Outside the pride strange things had been reported. The Nayaka, Ksana and Rahasya have requested that all pride members stay within the pride. They do not want to lose any pride members to the outside nor do they want it to be brought back in. The Nayaka has called a meeting to decide what the pride should do about these odd occurrences.

What you need to know: All pride members should be within the pride. Guards have been put on extra alert. Currently nothing too strange has happened within the pride other then occasionally extra long nights and flickering lights near the border of the pride.

During the meeting the Ksana is being kept safe and hidden. She is being guarded by the Rahasya, Devaraja. The rest of the Rahasya are dispersed through out the crowd.

Prizes: There is a participation prize for this rp. For each post you make, you will get one raffle ticket. At the end of the rp I will make up the list and roll from it. The lioness below will be the prize for this rp.

Kelos stood before his pride for the first time in this life. Mzia, the Ksana was hidden away, protected by Devaraja. The pride needed to be seen as strong in these times, but Mzia safety was still important. She was still growing and had a lot to learn.

The meeting today was about the strange occurrences outside the pride. Voices that came from no where, days and days of darkness. Chaos was flooding the land. Kelos knew that outside the pride was dangerous. It was unpredictable what would happen to them out there. It was his choice to make though. Order the pride to remain within their borders or allow groups to go out and find more information about what is happening in the world. Though the choice was his to make, he did want input of the residents of Anvesana Caritra.

“My friends and family,” he spoke, his voice still young and shaky. “Are world is changing and we have a choice to make. Currently our pride is safe, but the seekers have reported about the oddities that are happening around us. It is dangerous more then ever to leave our pride.”

He glanced around. The Rahasya told him time and time again about how his or Mzia’s actions would have consequences. All he wanted to do was make the right one for the pride.

“After talking with Mzia and the Rahasya I have decided that I need more input. If we leave the pride, my plan is to go in groups. Not just seekers and recruiters go, but anyone who is able and willing to leave the pride. Traveling in numbers will make sure we travel safely.” Kelos took a deep breath in. Talking to the pride was more exhausting then he thought it would be. “But we could also remain in the pride and just let a couple seekers go out. The outings will be shorter though. I do not want to lose anyone.”

“I would like to open the discussion to you. What are your thoughts? What would you like to do?” Kelos asked.

Amon was on high alert, he had been doing a great deal of guard duty lately and this was his first time off in a number of days as the guards took turns guarding the border and protecting the pride. He had seen some strange lights while he was guarding the border but he hadn't thought much about it. He was rather confused, hearing the male say they should leave the pride in groups, why would they ever leave the pride? The bigger issue for him if they took guards away from the pride would the rest be safe if something happened. "Who would go? How many would go? You aren't suggesting we leave the weak undefended are you?" Amon's voice was a bit gruff but that was normal for him. He had never been a soft gentle male. He had a job and he intended to do it. As their leader, the male must have had the pride's best interests at heart certainly he wouldn't sacrifice the safety of the pride.

Yaalini slid along the edges of the crowd gathered to hear their Nayaka speak. Her lamplight eyes flickered from face to face, searching and alert, striving to exemplify the tenets she had learned up to this point. She felt she was doing well, too - save for every now and again, when her gaze would flick upwards, shining with pride. The lioness had her own opinions about the path that the pride should take through this turmoil, of course, but she had made that known along with the rest of the Rahasya.

The long and short of it was that they were a pride of knowledge, and that they as a whole sought the truth. So it was before, and so it should be now. She was all for their careful dissemination into the lands outside, Seekers at the head, to see what news may be found about the chaos that seemed to run rampant. What change could be large enough that they could shape the cycles of day and night? What kind of catastrophe could crack the sky? These were the kind of questions that made history. Whether the cause of these events was large or small, the Anvesana needed to go out and bring back enough information to maintain a proper record of it.

But she knew too that there were others who may not share her thoughts. The lioness' pale tail twitched, glancing briefly at the first to speak up in response. A small frown twitched at the corners of her muzzle before both gaze and paws moved on. At least for the moment, she was content to watch the discussion among those gathered; curious, in spite of herself, to see just what manner of thoughts happened to collect amidst her pride in the middle of all this strangeness.

Vijana stared at one of the fellow guards and her lip curled a little bit at his words, while it was a harmless question how dare he assume her brother was incapable of knowing how many to take and who to leave behind. "Perhaps you should choose your words more carefully Amon." Her voice was like a low hiss. "Do you truly think our Nayaka is so daft that he would really do such a thing?" Trying to get the male to see the err in his choice of words she turned and gazed towards her brother and flicked her tail angrily behind her. "A scouting party is quite important during these trials that are being placed upon our prides by these outside occurrences. I suggest that a list of volunteers be made and a handful are handpicked from it and the rest shall remain within the prides lands." Her opinion on the matter at paw. If this AMON was so concerned then perhaps he could be one of the one's that stayed behind while a few other's went beyond their lands to investigate to ensure there was no imminent danger to their beloved pride.

Pinja on the other paw was not so vocal as one of the guards that he was quite familiar with. He knew her family well given he'd been there just as long as them if not longer. He remembered when they were just cubs. Moving closer to Yaalini the stoneworker looked over towards her briefly before turning his full attention on the lions before them. "What do you think of all this?" He asked her curious to know her thoughts.

(I'm sorry for taking so long on this. Something important has happened in RL so I am very distracted.)

Kelos listened carefully to the pride members as they asked their questions and stated their concerns. He tried to keep a calm demeanor, wanting to be the confident face of his pride, but he was struggling. This was potentially his first big decision as Nayaka. Letting his pride down was not an option.

“Not everyone would go. We would leave the blessings and the young, as well as those who wish to take care of them. Some guards will remain as well. If we do chose to go, we will make sure that our home is protected. Protecting our family and love ones, as well as the secrets we keep will always be our top priority.” Kelos explained, looking at the guard who asked the first questions. “However, it is also our duty to report on the things that are happening. Years from now when we are all dead, the future generations should know about these strange occurrences.”

His eyes went to his sister Yaalini then to Vijana. It was a small comfort to see his family in the group. He noticed Vijana's tail and felt a worried for his sister. Later he would talk to her about what was wrong.

“A scouting party could be beneficial to be quickly and unnoticed. My only concern is that we have no idea what we are facing out there. Having strength in numbers could keep us safe.” He said, choosing his words carefully. “Does anyone else have an opinion on letting a scouting party go forward instead of having a large group go? Please speak your mind if you have any concerns about this trip.”

Amon didn't say anything to the other guard till he heard what the Nayaka had in mind, he wasn't sure if he wanted to go on this trip or would rather stay with the pride and guard the blessings and the young. He still worried for the safety of their people, but staying hidden forever wouldn't gain them new stories or history which were important to their pride. He looked to the guard then Vijana. "It was a simple question and clearly he does have a plan, so I will.." He wasn't really sure what else he wanted to say hush, stand down. Something like that. Whatever he said he was likely to annoy the female guard. He considered her words, trails. What did that really mean, what were the lights that had been seen on the border? Amon certainly didn't know but it seemed Vijana and the Nayaka were right there was only one way to find out.

Her agitation subsided as the Nayaka spoke and it was true, there needed to be some to go out and investigate. NOT ALL had to go, but a decent number would be best in case of any sort of troubles, but not enough it would jeopardize the whole pride if numbers were to be lost.

"I would go forth and investigate if possible. While I do believe numbers would be beneficial, we do not want too many so as to bring attention to ourselves and cause the pride a heavy loss if any where to not return."

Not paying anymore attention towards the other guard she looked over towards the stoneworker that had known her family a long time.

Pinja took a seat and soft colored eyes watched as the younger female's anger seemed to settle down a little bit. It was refreshing to see that so many had energy within their lands, wanting to do what they could to ensure they were protected from the known and unknown.

"While sending guards along, I feel as though other's might be well to go out as well. So that we are sending a variety of talents. You never know what you might come across." Finally he spoke towards their ruler and would go if needed.

Emygdi was late to the gathering but she failed to feel shame for it. Her job, first and foremost, was to make sure that their borders were secure and that at all times their pride members were safe. If it meant she missed an introduction or a pride announcement in order to ensure that no one came to harm on her watch, well, it was just a trade that she was willing to make. She had not been appointed to head guard for nothing. Besides, they were a pride of knowledge - the details could be recounted later from any number of pride members if she missed something important.

As she strolled up upon the group, mostly satisfied with the guards they had in place, she let her ears turn toward the context of the conversation. It seemed, from first impression, that they were trying to decide how to continue their excursions. Anxiety plucked at her heartstrings as she realized she could not be with every pride member as they went out into this suddenly crazy world but she, too, knew that it would be a betrayal of their purpose if they were to shut down their borders entirely for fear of danger. Most of their greatest stories had elements of death and disaster; she did not wish that upon any of their pride members but the truth was that it was simply an expected reality of mortal existence. She didn't have to like it, though.

Em was slowly making her way to the front of the crowd when she heard others speaking, claiming they should send a variety of talents, and immediately alarms ran through her mind. She pushed forward with a purpose so that she might look upon Kelos directly and be seen.

"I disagree," she let her voice rise, clear and pointed, "I think our groups should be more carefully planned. We must continue our collection of knowledge for the sake of the pride but we don't know what else is beyond our borders. I propose we send a guard to every two bodies at a minimum and only our most capable pride members should be allowed to leave. Knowledge is important but it is worthless if it does not make it back to our pride."

Her head rose and her jowls clenched as she finished her words. She would not budge from this opinion. If she could not be there to protect their pride members as they ventured forward then the most she could do was make sure they were as protected as possible beyond her realm.

The white-striped lioness sat as she was approached, the pale white of her spine ramrod save for its gently curling tip. Her gaze settled on the green-maned lion that had spoken to her, considering him: though she recognized the hearty build of one of their stoneworkers, a name escaped her. The scrunch of a brow beneath pale mane betrayed the way Yaalini felt about that. It was her job, after all, to know better.

Her attention on him faded, however, as her brother spoke. In his wake, the pride made itself known. The faintest smile, content with the way their Nayaka handled himself, crept into Yaalini's expression.

That smile only grew with Pinja's suggestion, which she acknowledged with a nod and wink - only to find her ears lifting at words just past him. Ah, their head guard. Her fears were reasonable, certainly, however... "I also see the wisdom in smaller scouting parties. Easier to get around, for one. Less likely to be seen by others as a threatening force, for another.

"But a guard to every two bodies seems a rather ambitious figure, unless we similarly restrict the size of the parties themselves."
Mouth drawing to one side, Yaalini rubbed a paw against her jaw - for the moment, at least, seeming lost in thought. Her ears pressed against her skull, lingering a moment before flipping back towards Emygdi. "Honestly, that may not be a bad idea. One guard, as you insist - one familiar with the rogue lands, such as our recruiters and seekers - and one other, as our stoneworker here has suggested. Unusual? Yes, certainly. But these are similarly unique times, and the perspectives of all of our members could be useful in the future."

Kelos was surprised by the pride working together to figure out the best method of scouting in the rogue lands. Just as he had high expectations trusted on him as Nayaka, he, in turn, had an expectation on his fellow pride mates. And they went above his expectations as they worked together. He listened intently as each member had a moment to share their thoughts.

“All thoughts are valid Amon. The concerns you have are concerns that we all share. Feel free to continue sharing your opinions. It is the only way we will figure out the best solution to this problem.” He said before turning to his sister. “That is an excellent point Vijana. That last thing we need is a situation similar to the one that happened all those years ago when our home was invaded. We do not want to draw attention to ourselves.”

When Pinja suggested bringing other ranked members, Kelos took a moment to think on that. While he thought they would provide more use in the pride, he knew that they could provide their unique talents on the expedition. “That is an intriguing suggestion Pinja.”

His attention shifted to Emygdi the head guard. With her rank and experience, he knew that he needed to listen to her words and take them into consideration. Her idea would be an ideal situation. The pride members who left would be protected with a guard, but he worried about cutting their guard numbers too thin. His sister Yaalini also raised some good points. It seemed that the problem would not have a simple answer.

“Having a scouting group of three seems reasonable. A size that small will not raise the suspicions of outsiders. If we plan ahead and chart what directions each group goes we could maximize our coverage,” he suggested. “However we still have a problem with the guards. As ideal as sending one guard in each scouting group would be, do you believe that we have enough guards to escort each group and protect our home?”

"I believe three sounds like a reasonable number. Though, how many guards do we have currently within the prides? Perhaps we base our groups on those numbers. So if we have x amount of guards then we only send so many parties. Especially if we're going to be keeping guards within the pride itself?" While she wasn't a head guard yet it probably would have done her some good to know WHO each of the guards within the pride was. But she had been focusing on other things and they'd had so many new faces lately it was hard to keep track at the moment. "Truly we probably should only send out maybe a quarter of our prides numbers, I feel as though that would be enough to do what needs to be done." Wasn't there any pride members with avian companions? "Do any of our members have an avian companion perhaps? I feel as though they would be a valuable asset right now because we could just send a few avians to investigate first and then base our parties off of their findings?"

Maybe she was reaching but it was worth a thought.

Pinja listened as everyone spoke and really it was about the same all around. Groups of three at most perhaps. At the moment he didn't have anything else to add about or to the discussion, everything that could be addressed was already out on the table, at least it seemed like it was to him.

Kelos listened to his sister. She provided useful input. He waited to see if anyone else had anything to add before continuing. “We will have to do an official count for our guards. I will leave that task as well as picking out which guards should go to our head guard since she would know best who to send.” He said, looking toward Emygdi and nodding his head.

Then he looked back at his sister. “Sending out avians would work, though I am not sure how many are currently in the pride. We could send those with birds ahead and have them scout. The avians could also assist in finding the best routes to take and make sure our groups cover the most ground.”

It seemed like the majority was in favor of the group traveling. He would sit down later with the Rahasya individually and see if they had any thoughts. This project would toll heavily on them, especially keeping track of the pride members. Hopefully, though it was worth it.
