Hide and Seek!

Two of the Thain's new cubs have gone missing! ...sort of. Their youngest sister, Hateya, has been searching for them for a while now and isn't able to find them! She'd always been a better hider than a seeker, but the sun will be going down soon and mom will want them back at the den. Can you help Hateya find her siblings so they don't get in trouble?

How to Find a Cub

1. You have to successfully roll 2 numbers to find a cub. The first number you need will allow your SoA to pick up a trail, a scent, something that alerts them to which direction the cub has gone. The second number will allow your SoA to find the hidden cub.

2. You may only roll one 12-sided die at a time. You must wait 1 hour before posting again. It is okay to post even if no one else has replied as long as you've waited 1 hour. If you violate the 1 hour limit you will be disqualified from winning. Please check the time stamp at the top of your post before posting!

3. When you match a number, tag me so I can keep track of who rolled what number when.

4. You can only find the cub that you roll both numbers in order for. For example, if you roll the first number for the male cub, then the second number for the female cub, you have to keep rolling until you either find the male cub, or roll the first number for the female cub, in which case you'll need to roll the second number again to find her.

5. If you find a cub you don't want, you can gift the cub to another person playing the game and continue to roll for the cub you want. You are not guaranteed to find the cub you want, though, so keep that in mind! Please make sure the person you are gifting the cub to wants the cub.

6. You don't need to have a Suzat lion to play! They are very accepting of wandering rogues so long as they're peaceful. Any rogue of any species can join in the hunt.

7. If any of this is confusing just ask me to clarify.

About the Family

These cubs have been born to the Thain, the ruler of the Suzat. They hold no royal rank nor title and will grow up with the ability to pick any role they choose. They must remain in the pride unless it disbands, at which point they are free to go wherever you'd like them to. The exception is that they can travel to live in any allied pride. Please ask me for a list of allied prides if you're interested in having them leave. Ukufana would pick a traditional Zulu name for her children as is the way of the Bonelands. The cubs were colored by Fairy Snails.

Dad: Arkani is the ruler of the Suzat pride. He is jovial and kind and cares a lot about his homeland. He is approachable and loving and will dote on his children with all the love a father can give. He may be absent as his Thain duties take up much of his time, but when the cubs are very young he'll make a point to spend as much time with them as he can.


















Mom: Ukufana joined the Suzat after leaving her homeland of the Bonelands behind. She has Firekin heritage and is larger than Arkani which is always a subject of amusement for the Hobbits in the pride. She is enthusiastic and curious and always loves a good adventure, though she is quite content with her life in the pride. A bit shy until you get to know her, Ukufana will encourage her children to be curious and adventurous. If they aren't she'll still love them, of course!

















Sister: Hateya is the youngest of the bunch. She's curious like mom and has a huge heart like dad. She's small, taking after her Hobbit side of the family, but has the blood of the Firekin in her, making her a rambunctious little ball of fur. She loves to wrestle and play and has boundless energy, though she's always careful not to play too rough with her siblings.

"Nn...oh no....nnngk...Mom's gonna be maaaad..."

A little cub pushed her way through some particularly stubborn bushes as she searched, her nose twitching as she tried to sniff the ground. Nothing. No one had been here recently except maybe a bird, and that had been a while ago. She heaved a little sigh and wiggled her way out of the low branches, leaves sticking out of her little tuft of a mane. She lifted a paw to try to rid herself of them, only to topple over. She was still getting the hang of balance and lifting one paw off the ground like that made it hard.

"Oh noooo," she moaned, deciding the ground was the best place for her now. Her little paws were throbbing from walking for so long. "Where could they be?"

Hateya finally lifted her head, looking around pitifully for someone to help. There were plenty of lions walking around, surely someone would notice her just laying there. Right?

"Hi!" she called out to anyone passing by. "Um. My brother and sister are...really good hiders. I can't find them! I've been looking for eeeeever! Could you maybe help me look? I'm so tired and Mom said to be home by sundown." She gave a pitiful look to anyone passing by, hopeful that her pouty face was better than her seeking skills.  

[Uta]

((Boy oh boy -- I need to get Ketaki here certed, but resident farmer here to help! Hope it's open/okay to roll!))

Golden ears swiveled as she heard a voice call out for help. She noticed the little black and yellow cub lying on the ground, looking more than a little haggard. Obviously, the young cub wasn't in any physical harm or danger, but Ketaki couldn't simply leave her there. Especially when it sounded as if she were missing her siblings!

"I'm sure they couldn't have gotten far," she reassured the young cub with a small smile. "I'm quite certain we can scare them up." It had been some time since she'd played the cubhood games, but she remembered having to hide in the grasslands of the roguelands. Her mother had never taken much of an interest in her, so she'd entertained herself and played with the flowers and plants while alone. Surely, she could help the little one find her siblings... because while she remembered the game hide-and-seek, she also remembered her mother's ire when she wasn't where she was meant to be!

Surely, she could spare the little one such a fate. Lifting her nose to the wind, she tried to find the scent, which was more than a little elusive. Hmm. "Perhaps they're over here?" She took a few steps away from where Hateya was settled, checking out some taller grasses.  

[Uta]

Ketaki picked her way over to the tall grasses, hopeful that she'd spot a ball of fur, or perhaps hear a giggle of the ones doing their best to hide. Unfortunately, she didn't find much of anything besides the usual grasses and bugs that made them their home.

Well, she doubted they'd be so near. Perhaps it had been silly of her to think they had taken an obvious position. "Perhaps somewhere a bit farther along?" So it was, she moved over to a few bushes. It occurred to her that the little cubs might be better at hiding than she was giving them credit for -- but then, the pride had plenty of suitable hiding spots.

"Anyone here?" She asked, poking her head into the bushes to give a look. She probably looked ridiculous but even if she didn't find a cub, she might at least take stock of the health of the plant in question.  

[Uta]

Well, they weren't in the neighboring tall grasses, and they certainly weren't in any of the nearby foliage. Ketaki flicked her tail thoughtfully and decided to check a bit farther along. She kept her eyes out for any flash of color, or any familiar scent, but wherever they had gone, the two cubs had hid themselves well.

If she were a cub playing such a game, part of her wondered where she might hide? Had they taken off running from their starting point, or had they snuck around while her sister was looking? There were plenty of places a small one might find themselves. There was a small ditch in the earth, and Ketaki peeked in it as she passed -- perhaps some sign might clue her in that she was going the right direction?

Oh.

Though she hadn't expected to find much, she thought she caught sight of a small imprint on the soft earth. It was clearly a paw print, but whether it came from one of the hiding cubs during their game, or another time, was hard to say. Still, Ketaki was intrigued and it was a potential lead. Though she sniffed at the ground in hopes of finding a trail, there was very little to go off of.

So, once again, the white lioness picked her way forward. Now, where could a cub have gotten off to? Perhaps hiding up in a tree? There were a few she could certainly check. Part of her wondered if more help wouldn't be needed to find the rascals before dark -- but there was time yet.

Hateya lifted her head as a lioness heard her plea and approached, offering her help.

"Oh, thank you!" she said as she got to her paws, throbbing though they were, and trotted after the larger lioness as she began to look.

"Yeah, I've checked there. There too," she said with a glum tone of voice as Ketaki poked her nose into this bit of grass or behind that bush. Oh, Mom was going to be so upset! She glanced up at the sky, watching the sun slowly sink towards the mountain tops that bordered the pride to the west, and nearly walked into Ketaki's hind leg as the lioness stopped.

"Oh! Did you find something?' she asked hopefully, peering around her to see the small pawprint in the dirt. "Wow! You did! You're really good at this," Hateya said, watching the white lioness as she continued to move forward, this time in the direction the paw print had pointed in. Maybe they'd stumble across one of her siblings before long!

Ketaki didn't mind that she had company, though she did offer a small chuckle at the compliment. "Well, it's not much, but it's a start! How long have you been looking?" She asked idly, continuing her search. There were a few stones stacked to the side, of no consequence to a full-grown lion or lioness.... but perhaps a interesting place to hide for a little cub? Unfortunately, the paw prints she had spotted were quick to fade, leaving her guessing that one or both stayed the course in the direction she had taken.

While she didn't spot anything around the small stack of stones, once again, she caught sight of another paw print. She leaned down to sniff at the stones and the print, hoping to pick up a clean trail, but was once again left disappointed. Unfortunately, the tracks lead in the opposite direction she had come -- did she dare follow?

Her tail flicked thoughtfully and she gave a small smile. "Well, there's still sun in the sky yet. Perhaps they're closer to the dens? Maybe they ran back and took to hiding in one."  

[Uta]

This game of hide and seek was certainly a challenge! Every step she took, Ketaki tried to catch sight of something small. Were they even in the same Farthing? Honestly, she had half a mind to ask where exactly the little cubs game had begun -- then perhaps she'd have a better idea. She'd hate for the little ones to get in trouble.

Surely, they had to be around here somewhere. At each tree, the lion paused to peek up into the foliage, hoping for a sign. The dens were coming into view, and she only wondered which one they might have chosen to hide in -- if they were there at all.
