Eldrin made his way carefully along the forest path keeping a close eye on the red colt trotting along at his flank. Little Aengus, his first son, had a tendency to be distracted by everything.
"Come on Aengus." he urged gently as he saw the little one pause once again to watch a rustle in the brush, "Your sister is waiting. She's excited to meet you."
Earlier that morning Eldrin has sent his companion Lorcan off in search of his older daughter Aldora with a request that she watch Aengus for the day while El himself completed a task for his new lifemate. Normally he wouldn't mind including his son but he was worried about the foal being able to traverse the rougher terrain that he would be traveling.
"We're almost there he cheerily told Aengus as they rounded a final bend and the path opened up into the meadow he had agreed to meet Aldora in.
Aengus was SO EXCITED! He was going to meet another sister! Aengus thought sisters were great! He trotted along happily at his father's heels humming a song he was making up as he went. Every few minutes though his ears would catch some sound in the wintery forest around them and his head would swivel to see what it was and he'd end up tripping. He'd merely giggle and right himself then try to catch up with his ever patient father.
Aengus was just about to lose his own patience at how long it was taking to get where they would meet her when his father announced they were nearly there. As the path opened up to the meadow that was their destination he couldn't contain his excitement and kicked up his heels to zoom into the open space. Unfortunately one of his tiny hooves caught on a hidden stick and pulled his feet out from under him and sent him tumbling through the crusty January snow that covered the ground.
