Gio was shocked at how quickly the Onix was rocking his Steelix. For him it was now a battle of wits and he needed to play his cards right. Hopefully the Steelix was stronger than its former trainer made it sound. "Steelix use Fire Fang" Gio commanded proudfully as he watched the Steelix's jaws seeming to light ablaze as it prompted the command. It charged at the Onix and clapped down on it. Gio knew something was different about it because didnt seem to try and burn the target but instead was going for sheer force.
Steelix used Fire Fang 65 base damage. No bonuses due to Sheer Force

Gio frowned in disappointment. He was being scolded for his poor choice in moves. "Im not from Kanto you see, Im from Johto. Not to mention Ill have you know I trained under Jasmine herself personally" not that it was a big deal but normally Gio would hound on type advantages during a battle. This time though he wasn't even trying to pay attention to type match ups and it was costing him. "I could easily take Misty down if I wanted same with you. Or should I say my Lucario could. He single handedly won me my first two badges from the Johto League" now Brock was getting in his head and Giovanni was letting his emotions get the better of him. "I hadn't planned on challenging Misty but now that you mention it I'll show her that Steel doesnt rust so easily from a little bit of water. Steelix use Ice Fang!" same as before the Steelix's jaws changed form. Except this time they seemed to be very icy and cold. Same as before it chomped down on the Onix with such a power that seemed to avoid any secondary effects that would have come up.

Brock shook his head. "You're going up against a rock type gym... Not being from here is no excuse," he said as he crossed his arms. "You're going to need more than one steel type to take on Misty, if that's your plan," he said, then stepped back, frowning, reading for the next round. He gritted his teeth as his Onix was finished off, straightening and returning the pokemon. "At least you finally showed you know your types after all," he remarked, "And you did win." He tucked his pokeball away, stepping forward to approach Gio, holding out a badge and TM. "So you earned this," he said, handing over the rewards.

Gio smiled as Steelix took out the Onix. He walked up to meet Brock. "Nice battle, but since we are on the subject of type advantages. You should have known as a Rock Trainer you were at a disadvantage from the get go" he took his bag and TM and began to walk out. Before he did he shot a hand in the air to wave bye. He turned his head "Remember the name Giovanni Versechi. Im sure you will hear more of me" he said before he actually walked out and stood there.
Not by choice but because there was an old man standing there blocking his way. "I saw your battle in there Lad. It was good, you need touch ups but it was good. Keep an old man company for awhile and Ill give you a present" Gio nodded with a smile. He was always up for gifts and always up for people who gave him compliments.

The old man walked Gio out towards the edge of town. "Its been a long time since I saw a trainer that did their best to focus on one type. Especially Steel Type" he said as he turned and smiled to Gio. "As it happens, I myself have Pokemon as most people do. However I am old and have nobody to take mine when I pass."
Giovanni's eyes went from being lit up to abit confused. "Im not sure I understand what you mean" Gio responded curiously.
"No heirs mean my Pokemon will be without a trainer and that is sad and unfortunate"

The old man interrupted Gio "I have a rare Steel type Pokemon that not many trainers have or have even seen. I would appreciate if you would take it off my hands for me" once again Gio's eyes lit up. So this is what the old man wanted? To give him his Pokemon? "But for a promise of course" Gio seemed to lose all hope as he figured the man was going to ask him for money or something. "I want you to promise me that you will train him and make him stronger. Get a couple badges with him and if you can manage it give him a good friendship with the many Pokemon you meet on your travels" Giovanni smiled at last and his eyes lit up bright once again."Sure thing Mister, is like to think no one can train Steel Types better than me. Just ask my Lucario" Lucario nodded in approval. Gio was a good trainer to him so why not to another Steel Type.
"I like your style kid, you could have gone in there and swept Brock with your Lucario. However you decided to use your weaker Pokemon and play type to your advantage. I think I can trust you" the man pulled out a Pokeball and handed it to Gio. Giovanni grabbed the ball with soft hands and turned around letting the Pokemon out of the ball. It seemed to be a Pokemon that was a sword and a shield. Only once had Gio seen a Pokemon like this and it was when he was in Kalos. It was an Aegislash.
Giovanni went to turn around and thank the man but he was gone. Giovanni didnt even see tracks leading away. Even Lucario was confused for he could no longer detect the old mans aura. Gio wondered if the man was a ghost or maybe he was just in a hurry. Regardless the man intrusted Gio with his own Pokemon. A Steel Ghost type. That ment it was strong off the get go. Giovanni couldnt seem to shake his smile as he turned and returned the Aegislash to its ball. The wind blew and Gio walked. He walked towards Mt. Moon. He would challenge Misty before heading back to Johto and he promised himself he would win.

There was no reason to leave and come back. Besides, he needed to gather the strength to attend a festival.
