Chairman Xiao blinked for a moment, then laughed thinly. "I apologize, perhaps I was not direct enough. I would like to keep this above-board if possible, but... Mei-Ling, if you please?"

One of the two bodyguards stepped forward and placed a small device on Kyla's desk.

"Thank you. As I was saying, I would like to keep this above-board. I am offering you an annual salary far larger than anything you could reasonably hope to be pulling in at the moment, the patronage of a major corporation with immense pull, and the right to legally use the compounds you have as good as admitted to using for the last four years. Is that so shocking an offer that you refuse on suspicion of foul play, or are you just so greedy an American that you want an even larger slice of the pie than I have held out?"

((Small device is a sound-canceler. Audio devices will record nothing but static for the time span it's activated. Real-world tech, btw. Not perfect, but pretty damned good.))

((That's sounds like a plan! But there must always be romance, at least romantic tension....it causes drama XD))

Phora looked around. "Hey, did you notice where the Pres went?" she asked, grabbing her coat. She turned to Carissa, "Don't you know where she is at like, all times..."

Carissa shifted her gaze, looking for Kyla. She put a hand to her forehead and said, "Ay caramba! Where's my bestie?" She got up as well but staggered from too much intake of alcohol before sitting back down on the stool. "No good. Ninja lady!", she said begrudgingly towards the end. "Renny-boy might know?"

"I don't think you understand, mister", Kyla said coldly. "I doubt you know anything about this city. The dangers, the competition, the scandal. Leakage and blackmailing are almost an everyday thing here. Maybe there's a reason your company doesn't thrive here. Moreover, I don't take orders from anyone." Perhaps the last part was a lie. After all, the only reason why Kyla got involved with shady figures was because of money and of course, the loyalty that was in exchange for it. "Your offer will put everyone in danger. And they won't even know it."

Chairman Xiao was... quite irritated, to put it lightly. Here he sat, having come over to the States personally to deal with this disturbance, minor though it was, doing this small little businesswoman with small little criminal connections the courtesy of a firsthand meeting, and she not only threw his most generous offer back in his face but had the gall to suggest him ignorant of the criminal element.

Though his voice remained neutral there was, perhaps, the barest hint of his anger behind the even tone. "Please do me the courtesy of using what little brain you have, President Primrose. I am a businessman who has run the second-largest conglomerate in the civilized world for almost forty years, with the headquarters located in the middle of Beijing. Were I as unfamiliar with the criminal underworld as you suggest, I would have been put out of business many years before you were born. I all but own the more civilized criminal elements in China, and many in the States. Please accept my most generous offer. It would be terrible for an accident to happen and for you not to have a parent corporation to appeal to for financial aid."

((My favs are scy-fy, adventure (like, DnD style) and good old fashioned rebelion series...))

Phora went to catch Carissa. "Maybe we should get you home first," she said, stuffing her hands in her pockets once the girl got her balance again. "Then we can look for Madame Presidente...."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:25 am

"Si, si!", When she regained her balance, Carissa said, pointing forwards in a bold and dramatic manner. "We're off to see the wizard!" She was still red from the alcohol and her gaze sure was fuzzy but she seemed full of energy, slow may her reflexes be.

"In short, have someone to suck up to. Right, right...", Kyla said almost sarcastically. It would benefit the company greatly but she sort of had this gut feeling that she would leave sooner or later if she did make that kind of decision now. She doubted she could start another company though. After all, PrimRose only succeeds because of Ren, Lucian and the others. Granted, some mishaps do happen but once the day was done, everything seemed right again. She said rather coldly, "'I'm not selling the company. Investment or affiliation are fine but I'm not taking living allowance from anyone, not going to receive orders from anyone and certainly not getting quotas"

((OOC: How about a surreal fantasy adventure like Final Fantasy or KH~? OwO ))

Chairman Xiao resisted, with difficulty, the urge to clarify that his connections would see to it that an accident happened. After all, these 'negotiations,' such as they were, were going remarkably poorly. Of course, he usually didn't deal with tiny, hick American companies making pathetic attempts to steal part of his market share, and those he did deal with had people smart enough to know who he was and how large his resource pool was. "Perhaps... I was not entirely clear. When I said I have the resources to buy this company out from under you with or without your consent, I was not being facetious. I am the head and sole owner of an international conglomerate with stakes in every industry from military-grade weapons to, yes, cosmetics. I easily employ enough people to equal the population of the United Kingdom. Your employees total... I would say, generously, one hundred. I have more lawyers than you have employees. I am saying this so that, perhaps, you will realize who is in a position of negotiating superiority here."

"You can buy out the company all you want, seeing as you're so eager to do so in the first place. In which case, why bother wasting your oh so precious time to come here? I'm not interested in your money, nor will I ever be! Really, I want nothing of you but to leave me alone"

"Though, it's quite funny to think of buying out a sole proprietorship", she commented lightly. "Our company existing in Breneville will not affect your global empire since it is only one branch in one city. Go to New York or Chicago or Las Vegas for all I care" She then stopped and narrowed her eyes saying, "What are you after really?"

Chairman Xiao considered his options for a moment. He could reveal his information, and risk inaccuracy and thus mild embarrassment, or he could bluff in the full knowledge that the bluff would be believable simply because it was true.

As usual, though, a third option would seem best. "Mei-Ling, Xiu, please leave the room."

After his bodyguards left and the door closed behind them, Xiao spoke again. "My reasons for this are two fold. First, Bamboo Cosmetics does not have a large market share in America, and our test market in this city has rather dried up thanks to your rather... aggressive marketing tactics. Second, a woman with your personality and drive is all but certainly working on something big and I would like to 'put my chips in the pot,' as the saying goes. That you attracted my attention with your theft of BCI proprietary chemicals is but a tertiary concern."

Phora face-palmed. "I'm not even taking you to your house....I'm afraid you might blow yourself up, Carissa..." she said. She sighed, and went to her bike. She threw Carissa a helmet, seeing as Phora wasn't even buzzed. She nodded to the bike as she mounted it. "Well, come on. Its not like I'm drunk as a skunk like you..."

"Ooh~ A sleep over?", Carissa asked with glee as she put on the helmet and cuddled behind Phora, lumbering slowly compared to her usual surprising and quick reactions.

((OOC: I'll reply with Kyla when I get on again. I'm a little stumped right now~ ))

Lucian noticed Kyla leave, but he took little note of it. Instead, he pulled Ren aside, trying to pick out a good target. "So...which one do you think? By the bar?" he asked, his purposes obvious to anyone who knew him well. He was currently pointing at a bubbly blond who seemed like she couldn't hold her liquor too well and was on her second martini.

Eric spotted Lucian and Ren together while he was performing and got a slightly cruel idea. He knew how the two liked to toy with women and thought it was time they got a bit of their own medicine. "Hey. I see two guys over by the bar that look like they wanna come up and dance" Lady Bugg said as she was groving to the music. It was an instrumental between verses. Lady Bugg gestured over to Lucian and Ren and two of her drag queen friends went over to escort the two men up to the stage.

Phora rolled her eyes and took off on her bike. Her apartment was down a ways, in the lower income area of the city. She didn't mind her surroundings-she was quiet and the neighbors didn't bother her. She pulled up to what looked like a two bedroom hole almost house. She pulled up in the drive and took off her helmet. Because it was dark, you couldn't see the house had been recently painted a bright yellow with blue shutters. "Come on, lets get you inside, Carissa..." she said, getting off the bike and rolling it into her small garage.

"Yeah, yeah. I can handle myself, Phora-nena", Carissa said before stumbling on a rock and nearly falling before regaining her balance. "I told you I can handle myself", she said in an effort to walk straight.
Ren looked at Lucian questioningly. He then looked at the two guys beckoning for them to come. "Uhh... Lucian?", he asked looking at Lucian and then glancing at the two 'girls', implying the question of coming with them. He had been wondering all night if they had been women since a lot of the performers really were pretty, especially the one they called 'Lady Bugg'.
"There are easy solutions to difficult problems", Kyla said simply in reply to Xiao's first reason. She meant that the marketing strategy was the easy solution to the difficult problem of competition in general. When then told about 'working on something big', Kyla chuckled and replied, "My goodness, no. You must be mistaken. However, I would find it unlikely that a person of your greatness would walk up to every small-scale localized business owner with an offer such as that. I take it we only caught your attention because we're in your test market city. Such poor luck we have then, no?"
