Why do I have to help with this? The queen complained as they headed down to the beach. "Because you tend to eat a lot you glutton. You have to support yourself and the weyr now." Vosin walked beside her dragon with several poles over her shoulder. Killakeeth grumbled that it should be the holders who supported them in return for keeping their idiotic hides safe from Thread.
"Perhaps, but right now everyone is tight due to the disasters that have happened. We aren't hurting yet and that's what we're trying to prevent. It's that or go grovel to the holders." The thought was as disdainful to her as it was to her dragon who let out an angry hiss. Vosin found herself an unoccupied spot and set up her poles. The fish were biting well today!
She had a strong one on the line and waded out a little bit into the surf to keep cool in the sun. Vosin let out a yell as a strong wave swamped her causing her to loose her hold on her rod. Killakeeth heard her cry as she was playing in deeper water and managed to catch it as the fish tried to make a break for open water. Together they brought in the large fish!

Dsharmira was not so sure about the whole fishing thing. She knew she had no skills in fishing and thought maybe she would try the beach first. If she went out early in the morning she might find something. So here she was, just after sun up, walking the beach with Zhaoruith at her side.
The walk on the beach yielded a small batch of clams and mussels. Not bad for a morning's walk.

W'res knew he got this! Just hang the line in the water and wait. Right? Only he had been waiting a while. When the line began to move all he could think was finally! Some action! Only that action got out of control way too quickly for him. As he fought with whatever was on the other end of the line, W'res got increasingly more frustrated. He gave a large jerk of the rod and the line snapped, slicing into his hand. W'res looked morosely at the wound. Off to the healers with him.

Pemli was nervous about fishing, but knew the Weyr was in need of this food. If it meant helping in some way, then that was what she would do. She had put out a net, having learned all she could from those who did know about fishing, hoping she would have some luck. She nibbled her bottom lip in worry, when she noticed some tugging. She went to try and bring it in, when a strong wave came and tried to pull it away from her.
"No, please...the Weyr needs these,"she spoke, trying to pull against the wave. Thankfully, Ningesth was right near by and saw her rider's plight.
Don't worry, love, no wave will take these fish from you while I am around,the gold spoke firmly, taking hold of the net and helping Pemli reel it in. There was a whole net full of packtails flopping around.
"Oh thank you, Ningesth,"she told her gold appreciatively.

Running Character Total: 10 pts Character: Edalla and Green Moilath
Edalla knew fishing was not for the faint of heart. While she never had done much fishing before, she had made sure to get what information she could about it. After all, this was something that needed all hands that could be spared. She would certainly do all she could to make sure she didn't let her Weyr down. So here she was with a net in the water, waiting for it to fill up. Unfortunately, she had not accounted for the wave that came. She gritted her teeth as the five foot woman dug in her heels and pulled with all her might.
"Oh no you don't, you stupid wave! This is my catch, I got it fair and square,"she growled sharply. Moilath swam over and began to help her rider out with the net. Between the two of them, they managed to get the net with packtails hauled to shore.
That was too close, Mine,Moilath admitted.
Couldn't have done it without out you, my dear one,Edalla assured.

He wasn't sure quite how he had done it, but Bren was looking at a net full of decent-looking fish that he had caught. The sight drew a small smile from the candidate, especially once the mottled brown flit on his shoulder started pecking happily at his cheek. If he kept this up, maybe he wouldn't have to leave.

This was definitely not her strong suit but Shahera was willing to do what was needed for the Weyr. Out on a boat, she began to reel in the net and finally get a haul when the boat was rocked by a large wave. The ropes slipped out of her hands and she gave a small cry. Therianth was there to save the day though! Thank you! she called as Therianth caught the net and brought in the haul.

You fish with a net, and while there were a few tangles early on, you find your stride. Within your haul you find a rare but very meaty and very pregnant flatfish. This thing is ugly but its meat is known to be smoked--and its eggs are a true treat even Lord Holders pay a pretty penny for. Casgar and the kitchenfolk will be more than pleased! +15 points
Keris' soft chuckle is gentle, pleased. Though she may not have been born to a hardy craft, and there was no denying it wasn't exhaustive, hard work -- her catch was quite nice, if she dared say so. The pregnant flatfish, it's belly heavy and distended with eggs, would be a fantastic eat of the fish by itself. But caviar was an even nicer treat on top. The.. odd pang at the sight of the pregnant fish that was doomed to be eaten was a feeling she had trouble shrugging off, even as she recast her line to possibly catch another.
Empathy runs deep through you. Kiadrath's soft voice was a whisper, her curl like the gentle waft of incense smoke.
