If you are going to Australia for travel, why not look here for some hints for places to go?
If you have been to Oz, what advice to you give.
My advice for NSW
1) GO to Newcastle, Better beaches than Sydney, and cheaper.
2) Go to Byron.. everyone has to go there once.
3) Go to the Hunter Valley, Vineyards and Singleton Has the worlds largest working sundial.

Been to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, but not Byron Bay.
I would reccomend the NSW South Coast too. That was fun.

If you are heading to the State of Victoria when in Australia I recommend these towns:
Ballarat Bendigo Horsham Swan Hill Melbourne (naturally) Halls Gap - gateway to the amazing Grampians Dimboola and finally Dalesford.
Heading to the Northern Territory? Well then check out Darwin Alice Springs Berry Springs - The Territory Wildlife Park can be found there and is definatly worth a day visit there Mataranka - Mineral Hot Springs a wonderful place to swim and relax in.

Ok, so I'm an Aussie too, and when in Aus I recommend the following (some have already been mentioned by others, but that just goes to show how good they are!):
(I'll come back and edit if I think of more for any of these states)
QLD: Cairns Brisbane Sunshine Coast (incl. Coolum, Noosa, Alexandra Headlands, Mooloolaba (sp?) etc.) Tamborine Mountain Gold Coast Montville
(I'll come back and edit if I think of more for any of these states)
NSW: Byron Bay (my fav place EVER to holiday and the Eastern most point of Australia) Bangilow (even just for the markets, they're the BEST) Sydney Coffs Harbour
VIC: Melbourne the southern coast line
WA: Perth (I think it's the most beautiful city in Australia) Fremantle Shark Bay and Denham (Western most point of the continent) Broome (the ocean feels like a warm bath!!) York (for the historical feel) Mandurah
NT: Nhulunbuy (for the best deep sea fishing!) Darwin Elcho Island (for an authentic Aboriginal experience) Alice Springs Ayers Rock (aka Uluru)
I haven't been to the ACT or SA so I can't comment on them.
