Ok, so it's not really all that science related, but riddle are fun. ^_^ If you know of any good ones feel free to post them here so that we can all try and solve them.

A math one: you have two numbers, let's call them A and B. You know A.B = 12 and A - B = 8. Try to compute A^2 + B^2 without computing A nor B.
((If you don't find it and want the solution, PM me))

I'm stupped then. I don't think I can figure this out. sweatdrop

The_Bartner Hint: use: (A-B)^2 = ... (you know something about that normally) (written in white so you you don't have to read it, select to read, then it becomes blue) I think I got it! that hint helped a lot! a^2 + b^2 = 52(highlight it to see my answer) Did I get it?

Almost, I know which mistake you have made... (highlight it to see extra hint) 52 = 64 - 12, but the right answer is 64 + 2.12

Solution in white on the next lines: (A-B)^2 = A^2 + B^2 - 2.A.B => ( 8 )^2 = A^2 + B^2 - 2.12 <=> 64 + 2.12 = A^2 + B^2 <=> A^2 + B^2 = 88

I get it now. blaugh In that last post where you had 2.12 I thought you ment the number two decimal one two, and so I was trying to figure out how you got the decimal number. Now I see that you ment two multiplied by twelve. xp lol. Just a mix-up with notation. I usually use * to mean multiplication when I'm typing stuff on the computer instead of the .

I use the * * for RP's, when doing an action, and the most used mathematical notion is a point, but it is indeed a bit confusing, sorry...

Next riddle ! A boy and a girl each choose a number between one and five. They're both as intelligent as possible. I take a look at both numbers and tell them the numbers are different.
1 The boy says: I don't know whether my number is the biggest or smallest.
2 Then the girl says: Well, I don't know either.
3 After that the boy says: I know your number now and I know mine is smaller than yours.
4 Then the girl says: Now I know your number too.
Which number has the girl and which the boy?

Never had to use any multiplication in any RP's yet though. blaugh That's ok though. I know that from now on.
