The Messengers of Death
An Aegnor'hini Plot

'Death is the true Master of all.'

It started with two sisters. Born into a family that was more 'tough' than 'love', their brother was the favored cub while they took all the blows. The moment they could leave, they did. And they found misfortune after misfortune as they went, each one twisting the sisters into something that resembled the cubs they once were less and less. As time went on, certain things became clear them. Above all, there was one Truth.

The only god that truly ruled was Death.

He was the only one worthy of their praise and worship, and the two sisters sought to honor him in their life, in their own twisted ways. Time passed, and they found themselves making a wrong step. They were captured by a pride full of lions that were convinced they were demons, and bound to servitude as little more than 'things'. But despite railing at their captivity, the dark sister saw an opportunity. A chance to corrupt and crack an entire pride from the inside.

With the light sister's mate outside the pride and their first 'convert' inside the pride, the sisters have deemed it time to begin.

The whispers of Death have begun to spread.

The OOC

Jezebeth and Lillith are using their capture by the Aegnor'hini to spread worship of their version of Death, a version that does not actually exist, nor ever will. The cult will start small, and spread over time. The sisters' goal is eventual takeover of the pride, though it will not succeed. This is something of an under-arching metaplot, something that will simmer in the background and build while other things go on around it.

The easiest way to find out about the cult is through Beleger [for those inside the pride] or from Laana [for those outside the pride]. It will be quiet at first, and the only real warning seers may get is that something weird is going on, but not what. They might get an uneasy feeling once the cult starts gaining traction, but who isn't uneasy about the thought of Death, right?

The Laws of Death

Death Above All

• Death is your god, the only one worthy of praise and worship. Others exist, but they do not deserve supplication.

Honor Death in All You Do

• Every step you make, every breath you take, every kill and triumph, is in His glory.

Do Not Seek Death Early

• He seeks only the strongest, most cunning, and most vicious for His Messengers. If you seek a place by His side, you must live and work for it. He will take you when He is ready.

Listen to His Beloved

• Though they are bound in mortal flesh, the Sisters are touched by Him. It is through them His voice can be heard.

Heed Not the False Sight

• Those who call themselves Seers and Priests, Fortune-tellers and Gifted, are not truly gifted. Only those who have known the touch of Death can truly See.

Caution Around the Unenlightened

• Not all are strong enough to accept Him. Not all will understand. Chose who you enlighten carefully.

Needed Evils

This is basically the OOC rules/notes section.

First off, this is a cult. It is not meant to be kind or pretty. Jezebeth and Lillith are not nice, and they will encourage the worst in those they bring into the fold.

All RPs involving the Messengers of Death being creepy, cult-y, or particularly Not Kosher are to be marked with a * on both sides of the RP type-marker [for example - [*PRP*] [*SOLO*] ]. This is to help ensure anyone who isn't up to such content can avoid clicking. Remember to keep it PG-13 still. Be creative, but don't do something that could get you or SoA in trouble please! We're here to have fun, not break the thing!

This will not end well for the Messengers. Some may be spared and left in the pride, potentially with some restrictions on them, depending on involvement in later events. Others may become exiled. Others may die. We will not kill pre-existing characters without your express permission. Some future contest characters may come with a warning of possible death, but anyone you bring to the table is safe unless you want them to not be.

Again, keep it PG-13. Please. Dark and creepy can be written without descending into territory that will get folks in trouble. It's been done before in SoA.

OOCly, we can't have seers warning people too soon. Eventually, we will be opening up the potential for seers to See there's a serious problem, but until then, we ask you keep anything to visions that can't be interpreted and strange gut feelings.

His Messengers

The only 'ranks' among the Messengers are those of His 'Beloved' [the Sisters] and their 'Prophets' [Beleger and Laana]. Otherwise, all are simply His Messengers. These are not official ranks, and thus do not go on a cert.

Embracing Death

Looking for a darker plot for your character? Come join the Messengers! It's even open to those outside of the pride, though the Sisters will be even pickier about outsiders than those inside the pride. If you're worried about your SoA being able to meet the sisters, Beleger sometimes gets himself 'stuck' on guard duty for the sisters. Needless to say, he's happy to make sure they get a chance to meet their new Messengers.

Questions of Mortality

Q: Is this Death an actual god?
A: No. Jezebeth and Lillith are not worshiping an actual SoA god. This is their version of the concept of Death-as-a-god. So far as we know, there never has been and never will be a player-controlled God of Death in SoA. He's a shop NPC.
