exclaim Major Pride Announcement: Rogue-blooded Cubs exclaim ![User Image](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/raqui/SoA/zlol/firekin/agnilineup.png)
As most of you are already aware, one of the Firekin Regents, Agni-pariksha (played by Ecavi), has taken part in a rogue breeding. This thread is a place to provide all the information that would be publicly known about this family and give you a place to offer the opinions of any characters you play that would be compelled to speak up!
This is a huge decision for the pride to make so the following wall of text is unavoidable. Please at least read the Pitch and OOC Information!
The Family
Agni-pariksha was one of two lions to win the popular vote to become Regent of the Firekin after Kidondo and No stepped down. She is a born soldier of Hongshan-rogue blood who worked her way through the ranks quickly and has the scars to prove it. She was generally well-liked throughout her career as a soldier, though opinions on her as Regent may be mixed as she was vocally supportive of expanding naming and color restrictions. Her idea of permitting rogue breeding could be the end of her.
The Cubs: Atyadhik (played by Excited Apathy), Bahudama (played by ooDeD), Turiya (played by Meepfur), & Katranak (played by Ecavi).
All four cubs are Firekin-friendly colors and have the attitudes to match. Despite this, they have all been given the rank of huria at Agni-pariksha's request. They are all expected to train both as proper Firekin and potential permanent huria. If, at adolescent, they are unable to prove themselves in a duel, they will be sent out of the pride.
The Bodyguards: Ud (played by SilverLutz) & Vatra (played by Excited Apathy)
In the interest of protecting the Regent and her offspring from potentially violent opposition, it was recommended by the council that she have bodyguards. She agreed and asked the two lions who were able to find and catch her in her little game of hide and seek, using it as an excuse to train with them more regularly herself.. and to have them included in the cubs' training. Both are openly supportive of the idea of rogue breeding (or they wouldn't have agreed to help out).
Extended Family: Lumatha (played by mouselet), Pahar-rusi (played by SilverLutz) & Vasuman (played by belloblossom).
Agni-pariksha's parents and brother are a major influence in the lives of her cubs. In order to combat the rule about both parents being involved in the lives of cubs, the Regent has enlisted the help of her family make up the difference. Her father, Pahar-rusi, and brother, Vasuman, are given more public emphasis because they act as the male role models the cubs otherwise lack.
The Council On the topic of rogue breeding, the council is currently divided.
Against Rogue Breeding: Tapana (played by Kimaria) is the most open about her dislike of the idea despite her continuing support of her fellow Regent. Ukame'chaka (played by nessiaing), as the Safi Magistrate, is also known to be against the idea.
For Rogue Breeding: Na-atesh (played by Andranis) is the most open about his approval of the idea despite his on-going minor feud with Agni-pariksha. Psyche (played by Meepfur), as the Simo Magistrate and a former huria herself, is also known to be for the idea.
Neutral: Nawvlee (played by Ecavi) is the only council member to have remained neutral on the idea. He sees the potential benefits but he also sees the hurdles to be cleared before the pride gets there.
The entire council has agreed to let the entire pride weigh in on the situation.
((These descriptions are based on the council meeting RP and logical guesswork. If any council members have changed their opinions or the intensity of their opinions, let me know and I will update this!))

The Pitch
Agni-pariksha went to the Ithambo'hlabathi lands and made a deal with a sitting Umholi without the permission or knowledge of her fellow Regent or the Council. She made the decision on her own in an attempt to both solidify their alliance with the neighbouring pride and introduce the idea of there being acceptable options outside the pride for siring cubs.
Her cubs were sired by Andhaka (played by Meepfur), one of two leaders in the Ithambo'hlabathi. He is a lion of Firekin-appropriate colors, proven strength and already has connections to the pride: his brother, Ro Vasuva (played by Princess_Feylin) is a member.
The Regent will defend her choice against any question and holds him as the example of an ideal outside sire. He was definitely the best choice for her and the security of her family when she made this questionable decision.. but she has answers ready for the major questions any Firekin is likely to ask.
Q. Why should this be OK?
A. The Firekin already accept rogues into the pride. There is a constant stream of new members into the Motoujamii, not a single lion can deny that there are not worthy rogues out there. Not all of them may be interested in joining the Firekin, but they are out there. Really, what it comes down to is whether or not the pride should be able to trust the judgement of the Firekin lionesses who might seek an outside sire.
Agni-pariksha thinks the ladies are definitely smart enough to make good decisions, and she is all the more convinced after the outrage her decision has caused. If the pride is critical of the idea, they will be critical of potential candidates to sire cubs.
Q. Do we really need this?
A. Yes, absolutely.
For generations, the Motoujamii has been overrun with old blood. Venerable though it may be, it has created a pride full of cousins. It's so bad that the pride recently established the rank of Matchmaker so that these cousins can avoid accidental inbreeding and for ages, it has been recommended that potential mates research their lineages to make sure there is no overlap.
Agni-pariksha, coming from a small Hongshan family, has almost no family in the pride. If she had chosen a mate within the Firekin, her cubs would likely have joined the horde of members who can't walk two steps without tripping over a cousin. Of course it's still likely that her line will cross with the dominant lines in the pride, she produced four daughters of nearly unique lineage.. and that's all the more reason the pride needs the help of outside blood!
Q. What about the risk of huria?
A. What about it?
In truth, Agni-pariksha is mildly disappointed she didn't produce a proper huria. Her goal is to set an example with herself and this is one thing she can't do. The risk of introducing undesirable colors is always there when rogue blood is introduced even through proper members, of course that doesn't mean the pride should allow them all to stay. This system is already in place to handle off-color Firekin, it's just something any rogue-breeding mother would have to accept as a possibility.
Her cubs were named huria due to their blood, not their coloration. This is meant as a compromise during the introduction of the idea of rogue breeding and the goal is not to continue this practice after Agni-pariksha's daughters prove to be model Firekin.
OOC Information
Yes, we are seriously interested in introducing the idea of rogue breeding into the Firekin.
There will be limitations on who, how and when. This will be announced at a later time. These limitations will be considered IC compromises to help everybody adjust to the idea.. but also take into account that breeding outside the pride requires one to go outside the pride.
This will not change the opinion of the pride on unwelcome visitors or members wandering off as they please.
This discussion is being held looking exclusively at a female's right to breed outside the pride since her cubs are born into the Firekin. Since taking cubs from their mother is more .. complicated, it is not generally considered. Feel free to have characters question that!

Having Their Say
So, what do your Firekin think?
Post here letting us know if your members support or oppose the idea, and if they would be vocal or quiet in their support/opposition.
Feel free to add any other info you feel is relevant to the situation!
Note: 'vocal' would be willing to start an argument about it, 'quiet' is not. In the example below, I used 'moderate' for someone who would argue if they had to.
e.g.
Ecavi Agni-pariksha - support, vocal Nawvlee - neutral (secretly supportive) Shisa - support, moderate (non-confrontational, vocal if asked) Chaka - neutral, vocal ('wtf? who cares?') Titaia - neutral-confused, quiet (supports rogue breeding, too used to being contrary to the new Regents out of loyalty to mom & dad) etc.
This thread will close and the raffle will be rolled on April 1, 2017.
