The Knights Misae were a rather unorthodox family, by general reckoning, Fajra was sure. Her family had forged themselves into their own order, a blood-bound band of knights serving their causes, defending their kin, championing those in need. It was assuredly a more noble family mission than some might boast, but there was a quiet honor and strength in their calling. It was not something chosen or chosen lightly. It was not something bragged or bandied about. It was who they were, a core of values and beliefs forming principles, building blocks of character. That being said, it was dreadfully difficult to prove oneself worthy of the family name or calling when all around you were knights. One nearly longed for a damsel in distress, or some injustice to fight, if only for the change in pace and the opportunity that such an outlandish occurrence might present. But the herd was strong, Fajra's family was fierce and thus had she taken to wandering. Accomplishing a few expected tasks in the herd lands and surrounding areas was all well and good, but far too simple. It wasn't enough. It didn't say Knighthood.

At least, not to Fajra's way of thinking. And so with such thoughts brewing in her head (and restlessness in her heart), Lady Fajra Misae prepared herself, gathered some supplies, and sent her hooves to wandering. She would travel beyond her family's land, beyond the territory and the order that the Knighthood helped to forge and actively defended. She would travel until her hooves found their way to trouble, and with luck, it wouldn't take long.

"Look out adventure," Fajra murmured with a smile. "I'm on my way."

Trouble was in short supply at the moment, more's the pity. But to her fortune, Fajra had stumbled across the circuit of a great traveling Faire and Festival. Though it was not dangerous, it was certainly exciting, so she set the idea of grand tasks aside for the moment and resolved to enjoy herself. Perhaps meeting a few of the wandering peoples would be helpful in expanding her experiences, and if they didn't lead to the trouble she sought then they'd at least lead to adventure and excitement.

The avenues of the Faire were wide and teeming with bodies, a good three to four Soquili could easily traverse the paths abreast, but loaded stalls of supplies on either side compelled any casual passerby to at least move slowly. There was no striding past all of the offerings, sooner or later one would surely be entranced, either by food or drink or art or supplies. There were strangers of all shapes and sizes, as varying as their wares, calling and shouting and talking in bright, cheerful, encouraging tones. These were experienced salespersons, passionate artists, cooks and vendors selling all matter of intriguing food and drink, fondly cheering or jeering in turn. It was enough to make the young mare's head spin, and she couldn't help the wide grin on her face as she eagerly drank in her surroundings.

“Yeah, yeah I hear ya! Don’t mean I’m buying it. Go on, get, before I make a bigger ruckus!”

Huffing, the berry-coated mare behind the booth glared at the stranger as they slunk off into the crowd. Not having fallen out of the apple tree yesterday made it rather easy for her to spot a line of hooey a mile away. Turning back to the booth, "The Sweet Summer Berry" Sangria returned to her task of laying out her dyes and the grapes they were crafted from. It was her turn to run the booth this week, her cousin Hekate off doing spirit only knows what. Her crystals and charms were set up to one side of the booth and were always a popular draw for customers. Of course, it was just as likely the customer was there to flirt with Heka then buy anything, but traffic was traffic.

Peering up at the sky, the mare judged the placement of the sun with a noncommittal hum. Pomona should be wandering through soon to bring berries for Sangria to turn into dyes and other assorted delights. She had a few saplings in the back of the booth for the Angeni, who could get a rainforest to grow in the desert, to try her hand at. It was coming up on time for her to plant her fall harvest, and those lovely fig and cranberry trees would be a fantastic addition, and Sangria could use them to make different colored dyes. She herself wasn’t too talented with the green things, able to manage her small section of grape vines with minimal difficulty. Anything more was just too much work, especially with Hekate being the murderer of anything and everything flora.

She was expecting her cousin’s crystal supplier, Kailash, to stop by as well. He’d promised her some rare agates on his last visit, and he was the kind to take at his word. She’d hand him off some of the sweeter grapes as a trade, the stallion is a huge fan of fruit. He also had a slight crush on Pomana, but he’d never bring her cousin crystals and other gems if Sangria ratted him out. So, she kept her mouth shut and teased the stallion when he flushed and sputtered around her. Mona was a sweet mare, but oblivious as can be. Someone, hopefully Kailash himself, would have to spell it out for her before she ever figured out the stallion had feelings for her.

The crowds began to pick up, chattering increasing in volume and mixing with the calls of her fellow vendors. Shaking her head, the mare decided if she wanted to make some deals, she’d had better join them.

“Freshly picked grapes! Hand-crafted dyes and charms! Come find the crystals you’ve been looking for!”

Though it was little more than a mild scuffle, Fajra had found herself a spot of trouble to tide her over upon arriving at the Faire. Bejeweled though she was, her coin for buying and trading was safely stashed beneath her scarf, not visible to passersby. The circlet on her hind leg and the jeweled dagger were quite clear, and someone must have thought it was more for show than use because they'd tried to take it. A smooth cut-purse the individual was not, so Fajra had caught them and whistled over one of the Faire Security Watch Birds to take matters over.

Just as she was turning her back on them with a few cheerful words for Terhi, the hawk in question, her attention was caught by the loud dismissing tones of a berry coloured mare a few booths down the avenue. There was a stallion looking quite chastised as he slunk into the crowd, and Fajra glanced between the two parties for a moment, feeling amusement as she wondered just exactly what she'd missed. Whatever it was, the stranger had called him out on it on the spot, and she had to admit she admired that sort of spark.

'Cause an even bigger ruckus?' Fajra wondered with amusement, moving over to check the offerings before the hawker began extolling the virtue of her wares. 'Quite a threat! I'd be scared too... But it seems to me that he deserved what he got. She doesn't seem like the sort to start something over nothing.'

"Good afternoon," Fajra offered a greeting with a smile and a quick bob of her head. "I don't know much about crystals but I'd be delighted to learn? Mostly I admit my attention was caught by how you handled yourself... Are there many swindlers in this neck of the woods?"

She cast a quick glance around the Faire, teeming with activity though it was, and gave a conciliatory flick of her ears. "I suppose it can't be helped... It's quite busy!"
