The snuggle time between Vivienne and Dumuzi was interrupted by a rustling in the bushes, they both turned in time to see a Pansear pop out with a serious of what looked like it’s attempt at karate moves or something. What was with all the monkeys that they were coming across today? Dumuzi was starting to feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Dumuzi sweat dropped a bit at the monkey antics, it certainly looked like it wanted to fight, and Vivi was more than happy to redeem herself from the last monkey that had made a fool out of her. She bounced up on her tail with a look of determination, and she was more than ready for this pokemon!
”Alright Vivi, open up with a water gun attack!” The little blue pokemon hopped off its tail and drew in a breath before blasting a pressured stream of blue water at the pokemon who had jumped into the air at them in order to get his attack in… and promptly got a face full of water as a result. There was no contest, this pokemon was at a disadvantage from the start.

”Alright! Good show, Vivienne, that will teach him to mess with us.” Dumuzi gave a bright smile and gave his little pokemon the thumbs up in response. Vivienne had regained her lost honour after that last fight and she bounded around happily, glad that she could once more prove herself as a worthy companion to the human that caught her. ”Let’s go and try to find some more, shall we? We may head back to Santalune City after a while if things go alright, okay?” Vivi gave Dumuzi a look which made him turn his gaze away, he knew that she was wanting him to get back with Theo, but right now he just wanted some more cool down time. ”Come on, let’s get going.”
After a while of searching the bushes, they came across some Sitrus berriers that were growing wild and ready to be picked. Dumuzi smiled and picked them for later, if anything he could make them into something yummy for him and his pokemon. He looked over his shoulder at Vivi and smiled. ”We’ll go on a little longer and then take a break, okay, you and Titania must really be hungry by now huh?”

Dumuzi continued to search around for some more pokemon that Vivienne would be able to take on herself so she could get stronger. He was pleasantly pleased with her efforts and enthusiasm so far and it didn’t look as though she was going to be slowing down anytime soon. Dumuzi thought for a moment as he was making his way through the forest, maybe after Vivienne proved that she could handle her own without the help of Titania then maybe he would head back to Santalune city and try to find that illusive Flabebe that had escaped them before. He wondered how big it was? Maybe he had overlooked it somehow when he was distracted with the other pokemon that were in the area? It was always a possibility and Dumuzi made a few mental notes, the second one was the mental note to focus many in the flower of the field instead of casting a wilder net like he had been doing. The Professor did say that he should look to see the changes of the flowers depending on the area, so maybe if he did that he would find the flowers that held Flabebe on them. He didn’t think that this would be easy anyway, but at least he could spend more time looking specificially for his target pokemon. He nodded his head in confirmation, it sounded like a good plan to him, but first thing was first, to get Vivi a little stronger before he went back. Dumuzi once more focused on his search now that his plan was figured out… and if he met Theo’s again… he would have to apologize for his outburst. But that would be if they caught up to each other again.

Theo sat down after some wandering to think. He should train the weakest Pokémon first. So....Weedle then? Hm. He already forgot. He'd have to check when he sent Jesamine to storage and switched her with someone else."Ma...."Theo snapped out of his thoughts whennhe heard the small cry and stood. What was that? Taking a few steps, he heard it again turned a bit before walking forward. He soon came across an injured Pokémon that looked like a child with a giant jaw growing out of its head. It looked...dead. The Pokémon and jaws were still like statues. Was it dead? Tilting his head, Theo knelt and reached out, only to jump back like a ninja when the jaw snapped at him. It continued to thrust at him, snapping its jaws angrily, though missing because Theo kept moving back."Whoa! Hey, stop it! I'm not going to--"Theo looked over to see a Houndoom jump out of the bushes and stand on the jaws, keeping it down. What the heck? "Good boy, Hades." Theo saw the man walk out from behind a tree, and he just knew immediately he was a poacher of some kind. He had the gun and equipment to suppost that theory. Theo glared. So, he was hunting the bite-happy Pokémon? That would explain why it was hurt and bit at him so much. It probably thought Theo was another poacher."What do you think you're doing!?"

Theo probably shouldn't have shouted at the guy, because he suddenly looked irritated. "Oh, look. Another trainer's trying to get in our way. Hades, take care of him like you did Mawile's previous owner." Houndoom snarled and turned his attention to Theo, jumping off the Mawile's jaws and stalking towards him. It took a few moments for Theo to actually realize what the poacher was talking about, and he only realized because he spotted the blood on Houndoom's fur and bone features. Did he kill the other trainer!? Theo backed away quickly, though being on his bitt didn't give him much speed. And, Houndoom wasn't a snail. Hades suddenly jumped at him, but was smacked away by the full force of Dominick's tail. It hit a tree and yelped, unable to get up again."Th-Thanks, Dominick....""Hades!" While the poacber was distracted with his injured, and probably crippled, Houndoom, Theo rushed over and picked Mawile up before darting off. "Damn little--! Gyarados, tear that boy to pieces!" Now he had a Gyarados, too? Weren't they dangerous Water-types? They were also huge, weren't they? Even still, Dominick clearly wasn't afraid to take it on, and managed to pin it down before following Theo. He had to get out of the forest? Who was the other trainer? It wasn't Dumuzi, was it? He didn't see how....Dumuzi said he only had two Pokémon, and Theo had met them both.
[I can't help but imagine Dominick and Gyarados fighting and then just rolling passed Dumuzi in one of those jumpscare "what the balls was that" moments sometime during this series of posts. Damn you, Pirates of the Caribbean!]

Theo managed to get out of sight of the Gyarados. He hoped Dumuzi wasn't nearby. The Gyarados was angry now and thrashing about to find Theo; Dumuzi could be hurt if he was nearby. Maybe he'd gone ahead to Santalune City? If so, then he'd be fine."Noivern!"Dominick decided to stop Gyarados' rampage himself. He tackled the Pokémon to the ground before giving a threatening roar to challenge it to a battle. Gyarados was more than eager to oblige.

It was such a beautiful day outside: The birds were chirping in the trees, the sky was blue as far as the eye could see and there was a pleasant warmth that came with the sun, cooled to just the right temperature, Dumuzi and Vivienne were peacefully minding their own business when a fight happened to come crashing through into their immediate area. Dumuzi’s face held a dumbfounded looked of surprise to see a Gyarados and a large, white bat looking thing come crashing into the scene not far away from them. As the breeze from the impact died down and the two pokemon looked like there were about to square off with each other, Dumuzi figured that now would be a good time to leave, and the sooner he could get on top of that the better. Dumuzi hardly had time to think as he snatched up little Vivienne and start to bolt away before bumping into a familiar blond haired young man, Dumuzi’s eye twitched. Holy crap, he left the guy alone for, like, what, ten minutes and already he was getting into some serious troubles… and with a blasted Gyarados no less. Or was the Gyarados his and the big white bat thing belong to someone else? ”Okay, seriously, do you get into fights like this often? If we do travel together after this am I going to have to worry about being squashed as a result?” Dumuzi asked, a forced smile was mixed with a look of exasperation about what he had more or less been thrust into. Oh, was now the time for this? ”D-do you need help with this or is this a formal battle?” Dumuzi asked, still obviously flustered by the narrow escape that he had.

Theo jumped when Dumuzi appeared out of nowhere, bumping into him. Seriously!? He was still here!?"Heh....I seem to attract people who want to kill me. First my uncle and now a poacher. Though, I....I guess I did provoke this guy. Anyway! What are you still doing here, Dumuzi? You should hurry to the city."He tensed when he heard the poacher returned his Gyarados. "My employer just called. There's been a change in plans. The pathetic little Mawile is yours, kid. But, I'll certainly be back for that Noivern of yours." Theo peeked out from behind the tree to see the poacher race off on a motorbike. What was that all about?"Vern....""Thank you for helping, Dominick. Are you hurt?"Dominick snorted pridefully as if to say no. Theo laughed a bit, but used a couple potions regardless and then returned him."...Are you hurt, Dumuzi?"
[This was just a plot thing. It'll tie into Theo's status later on. Also, Mawile is my favorite Steel-type. Being Fairy isn't bad either.]

Dumuzi gave a wide eyed blink at the little admission from Theo’s about being on a hitlist of a few people. ”I see we have a habit of getting up peoples noses, huh?” Oh, so Theo’s just has this thing about putting his foot in his mouth around other people? Well, now Dumuzi didn’t take what Theo’s had said too personally. But he hoped that Theo’s little gift wouldn’t get them into too much trouble as they went on. With the retraction of one of the pokemon and the departure of the poacher, Dumuzi stood silent while he watched the man depart on his motorcycle, he hated people like that, there was a kindle of displeasure and rage at seeing the man and knowing his profession. Those who heedlessly hunted pokemon like that were the worst of the worst and Dumuzi could only wish cruel and bad things upon them. If the person who paid him wanted that sort of pokemon so badly, why don’t they just go and collect it themselves? If they were going to make a collection item out of pokemon, they could at least have the decency to go and find them themselves. Dumuzi had glared at him until he was swallowed up in the distance and blocked from the trees. Hopefully he would get a chance to get at that guy again, and hopeful next time he would be ready to help Theo’s take him on and put him in his place. Dumuzi’s attention fell to the large white Niovern that was being treated with potions. He walked up a little cautiously to him. ”Is he really yours, Theo? Can I… pet him?” He made no move, at least not until he got permission. It wasn’t always easy to read other people’s pokemon and sometimes they could be grumpy to those who weren’t their trainer. His eyes dropped down to the oddly colored Mawile who looked very unhappy about something, like it was in some sort of morning or something. Dumuzi knew it was a fairy type - in fact, he had planned to try and get one for his own team- so seeing a pokemon look that down make his heart break a little bit. Dumuzi was pulled from his tenderhearted sympathy for Mawile when Theo’s approached him and hesitantly asked if he was alright. ”Y-yeah, I’m fine, thanks for asking.” His eyes dropped down and to the right. ”I’m… sorry –about earlier. I kind of flew off the handle back there. I think I misinterpreted what you had said to me and got a little sensitive about it. I’ve always been teased about my choice in pokemon, so when people put pokemon down or try to say that one pokemon is better than the other… I tend to get a little defensive about it.” Dumuzi’s timid demeanour quickly snapped and he found an index finger shoved practically into to the tip of his nose. ”But let’s be clear on one thing, mister! Every pokemon is worth something, even the cute ones that you don’t seem to think are worth their weight in battle, if you put enough love and effort into any pokemon they will get stronger. There are no useless or weak pokemon, only useless or weak trainers. Got it?” With that off of his chest Dumuzi felt a lot better. Dumuzi noted some dirt on his pants and brushed them off. ”Well, I was going to do some more training here but… if there are poachers around then I’m not too sure I want to hang around. Do you think it would be safe for a while longer or should Santalune City be the best place to be? Honestly, I’m still looking for a pokemon there…”

Theo blinked. So, Dumuzi irritated people, too? Though....Theo didn't think he had done anything ti irritate his uncle. Up until he was attacked, Theo had never even seen his uncle. It was just a...a coup. Not that it didn't hurt. Dumuzi suddenly asked if he could pet Dominick and the blonde looked at the Noivern."N-Not right now. He's still steamed over the battle with that Gyarados."Dumuzi suddenly scolded him about what he said earlier and Theo sweatdropped."I'm not saying Pokémon don't have value. Even Magikarp can be useful once it learns Tackle. I'm just....Not all Pokémon are perfect for every battle, so focusing on a single type or appearance isn't the smartest idea. I have nothing agains people like that, so long as they care for their Pokémon and such. I just...don't really get why they'd do that. I mean, battles against type advantaged opponents must be really hard, right?"Theo thought."I have to have Mawile treated. That poacher's Houndoom did a number on it. Let's get to the city."

Dumuzi tried to hide his disappointment at not being able to pet Noivern, but she supposed that it was going to be best to let him cool down after that battle, she could see that if the Noivern was of a bit of a heated temperament at the best of times that he wouldn’t likely be all that pleasant after a battle like that. Dumuzi himself certainly wouldn’t want to have a stranger pet his head after someone punched him in the face and then took off. Oh well, maybe there would be some other time when Noivern got a little more comfortable around him that he would allow him to give some pets. After scolding Theo’s, the response that he gave certainly baffled and indeed kind of soured Dumuzi a bit, he wasn’t going to storm off again, but his response did little to sooth any friction about the subject that was between them. Dumuzi crossed his arms and quirked an eyebrow, apparently the point he was trying to make fell on deaf ears. Granted, Dumuzi did see the reason in collecting a bunch of different pokemon to cover the weakness of the team, but everyone and there dog did that, in Dumuzi’s mind, there was a special sort of challenge for what he was doing, a challenge that would make his team stand out and give him obstacles to overcome so that when he did they were all the more sweet to him. If someone just collected the pokemon that they liked the look of, all the power to them! Hell, that’s how bonding with pokemon and becoming a trainer starts if you have no idea about the pokemon. He was sure that the Professor would agree with him on that one. When Theo finished his opinion about why pokemon shouldn’t be collected in a themed group.
Dumuzi titled his head to the side and gave Theo an odd look before quickly pointing out: ”So by default, you think that the Gym leaders and the Elite four –arguably the strongest trainers out there- are foolish and stupid because they theme their teams around their favorite types of pokemon… I’ll remember that when we face them, I’ll be sure to get ahead of you so that I can tell them that you think that way… I bet they won’t pull their shots on you after that and you’ll see the real power that a themed team can bring.” And Dumuzi meant every word of it. As someone who was building a themed team of his own, he knew that it could be a challenge to try and figure out a way to balance the team so that they would have a fair and even run against anyone who got in there way. It may not have been much now, and it may not have been any consequence to him, but Titania was a psychic type, and as long as he kept her strong enough to get some competition for speed out of her, he could take on and out any of the poison types before they did some serious damage to her or her team, so that was one weakness covered, he hadn’t totally figured out the strategy against the steel types yet, but he would think of them down the road for sure. ”I believe that even the themed teams of pokemon that consist of only one type with subtype variations can be a very strong and competent team all in its own, and that’s why I decided to theme my team with Fai~ with my favorite pokemon. You just watch, I’ll make a team with my favorites and you’ll be amazed how far I go.” Dumuzi then got a bit of an exasperated smile on his face. ”And what’s wrong with having you’re pokemon having something of a common weakness? Sure it’s a challenge but isn’t that part of the fun and adventure of it? You’re team of six will never be able to cover all the weakness of every pokemon, that’s just not possible, and that will lead to some instances where you won’t be strong against everything. Why worry about it, and why go into collecting battling with that mentality? What’s the point of going on an adventure if you don’t collect the pokemon that you like the look of, or sacrifice you’re favourite pokemon because you’re stressing too much about what pokemon will win against what type? You’re problem as a trainer is that you’re thinking about this too robotically, why not try and relax a bit and raise a team that you like and can be proud of, even if it isn’t invincible against everyone or every type?”
Hopefully, Theo would be less dismissive about people who collected the pokemon that they liked now, or perhaps saw things from a different perspective so that he wasn’t so uptight about his choice in pokemon and judgemental about those who themed their pokemon. Dumuzi’s gaze dropped down to Mawile who looked like they could use some medical attention and a little loving. Dumuzi’s face softened. :”Yeah, let’s get this little one to the pokemon center. There is a pokemon that I wanted to try and find in the City anyway.” That and he wanted to get away from the poachers as fast as possible. Let’s go. I’m sure my pokemon would love a rest at the pokemon center as well.”
