Sylti stood on the edge of the walkway her father had built. She had remained in the swamp with her family since she was a tiny foal. And she adored her family. But her hooves itched and her wings twitched. She was restless and was stood considering breaking her parents rules. If she stepped off the path and out of the swamp what would she find? She looked back at the path behind her. If she wasn’t gone long her family need never know. Would her father and mother be very angry? After all her mother had lies outside the swamp. With a deep breath to fortify herself she takes those last few steps, off of the path and out of the swamp.
At first it was not much different, there were still trees, though the ground was much firmer, especially the further away she got from the swamp. When she cleared the trees though she stilled and gaped, her mouth hanging open as she overlooked a field, it was so bright and fresh. Colourful buds were spread throughout the grass that all swayed merrily in the gentle breeze. She lifted her front right hoof and carefully placed it on the long grass. A few tentative probes with her foot and she took her first step into the meadow. Looking up, no longer hampered by a canopy of trees she squinted at the blue blue sky, the clouds like cotton as they drifted over the overly right sun. The colours all seemed so much more vivid and overly bright I the sunshine. She looked around, her eyes looked blind, like her fathers but she could see as well as he could and in this bright light she squinted. Watching the grass rustle as small animals scampered through it.
Bending her head down to investigate one such twitching patch of grass she came face to face with a fluffy long eared little thing. Blinking at it she smiled. “Hello little friend, what might you be?” The baby bunny twitched its nose at her, not answering but sniffing at her nose as curious of her as she was of it.

Sylti lifted her head as the baby bunny scampers off into the long grass, she smiles, looking over the meadow as sun breaks through the clouds. She wondered what this place would look like when spring was in full swing. Looking back, she knew she needed to return home before she was missed. Her mother and siblings would worry, her father would be upset with her for leaving his territory without another family member. Her ears droop, she didn't like upsetting her parents, especially her father. Turning she started back the way she had come, she would have to return here to see what spring would do to this place. She would be excited to see it in its full glory.
