Morgan looked just as rattled as the lookalike sorceress. "Don't look at me, I'm just as confused as you are!" she exclaimed, sounding more than a little nervous. Perhaps even terrified. What sort creature was attacking, if it was not one of her captor's projects? From the looks of things, it would have to be something that could fly. Otherwise, how would they even get up here? Said train of thought quickly lead to another, leaving the normally tanned girl blanching. "Holy s**t, did you piss off a dragon or something?!" she asked, fear and faint traces if panic evident in her voice.

"Hardly! Only hunters and foolish men trying to prove their heroism go hunting for dragons! I threw your friend in the dungeon with the same sort of lock and seal as your cage, he shouldn't have been able to get free! Even then I have several summoned demons of my own for him to contend with!" The woman's mood was quickly turning to anger as she began to storm off.
The sound of demonic screeching echoed up through the halls, growing louder as it drew near. Across the large hall that the balcony was on, Rylen rushed through the door, looking rather battered and worn out with a bloody sword in hand. Apparently he'd carved his way through quite the demon horde to get there. "Morgan!!" he cried in relief to see she was alright, but also quite confused by the look alike standing beside the cage.

"Rylen!" Morgan looked visibly relieved to see that her companion was well, or at least still amongst the living. She even seemed a little teary eyed. After the initial joy, she noted his confusion - alongside the direction of his gaze. "Yeeeaaah....I am just as confused about this development as you are.

"I should've put you under a sleep spell if I'd known you'd be this much trouble." The woman (let's call her Magey, because no one's asked her name, she hasn't introduced herself, and the author is getting tired of calling her "the woman" all the time) said with a huff of frustration as she summoned a blade of pure darkness in her hand.
"Sorry, as much as I try to avoid getting into trouble, I don't take well to getting thrown in a dungeon cell while I'm asleep." Rylen smirked as he readied his sword, his eyes taking on a sharpness that wasn't there before as he began slowly strafing in a circle, Magey matching his steps as they stared each other down like any good movie-style duel. "My skill with a blade is somewhat rusty, but I've been told my strength more than makes up for-GRK!" he was cut off by a sharp black lance materializing behind him and stabbing him through the gut.
Magey just smirked. "Fool. You don't bring a sword to a magic fight." With a wave of her hand, she yanked the lance--and Rylen--over to her, the lance disapating to drop Rylen at her feet.

For perhaps the first time since Morgan came to this strange world, she began to panic. She let out a dismay shriek at the sight of the lance as it burst through his chest. Tears welled up at the horror of it all, her one friend hurt and probably about to die because of her. Her hands shot up to cover her face as she stumbled towards the back of the cage - trying to distance herself as much as possible from Magey and the gruesome scene as a whole. Her eyes were tightly squeezed shut, so that she didn't have to witness it any longer. She was clumsy in her panic and horror, falling backwards with a painful sounding 'THUD!'.

Magey saw Morgan's terror and grinned. "Oh, don't worry, I'll be done with this little distraction in just a moment." she said as she flicked her wrist, a whispy, hazey purple hand forming to grasp Rylen by the throat and lift him into the air, floating him in the air just outside the balcony.
Rylen winced through all the pain that now wracked his body and clawed at the magic hand that threatened to either strangle him or plunge him off the edge. But despite his current situation, he glanced at Morgan...and smiled. Despite the pain spread across his face, he still smiled at her as though everything would be alright. And then he fell. The magic hand that held him let go, and he fell. And fell. And fell. And fell, until he was a small speck disappearing into the cover of clouds below.

Morgan said nothing in response, too traumatized by the sight and the implication of her situation to do something other than quiver in fear. What probably ******** her up the most was seeing how calm Rylen seemed to be about his fate, the way he tried to comfort her with a smile before falling. Now, he was as good as dead. Even if it wasn't her intention, it was all her fault. Had he never offered her kindness, he wouldn't have suffered or died because of her.

"Psh, some hero." Magey said as she peered over the edge to watch Rylen fall. "Points for trying, but it seems he was all bark and no bite." she said as she turned to walk off.
Suddenly there was a monstrous roar, the same one that was heard earlier, followed the rhythmic beating of giant wings from below. A great dragon, lean but strong and the color of pure emeralds being held up to the sun and sharp eyes of deep amber, flew up from below and hovered in front of the balcony, letting out another great roar to announce its presence. Stone crumbled as it latched onto the side of the castle with its mighty claws before spewing a stream of familiar green flame at Magey before she could react. While the sorceress was occupied with the attack, the dragon pushed off from the castle, grabbing Morgan's cage in its front claws as it flew off and dove down through the clouds from which it first emerged.

This all ended up being too much for Morgan to swallow, and as a result, she fainted like a particularly fragile oujo sort from some bad time period anime. Or at least, she fainted. She wasn't nearly as graceful as an oujo, as one might surmise by her previously falling on her a** as she did. At the very least, all she could hope for was to wake up and find that this had all been some improbably drug induced nightmare or something.

The dragon flew for some time before arriving at the side of a mountain nestled against the edge of a dense forest with a large pile of boulders. The dragon set Morgan's cage aside for the moment to clear the rocks away, revealing a rather cozy cave and what could only be described as a dragon's treasure trove. The task complete, it leaned down, its head hovering near the cage to check on his companion. "Morgan?" It was Rylen's voice, though deeper than normal, as he nudged the cage with his nose a bit to see if she'd wake up. No response. At least he knew she was alright. He made sure to avoid her cage when threw fire everywhere before. With a deep sigh, he grasped the cage tightly in his hands and bit around the top, the screaming of metal twisting and tearing apart filled the air as he set Morgan free.

Screeching metal bars being rended apart tore Morgan from her trauma-induced slumber, only to greet her with the sight of a gigantic dragon eating the top of her cage. This, of course, induced the perfectly natural and reasonable response considering her day thus far. Which meant she screamed. She screamed herself hoarse. She screamed herself hoarse and then screamed some ******** more. After all, she was a tiny and fragile thing that was about to be eaten. At least, that's the impression she got anyway.

"Morgan, please! Calm down, it's me, Rylen!" The dragon spoke again as it finally got the top of the cage off, tossing it away like a frisbee with a flick of its long neck. Ignoring her constant screaming, he set the cage gently back down on the ground and peeled two of the bars down to let her walk out. The ground shook a bit as he backed away from her. Suddenly the dragon was engulfed in emerald flame as its shape changed and shrank down to that of a normal man. A very familiar man. A very familiar man with a fondness for green. "See? Just...little ol' me..." he held his hands up showing he meant no harm, a pained smile as the hole in his gut was still there.

Morgan stared at Rylen in pure, unadulterated shock for several long moments. Finally, when the tension seemed like it couldn't get any tenser, she wobbled herself upward as best she could. She took one hesitant step, then two, then three, then four. This pattern continued and picked up pace until she was right in front of Rylen, her eyes containing a look of both exhaustion and awe. After an awkward moment more, she suddenly wrapped her arms tightly around him. From there she seemed to relax considerably.

"It's alright; you're alright now..." Rylen said softly as he wrapped his arms around her in return, hugging her close before he winced. "Forgive me a moment." he said, breaking the hug to form a ball of his fire in his hand and holding it to his wound. "Dragon fire." The look on his face was a mixture of pain and sadness. "We can't be burned by our own flame, healing us instead." he explained as his wound slowly shrank away.

Morgan was utterly fascinated by the thought. "Wow. Your world really is different from mine, if anyone of any species can manage that." she commented, letting out a weak bout of laughter at the thought. "Still...a dragon, huh? In all my life, I would never have guessed."
