The morning, as he remembered, started off like any other day filled with routine and promise. As per his mother's request, the laid-back stallion would rise from the grotto, stretching in earnest, then proceed outward letting the sun soak in his drying scales. For Bahamas, it wasn't a mere problem to rise with the sun, rather his brother was a whole different perception. Such a comparison resulted in protest, followed by an unlikely groan before he finally made his way down to the ebb and flow of the ocean herself. Immediately, Bahamas joined his mother: Kasumi digging deep within sand as it caved around his hooves. At times in his brother's dismay, Bahamas found placid joy just digging like Kasumi hoping to see a glittering message just out of his reach.
Somehow, the day seemed different now that he stood solitary upon the beach looking out over the endless trails of waves greeting him. No trace of Kasumi or his brother could be fathomed as he stood motionless, cascading locks of his long windswept mane trailing alongside him. Breathing in the ocean's salty aroma he pondered momentarily where either could have gone.
Then his hooves turned, as did his posture as they carried his lucid form back toward the grotto. Craning his neck downward he noticed two sets of hoof prints going in separate directions. One obviously was larger indicating that Kasumi had ventured off somewhere. His guess settled on her taking their usual findings into town where she traded for treats and other things of interest. Bahamas quite understood her motives, more so than his brother that was definitely for sure.
Caribbean, on the other hand, was known to just disperse giving no sense of direction or warning merely wanding off where his heart carried him.
Once both realizations were within Bahamas favor, he opted to strike on out on his own. A simple exploration within the proximity of the grotto in case he was called for. Definitely, a refreshing change now that he was grown into that tail that seemed so long you'd tangle your hooves up and go into a rolling ball down the beachfront. Chucking to himself with amusement the quieter brother remembered his sibling's ambition of reaching the ocean before himself. It never ended well that Bahamas will always tell you. Sure, he tripped over his finned tail a few times, but he learned precision and balance faster then Cari.
Pausing, he stopped short sniffing the air. The unknown filled his senses leaving a tingle slowly creeping upward, till it lingered around his neck. Ears flickering back and forth he derived something was watching him intently. Possibly, a predator had caught the scent of his family leaving the water hued nixie to stand protectively in his stance. Whatever was near his general location seriously, without a doubt gave him shivers that raced all over his scaled body. Snorting, he pawed the ground standing quite rigid as he waited for this unknown adversary to make its presence known.

Narrowed pupils followed the alert Nixie causing a strange satisfaction to swell within. It wasn't every day you encounter such a nice specimen direct from the place you considered a niche in life. Twins to be exact from the loins of a queen that didn't deserve them. She seethed in hatred then composed herself immediately. Honestly, he'd be a gullible little morsel fetching her anything she'd desire. Moving slowly she pulled herself over the sand with a moan then wiped a tentacle over her forehead in exasperation, "Please, I need help" she cried with miserable eyes. "Young stallion, please I need water.... please".
It would work like a gem for no one could resist such a lovely creature such as herself.
Her past swirled around those delusional stallions bending over backward bringing her pearls, gems, treasures, anything she desired. Rightly so in her mesmerizing eyes, they should give her those desires for she is the Queen. Not that water wretch that birthed those boys, it should have been Queen Kidul.
Then things just exploded into epic proportions including the island. So much death, so much confusion, so much ... water. Granted she was aquatic, born of the great blue herself, but it was a torrential downpour all in one. She spent days, evenings, weeks, just swimming till her tentacles finally grabbed onto a floating tree that exited with the storm. Hanging on tightly, closing her eyes, she drifted for ages till the beach became her savior. Then she dragged herself inland till the water began drying rapidly as the sun suckled out the moisture in her aquatic form. Panting heavily, she sought out shade with a small pool of water her tentacles lovingly curled within till she drifted off into a deep sleep.
Hours later she opened her tired orbs to movement past the cooling spot.
Mare, stallion, both moving down toward the beachfront. Turning her head slowly she watched them in curiosity as another stallion crept out of a grotto, into the wooded area nearby. "Interesting" she queried aloud softly leaving herself open to contemplate what her eyes soaked in. Still morning, she had time to observe their ritual without drying out from the sun's greedy rays.
Somehow, she dozed off again from exhaustion.
Opening her eyes again she noted the water hole she'd found her way into was dried up. The sun above moved into position lapping up any moisture not attached to the ocean. This included Queen Kidul slowly losing what little mannerism she possessed. "How did I fall asleep?" she groaned, ""Damn I'm screwed right now... I'm...". Then she paused for that little Stallion must have heard her dilemma. Certainly, this was embarrassing, to say the least, but it worked deeply in her favor.
"Please, I need help" she cried with miserable eyes. "Young stallion, please I need water.... please".
Now she waited to see just how he'd respond.
