"Surely you don't mean that," came a voice. Nisina had been returning form a light evening stroll about the weyrbowl when she'd caught wind of Felestia's words. The goldrider knew the woman well--they'd both been in Western Weyr long enough, and their golds were now well-past-retired. Well, at least Hezuithoth was! Though Nisina was only 92 turns young, and still helped out part-time in the Queen's Wing, she knew that they weren't quite as spry as they once were. Every Turn seemed to make things just a little worse.
"Our generation was just as impertinent as the new lads and lasses. Surely, you're forgetting the escapades we all used to get into." While she hadn't been weyrbred, and only arrived at Western as a Journeyman at turn 24, she was certain her adventures as a hold brat in Black Sands Hold were as similar as what might be found here. "Though," she added, "I do think some sense of duty needs to be fed to some of the men and women out there who haven't yet returned to the Weyr." Forget the young children, it were the many riders that continued galavanting about Pern that irked Nisina.
She had tried to return to her old craft after Impressing Hezuithoth, but the queen needed to be among her own kind. And that was well before Thread ever came back!
Still, the queen rider did give a bow of greeting to both Quineth and Felestia--it was only polite, after all.
