Never in his life could Kupa have imagined the peace and happiness he currently felt. Not since he had been taken from Mawu and his sister as a cub had he felt so...right. Of course that could be because he was once again with his mother and beloved sisters. Their love and joy over being together again had soothed many wounds left in the massive lion's soul that he hadn't even known were there. He was even willing to tolerate the male (Not forgive...never that) that sired him since he had been the one to bring Kupa back to them. So yet, all in all life was good for a change. Better yet his new pride, new family seemed to value his size and strength! For once he wasn't made out to be a freak of nature or only wanted for his coloration. They gave him an important job, to protect the pride, to protect his family, and by the gods Kupa was going to do just that.

Still...it got lonely and boring at times just patrolling the same spot. He wouldn't leave his post, never that, but he could rest for awhile in the shade couldn't he? He found himself a nice big rock to sun on that let him overlook his patrol area and settled in for a good afternoon sunning.

Leaving her family hadn't been a choice she anticipated making in her life, nor was it truly a choice. Mkali wasn't removed, but found herself idly pacing here and there before realizing she simply couldn't stay put. Life had never been boring, but she was eager to go out and discover more - so with heavy hearts she bid her family farewell in favor of adventure.

Adventure had been what she sought after, but it wasn't what she found, not immediately. There were active days, sure, but most of her time was spent blindly travelling the lands between pride after pride. No where felt comfortable for the lioness and so she continued her aimless wandering. Aimless to her, but not to fate as luck would have it.

"Hm?" Ears cocked to her left and right as she listened carefully for a peep. There wasn't much to be heard, which was strange to a lioness now familiar to the roguelands. When she rose her pale nose to the sky, closing her eyes all the while she breathed in deeply, she discovered that fate had lead her to a particular habited area - perhaps another pride? The sun was beating down on her and though her nose had picked up a scent her eyes saw nothing, was the sun effecting her judgement? Could she be smelling things?

Forgetting the possibility of a pride she began to seek out water, instead what she found startled her causing a small squeak to erupt from her. Poised, in a comfortable fashion, on a fairly sizable rock was a lion - not what she had expected though it muted her concerns of feeling sun-crazed.

"Hello?" Her voice was tiny and her greeting was nearly unnecessary, especially following the squeak.

Lavander eyes snapped open as a voice spoke up..well...squeaked aloud? Kupa blinked a few times before giving a gently smile to the dark lionness "No need to be afraid Ma'am. I won't hurt you. " He was slow to sit up, not wanting to frighten her with his size.

"You haven't strayed onto my pride's lands so you are fine just where you are...though I imagine with that dark coat you might be feeling rather hot in the sun."

He ducked his head giving her another soft smile, "Come. there is water and shade near here still outside our lands where you may rest if you wish."

Mkali didn't dare to move a muscle as lavender eyes locked with hers. The owner of the pair of eyes blinked in her direction and she nearly leaped out of skin. When he spoke she found an ounce of relief, but that slowly began to fall away as he stood. His movements were slow and deliberate, but still alarming. He didn't seem to stop growing before her until he was finally at what she suspected to be his full height.

"Well that's the first bit of good news I've gotten today." Finally finding her voice she spoke up and even managed a small, wary smile. When he mentioned the sun she naturally turned her gaze upwards, but snapped her eyes back to him quickly. "It's uncomfortable, but manageable." Mkali didn't hide the fact that her words were guarded and her stance was defensive. If being in the roguelands on her own had taught her anything, it was not to trust anyone.

Water.

Suddenly her mouth went dry. Had she been thirsty all along and just unaware? Mkali stared down the large lion with a soft smile and gentle eyes. Nothing about him screamed danger, but she was still worried about the possibilities. "Thank you." A snap decision was made. Either she dies here with him or turns around and ends up dying in the process anyway. Her mind was running a mile a minute and she dared her concern to come forward with any other logic. It didn't.

"What's your name?" Niceties were what she clung to instead as she walked towards him.
