X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn As Ichiro approached Phoebe, he could sense that something seemed off about her, as though something wasn't quite right, however, he didn't have the slightest idea as to what had played out between her and the others that were seated on the bench. Hopefully it wasn't anything too upsetting. Fortunately, any misgiving he had just as soon faded away when Phoebe responded to him. "That's super cool that you evolved her -- and to have learned a new move to boot. Oh, I can't wait to see what kinda attack it is."He told Phoebe in his usual chipper tone. Though, just as he had finished, his smile kinda faltered some when he noticed her features shift into a much darker look all of a sudden. Ichiro blinked a couple times as he stared back at Phoebe with a puzzled look on his face. It didn't register to him that she had just shot the boy on the bench, Silvano, a sort of dirty look. Though, he could still sense that something might of been bugging his friend just then. Normally she was a lot more talkative, too. "Um... Phoebe?" He began to question her. He was just moments from saying something along the lines of "are you okay" but had fallen completely silent when another announcement was made over the speaker system. It was time for the participants to get moving to their designated spots and proceed with the tournament.
Returning his attention back to Phoebe, he couldn't help but look back at her curiously as she returned Fireball back to her ball. It seemed they'd be parting ways now and Ichiro was almost reluctant to leave Phoebe's side. He was feeling slightly worried about her. Giving Phoebe an animated nod, he promised her the same, wishing her the best of luck as returned her hug, squeezing her a little more tightly as if to tacitly say he cared and hoped whatever was bothering her would quickly ebb away. He gave her one last wave 'goodbye' before heading off where he was told.

Taking his place within the stadium, Ichiro decided to hold his head high, just as he promised his friend. Silently, he watched as his opponent, Evelyn, join him out on the stadium floor. His azure orbs brimmed with newfound confidence, as he reached for Tsutarja's Pokeball. He was ready, even though behind his determined exterior, he was a bit of a nervous wreck. This was his first battle ever and he hopped he wouldn't let his Pokemon down either.
"Good luck, Evey! Give this your very best shot and I'll do the same." Ichiro called out to his challenger. He didn't much like the idea of going up against someone he also kinda considered a cool friend, but at the same time, he felt good knowing that he didn't have to be too embarrassed around her. She was nice person, albeit a little clumsy and with bad luck following her around like her shadow, but she wasn't the type that would laugh at a person just for trying. In this respect, he couldn't of asked for a better opponent for his first battle.

Evelyn returned Yamask and headed off for her match after wishing Tera good luck against Ava. Heading off she knew Holly would be watching both girls’ matches. The Kingdra was hardly worried about an audience. However, she’d never battled before. Luckily with a match up like Ichiro any jitters a normal battle would have caused her weren’t there. She hoped Ichiro could say the same if it was his first time as well. They were friends, so this was just a friendly Pokémon battle among friends.
Walking over to her place, Evelyn had nearly tripped over her own two feet. Taking a sigh of relief that she didn’t face plant, she smiled over at Ichiro. “Good luck to you too Ichiro.” She called back to him. “We’ll do our best I can promise you that.”She added brightly. At least that’s what she hoped as she held Yamask’s Pokéball in her hand.

X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn As Ichiro watched his opponent walk out onto the opposite side of the field, he felt a familiar sense of nervousness wash over him. Though, when he had seen that Eve had nearly tripped on her way over, he had almost completely forgotten his nerves when he called out to her. "Be careful Evy!" Her warned, legitimately worried that she almost hurt herself. Fortunately, she wasn't shaken up or anything and even wished him good luck too. Ichiro rose a hand to the back of his head and beamed a large smile at her in return. "I know you guys will do well." He replied before his attention was stolen by the MC introducing their battle to the audience;
Listening to the audience come to life with a roar of applause and cheers, Ichiro felt his nervousness swiftly rerun. Apparently, as called out, he would be the one to start the battle. "O-okay.." He breathed out, while trying to get his hand to stop shaking as he held out Tsutarja's Pokeball. "Here goes nothin'" He meekly spoke up before giving the button on the ball a press before tossing it up into the air, just like how he had seen on TV. With glow of red light, his Snivy took form on the field in front of him. "Sni-vy!" The pokemon cried, out to the opponent before looking back at Ichiro somewhat nervously. He was waiting for his trainer to call out an attack.
"Oh, right-right. I have to give you a move to use. Um... let's see..."Ichiro trailed off, before digging into his bag for his PokeGEAR. He nearly fumbled it, but he had managed to point the device at his grass type in order to pull up a small reminder of its attacks. He wasn't sure what to tell his Snivy to do. He hardly want to hurt Eve's floating across from him. An overwhelming sense of embarrassment began to wash over as he realized he was the new focus of everyone's attention and that they were all waiting for him to do somethign. Anything!
Looking down at his feet, he almost wanted to throw in the towel right then and there, but then he began to think about what Phoebe had told him. She would have wanted him to remain confident. Heck, if she were in the crowd right now, she'd probably be the loudest voice cheering him on. Did he really want to let down that person, let alone Eve who probably wanted to a decent match, too? Giving his head a shake, Ichiro begin to pull himself back together. "Okay... I think I think I can do this." Ichiro spoke up nervously, albeit trying his best to find his confidence. Looking up, he noticed that his Snivy was still staring back at him and seemed to have more confidence than him, as if he was certain Ichiro would let him know what was best to do. Finding it in him to nod back at the grass pokemon, Ichiro finally had an idea. Pointing his PokeGear at Eve's pokemon, he briskly read through the entry, half disturbed by what the dex had to tell him and half intrigued that Tsutarja was up against a literal GHOST!
"Alright, Tsutarja! Let's show Evy and her Yanmask what can do!" He mustered enough confidence to say to his Snivy, who returned a confident nod. "Sni-Snivy!"The Pokemon then returned his attention to the Yanmask in front of him."Give Evy's friendly ghost your very best Glare!" He commanded, his voice still somewhat shaky despite his newfound confidence.
Snivy meanwhile gave another nod, before taking a few steps forward. He then stood tall on his tiny legs as he lowered his head to give Yanmask the most menacing look he could muster. His eyes began to glow a deep crimson red, as the pokemon raised up its tiny arms and extending its tail out straight. He seemingly let out a muffled growl as his haunting gaze remained locked on the ghost in front of him.
Watching his pokemon prform his command, Ichiro hobbled back on one foot, taken aback to see just how spooky his little grass type had suddenly become. It legitimately startled him. "Yikes. That's... that's pretty scray.. Tsutarja."He commented while recomposing himself. He was no expert, but he couldn't help but wonder if Tsutarja's glare could scare a ghost. It certainly scared him. Though, hopefully, it would give his Snivy the edge he needed for this battle.

Evelyn was grateful for Ichiro’s concern. She was pretty sure everyone was more concerned about her then she was. Listening to the MC introduced them, the dark haired girl didn’t know if Yamask was that mysterious. Shrugging it off, she focused on the task at hand. Not making a fool of herself or rather not making a fool of her Pokémon. “Alright… here we go.”Evelyn said clicking the button on the pokéball in her hand. As it grew, Evelyn gave it a toss, releasing Yamask it a flash for white light. The ghost Pokémon floated between Eve and Ichiro’s Snivy.“You can do this Yamask.”She told her ghost type. Even for his first battle she had faith.
As Ichiro took out his Pokégear, Evelyn took the time to go over some moves in her head. ‘Depending on how far Ichiro’s Snivy is in its training, it probably has your basic starting moves… some kind of a grass move…’She thought before thinking about her own Pokémon. ‘Yamask, he’s a ghost type… has one damaging move… and quite a few other moves protect, disable, and haze.’ She thought knowing she didn’t stand much of a chance. Mentally she knew that they were going to need to do a lot of hard work when this tournament was over.
Looking to Ichiro as he seemed very unsure, Evelyn called over to him. “You can do it Ichiro!” Luckily he seemed to turn around because he found at least a bit of confidence. “Alright Yamask get ready.” She told her ghost type who floated there seemingly prepared. At the very least she hoped he was prepared. However, when Ichiro called out glare Evelyn knew they were in trouble. Seeing the look in Snivy’s eyes she was certainly surprised. Yamask on the other hand appeared to freeze in place and looked to be wide eyed and shivering. Could ghost even shiver? Pushing the thought aside, Evelyn shook off her shock and looked at her partner. “Yamask, shake it off and use astonish!” She called out. If she could that would be a good start. Hopefully Yamask wouldn’t remain paralyzed. Luckily he wasn't as he cried out as if startled while moving towards Snivy. Made sense given the circumstances. However, it certainly new to Evelyn who was used to him being so quiet.

X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn Still feeling nervous, Ichiro felt a little better knowing that Evelyn was even willing to throw him some words of confidence. It was nice knowing he had friends that cared so much. "T-thanks, Evy." Ichiro meekly replied. Inwardly, the blonde kinda wondered if his opponent was feeling much the same apprehension as him. If she was, the look on her face didn't seem to show it. Then again, being that she was from the Kingdra house, they tended to be more level-headed, analytical thinkers -- kids that understood what they were doing. He mainly guess this because his closest friend (and spiritual mentor) Phoebe, was also from the same house.
Watching as his Snivy pulled off a successful Glare, Ichiro quickly composed himself before noticing that Eve's Yanmask appeared to be affected by it. Ichiro couldn't help but stare at the ghostly pokemon an awe. It's body seemed to tremble and its eyes seemed to flood with despair. Was Yanmask alright? Ichiro hoped his pokemon didn't dredge up some horrible memories for the ghost-type, seeing as it had a harrowing previous life, as described by its Dex entry. Hopefully that was just a spooky old wise-tale. "Good work, Tsutarja!" He complimented his Pokemon, whose eyes began to return to normal. But then, his attention shifted when Evelyn called out a command for her Ghost. For a split second, Ichiro wondered if Yanmask would be able to snap out of its fright, and sure enough, it did.
Instinctively, Ichiro reached for his ears when he heard the silent ghost suddenly let out a wailful scream, before charing right towards his Snivy. The blonde didn't take his eyes off his pokemon as Snivy was too frightened to move out of the way of Yanmask's attack and was hit dead on. "Oh no! Tsutarja!" Ichiro cried out to his Pokemon, who had been knocked to the ground. Unaccountably, Ichiro felt like crying. It was the first time he had seen Snivy get hurt. Maybe signing up for the tournament was a stupid and selfish idea. What was he thinking? "Phoebe what do I do?" He began to panic a little. Though, he noticed that his Pokemon wasn't about to stay down.
Slowly, his Snivy began to get back up, using his vines to help right himself. He was startled and little sore, but wasn't ready to give in. He wanted to make his trainer proud, even despite his sheepish nature. Meanwhile, Ichiro's gaze flickered back and fourth between his determined pokemon and the ref. As much as he wanted to forfeit the battle, his thoughts had returned to dwelling on Phoebe. What would she say if he gave up after one attack? "Phoebe wouldn't want me to quit. That's what she would tell me."He attempted to bolster his confidence. Looking back at Evelyn and Yanmask, he began to think on his next move.
"Tsutarja..." He began, while trying to keep his nerves in check. "Use Leer on Yanmask and don't let him scare you."With that his Snivy once again nodded back at him. "Sni!" Turning his head to look back at Yanmask, this time, he narrowed his eyes as they began to glow red once again, locking eyes with the Ghost-type. The red glow of his eyes then shot forward, as if it were some kind of red blur of an after-image, that had shot through the air, heading straight for Yanmask. Meanwhile, Snivy's orbs had stopped glowing, but he didn't let down his sharp stare for an instant. He was ready for whatever the ghost had ready for him next.

Evelyn was seriously surprised when Yamask managed to move. Seeing her Pokémon fight the paralysis and charge forward, it didn’t seem like a trait the ghost type had. Perhaps, she didn’t give Yamask enough created. Suddenly she felt bad for thinking he wasn’t a fighter. As smart as she was, shouldn’t she have realized that all Pokémon knew how to fight and survive. When he pushed passed and nailed into Tsutarja with a startling cry, Evelyn knew to believe in him. The ghost type believed in her all the same, it was best to share the same feelings. “Await a go Yamask.” She praised the ghost type brightly. Despite making a racket only seconds ago he was back to his quiet self.
As Yamask backed away from the grass type, Evelyn couldn’t help but feel bad for the small grass snake. Granted she knew that astonish wasn’t the strongest attack out there. So, perhaps she shouldn’t worry. Sure enough Tsutarja got right back up. She knew he wouldn’t give up. When Ichiro called out a leer, Evelyn knew what would happen as the two Pokémon’s eyes met. Yamask could feel the sharp look Tsutarja was giving him. He floated there seemingly unbothered but he could sense the tension between them. This battle was intense for a staring contest.
Evelyn quickly thought of her next plan of attack. She had two options both were up in the air since Yamask was still bound by paralysis. Though the more she thought of the one the more she thought it would leave things in an endless circle. Part of her was going one way and part of her was going the other. “Okay Yamask, see if you can try fighting through your paralysis and use astonish again.” She called out to him. Yamask went to cry out and charge at the grass type again. With surprising luck the ghost Pokémon went right for Tsutarja again. A loud battle cry rang out as he went straight at the grass type.

X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn Ichiro watched in awe as his Snivy seemed to have pulled off a successful Leer attack. Although Evelyn's Yamask didn't appear too bothered by this particular face Snivy had given, the two pokemon's eyes did met and so Ichiro wondered if it would make the pokemon let down its guard. Only time could tell on that one. "Good job, Tsutarja!" Ichiro congratulated his pokemon. His Snivy was quick to look back at his trainer with pride, giving an excited flick of his tail before retuning his attention to his foe. He was mentally preparing himself for Yamask's next move.
When Evelyn called out Yamask's next move, Ichiro became nervous again. "Tsutarja, try to move out of the way." He worriedly told his pokemon as the ghost began to wail again. His Snivy lifted his tiny head as the sound began to pierce his ears, picking up in volume as Yamask headed towards him. Frightened, Snivy was glued to where he stood, too afraid to move a muscle in either direction to dodge the incoming assailment. Snivy was once again thrown to the ground when the ghost connected with his tiny body. Ichiro winced at Yamask's successful hit, once agin feeling guilty for making his little companion battle. He knew fighting was inherent to a pokemon's nature, but seeing his Pokemon getting beat up was heart wrenching. "Please be okay." The blond Salamence gasped as he watched his pokemon lay there on the ground, not moving at all. "Tsutarja, get up. Please get up. Please..."Ichiro pleaded, tears welling up in his eyes as he realized that his Snivy was not okay. He might have even been critically hurt. "Why isn't he moving?" More and more, Ichiro was falling further into despair. It was his fault Snivy was lying their motionless on the ground. This was most certainly a one-sided fight -- he should have known better than to sign up for this. Snivy was sure despise him after this! For throwing the poor little guy into this snake pit. Maybe he really didn't have what it took to be a good trainer...
Helplessly watching his pokemon's tiny chest continue to rise and fall as he continued to lay on his side on the field, unable to get back up, Ichiro could hardly take no more. Lifting his gaze, more tears threaten to fall from his eyes as he looked back at Evelyn on the other side of the field. Her pokemon looked more than ready to come lay another beating down on his companion. Ichiro didn't want to witness what was sure to come next, so his eyes pleaded with Evelyn not to hurt Tsutarja anymore than he already was. "Please be gentle..." Ichiro's voice cracked. "I don't want to see him get worse." Hanging his head, Ichiro let his long bangs fall in front of his eyes as he awaited Snivy's fate. He knew Eve couldn't just not attack -- that wasn't an option for this tournament. Ichiro really didn't know what to do except avert his eyes when the ghost was sure to let out another long wail.

Evelyn was beginning to wonder if her bad luck was finally gone. Though something told her that was just a pipe dream. She may not have the best of luck but Yamask certainly seemed too. The Kingdra felt better knowing she wasn’t jinxing the battle. Seeing her ghost type push through the paralysis and crash into the grass snake, she smiled. Her smile grew when she saw that the Snivy was also unable to move. “Nicely done Yamask!” She said pushing her glasses up which has slid down her nose during the fight.
When Ichiro started tearing up and pleading to his Pokémon, Evelyn’s happiness deflated. She felt horrible for making him feel this way. Though she knew she hadn’t signed him up for the tournament. He’d done that himself. “He’s just flinched. It’s the effect astonish can have.” She told Ichiro like she was reading it from a textbook. When his voice cracked, she looked from her Pokémon to his and then to Ichiro.“He’ll be fine, I promise.” She told him optimistically.
With Tsutarja frozen where he was, Evelyn had two choices. Take the chance to attack or use the opening for something else. Given the Salamence’s words the Kingdra figured she knew what he thinking. However that didn’t mean her brain was about to think the same way. With paralysis still in play there was a lot more to consider. Not to mention she knew her luck wasn’t going to stay good forever. Everything could come crashing down because she failed to play her cards right. “Alright Yamask, you heard him. Let’s try haze.” She told him with a smile. She wanted to use this opening right. Yamask nodded at Evelyn’s words, opening his mouth the ghost type let out a black smoke similar to that of smokescreen. However when the smoke cleared his defense was back to normal. Smiling she was ready for whatever Ichiro and his Snivy could throw at them.

X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn From the very beginning it seemed Evelyn's bad luck had done a 180, with Yamask fighting through his Paralysis like a champ. Inwardly, Ichiro was happy for the Ghost pokemon, even though he was his Snivy's opponent. Maybe Ghost Pokemon just happened to be able to handle Paralysis a little better than other Types of Pokemon. Since Ichiro hadn't taken battle class, he knew virtually nothing when it came to Types and status ailment or anything else associated with the sport. He was only learning just now as the battle went along.
Unfortunately, a product of being so inexperienced, Ichiro had no idea what was going on with his grass Pokemon when the little guy didn't make a second attempt to stand back up. He looked seriously injured, lying there on the ground -- it was really scary to the blond. Panic-stricken, Ichiro was quick to assume the worst and couldn't stop himself from tearing up as his eyes remained glued to his fallen Pokemon. He even attempted to plead with his Snivy, but it was of no use. It took everything Ichiro had to stop himself from running over to his Pokemon's side, but then his attention shifted when Evelyn spoke up, telling him that his Snivy was just Flinched. "Flinched?" Ichiro questioned her back. Apparently, it was something the move Astonish was capable of doing. "So... he's going to be okay?" Ichiro then asked, after Eve had assured him that his pokemon would be. "Thanks, Evy. I was really worried. It's good to know he'll be alright." Using his sleeve to wipe his eyes, he felt as though Evelyn's words were pretty comforting, especially since she sounded like an expert on the subject. Like all Kingdra house students seemingly were, Eve was pretty smart.
Though, even despite Eve's optimistic words, Ichiro had a bad feeling about what was coming next. With no way for Tsutarja to move out of the way of what was coming next, he knew his Pokemon was about to get hurt again. So when Evelyn called out her next command for Yamask, Ichiro covered his eyes with his hands, hoping not to see what was to come. But then no noise came from the Ghost pokemon on the other side of the field. Opening his eyes to look through the cracks of his fingers, Ichiro was shocked to see a black mist blanketing over the field. His Snivy just remained there a little while longer on the ground before finally getting back up on his tiny feet. Lowering his hands, Ichiro looked at the black mist in awe. What exactly did it do? "What is this mist?" Ichiro spoke up, while holding out a hand to collect some of it. His attempt was futile as the mist had soon vanished as quickly as it had appeared. "Evy... what was that move Yamask did just now? It looked... mysterious and kind of cool." Ichiro couldn't find the right words for it, but the move certainly had a sort of elegance to it that felt inspiring. If he could, he'd love to have one of his own Pokemon learn such a pretty move and perhaps use it for coordination or special effects. Or maybe he'd have to do some convincing to have Eve join his club with her mysterious Pokemon.
Looking back at his pokemon, he quickly snapped out of reverie, realizing that his Pokemon was expecting him to call out a move. While Ichiro didn't know what effect the black mist had, he assumed it wasn't too detrimental since Snivy appeared unaffected by it. "Thank you, Eve... for being kind to Tsutarjar. It really means a lot to me -- and him, too." He told his opponent sincerely, while trying not to get too emotional over his actions. "I don't want to see Yamask get hurt, either, but please forgive me for this." He then quickly apologized, lowering his head with a sense of shame. Evelyn had respected his request to not batter his Snivy while he was trapped on the ground recovering -- for this, Ichiro would never forget Eve's amazing display of kindness and sympathy. She had a much larger heart than any other opponent he could have faced in this situation. It was incredible, and so, he hardly felt good about telling his Pokemon to attack back.
"Tsutarjar, try using Vine Whip on Yamask." He nervously instructed his pokemon. He knew it was a move that Snivy had only just learned but hoped he would be able to pull off the move okay. He had no idea what it even looked like, but assumed it had something to do with the vines his Snivy could will to come out of his body sometimes. "Sni!" His grass Pokemon cried out, confirming that he understood his command. Bracing himself where he stood, Snivy took in a sharp breath before puffing out his little chest as he allowed one of the vines from behind his shoulders to come out and extend forward. Then letting out his breath as he threw his body forward onto one foot, he used his momentum to slam the long vine he extended down on top of Yamask. Or at least that's what he was aiming to do.

“Flinch is when a Pokémon is so startled they just can’t move.” Evelyn expanded to Ichiro before giving him a nod. Snivy would be fine she knew that. Clearly he was just worried about his Pokémon. Evelyn would be too if she could tell when Yamask was in pain. Though, they’d never battled before. So she’d never seen her Pokémon take a hit. Today would be the day though, she was sure of that. The dark haired girl was glad to hear that Ichiro was feeling better about the situation.
Truth was, when Ichiro begged her not to hurt his grass type, Evelyn couldn’t bring herself to do it. Perhaps it was a bad move on her part but she knew fixing her stats was still a good call. Though, part of her was surprise that it didn’t remove the paralysis. She probably should have looked at that move more closely. Oh well, even she still had learning to do. That’s why she was at the academy after all. Looking to Ichiro as he asked what the move was, Evelyn smiled. “Thanks Ichiro. It’s haze. A support move, that helps restore the stats of a Pokémon. Too bad it doesn’t get rid of status ailments.” She explained before adding. “Guess we both learned something.” Slightly embarrassed by not knowing right off the bat, Evelyn sheepishly adjusted her glasses.
The Kingdra was glad he liked the move and even Yamask seemed pleased by the compliment. However, they needed to focus on Snivy’s upcoming move. “It’s no problem. No need to thank us.” Evelyn told Ichiro with a smile. She’d like to think she did it for strategic value. Of course it was a minor slip up. Though, Snivy didn’t need a beating while it was down. When Ichiro apologized for what he was about to do next, she waved her hand dismissively. “Don’t worry Ichiro, we can take it. Right Yamask?” She said brightly. “Ya~” The ghost type replied quietly in agreement.
As Ichiro called out a vine whip, Evelyn knew she had two options. One try and block it and two try and get rid of the attack. “Well here goes nothing…” She muttered to herself before calling out to her Pokémon. “Yamask, disable it!” She instructed. Yamask seemingly nodded as his eyes began to glow blue and his body became outlined in a blue light. As Snivy’s vine came done on him the same blue outline appeared around Snivy’s body, the move being disabled due to the effects. However that was the only thing that happened. As the vine slammed into him, Yamask’s ability kicked in causing Snivy’s ability to change to the mummy ability.

X⇒ LOCATION :Lamia District Stadium XXXXXXXXXX⇒ WITH : Evelyn After drying his eyes, Ichiro looked on curiously as Evelyn further explained what "Flinched" meant. He had no idea that Pokemon could be so startled that they'd be temporarily unable to move. Though it did make sense. The attack that Yamask had used, with the loud wailing and reckless charge, was pretty unsettling and scary. Snivy probably couldn't take it that second time and was most likely shared out of his wits. "Poor... Tsutarja." Ichiro voiced his concern out loud. "I guess he was just too terrified to move." Inwardly, Ichiro was glad that Evelyn was willing to explain everything. There was just so much he didn't understand yet.
Amazed by the black mist that Eve's pokemon had summoned, Ichiro once against focused his attention on Evelyn before complimenting her and asking about it. It was also cute to see that even Yamask liked his comment. "No problem." He smiled back, raising a hand to the back of his head, sheepishly. "So that black mist was called Haze. I wouldn't have thought it was a sort of healing-like-ish move. Though, it really is a shame that it doesn't clear up status problems." He then added, with a slight chuckle. Silently, he reminded himself to make a note about the move after the battle. Perhaps he'd even tell Phoebe about it once he was able to meet back up with her. It really was such a cool looking move and did some pretty cool stuff, too, like how it helped Yamask get over his Snivy's leer that was used. "I guess we both really did learn something. Actually, I feel like I'm learning quite a bit." Ichiro then told Eve with another lighthearted laugh. He admired Eve's knowledge, and hoped he'd be able to catch up to her someday.
Of course, Ichiro was still immensely grateful for Evelyn's decision to show mercy towards the already battered Grass snake. Even though, he fully understood the brutality that often accompanied the Pokemon Battling scene, he still wasn't exactly prepared for it and didn't like the idea of seeing the Pokemon he deeply cared for get hurt. Fortunately for him, Evelyn seemed to understand that. "I can't thank you enough, Evy." Ichiro once again thanked his friend, even though she told him that he didn't need to thank her. It didn't at all occur to him that her decision for Yamask to use Haze was mostly a strategic one. "Alright, if you guys say you're ready." He then nodded back at the two after Even and Yamask confirmed that he didn't need to worry about having his Snivy use an attack. They must of have something up their sleeve, but Ichiro had no idea what, nor thought about any ramifications at all. He mostly just wanted to see Tsutarja feel better about getting in at least one attack during the battle.
In awe, Ichiro watched as his pokemon preformed a Vine Whip just as asked. It was amazing how far his vine was able to stretch, so it was easy to see how it would connect with its target. Though, before Ichiro had time to congratulate or cheer on his Pokemon, something strange happened. Just as the Snivy's vine had come down on its target, Eve had called out another order and the ghost had suddenly gained an eerie blue outline around its body. Then when Snivy's vine had landed against the ghost, it's blue aura unexpectedly race back down the vine, soon snaring his Snivy's entire body in the same blue light. What was happening to him? Before Ichiro could ask, the strange light had disappeared from both Pokemon almost as quickly as it had appeared. "What was that?" Ichiro gasped as he watched his Snivy fully retract his vine back into his body before staggering a bit were he stood, seemingly dazed as he squeezed his large eyes shut while correcting his balance. That was certainly something unusual. "Tsutarja, you okay?" Ichiro asked. "Snivy." His Pokemon was quick to open his eyes and turn to look back at him with a nod. "Good to hear it, buddy." The blond smiled back, before deciding what to do next. It seemed Yamask was hurt by the Vine Whip, and for that Ichiro did feel slightly sorry, but he knew he'd have to have Snivy do it again. "Okay. Let's try another Vine Whip." With than, his Pokemon gave another quick nod before correcting his posture to make the same attack again. However, once again something strange happened.
As his Snivy attempted to summon another vine, that strange blue light reappeared again around his body, and Snivy suddenly froze up again, unable to make his vine appear. "Tsutarja? What's wrong?" Ichiro questioned the pokemon, sounding concerned again before noticing that the light around his body had faded away. "Can you use Vine Whip?" He then inquired, starting to wonder if the Pokemon was reluctant to attack Yamask again after what mysteriously happened to him. "Sni, Sni!" The Grass Pokemon spoke up in protest. "Um... please try?" His Grass-type shook his head dismissively before once again giving it another try. However, the same blue aura re-appeared over his body and nothing happened. "Maybe he can't use that attack?" Ichiro then mused, deciding that it was probably best to try a different attack then. It was rather strange that a blue aura kept appearing around his Pokemon. What could that have meant? "Okay... um... how about Tackle?" He knew it was Snivy's only other offensive attack and that it was once again a move that had to make physical contact with Yamask. Inwardly, he hoped his Snivy wouldn't mind that. Looking back at his trainer Snivy, gave another nod, denoting that he was willing to give it a try. "Alright, Tackle it is." Ichiro nodded back. "Give it your best."
"Snivy!" His Pokemon answered back in agreement. Backing up a little on the battlefield, Snivy then began to run forward as fast as he could manage on his tiny legs before giving a giant leap, hurling himself at his opponent with his head lowered in an attempt to make contact with his skull. However, instead of striking his opponent hard, Snivy's body had passed straight through! Ichiro's eyes widened as he watched his pokemon sail right through Yamask's body, before landing with a thud against the ground. The Grass Snake then proceeded to roll onto his back, his eyes rolling in circles in his head as he fought to recover from having thrown himself to the ground so hard. "How did that happen?" Ichiro stammered, sounding awfully confused and worried. "You okay, Tsutarja?" His pokemon soon picked himself back up, and proceeded to try to nurse his massive headache with his tiny hands. He seemed okay, despite nearly knocking himself out. "I'm so sorry I told you to do that."Ichiro then exclaimed worriedly, shaking his head in disbelief. It seemed like his Snivy's Vine could connect with Evelyn's Yamask, but his body couldn't. Maybe that was just the nature of ghost types? Ichiro had no idea, but he understood that this battle was now entirely one-sided. Fortunately, the match was almost over, so he could take his loss and tend to Snivy quickly. Hopefully, Phoebe had faired a lot better than him.

Evelyn was pretty surprised to on what Haze did. You wouldn’t think a dark cloud similar to smokescreen or smog would heal at all. However, that’s what it did which at least helped when her opponent went for a vine whip attack. At least the damage wasn’t has bad as it would have been had his defenses not been restored. She smiled at Ichiro as he agreed with her. They really had learned quite a bit, maybe joining the tournament was a good idea after all.
The dark haired girl smiled as both her and Yamask successfully disabled vine whip. That would make it harder for Ichiro to hit her and in turn make it easier for her. “Nicely done Yamask,” She smiled before looking to Ichiro and Tsutarja. “That was disable.” She said brightly to the blonde Salamence. “You okay Yamask?” She asked looking to her Pokémon. “Mask…” (I’m good…) Yamask replied with a content nod. He could take it or so he’d like to believe. Watching as Ichiro went for another attempted Evelyn was aware that vine whip wouldn’t work. Sure enough the blue light encircled Snivy preventing him from using the attack.
As the two decided to go for tackle instead, Yamask continued to float where he was. Neither Evelyn nor Yamask were worried about the normal type move. Being a ghost type it would have no effect. Sure enough Tsutarja went right through Yamask like it was going through air. Looking to Ichiro she decided to explain. “Normal type moves don’t work on ghost Pokémon, unless they’re status effecting moves like Leer and Glare are.” Evelyn told him. Looking back to her ghost Pokémon, the Kingdra smiled. “Yamask, try another astonish.” She instructed. Yamask nodded and went to move. Suddenly he froze in place, sparks flying around him. Unfortunately it looked like their luck had run out as paralysis stopped him in his tracks. This was a problem…

The winner is...Evelyn and Yamask!
In this battle, Evelyn had quite the edge due to Yamask's use of Astonish and Disable. Snivy was only able to land one hit, Vine Whip, but due to its Timid nature (which lowers Attack), the move itself was powered down. Yamask managed to use two Astonish and caused the grass pokemon to flinch.
Ultimately, Yamask controlled the field and thus they won this battle. Rue, you are allowed to end this battle however you want so long as it is believable and not anything outrageous. Thank you both
Being stuck on the spot was not a good thing when in the middle of a battle. Evelyn knew that statistically she was doing rather well in the department of not being paralyzed on the spot. However, it seemed their luck was running out. Being stuck unable to move certainly complicated the situation just a bit. “Come on Yamask give astonish one more try.” She told him confidently. Evelyn stared at the battlefield with a surprised look on her face. Despite her optimism she hadn’t expected to win. “We won…” She said in shock as she collapsed to her knees. “We actually won…” She continued all while pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose. Evelyn continued to tell herself it was real in her mind as if saying it enough times would help her be less in shock.
