Welcome to the wonderful world of a Hobbit inspired pride! While it's still in the works, it is fairly close to completion and I have a few key characters to give away to help breathe some life into it. All the pride needs at the moment is a background for the cert and five RPs! Please read up on the IT which is linked above before applying for these characters. All lions are colored by Seaki.

Starts: 1/31
Ends: 2/14

Rules
1. All lions must stay within the pride unless it is dissolved in the future.
2. You may enter for all five but can only win one.
3. Please understand that these are high ranking lions within the pride. If you win one and fail to RP them (at least once every six months) I reserve the right to reclaim and rehome them.
4. This IT is still very much open and you are more than welcome to put other lions of yours into it!

Brewer

User Image

This lovely lady is the pride's lone playable Brewer (for the time being). She is in charge of making Brew, a fermented beverage that the Sûzat enjoy drinking at parties, at meals, or just for the heck of it. The ingredients are a closely guarded secret that only Brewers are privy to. Her brother, also being contested off here, is the Master Marsh Wader. Please fill out the form below to enter for her.

User Image

Here we have the Master Herder for the Sûzat. Herders are in charge of maintaining the North Farthing to keep it ideal for the herds that come through. The Herders generally serve as the guards for the pride itself as well as the North is only accessible route into the pride. The Master Herder oversees this work and trains the adolescents who choose to pursue herding as their rank. Please fill out the form below to enter for him.

Master Marsh Wader

User Image

Here we have the Master Marsh Wader for the Sûzat. He is the brother of the Brewer who is also being contested off. Marsh Waders tend to one crop and one crop only: iboga. Iboga is a hallucinogenic plant that the Sûzat lions enjoy chewing after a good meal. It is the most difficult crop to grow successfully as it only thrives in marshy areas but it is by far the Sûzat's most prized possession and is their main export in trading with other prides. Creatures come from miles around to try just one blade of iboga. The Master Marsh Wader oversees this work and trains the adolescents who choose to pursue marsh wading as their rank. Please fill out the form below to enter for him.

Clan Chief

User Image

Here we have the lone playable Clan Chief (for the time being). Clan Chiefs are elected by the entire pride as representatives to speak for the pride during meetings with the Thain. Originally the pride was run entirely by the Clan Chiefs, but as the pride grew they realized they needed one leader to oversee the meetings and play a neutral, but leading role. Although the title of Thain is now a birthright, should the current Thain pass before producing an heir, the next Thain elected from the Clain Chiefs by the Chiefs themselves. This is a diplomatic position and Chiefs are elected for their personality and the desire to see the pride thrive. Please fill out the form below to enter for him.

Dilly Dilly!
Name: Eithne
Meaning: "kernel, grain"
Personality: Eithne is a self-reliant lioness, she doesn't wait for anyone else to help her get a task done. She has always strived for what she wanted. She has loved experimenting with new things since she was a young cub and has continued to seek out new tastes and amusing things to share with her pride as she has grown older. She loves nothing more than a loud roaring party with food, drink, friends and family all around her. Eithne is a diligent worker when she needs to be, she works hard and parties hard. She works best on her own, keeping her secrets close to her chest. She doesn't give special information away easily. Eithne enjoys the small talk that comes with sharing a drink with others, but she isn't very good at talking serious topics with others and will often change the subject if pressed to speak of a serious matter.
What made her strive to be a Brewer?: Eithne has loved partying since she was a little cub when she became an adolescent she started bugging the head brewer to teacher her their secrets. She has wanted to become a brewer since she was young, it has been her dream to turn her experiments with flavors of grains and fruits and make them into something special for her pride to enjoy.

*Whistles innocently and places down the first of a few of theeeese*

Dilly Dilly!
Name: Issdal
Meaning: Festive Provider
Personality: Though Issdal's relaxed in temperament those around her might find this small lioness hard to keep up with in regards to work and drinking. Stories have been told of her drinking large rogues straight under the table and still dance a jig later, whether or not there is truth behind this is largely up to debate. As long as she's got work to do and good company to keep at the end of a day Issdal is happy to share everything she has and more with family and friend alike. Though certainly no bard she can tell a story and is fond of matching brews to special occasions, adding new ingredients and experimenting with flavors added through seasonal harvests. Should anyone ask the recipe she'll cast a laugh in their direction and go about her way, never allowing them to realize how easily they irritated her or that ever was. Deep down she can hold a grudge though, and wrenches every bit of life out of it, keeping her ire just as secret as her brew recipes. Gods forbid any mock her creations, she might laugh during the offense but Issdal never forgets until an apology is offered.
What made her strive to be a Brewer?: Born with a tongue that could easily identify different flavors and profiles, Issdal was lucky enough to be born in the Westfarthing and traipsed in the pawprints of the Brewers she grew up idolizing. While she was never allowed to try it as a cub she began to taste different ingredients and learn how to differentiate between them very young, always desiring to learn different recipes of any sort she would even go so far as to tweak ingredients in her mother's own cooking with mixed results. As she grew into her adolescence Issdal expressed her desire to learn so that she could use her skills and benefit the community. After repeatedly and at length explaining why she thought she would be the best option she was given the chance to learn the age old techniques and recipe, the lioness threw herself into learning and has never once looked back.

Git Along Lil' Dawgies
Name: Arvokal
Meaning: Fierce Prankster (Though the meaning has been known to change with his whims, his family originally meant for the meaning to be something along the lines of Cunningly Fierce, this has since bitten them right in the ol' karma hole)
Personality: A mixture of a love for animals and mischief makes this truly intelligent lion quite trying as he trains every jackal, cub, and maned wolf pup in Sûzat how to terrorize the quiet lions around him with their pranks. No one loves a good laugh better than Arvokal and no one plays a better trick, probably because no one else tries to ruffle feathers, literal or otherwise. If it weren't for his position within the pride he likely would have been grabbed by the ear and chastised for his ways as often now as he was as a cub. The bonus to his adulthood and rank is that the trickster spends many a long day, or even month at a time, in Northfarthing tending to the prey and overseeing the processes behind keeping them healthy so that the herd flourishes, a job he takes deathly serious. If it weren't for his meticulous methods and systems the pride could go hungry, or even worse miss second breakfast! Under all the pranks and jokes he is a careful and guarded individual that cares deeply for all those in his pride and wishes to keep them safe, always monitoring the road into the heart of Sûzat should any with ill intent see fit to travel there. If he is certain that his loved ones and beloved neighbors are safe then he can breath (and drink!) easily knowing that his work was done well. If any fall victim to his pranks they know deep down under any immediate frustration that he only does so out of joy and love.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why he is an effective Master Herder: Between keeping not only meticulous but well labeled notes and charts to follow the breeding schedules and rounds of illness and keeping a steady eye on the protection of his wonderful pride, Arvokal would seem to have his paws so full that he would never have time to train sufficiently. Let alone have time to plot out and plan such elaborate pranks and tricks in whatever small amount of free time he has. However with his quick thinking and even quicker pace, the buff colored lion actually runs circles around his Herders, choosing to make schedules and plans for who oversees what herd at what time and accurately planning depending on what he's seeing happen and what was originally plotted out to occur. One of his famous sayings is "The herd does what nature intended and we just try to help nature along a bit." Adolescents looking to become herders spend their first few days with him simply trying to keep up with his pace of movement, all that he asks is they observe and take note of what they see and hear. Over the course of the first few days they'll be given the chance to see how the Herds and the lions that tend them function and come to understand what it entails to be the first means of defense for their pride. After they've seen how it flows and what Arvokal expects he'll pair them with a Herder and let them experience it first hand. Through this system he can test what the newest stock of potentials has to offer him and make plans on placement from there.

*Applies for another Hobbit* >w> Hobbithobbithobbit

E-I-E-I-O
Name: Nisulaps
Meaning: Wheat Child
Personality: Full to the brim with energy that seems to make this lioness glow from the inside out, Nisulaps might not work circles around her fellow farmers, but that's because she wants to teach them all and help the pride. Plants are possibly her favorite thing and it does not matter what type it is, whether it's the wheat for brew or the various plants and tubors for the prey animals that the Master Herder cares for, she has her paws in a lot of different projects thanks to the importance of her position. Luckily for her and everyone involved she is not only very good at balancing those relationships with her fellow Masters, but also understanding that said masters do not get everything she grows, as for the good of the pride things have to be evenly distributed. At heart she loves parties and throwing them but is a hard worker that knows how one has to work to enjoy their play.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why she is an effective Master Farmer: While she does not have a photographic memory, Nisulaps can recall every place she planted and what groups she needs to rotate in order to keep the land fertile. Her experience and the teachings of her elders alerts her to when a plot of field needs time to lie fallow or when it's time to harvest at the peak of their growth. Unlike some other masters she takes her time train any and all possible future farmers from the ground up, starting with putting them in groups with more experienced individuals first and letting them learn the most menial tasks in the hopes that they understand that it is not easy. After they begin showing promise she'll move them up and eventually, before any become full fledged farmers under her, Nisulaps has them work with her directly to see exactly what her plans and methods entail on an individual level.

A Vote For Me Is A Vote For You
Name: Faramir
I took it from this page. Eldest son of Peregrin Took and Diamond "of Long Cleeve" Took, born in the year 1430 of the Shire Reckoning. Named after Faramir son of Denethor, the last ruling Steward of Gondor. Married Samwise Gamgee's daughter Goldilocks in 1463. Became heir to the Thainship in 1434, and succeeded as 33rd Thain of the Shire in 1484.

Meaning: "sufficient jewel"
Personality: He can be a bit mischievous, given it's in his lineage to do things out of the normal. But honestly he's very calm and mild mannered, has a large appetite and enjoys food a great deal. He's definitely one to discuss things over a nice meal, so if you want to talk to him about something, bring a slab of meat and talk away. He's a kind soul with a soft heart and firm paw. He likes to enjoy the simple things in life when he's not busy with ensuring things in the pride are being run smoothly. While he might not show it up front, he really is one of those "enjoy life to it's fullest" types, he just acts indifferent now and again so as to remain neutral when it comes to certain things.
A Clan Chief has a lot of responsibility hanging over them seeing to the wants of the pride members and the pride as a whole. What qualities make him a great Clan Chief?:
He worries. Not in a OMG WHATS GOING ON, sort of way. More of a, I care about each of you as individuals and want nothing but the best for all my lions type of worry. He cares deeply for them all and tries his best to be fair and impartial when passing judgement/votes.
He values the input of everyone, especially the fellow Chiefs and the Thain.

E-I-E-I-O
Name: Datti
Meaning: Dirt
Personality: Datti is a bit of a hard a**. She takes a great deal of pride in her work and her job. She genuinely loves what she does and cares more for the plants she grows than most other living creatures. This does not mean though that she is ever unkind to another individual just that she doesn't understand them as well as she understands her plants.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why she is an effective Master Farmer: Datti is an effective Master Farmer because she takes pride in her work and expects others takes the same pride. She is always happy to teach someone more about the plants and how they grow. She wants to make sure anyone working under her has an understanding of what it takes to grow the healthiest crop possible. The one time she is able to talk completely freely with another is when she is talking about the plants she over sees, she could talk anyone's ears off about them.

Not For Cubs
Name: Krimb
Meaning: 'maggot'
Personality: Does anyone else remember a couple of hobbits.. two that had trespassed on a farm that caused them to be captive in a long tale of the one ring. Well the farmer they trespassed against won't soon forget them. Krimb is crochety, protective, and observant. He can be mild mannered at times, but can come across as cold, harsh, and unrealistic. For training purposes he expects the adolescents to be as hardy as the plants they will be tending too, not mushy like the grounds of the marsh. Though he's a tough teacher the lessons are rewarding.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why he is an effective Master Marsh Wader:
Krimb is tough, firmly believing that each and every adolescent that desires to learn the trade isn't necessarily always the best qualified. He will be blunt and open about his expectations, but won't readily walk someone out. He's become well rounded in time which has allowed him to have compassion towards those who are at least trying. Those who choose to bugger off won't hear a word from him beyond - 'get out'. He has no place for foolishness and wouldn't take lightly to having his fields tampered with (which means a plot like that needs to happen).

E-I-E-I-O
Name: Tshala
Meaning: To plant, cultivate
Personality: Tshala is a tough, sassy lady that doesn't brook any nonsense. She has a definite green paw and clearly has a love for plants and herbs. She's extremely protective of her fields and has all of the younglings around terrified of her temper if they dare to harm her plantings. She is also an extremely warm and talkative individual and has a small weakness for gossip.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why she is an effective Master Farmer: Tshala isn't about to accept any complaints or excuses from anyone. The planting and the farming is her responsibility and one that she takes very seriously. She loves to pass on her knowledge and passion for the plants to others and will absolutely take the time to instruct anyone who shows genuine interest in farming. However, attempt to cross her and she will make you regret it. Her reputation is a fierce one as local rumor has it that she likes to fertilize the plants with the bodies of her enemies.
Do you understand that she is an RP-required character? Yes!

Not For Cubs
Name: Dag
Meaning: named after character from a book
Personality: Solid and reliable, Dag is slow to anger and has a seemingly endless amount of patience. In his younger days, he had a bad addiction to the iboga but he was able to kick that by being forced to work the marshes. He's now proud of his work and a good, steady worker, eager to help but also to protect the youngsters and keep them from following his path.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why he is an effective Master Marsh Wader: Dag is an entirely reliable guy. Tell him to be somewhere and he's there, ask him to do something and it is done. He's utterly trustworthy and cares deeply for protecting the young members of the pride to keep them from repeating his own mistakes. He knows the dangers of what he is working with and his steadiness and routine allows him to oversee everyone safely.

Dilly Dilly!
Name: Mowa
Meaning: "brew" in Nyanja
Personality: Crass, Flirtatious, Business minded.

She will flirt with you until the herders come home and then some. She loves jovial tales and harsh laughter. And most of all? She likes a full, loud space of lions enjoying her brews. She owns a bar of a sort, which is really a clearing with fallen logs and a makeshift stage for an entertainer of some sort. She expects any family of hers to take after her in the business, just as she had. She'll hire capable paws to help run the bar and make deliveries but keeps the secret of the brew close to heart.
What made her strive to be a Brewer?: Her mother was the Brewer and her mother before her. A family secret and Mowa plans on keeping that secret close at her. It will usually be the eldest daughter that she'll try to pass the secret too, but only if they become the Brewer.
Do you understand that she is an RP-required character? Yes!

E-I-E-I-O
Name: Tuaian
Meaning: "Harvest" in Malay
Personality: Tuaian is more focused and intent on the growth of the land. She has no time for love, or for playing, or for relaxing. From dawn to dusk, it's tending to the crops and overseeing the work. From dusk to dawn, it's preparing for the next day and getting some sleep. Because of this, she seems distant and not the friendliness. She hates wasting her time. And she hates being sick.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why she is an effective Master Farmer: Tuaian has been farming for a majority of her life, ever since she was an adolescent. Intent and focused, she's the type to keep going until the job is done. Except, when it comes to farming, the job is never done. She is very single-tracked and so, very unlikely to get off task.
Do you understand that she is an RP-required character?

Git Along Lil' Dawgies
Name: Malas
Meaning: "Lazy" in Malay
Personality: Malas would love to lay back in the field and munch on some stray hay, if he could. And he can! Having worked most of his youth to his position, he finally earned the right to do his dream! To be lazy! He's full of slow smiles, dry wit, and a soft touch.
Being a Master is hard work. You need to have a solid grip on your craft as well as being able to oversee large groups of lions and train the youth. Tell me why he is an effective Master Herder: Malas is an efficient teacher. And he's a slow, gentle touch. He thinks that's required to deal with the herd. No need to spook them or make them wary. Culling the herd doesn't need to be traumatic to the herd. He looks down on bullying their prey and usually, that's the quickest way for the whelp to be sent to do useless chores. A lion should be able to lay among the herd without causing a panic. Of course, bullying towards those who would think to harm the herd was another thing. But that should be taken away in the distance, where full punishment could be dealt.
Do you understand that he is an RP-required character? Yes

A Vote For Me Is A Vote For You
Name: Bry
Meaning: "Bother" in Norwegian. Not Brother.
Personality: Bry is a busybody. He wants to get into everyone's business, listen to every bit of gossip and follow up on it. He's not one to actually do something productive. Fixing the issue with the river where a dam had been accidentally made? Nah. He wants to chat with people, socialize, tease, and just have fun. He is thoroughly a social butterfly and does not actually like hard work that keeps him away from others.
A Clan Chief has a lot of responsibility hanging over them seeing to the wants of the pride members and the pride as a whole. What qualities make him a great Clan Chief?: Although Bry has no fondness to getting hard work down when it comes to construction, treaties, and official meetings, he doesn't lack his own qualities that make him a great Clan Chief.
He's a friendly individual and observant. Anything having to do directly with another lion, he usually does very well. As long as it's casual. Although he tends to 'disappear' when he has to do official business, he can be found usually talking to someone. Because of this, he is very knowledgeable in public opinions, the going ons of the pride, and on individual members to a personal degree.
