While to many people, Remiel was seen as someone to fear because he has what appear like eyes where most would not have them. However, he only would hurt others if it was to protect those he cared about, including one particular mare. Which speaking of which, he looked back with his black orbs to see how she was doing. He felt the familiar chill, reminding him of the snow that was falling down quite heavily. When the two of them had set out, he had not planned for them to be caught in what was becoming a blizzard. His visibility was growing worse, other than his charge behind him. He knew they needed to seek shelter, before they froze to death. He had no plans to let that happen to the beautiful lady behind him.

"We need to find some kind of cave immediately, or we may not make it back home in one piece. I will not let you freeze to death, to you hear me?"he asked the mare with determination in his voice. His black beady eyes went back to searching through the snow, despite the wind trying to add to their walk. He didn't care, there had to be something, anything they could take cover in. That is when he spotted an outline of a cave up ahead and he practically whinnied in his relief. He looked back to the one he protected, before motioning to it.

Vaella Stark pulled her cape tighter around her shoulders, her wings kept up a steady thrum like a hummingbirds to keep her wing from accumulating ice. The storm had been so sudden on their way back to Winterfell that they had not been able to seek shelter immediately. Though they hadn't been out in the blizard long, she could feel the frost traking to take root on the thinner membranes of her wing and in her hair and fur.

She pulled the fur up on her neck higher and her knight Remiel spoke. "We'll find something soon," she said more confidentally than she felt. The area they were in though usually familiar to her was covered by the blinding snow. She couldn't see more than a few feet in front of her.

It was not the first time she wished she'd inherited her father's paws, it would make this much easier. She kept close to her knight as he led the way, his confidence and determination blazing from him like an aura.

"I have faith in you, Ser Remiel." She spoke firmly next to him, careful that her words did not disappear in the wind.

The trudged through the snow as it fell thicker and faster. She heard him speak, but his words were lost to the wind. Pushing forward to come up beside him, she saw him motion toward a vague something in the distance. She looked forward to see the outline of a cave. Relief flooded her body as she paused there for a moment. Knowing that her words would be lost to the wind, she bumped his shoulder to let him know that she understood they were almost to shelter.

Remiel knew this was usually a way they knew by heart, but it was amazing how much one winter storm can throw off your sense of direction. He knew his cloven hooves were not the best for this kind of weather, not like having some kind of paws would, but he would make due for the time being. He knew it was worse for Vaella, who had her delicate wings to consider. The thought of them freezing and and...no, he couldn't think of that. He knew a warm place to lay low was close, they would just need to get to it. Feeling the light bump of his shoulder, he turned to her. He nodded softly, letting her know that he understood what she meant.

"Keep close...if you can, Lady Vaella,"he told her as loud as he could. He knew the wind of the storm would probably swallow most of it, but he felt she would understand. Once he felt they did not have anymore time to lose, he began the trek towards the outline that seemed to glow like a beacon only for the two of them. If there was ever a time he wished he had a fluffy tail or powerful wings to drape over her, now was the time. All he could do is lead the way and hope he could warm her within the sanctuary of the cave. Yes, they could do this, he had to believe that. He marched on, willing the cave closer as he did.

Vaella Stark followed along in Remiel's footsteps. It made the trek somewhat easier, but his footprints filled in with snow almost as soon as he made them. She hadn't seen a storm this bad in a long while. Maybe it was true about winter. She'd called out to Remiel that she would follow him, but she couldn't even hear herself say the words in the cacophony of sound the storm made. Her wings kept up their low thrum as they moved clcoser and closer to hopeful safety. She knew that Remiel would insist on checkng out the cave thoroughly before they went in even though she hated the idea of waiting a moment longer.

She pulled her cloak up over her face to cover her mouth and nose, the wind was blowing so hard it made it difficult for her to cather her breath. Everything looks so different and strange, like it was a whole other world. All the landmarks were buried she knew, if you could even see the landmarks--which you couldn't. She could barely see Remiel in this snow.

Staying as close as she could she tried to share some of his heat, willing her frozen wings to keep on beating.

The cave was close now, she could see the small opening offering welcome from the storm. It was hard to stay back and wait, but she did. Pushing into his shoulder again, she offered Remiel her blade as she spoke. "Take it, for luck." She hoped the words made it the few inches to him, but she wasn't sure. She pulled out her other blade and waited on his confirmation of the all clear.

Remiel would check near him every so often, just to make sure he hadn't lost her. The thought of her getting swallowed up by this storm sent a horrified shiver running through him. It wasn't just that he was her guard either, he always had a great fondness for Vaella. He could stare into those silver orbs of light all day, but that would have to wait until later. Knowing that every second they were out here meant her wings were more in danger, made him focus on the cave once more and making sure Vaella stayed close. He saw her mouth move, but he couldn't completely make out what she had said, though thought it was something about follow. Okay, he was going to take it as she would follow him, that seemed a reasonable assumption to make.

"Just a little further,"he replied back. He tried to raise his voice, hoping she would hear it over all the commotion of the storm. The stallion continued to trudge forward, surprised how bad this storm seemed to be. He didn't remember such a vicious blizzard like this before, even if they had some decent sized snow storms in the past. As he felt Vaella scoot closer, he tried to shield her from the wind with his bigger form, as best as he could. He hoped his body heat was rubbing off on her, knowing she needed it more than he did. His black eyes were holding tight to the outline, as they got closer and closer to it. He knew it would not be long now, they should be there before they knew it.

As they got to the doorway of the cave, he felt the push of his shoulder. He turned his head to look at her, seeing her offer him one of her blades. He took it with a grateful nod of his head, hoping he wasn't going to need to actually use it. However, it was appreciated all the same, so he secured the handle in his mouth, before marching forward. He would make sure he was quick and through in making sure this cave was uninhabited. He allowed his eyes to adjust to the darkness, creeping carefully forward and his senses on the alert. He didn't hear or see anything, so he went back to the entrance of the cave, for Vaella.

"All clear,"he told her.

Vaella's heart soared when Remiel spoke. It wasn't that she could hear the words, but that she could see the relief etched in ever line of his body. The cave was clear, they'd found safety to wait out the storm. Carefully, she went past him into the cave. It was bitter cold, not much better than outside but at least there was no driving wind or snow.

As her eyes adjusted to the darkness she looked around to see what resources they had. Water wouldn't be a problem with all that snow, but food would be. All she had was a two or three dried strips of jerked meat tucked in the pocket of her cape along with two very crumbly oat cakes. Enough for a small snack, but not enough to help them sustain themselves in somewhere this cold.

Her wings were finally able to slow down some. The relief of it was luxurious. She hadn't realized how tired she was of fluttering them before now, all she had thought about was making it to safety. It hadn't been a choice of "can I do this" but rather a hard "I have to do this to keep going."

In the corner of the small cave there was a pile of wood and some rubbish like leaves to help start a fire. Someone had obviously sheltered in here before. Good, it made things easier for them. That was the first thing to do was start a fire.

"We need to start a fire Remiel," without realizing it she left off the title of Sir. "We need to get warm. I have only a little food though." She looked around her, "What else can we do to make this cave bearable for us in the storm?"

Snow was already piling near the entrance. She had mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, if it kept piling up it would provide an excellent wind block and give them extra warmth. On the other hand, it would likely close off the entrance of the cave which could be dangerous if the snow piled to thick or Gods forbide there was a landslide or snowslide.

She looked askance at him, he anxiety tapering down when she spoke to him. "What do we do now?"

Remiel waited at the entrance, until Vaella had safely made it into the cave. He had the blade handle still safely in his mouth, having been able to speak around it carefully. Once she was inside, he followed her and placed her blade safely back in its sheath from where it had come on one of her legs. When he lifted his head back up, he gave a glance at her wings, to check on them. They looked okay to him, so he hoped they were warming up and there was no damage from the icy cold. Then came mention of a fire, he nodded his head, they would need to get some warmth in this cave immediately. Even if they were sheltered from the winds and snow, it still was freezing in here. When she mentioned food, he allowed a soft frown come to his lips. That would need to be figured out, if the storm lasted too long.

"If we are lucky, then this storm will be a short one. Then we can hopefully head for home or find something to eat. For now, the fire is our first priority, so we can get ourselves thawed out. Food we will hold off on worrying about, at least for no...hey, did you just call me Remiel?"he asked, it having just dawned on him that she had not used his title of 'sir' when she had addressed him. It wasn't that he minded, it just threw him off for a moment, when it was not something she usually did...if at all. He looked around the cave for something they could use to start the fire. He motioned over to the pile, giving a look to look for a starter, so they could work on the fire.

"We take things one step at a time, my Lady. For now, see if you can find something to light the kindling with, while I work on getting a good pile,"he suggested. He walked over to the wood and began to separate some of it, to start crossing some to make a decent fire. He also made sure it was mixed with some of the leaves and things, to make it a strong fire.

Involuntarily, her body gave a little shudder when he put the blade back in it's sheath. For a moment, she was completely distracted from what he was saying. It took a moment for her to tune back in, then half way through a sentence he stopped. He had the most confused look on his face when he said that she'd called him Remiel and not Sir Remiel.

Vaella felt heat flood her face as she realized, that he was right. She had just called him Remiel. She wasn't sure what to say to that, but she could feel heat flushing her face so she looked down and slightly away. "I...didn't realize," she felt her cheeks burn hotter. It had felt so natural that she had not realized what she said.

"Maybe it's better, while we're stuck here..." She tried to lift her head up and act normal."If I just called you....Remiel and you called me Vaella."

She nodded along with him. She really hoped the storm wouldn't last long, but storms like this could last for hours or days.

She watched as he put together the burn pile, at a loss for words with her cheeks almost burning as hot as the flames soon would

Remiel had noticed her body shivered a bit when he placed her other blade back, but had just thought it was the cold. After all, they hadn't gotten a fire started yet, so it made pretty good sense to him. He looked to her as she explained she hadn't realized she had done that, meaning dropping the title when she had spoken to him. Then came the suggestion they just stick to their names while they were stuck here and his own cheeks flushed softly. The advice made a lot of sense to him, even if he would have to stop himself from using her own title. Clearing his throat, he busied himself again with the base for the fire. His heart was hammering in his chest as he thought of how he knew she would just be calling him Remiel for the time being. It had sounded like music to his ears to hear it from her lips.

"So..umm...did you find anything to ummm...start the fire, La..Vaella?"he asked, pawing at the ground a second with his hoof nervously. He was glad he managed to catch himself before calling her Lady Vaella there. Not to mention, he was feeling warm at the moment, even without starting the fire yet. Act natural, he told himself, trying to stand straight as he looked over to her.

When he spoke her name, another shiver ran through her body. She didnt' know why, nothing like this had ever happened before. But there was emoething about the way he said her name that just....made a bright warm spot inthe pit of her belly.

He looked a little baffled, and a little akward when she suggested it. She was almost to the point of saying it was a mistake, when she saw the flush on his face. Maybe it wasn't a bad thing after all? How could it be with the way he said her name?

"Uhm," for a moment she struggled and looked around. "We could strike my blades together and get a spark?" She suggested. Vaella took the blades out and held one in her mouth. With her hoof, she struck the other one as though she was sharpening it, hoping to get a spark.

Remiel had seen the second shiver from her, still thinking maybe it was too cold for her still. That meant getting this fire started was more important than ever, he would not let her freeze to death in this cave. The thought of it happening sent a tremor through his own body, hopefully not one she saw. It wasn't because he was cold, it was the thought of losing her because of a snow storm. She was an incredible mare and he didn't want to have to imagine life without her. It sent a sick feeling into his stomach, but he tried to push that aside, telling himself he wouldn't let it happen. Not to mention, she was one of the strongest Soquili he knew.

"Hmm, oh yes, your blades may give us the spark we need. At least it is worth a try,"he responded. He didn't know that was not the only spark that was starting. For now, he watched as the friction seemed to do what was needed, as a fire began to spark. He laid down near the fire, more tired than he had realized he had been. He yawned as he stoked the fire, closing his eyes, just for a minute, he told himself. Yes, might as well, while the fire began to get a little stronger and knowing they might be stuck in here for awhile.

"If you need to lay down yourself, Vaella, please feel free. I am sure our trek through the snow tired you out too,"he told her, without opening his eyes.

The fire sparked and finally started to grow. Remiel looked tired, laying there. His voice sounded sleepy. and his eyes were closed. Vaella laid down a foot or two from him, careful of all her limbs as she tucked herself down. "Yes, the storm was exhausting..." She couldn't stifle the yawn that came

The fire grew by the minute as Vaella fell into a slight stupor. She was still so cold though, she dreamed idly of her wings beginning to crystalize. There was a bright star though giving off a warming light and she moved closer to it. It was a beacon to her.

Without knowing, she moved closer to Remiel and nested into the warmth of his fur with her head tucked beside his.

In her dreams, she was warm.

Remiel opened one eye when he heard her own yawn, seeing she had laid a little bit from him. It was clear the walk had tired her out too, all the snow had made for quite a trek, one they could usually handle. He could see her starting to doze off, so figured that she needed the sleep as much as he did. So he closed the eye he had opened and began to drift off himself. He dreamed of growing wings and covering Vaella with one of them, like a warm blanket. In the dream, he made sure to be careful of her own fragile wings, but he wanted to make sure she was safe.

He woke one time during the night, feeling something against his side. When he opened his eyes, he saw it was Vaella, curled gently against him. He could feel her head next to his and he smiled, his hearts fluttering in his chest. He gently tucked his head over her own, making sure not to wake her as he did so. Hopefully, they both would get the sleep they needed, since they had no idea how long they would be here. There was no telling what the next day or any day after that may bring, but for now, they were safe with one another. He allowed his eyes to close once more, before he was out like a light. The two of them would weather this storm together, he thought as he drifted off himself.
