I have been trying to find a poem I am happy with to use as my first post in this guild. I keep flipping through my book of poetry and always seem to end up pausing at this one. It is a poem I wrote about three years ago after a close friend's suicide. I hesitated to use it as I did not want to open with a darker piece. I hope it will be well received even though the theme is gloomy. Please feel free to comment. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
Crying
Tears slip down for years unshed Belying soul pain that has been Sorrow once masked now seen Staining cheeks, making eyes red
Sobs escape soundlessly at first Body trembles from holding back Despair too deep, hope does lack Voice found, soul's floodgates burst
Empty eyes caught in unfocused gaze Strength gives way, body falls to ground Courage to fight no longer to be found Mind drowning in depression's haze
Heart grows cold, not wanting to feel Soul bleeds openly, unable to heal
