Born from a one-night stand to a rogue mother, Kasida grew up never knowing her father. So when she met the slightly older Ngoma as a cub, who was actually her half-sister through her father, she had no idea they were related. They grew up together, the best of friends and nearly inseparable. Eventually, Ngoma fell in love with an oblivious Kasida. Kasida fell for a charming young male, who was quite taken with her as well. They shared a short lived relationship, unknowingly kept track of by Ngoma- who was very upset by this turn of events. One day, Ngoma lured away Kasida's mate and, taking advantage of his cockiness and lesser age and strength, she killed him. When Kasida found Ngoma with her dead mate she immediately was told how he attacked Ngoma and she panicked- killing him in self-defense.
Ngoma soon after realized how much Kasida had seen and done since going off with her mate and panicked, worried that Kasida might abandon her again in favor of such adventures. One night, she went off and seduced a passing rogue lion. She convinced him to go and attack Kasida, thrash her around a bit. Caught completely off-guard by the seeming-unprovoked attack, Kasida was badly injured in the fight. Her leg was permanently injured, making it impossible for her to walk without a limp let alone run, hunt and generally take care of herself. Terrified and emotionally scarred, she quickly clung to Ngoma, depending on her friend to keep her safe.
Completely oblivious to Ngoma's part in what happened, Kasida adjusted as best as possible to life relying wholly on her friend. She gained a new appreciation and even love for her, owing a great deal to Ngoma's apparent dedication and compassion. But everything went bad when Ngoma's guilt finally got to her. Kasida was crushed when she learned of everything Ngoma had done, and despite her poor chances of survival on her own, she left.
