lying awake beneath cotton sheets your face is the only one on my mind this hot and humid july night cicadas chirp but i cannot hear them
seeing us running through green grasses and skipping like little children do giggling about stupid things just because holding hands and blowing bubbles in the moonlight
forgetting isn't all that easy, i've tried to block you out of my mind, it's useless your face simply won't budge from my memory so instead i try & concentrate on the good times
can't get to bed with the weight of my thoughts i try to quiet my racing mind, but no luck giving in to the little rememberings that resurface oh, if only you were here to share in them, baby
to each his or her own pathway in life if only you still wanted to traverse along mine wishing away my days and long sleepless nights for just a bit of fairydust to twinkle in my eyes

The first two stanzas made it seem like this was going to be joyful, then the third stanza threw reality in my face. A very well written and very moving piece. Had me thinking of my own past experiences, which is what a great author can do...make someone relate to their work.
