[First move: bide]
He had been a guard a long time and, before the tournament was announced, had never even contemplated climbing the ladder. In all honesty he was happy with his job. He loved the life of a guard and, in truth, he wasn't sure what his father would think if he ever drew level with him in rank. It was for that reason that his father didn't even know that he'd put his name forward. Why risk causing strife if there was nothing to cause strife about?
When he heard he'd been matched up with Wook he felt a strange sort of gratitude that he would be fighting against another guard and one who he considered a brother-in-arms. Much rather that then be paired up with some know-it-all soldier.
He settled his stance at the opposite edge of the arena to his opponent and, with a determined smile, called out: "So it begins?"

[First Move: Miss]
This was just what he had been waiting for - a chance to move up the ranks.
Wook had been mentally preparing himself for this opportunity over the course of several weeks as well as addressing some physical training. With the support of Roho he felt over the moon, like he was capable of anything. He continued to strive towards focusing on a positive outcome, but felt that should he fail this first time he would feel confident to try again - that was his goal anyhow.
For now he planned to give it his all and expected the same from his partner. "So it does, Heti." Purple eyes landed on his on dueling partner and sparkled with a determination. He was opposite the lion in their arena, though he spied that the other lion had opted to bide his time Wook had already begun to settle I for an attack, his legs were coiled and within moments following his words he was lunging at his opponent in an almost careless manner - something he would have to address later - as the outcome was less than pleasant.Kimaria I'm presuming his over zealous desire to work his way up the ladder has unfortunately impaired his judgement to make a rookie choice, poor Wook hehe

[Second move: Hit] [Total: 5]
Wook was wasting no time and, with a look of determination on the striped-Firekin's face he lowered his stance and leapt to the side, concentrating on his footwork and hoping it would be enough to get him out of harm's way (it was!!)
Continuing the momentum of his dodge, he carried his body around to face his opponent and, with a forward step, lunged with his strong paw - a short but meaningful swipe.
He was...rather surprised when he felt the hit land - not quite believing his eyes.Abominable Greenie Heti, stop hitting Wook, you idiot D:

[Second move: Bide] [Total: 3]
Rookie mistake.
Wook knew better than to begin with a lunge, heck he figured most lions knew better. He wasn't that young of a lion either, so he couldn't even claim youth in his decision, but he recalled a moment when he was a cub that gave him some comfort.
It's not always about the attack, it's about how you recover.
The choices after that mistake needed to be made carefully. Smack. Mere seconds after his mistake he caught the swipe of a paw from his opponent that caused him to sail to the ground, it's hard surface not providing a comfortable place to land - Wook wasted no time in worrying about the pain that echoed where bruises would likely show later, instead he stood and took the opportunity to take a step back, regroup while Heti stood there with a look of mild surprise (likely at having struck him - which was well earned, he would applaud the striped comrade after this).Kimaria Rofl. Well if he loses to anyone he'd be happy it was Heti tbh. 8D

[Third Move: Hit] [Total: 8]
Perhaps, Heti considered, he should have more confidence in his abilities. Maybe he could, in fact, be rather good at his job and it was only now that he was realising it. Which, of course, was hardly surprising considering that he tended to keep his father's company and that lion was not so good at dishing out compliments where they had been earned.
Shaking himself out of his surprise, he lowered his stance and, with a hard thrust of his hind legs, closed the gap between them again, aiming another strike with his better arm.
He landed his second hit and his confidence grew like a fire kindling in his chest.

[Second move: Bide] [Total: 6]
Of course he learned quickly that a biding lion was a sitting duck as he witnessed Heti hurl himself forward and as he tried to dodge he found a bruise that rendered him motionless, an easy target so to speak.
When the powerful strike came down upon him he knew that if he simply took it and walked away it'd be grounds for mockery later and took the chance, at his lowered body to strike from below with as much force as he could muster.
He wasn't about to call it quits, not yet.
"Good one Heti." He said, the words would only be for the pair of them to hear.Kimaria Look! My lion isn't a defect and can hit once 8'D -pats Wook- lmao

[Fourth move: Bide] [Total: 10]
Wook's strike caught him a hefty blow across his ribs. It drove the breath from his lungs and left him gasping. Staggering back he drew in a wheezy breath and shook himself vigorously as if ridding the effects of the hit would be as easy as getting sand off of his fur.
It was not quite so simple as that but, with a slight pained wince, he strengthened his stance again and lowered his head in preparation for Wook's next move - whatever it may be.
"You, too." He returned the compliment, trying not to focus on how bad those bruised ribs were going to feel tomorrow.Abominable Greenie I have faith! He can do this!!

[Second move: Glancing Blow] [Total: 8]
Wook was satisfied with the outcome of his strike and with his confidence he decided to try again favoring speed over the force behind the blow. He wore a smile and had narrowed his eyes, he winced a little at the movement finding a few more bruises.
Almost there.
Was what he told himself, but he didn't know whether or not that was the case. This could be any ones match.

[Fifth move: Hit] [Total: 13]
Wook was coming again - moving to press the attack and keep the pressure on. With a low growl between clenched teeth, Heti reared backwards in an attempt to pull away from the lunge without backing out of the way entirely. If he hadn't misjudged, keeping closer than some might risk would pay off in a few moment's time.
The other lion's paw caught him across the lower part of his jaw, clipping just enough that it turned his head to the side - even if it didn't disturb his evasive maneuver.
As he came down again, he swung his farthest paw back around, intending fully on countering Wook's move with a powerful one of his own.

[Definitely forgot to roll.. and I just noticed I forgot to change the move number lol]
His over confidence was to be is undoing, he thought he might have made a better go of this, but Heti had bested him.
This was the realization Wook had as he threw himself forward and achieved a blow that wouldn't floor the lion, instead he left himself open to an attack that should have been predicted and instead he felt the connection of Hetis paw, closing his eyes tightly and grinding his teeth in an effort to not voice his pain.
The blow caused him to collapse in the arena heaving deep breathes and working himself up to stand before his opponent. Wook only took a moment before standing.
"You did well Heti."Wook said, praising his opponent for the good match.
