I want to know who classifies religions. Is there a group, or is it just one person. Are there a bunch of these old guys who pick papers out of a hat, and the religion with the name on it becomes classified? Is it based on the number of followers it has? It's rather odd when you think about it. Can you really classify religions and types of spirituality? question question question

Religions are named by the people who create them.
In some cases, such as christianity the name is chosen by the followers after the original prophet/monk/philosopher is deceased.
I'm not sure what you mean by classification. Do you mean as in Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all Abrahamic religions? That is because they all feature the God of Abraham.
Hindu is considered an Indian religion because it comes from India
Zoroastrianism is...Well you get the picture. A hodge podge mix of arbitrariness and common sense.

Yea, the person who started it generally names it. Or as she said, the followers after the leader dies.

when the religion is named, then comes a process of diversification when sub-leaders start out and differ from the main ideals or try to "fill in the gaps" of the dogma they follow, forming sects and subsects, each named either by the leaders or the followers of it.

No I don't think you can classify religion and spirituality, because each one is a belief system and different people believe in different things.
