think you're being too hard on yourself," he remarked thoughtfully, "Gym leaders are supposed to be strong. It's not surprising that you're pokemon faint during them. Training will help and all, but you have to be careful, too. Besides, I doubt Lucy minds." He shrugged. "Not that training for the next gym wouldn't be a bad idea." Mel frowned a little. She didn't really respond, either. She was listening, but.... I just meant... he could have a faster way of getting around. So that he could skip going through the cave and all," he pointed out. Mel seemed to consider that, before raising her eyebrow and shrugging. "I suppose you're right.... I hadn't really thought about that," she admitted. She gave Brian a curious look. "... Brian leaned over to try and take a peak at what Mel was staring at. "What's wrong? What does i--" Brian stopped and his mouth thinned when he saw the message. ".... Mel, are you sure that guy was human? Because that message looks an awful lot like how an alien attempting to disguise itself as a human, would talk," he commented, poking at her messenger. Mel rolled her eyes, shrugging him away and pulling the device out of his reach. "I'm sure it's just..." she started, but trailed off, looking uncertainly at the message. "... I dunno." She really wasn't sure how to... take such a message. It was so weird. It definitely didn't sound like Lala at all. But, clearly, the person knew her... Or at least, knew she had a monkey. Was this like a strange, threatening, ominous message...? Did someone hack Lala's device? Why did they call her... 'human trainer'? She frowned.

That.... made more sense. She was a little surprised how quickly the response came back, but... not quite as surprised when she found it was actually a Pokemon texting her. She didn't even know they knew how to text. "Who's 'Cheri'?" Brian asked curiously, obviously reading over her shoulder. "She's, um... Lala's psychic," Mel muttered vaguely. "Girl's watching you.""Huh?" Brian jerked up worriedly and leaned away to look around, letting Mel finally walk forward without bumping into him or hitting him with her shoulder. Or head. He looked back at her, frowning at the decoy. Apparently, he wasn't annoyed enough to make a scene over it, though.
"What do you mean, 'psychci'? He travels around with someone with psychic powers?" he asked. If he wasn't worried before, he sure as hell was now. Who the hell had Mel been hanging out with during that party?! "No," she emphasized, "She's an espurr. A pokemon..." Brian blinked, deadpanning, before striding up to walk alongside her. "I didn't know they could text..." he muttered. "Me either," she admitted, already working on a reply, "Guess little paws are more dexterous than we thought."
