Niviora and Green Sauzath Fit / In Great Shape Last leg: 1. Yeet 2. +2 3. +5 Sauzath: -5 Points: 7
Quote: 1. Your dragon does not want to do this. Nope. Perhaps they're just distracted, perhaps they're feeling lazy, they actually sit down and start to curl up. Unfortunately, your rider has to try to urge them to go--which means they have to pause in their own jog to get their dragonet going. [-5 points]
Back on the muddy ground, it was one final slip that made Sauzath crash heavily to the ground. Niviora slowed down, breath labored as she waited for her dragon to rise back to her feet so they could finish -- after all, they were right there. She braced her hands on her knees, trying to even her air to slower, deeper breaths.
....no.
Niviora glanced up, to find Sauzath staring pointedly at her. 'No?'
Her tail smacked the mud like an angry feline. I'm quite done. You finish, I'll be here.
The weyrling groaned, wiping rain from her eyes -- and managing to not get mud on her face. 'We took a shortcut to get this lead, and you're done now?' There were other pairs coming, and worry set in for having her dragon trampled.
... Again.
...Fine, I'll finish. Sauzath took her time getting up, pointedly not putting as much weight on her front right paw, and Niviora sighed. They'd just walk the rest of the (short) distance left.

R'in of Bronze Demodeth
After their pause, R'in and Demodeth pressed forward, forgetting themselves in the steady splash of their feet against the ground. The bronze in particular built up such a mindless pace that he completely missed side-swiping his sister and her rider. He might not have even noticed had she hadn't shrieked at him, a sound he should have been used to, but still made him wince.
Apologies, Guarath.
He was sorry, but he didn't stop.
Quote: second leg (1/3) // average shape 2-3. Halfway through! At least, you think you're about halfway through. You're really getting winded now, and it is very tempting to slow down or stop. Still, you push on. You're getting close to the feeding pens--and need to encourage your dragon to keep running so they don't stop and scare the herdbeasts. If you feel a little hungry, and the herdbeasts look a little tasty, you know fully that's just your dragon's doing! [+1 point]

V'ime and Green Rhodonth Fit / In Great Shape First Leg 1/3 Points: 4
2-3. You start off strong, feeling very good about this run. This Weyr Lake isn't that big, right? Look at you, passing everyone by. [+3 Points] If you're in Great Shape, add another point because it's smooth sailing from here. Look at how awesome you look, taking the lead. [+1 Point]
V'ime stretched a bit as he listened to Liat, not wanting to jog on cold muscles. He didn't particularly care for running but he was good at it, much to his chagrin. Beside him Rhodonth was delicately stretching her limbs, acting as if a race wasn't something she cared to do, though he knew she was as competitive as the rest of them. V'ime watched as Rhodonth's eyes slid over to observe Sauzath, her sister that she'd raced on the hatching sands to him and Niviora.
"It's not a race," V'ime muttered quietly to which Rhodonth gave a delicate sniff.
Perhaps not in the traditional sense, but I do intend to win it. That earned a roll of V'ime's eyes before the duo set off, Rhodonth's gait light and dainty next to V'ime's steady, strong strides. Their pace was bringing them towards the front of the starting pack and V'ime knew he could keep this pace for a good while, but he was concerned about his green being able to do so as well.

Along they went, Rhodonth keeping pace surprisingly easily with V'ime. She was a quick green, that was for sure, but V'ime knew her time to shine would be at the start of the race. Perhaps if they could get far enough ahead they'd manage to finish among the first few. He was slowly getting to know his fellow peers outside of Niviora, though he couldn't speak much on their individual stamina and overall health beyond that of the average dragon rider.
Isn't this grand? Rhodonth cooed as she trotted along, her wings open and flapping now and then to help with her speed. She glanced behind her at her siblings and their riders, pleased beyond measure that they were ahead of so many.
"This is just the start," V'ime cautioned. "We've got a long way to go."

V'ime and Green Rhodonth Fit / In Great Shape Dragon Round 1 Points: 12
10. Your dragon is full of encouragement! In his or her excitement, they send you very loud and very vocal support. To earn this, have your dragon post a VERY public, and very sincere, encouragement. If some of the fellow weyrlings feel a little overly-fond of yours now, it's entirely your dragons fault (and the effect will wear off by the end of the day). [+3 Points]
Rhodonth could sense her rider's distaste in the weather and, although she didn't care for it either, she did want to be the first (or at least one of the first) to reach the beach. She pranced ahead in the rain, calling out to V'ime and those nearby as she ran. Rhodonth was never above a bit of attention, after all.
You're doing so well, V'imemine, even in the driving rain. There's no other rider as strong and determined as you, and your drive will see us on the beach first, I'm sure of it,
V'ime, for his part, turned a rather ugly shade of red as Rhodonth broadcasted her message to the other weyrlings in the area. He'd never been one for public affection, but when it was from his dragon he supposed it was a bit different.

V'ime and Green Rhodonth Fit / In Great Shape Dragon round 2 Points: 17
2-3. Oh, look at all those handsome clutchmates! Your dragon seems more interested in trailing behind than putting in much effort. There are cute boys (or girls, or both) to admire, after all. And that one in particular has suddenly caught your dragons eye. Quote the Weyrling dragon above you so you can spend a little time gazing at their fine tail, and send them a bit of personal encouragement. [+1 Point]
Rhodonth could feel the ache in the base of her own tail but V'ime seemed intent on ignoring it. She gave a little huff but continued to trot along beside him, growing a little bored with the long run. Greens weren't meant for stamina, after all, and she began to look ahead and behind to see where everyone was. She couldn't help but notice Demodeth and how his hide shone even amid the mud and rain. A shiny hide alone wasn't something to fawn over, but she could afford a bit of encouragement to her brother with a twist of sweetness added to the mix.
A long race like this should be your forte, Demodeth. You and yours will surely finish among the first.

V'ime and Green Rhodonth Fit / In Great Shape Final Leg 1/3 Points: 18
6-7. You might have been going on along with a steady clip, but you're feeling the burn now. Your chest is tight, you're gasping for air, but the end is so close. The sooner you're over, the better. Unfortunately, your body seems to give out near the end. You drop into a walk, or stop completely as you gasp for breath. Your dragon and Orioth croon encouragement, even as you strive to keep on moving. [+1 Point]
V'ime rolled his eyes and put on a bit more speed to try to urge Rhodonth into finishing the race. She was the one that was so gung-ho about finishing first, and here she was flirting with one of the other dragons! He pushed himself a little too hard for how far along they were in the race, though, and he slowed to a walk under the guise of letting Rhodonth catch up.

"Come on, Rhodonth," V'ime called out between sucking deep breaths into his burning lungs. The dainty green pranced along beside him finally, giving him a little mental boost to encourage him to finish strong. V'ime took a few more deep breaths before starting to jog once more, slower than he'd started but steady all the same.
