Kelos stood before his pride for the first time in this life. Mzia, the Ksana was hidden away, protected by Devaraja. The pride needed to be seen as strong in these times, but Mzia safety was still important. She was still growing and had a lot to learn.
The meeting today was about the strange occurrences outside the pride. Voices that came from no where, days and days of darkness. Chaos was flooding the land. Kelos knew that outside the pride was dangerous. It was unpredictable what would happen to them out there. It was his choice to make though. Order the pride to remain within their borders or allow groups to go out and find more information about what is happening in the world. Though the choice was his to make, he did want input of the residents of Anvesana Caritra.
“My friends and family,” he spoke, his voice still young and shaky. “Are world is changing and we have a choice to make. Currently our pride is safe, but the seekers have reported about the oddities that are happening around us. It is dangerous more then ever to leave our pride.”
He glanced around. The Rahasya told him time and time again about how his or Mzia’s actions would have consequences. All he wanted to do was make the right one for the pride.
“After talking with Mzia and the Rahasya I have decided that I need more input. If we leave the pride, my plan is to go in groups. Not just seekers and recruiters go, but anyone who is able and willing to leave the pride. Traveling in numbers will make sure we travel safely.” Kelos took a deep breath in. Talking to the pride was more exhausting then he thought it would be. “But we could also remain in the pride and just let a couple seekers go out. The outings will be shorter though. I do not want to lose anyone.”
“I would like to open the discussion to you. What are your thoughts? What would you like to do?” Kelos asked.

![User Image](https://imgur.com/fMXHGuC.png) Yaalini slid along the edges of the crowd gathered to hear their Nayaka speak. Her lamplight eyes flickered from face to face, searching and alert, striving to exemplify the tenets she had learned up to this point. She felt she was doing well, too - save for every now and again, when her gaze would flick upwards, shining with pride. The lioness had her own opinions about the path that the pride should take through this turmoil, of course, but she had made that known along with the rest of the Rahasya.
The long and short of it was that they were a pride of knowledge, and that they as a whole sought the truth. So it was before, and so it should be now. She was all for their careful dissemination into the lands outside, Seekers at the head, to see what news may be found about the chaos that seemed to run rampant. What change could be large enough that they could shape the cycles of day and night? What kind of catastrophe could crack the sky? These were the kind of questions that made history. Whether the cause of these events was large or small, the Anvesana needed to go out and bring back enough information to maintain a proper record of it.
But she knew too that there were others who may not share her thoughts. The lioness' pale tail twitched, glancing briefly at the first to speak up in response. A small frown twitched at the corners of her muzzle before both gaze and paws moved on. At least for the moment, she was content to watch the discussion among those gathered; curious, in spite of herself, to see just what manner of thoughts happened to collect amidst her pride in the middle of all this strangeness.

![User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.](https://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/s.gif) Emygdi was late to the gathering but she failed to feel shame for it. Her job, first and foremost, was to make sure that their borders were secure and that at all times their pride members were safe. If it meant she missed an introduction or a pride announcement in order to ensure that no one came to harm on her watch, well, it was just a trade that she was willing to make. She had not been appointed to head guard for nothing. Besides, they were a pride of knowledge - the details could be recounted later from any number of pride members if she missed something important.
As she strolled up upon the group, mostly satisfied with the guards they had in place, she let her ears turn toward the context of the conversation. It seemed, from first impression, that they were trying to decide how to continue their excursions. Anxiety plucked at her heartstrings as she realized she could not be with every pride member as they went out into this suddenly crazy world but she, too, knew that it would be a betrayal of their purpose if they were to shut down their borders entirely for fear of danger. Most of their greatest stories had elements of death and disaster; she did not wish that upon any of their pride members but the truth was that it was simply an expected reality of mortal existence. She didn't have to like it, though.
Em was slowly making her way to the front of the crowd when she heard others speaking, claiming they should send a variety of talents, and immediately alarms ran through her mind. She pushed forward with a purpose so that she might look upon Kelos directly and be seen.
"I disagree," she let her voice rise, clear and pointed, "I think our groups should be more carefully planned. We must continue our collection of knowledge for the sake of the pride but we don't know what else is beyond our borders. I propose we send a guard to every two bodies at a minimum and only our most capable pride members should be allowed to leave. Knowledge is important but it is worthless if it does not make it back to our pride."
Her head rose and her jowls clenched as she finished her words. She would not budge from this opinion. If she could not be there to protect their pride members as they ventured forward then the most she could do was make sure they were as protected as possible beyond her realm.
Fairy Snails So sorry for the delay on this - I meant to respond to it forever ago and Tori just reminded me it was here!

The white-striped lioness sat as she was approached, the pale white of her spine ramrod save for its gently curling tip. Her gaze settled on the green-maned lion that had spoken to her, considering him: though she recognized the hearty build of one of their stoneworkers, a name escaped her. The scrunch of a brow beneath pale mane betrayed the way Yaalini felt about that. It was her job, after all, to know better.
Her attention on him faded, however, as her brother spoke. In his wake, the pride made itself known. The faintest smile, content with the way their Nayaka handled himself, crept into Yaalini's expression.
That smile only grew with Pinja's suggestion, which she acknowledged with a nod and wink - only to find her ears lifting at words just past him. Ah, their head guard. Her fears were reasonable, certainly, however... "I also see the wisdom in smaller scouting parties. Easier to get around, for one. Less likely to be seen by others as a threatening force, for another.
"But a guard to every two bodies seems a rather ambitious figure, unless we similarly restrict the size of the parties themselves." Mouth drawing to one side, Yaalini rubbed a paw against her jaw - for the moment, at least, seeming lost in thought. Her ears pressed against her skull, lingering a moment before flipping back towards Emygdi. "Honestly, that may not be a bad idea. One guard, as you insist - one familiar with the rogue lands, such as our recruiters and seekers - and one other, as our stoneworker here has suggested. Unusual? Yes, certainly. But these are similarly unique times, and the perspectives of all of our members could be useful in the future."

Kelos was surprised by the pride working together to figure out the best method of scouting in the rogue lands. Just as he had high expectations trusted on him as Nayaka, he, in turn, had an expectation on his fellow pride mates. And they went above his expectations as they worked together. He listened intently as each member had a moment to share their thoughts.
“All thoughts are valid Amon. The concerns you have are concerns that we all share. Feel free to continue sharing your opinions. It is the only way we will figure out the best solution to this problem.” He said before turning to his sister. “That is an excellent point Vijana. That last thing we need is a situation similar to the one that happened all those years ago when our home was invaded. We do not want to draw attention to ourselves.”
When Pinja suggested bringing other ranked members, Kelos took a moment to think on that. While he thought they would provide more use in the pride, he knew that they could provide their unique talents on the expedition. “That is an intriguing suggestion Pinja.”
His attention shifted to Emygdi the head guard. With her rank and experience, he knew that he needed to listen to her words and take them into consideration. Her idea would be an ideal situation. The pride members who left would be protected with a guard, but he worried about cutting their guard numbers too thin. His sister Yaalini also raised some good points. It seemed that the problem would not have a simple answer.
“Having a scouting group of three seems reasonable. A size that small will not raise the suspicions of outsiders. If we plan ahead and chart what directions each group goes we could maximize our coverage,” he suggested. “However we still have a problem with the guards. As ideal as sending one guard in each scouting group would be, do you believe that we have enough guards to escort each group and protect our home?”
